freezing...cooked rom? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys, i just bought my hd2 this week from ebay and it freezes up already usually when i'm trying to use htc messaging or trying to login to the facebook app, so i am seeking to fix this... i have searched through the forums and got a little bit of an idea on roms and hardspl... in my software info. it says under rom version: "Artemis A 22.0 WWE".. this is a cooked rom yes? and if so does that mean i can just go ahead and flash a different rom without having to flash the hardspl?
sorry if there's a thread on this already but i couldnt find anything that fully answers my questions
thanks in advance

It should mean that HSPL is already and still on there, but it may not be, HSPL is only needed to flash the ROM and could be removed after the custom ROM is on there ... best way is to go into the bootloader, (hold vol down, power on) and look to see if HSPL is on there, save you a headache before you flash.
If it is not on there search for HSPL3 and load'er up ...

This is what you are looking for, read it carefully and it will explain everything you need to know about flashing a new ROM.

The whole flashing process seems a lot more difficult than it seems. You can flash via USB connection or via SD. The USB connection requires a windows PC. You need to install HSPL, 3 is the latest version. HSPL allows a custom Rom. For both steps you need to have an active sync connection. You download the hspl, radio, or rom file. Open the RUU file and there will be a GUI guiding you through the process. Just read as much as you can to avoid mistakes.

thanks for the help guys... seems to have hspl after all... and the freezing issue pretty much dissapeared when i turned off htc sense and just used windows default
thanks again

when i use th RUU to flash a new rom, met an error.
You don't have to flash a new ROM to get Java programs to run. Just install a different Java-App. Search the forum and you'll find a couple!

You could just easily flash the official HTC WM6.1 ROM to it.

Make sure it is not locked to any phone provider. If it is locked, flashing will stop before it is completed, and you'll need the original phone provider's ROM to fix this problem.

Vodafone 845

Good Evening,
I understood that each device has different ways to get rooted.
If that is wrong I am sorry.
Now... I have a Vodafone 845 and saw great apps on market only for rooted devices.
Normally I would like to have those.
I surfed the xda Forum and found some discuss about this device but root links are to x10 (sony ericsson I believe).
Because of my understanding that confused me.
Anyway, I am dummy in android and did`t understand a lot from those procedures.
My request is: would you guys please make a step by step guide for dummies (with simply english) like me in android?
THAT WOULD BE GREAT!
My devise characteristics are:
Vodafone 845 ( Huawei U8120 ?)
android 2.1 update 1
baseband version 2210
kernel version 2.6.29-perf
locked in Vodafone Romania.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Respectfully.
Wonderful
This is absolutely great!!!
So many advice, so many guidance!
I really can`t choose between those.
Seems that my post is written with invisible ink!

Hey bro I just saw ya post now, I too have a vodafone 845. What you must first do is root your device using superboot, and then you need to pur a custom recovery using amonra recovery. Our device is synonymous with the u8120. If you search for any roms dealing with u8120, you can use it on this device as well. You should connect the phone via usb to a win7 pc and then follow the directions on how to root etc. These directions can be found on the page that deals with Fresh Zodiac Fruit by Cedric. If you follow these directions to the letter you will have no problem rooting your device and installing a custom rom. Once you have a custom rom on, I would advise installing rom manager from the market. Once Rom manager is installed, flash Huawei Ideos 1 recover image. Then put cm7 u8120 slyking on your sd card and flash that, it is, as far as I am concerned, the best rom for this phone nowdays. When you got some experience using and flashing roms, download v6 supercharger and play around with that, you will be amazed at the results. Anyways bro, just remember vodafone 845=U8120. Once you got this, searching is easy.
THANK YOU
Thanks Bro , I just saw your reply.
Just when I lost any hope of a reply.
From your reply seems a lot of trouble to root my device.
I rooted my phone and now of course I got a bigger problem.
From the moment I bought the phone I hated the calendar,
so I tried lots of calendar apps from the market and stopped the search when
I found aCalendar which suited me excelent.
yesterday after I rooted the phone I erased the original calendar.
This morning when I tried to open the aCalendar ...surprise,
the app didn`t open and the screen shown: OnCreate|NullPointerException null şi apoi OnResume|......
I restored to factory settings and nothing ... same message.
Would you help me please with that?
Or some guru, PLEASE HELP.

