Screen shot on android - Vibrant Themes and Apps

How do take a screen shot on android without root?

You can't. The only way is through the ADK.
Google it.

I think the user above means SDK instead of ADK
Rooting is super easy a monkey can do it.
It shouldn't take you more than 1 minute to do it start to finish.
After you have rooted, download ShootMe from the Market.

Hmmm...thats odd, I was thinking that ShootMe worked without root. Well, at least it did for my EVO. Might be worth a try.

This used to work on non rooted phones. What happened? EVO on sprint.
It requires root access to work...prior to the OTA update there was an exploit that allowed it to work on non rooted phones but HTC blocked it
Working great on my Evo. For Evo owners: READ! It requires root. Always has. HTC hole allowed it to work before OTA.

Requires root ^^^^

I am not one of the uber l33t [email protected] types that rooted my phone so that I can dig into the inner workings of the operating system. I rooted my phone exactly for reasons like this.
If you're like me and hate not being able to install a program that you want to use.... Root your phone. It's really really really easy (really). If I did it, ANYONE can do it.

How did you install it? I tried installing it through Root Explorer on rooted stock and got a parsing error. Froyo and above only maybe?
Edit: Installed w/out issue using Root Explorer on my DROID. I can't believe there's still no Netflix queue management other than from 3rd party apps. Although once the streaming gets the "go" button, it'll be a slick app. I was given the option to resume an instant movie I was just watching on my Tivo but it started loading then took my back to the instant queue page.
The streaming failure has nothing to do with codecs. Netflix has a DRM protection implemented on the app that currently only supports a very limited amount of hand selected processors and firmware. In order to enable streaming were going to have crack the DRM. *braces for a long night*

Hey, np. Been wanting netflix fot some time myself, so I keep up on the state of things.
Here's the whole story(as I understand it). Netflix wasn't allowed to put out anything for android or any linux, due to lack of integrated DRM. The new chips that are coming out have a DRM scheme baked in at the hardware level.
What this means for us...gonna have to wait for someone to create a method to lie to the app, telling it that the DRM is present. Also, there will need to be a software based replacement for the DRM module, for decoding the stream.
You would think they would give up on DRM. If they can make it, someone will break it.

[ROOTED] Metro PCS Kyocera Hydro Life

Hi all I thought I would start a thread for this phone because I just successfully rooted mine! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE DRIVERS FOR YOUR PHONE + ADB DRIVERS INSTALLED! The only method I got to work was jcase's pwn method from the root with restore by bin4ry tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460). After that I installed SuperSU from the play store and voilà! Full root access!
Xposed framework + GravityBox work well.
If this method doesn't work, try Root Genius (you can find it in replies within this thread)(there is also our own forum over at androidforums). Some people have had success with it. And if you've already tried root genius, try this one. It seems this phone is tricky to root as different methods work for different people!
Awesome - I have this on T-Mobile and it's a decent little piece. I might try this as well; thanks for the post. Seems it's the only thread on XDA so far about this phone.

Haha all we got is the stock ROM. And a locked bootloader. The method in the OP should work to root it tho. Then you can get an app like link2sd or titanium backup to uninstall system apps. Be careful what you get rid of tho, I just get rid of the metro/T-Mobile stuff and google+, play books, play games, etc.

All of the google apps and metro/T-Mobile stuff should be safe. Anything that you can search for on the play store and find should be safe. Anything that's not on the play store I just freeze and leave there since this phone isn't cramped for storage space and I don't know if there is a way to flash a restore as of yet.

I'm sorry, I should have noted ALWAYS LEAVE THE STOCK LAUNCHER ON YOUR DEVICE!! This is just to be sure that if for some reason your new launcher of choice gets messed up or you accidentally uninstall it, you'll still have a 'backup' launcher. Otherwise you'd be screwed and have to find a way to restore.

com.tmobile.pr.adapt able to force Super SU to grant root access?

Is it possible for com.tmobile.pr.adapt to force Super SU to grant root access?
I noticed it got access and I dont remember ever allowing it. This happened after using Ti backup to uninstall T-Mo My Account.
I've since uninstalled the ctpa (for short) diagnosticware so the visible and immediate problem is gone.
But I'm afraid I tripped the root notification to T-Mo servers. I'm also scared that Super SU was somehow compromised.
Does anyone know more about this?
I have LG-H901 (T-Mobile V10), bootloader unlocked, rooted w/ TWRP and Super SU installed. Factory ROM has not been changed.
it shouldnt force su access, I used xposed and root cloak to hide it from asking for root
I made a copy of it with titanium back up and deleted it, no problems.

I've heard that rootcloak doesnt do much of anything since it doesnt make Android Pay work and doesnt seem like I need it for this if I've deleted all the Tmobile stuff. Plus I dont have any other reason to install Xposed that I can think of for the V10, though I've used it on other phones for some cool features. Or is there something I'm missing?

I realize that, but if you search the threads, all it does is report analytics / diagnostics / and modified systems to t-mobile, we've known this since the phone debuted 2 months ago. And if you are that concerned about system integrity, freezing it doesn't break dependencies, like both moving or removing would.

Some people may at one point want to accept an OTA update.
In that case you need an unmodified system with this garbage intact.
I agree that it is a useless piece of spyware garbage.
However there may still be a need for it for some people at some point.

Lots of root threads - what's the skinny on root for the Verizon V10 with 6.0?

I bought my V10 last June and for the first time since my HTC EVO decided that I wouldn't root my phone. I have now come to the conclusion that I need root and after logging in to XDA (after almost a 1 year absence) I see that there's apparently no root for this phone.
Obviously I'm on Verizon - what are my choices for an alternative phone that is in the same class as the V10 but can be rooted? Or is a root solution for the V10 closer at hand?

Yes if it upgrades to 7.1.1 which they do in the store... Buy it from Google
If I had twrp port it might be easy to root.. Doesn't seem to exist.. I asked for it already on another thread, but no email.. I'm going to reach out to friend on hangouts and see if he feel like making one. He doesn't have this device so I'm not sure if he's interested.. The theory is this simple.. " fastboot boot twrp.img." once booted into twrp, we can flash twrp. Had to do it for my g4 and it works.. Also, I've seen twrp on locked bootloaders so that shouldn't be an issue.. No one's mention anything about that method though..
I think this died. Not complaining but it's been quite a few months since it was announced root was coming.
Good thing I'm rooted on 5.1.1 still. Would love to see root for Marshmallow (or greater) though.
I think Verizon and their hardware vendors should be aware that I will not buy a product or service if I can't have a rooted phone.
Looks like a Google phone next go around, much I don't want to go that route.