[Q] HTC Sensation - How to backup/extract ROM?

Hello, I am a newby in Android, I got my new HTC Sensation with Android some days ago and I would like to change several things on it, but before doing it and to be safe safe I would like to do a backup of the phone as I got it (well, let say after the first answers to the first questions it asks you when powered on first time), as I did with my old (and broken ) HTC P3600 with WM.
I have been searching forums (including this one) and I find tools and tutorials for doing it in Windows Mobile or for Applications, but I didn't find it (or I was not able to find it) for the full smartphone, including the ROM Android-based.
Where could I find a guide, tutorial, how-to, tool for doing it?
Thanks so much

Hello guys! I hope I'm posting in the right section of the forum.
Here I go: I am a new and kinda prown owner of a HTC Sensation. After I debranded it, I'd like to instal a software package containing Romanian Language.
Because I'm a newbie when it comes about Android (using since 201 Nokia), I got stuck in some, childish (maybe) questions.
So, What STOCK Rom do I have to install after installing 'RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208857_signed' in order to be able to have Romanian menu.
The second q: Do I need to S-OFF my phone everytime I installl a stock ROM?
And the last one: there SO versions are newer, the bigger their nomber is (RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2 is newer than say...RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.1?
Thanks in advance guys, keep up the good work!

you can flash any rom that have romanian menu..
2. You need to reboot after flashing roms
3.yup guess so
Well, that's easier to say than do (4 me). Which ROM do u reccommend that contains Romanian language, or how can I see if it does or not?
Thank you a lot dude!
LE: So, all I have to do is to download the sowtfare version containing romanian language (that u will hopefully provide) and install it. No need 4 s-off-ing (whatever that means) again?
Any1?!

Where to find HTC Tianxi ROM

Hi everyone,
Please can anyone tell me where to find a good and stable ROM for flashing my HTC Tianxi T9188. My brother brought it back from China and left it with me. Unfortunately, I dont understand the Chinese language it came with and need to flash in an English ROM to be able to use the phone.
Its a shame that I have such a nice phone but cant use it due to the language issue.
Please HELP!!!

Well I was actually hoping that you could point me to a link where I can download the ROM from. I have been searching through google but haven't really found any good one so far.
Please help!!!
HTC Tianxi is the China only released version of the HD2. Some differences - CPU, RAM and TD-SCDMA. To me this seems a slightly lower spec'd phone than the HD2.
Check out pdadb.net - run pdacomparer. Doubt there would be any other language version's. At your own risk you could try some HD2 - built roms or ICS Andriod roms.
Thats the problem tx. I was hoping I culd get an English ROM for the HTC Tianxi T9188 and not have to experiment with the HD2 ROMs, considering that both phones have different hardwares. Thats the risk I dont wanna take cos of the possibility of bricking the phone. I did come across an Android ROM though but I can see CHS in the name of the ROM which tells me that it is still a Chinese ROM all the same.
Another problem I am facing is flashing the HardSPL for the Tianxi. It us using SPL 1.27.0000 and I cant find a hardspl flasher which is compatible with it. I have searched here and in other forums and Google and any other place you can think of, still nothing. Have tried the ones I have seen online and always met an error. Any help here will be most appreciated.
And thanks for taking your time to respond.
Check out thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
on SPL,SSPL,HSPL,HSPL2.
If you have SD Card try loading (SD version) in the root and (MAGLDR) boot etc. If that works then it may take NAND versions.
Other than experiment, sorry cant be of more help.
I have tried all the hardspl flashers I can find in the thread you gave ... from HSPL to HSPL4. Non of them could work for the Tianxi. All gave the same BAD ID error and wont flash the HardSPL.
Please help me anyone ... I am getting frustrated by this
Moved to proper forum
Mr. Clown, could you kindly point me to the new forum link where you moved it?
Thank you.
