Stored Wireless Network Passwords - myTouch 3G Slide Android Development

Does anyone know what file and what encryption (type 7 or MD5) are the wireless network passwords stored. I would like to recover this file/ or passwords before I flash the new Froyo build.
If this is straight forward I will write an App to pull this file/Passwords.
Thanks in advance,
X

Wrong section. In fact, this is probably the wrong forum all together... Why would you need to pull the network passwords for your own network? Just enter them again after flashing. If you don't know your network info, reset your router.

You see I have an extensive list of Wi-Fi networks that I traverse (i.e. Mother's house, GF's house, several buddies, work...) This list seems to grow the longer you run a ROM. This has always been one of the down sides to flashing frequent ROMs. In fact, I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets frustrated having to do this all the time.
WRT your comment about the placement of this post: I plain on creating my first app using Google Inventor. And this is the development section.. Seemed like the logical placement.
Edit: Actually, now that I think about, I will look to backup/ restore all Wi-Fi configuration.

Although the App Inventor seems like a simple WYSIWYG app creation tool, I think it would be perfect for something as simple as what the OP is trying to create.
I also would find this useful though as I also have a large list of access points I hate having to reprogram after every flash.

I'm with ya. I had a nice long list of APs with passwords saved and would love to be able to restore them FROYO does this automatically with its backup and restore settings. I agree this is a great idea.

Don't get me wrong... I can certainly see a use for this kind of app now that I see the reason behind it, but I consider App Inventor to be a joke.

I agree. App inventor is a great idea, but at the same time, it's a disgrace to all of the developers who have put so much time and effort into creating quality apps.
I plan on using AI myself, but it will never replace the quality apps that are on the market, and I have nothing but respect for those guys.

They're stored in "/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf". They're not encrypted at all, in fact.
You do need root to read this file, though.

Netflix App

Looks like it's almost finished. The app is ready and it'll let you sign in and manage your queue but when you attempt to stream a video an error pops up with:

So I attached the apk of the file that I installed if anyone wants to play around with it.
EDIT: I noticed that there are a few of these posts already and if the forum or senior moderator wouldn't mind merging these, I'm fine with that. The search feature wasn't working during the time of posting.
EDIT 2: I decompiled the app and attached it. If anyone is savvy enough to take a look, perhaps you can figure out why it's not running. It might be something on Netflix's end... or it might be DRM, it might be something in the .prop files... who knows.
So, Netflix.apk is the app
Netflix.zip is the decompiled app.
I let myself get too excited when I installed this afternoon the app itself should would but with the lg phone. Lets hope someone could crack this

i get the same error when i try to watch instantly... signs me in just fine though
Anybody try it with WiFi? Just saying. I remember reading that it was going to be a WiFi only app?
Is someone going to be working on a work around for this app?? I read it was not going to work unless you had the correct hardware in the phone.
It doesnt give me no errors it just keeps saying loading on my tab and vibrant when i try to watch a movie

The DRM required for the streaming to work likely isn't present on our phones and may never be?
Could the issue be related to our Vibrants not passing a DRM check? I'm pretty t I read when that a DRM check was needed to stream with Netflix (and also the upcoming Hulu app).
Maybe someone can rip out the coding the requires the check.

I tried it and I got a black screen as if it was about to stream video, then it backed out to the main Netflix screen.
Tried it again and got that notorious server error.
Seems like it is checking for something first.. likely DRM stuff. Hopefully they just get on top of it and release the damn thing!
Anyone try changing the build.prop to a phone model with the proper hardware for the drm check?

Common creator! Fix this baby up for us so it works! Then make a Netflixblackout.zip to go along with it as well! lol!
Love your keyboards
I decompiled the app and attached it to the OP.
I honestly don't think that it's DRM.
If you look at the code specifically strings.xml and lookup the error that you get (1005) here is what it says:
<string name="NFErr_MC_OpenDeviceFailure">Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems persists please visit netflix.com. (1005)</string>
It looks like a DRM error would be 1008 and 0028.
But we could be getting more than one error too.
May be it in the build prop that needs editing???

It could be account related... perhaps an account has to be "cleared" with netflix to stream to android?
...how about a more...hopeful scenario?
it could be that the app simply isn't pointing to the right place to stream a video from.
Reverts back to the main app screen when trying to stream.

[Q] SMS and Phone sharing from Android?

SMS, maybe, but I don't believe there is anything inside of this that will allow over-the-air calls outside of Wifi + Skype (or something similar).
sms
well under the message app it says if you have a webOS phone you can bt it and send one but I couldn't by my evo it sucked
Could be possible via DeskSMS. koush's new android/web-app
If Mightydesk can do SMS via the browser, then I'm sure it can be implemented.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/22/mightytext-pushes-messages-and-incoming-call-alerts-to-your-comp/
Calling can be implemented easily using the Bluetooth headset profile.
any Motorola phone with PhonePortal can do this. I send and receive text messages from my atrix 4G on my touchpad
What about a Htc phone ?
I would also be interested in doing this from my android phone!
so has anyone managed this? Would love this for my desire. I can tether but that's diffrrent.

that's what I'm going to setup when I get home from work today. DeskSMS, besides forwarding texts to Gmail, can also forward them to Gtalk, which WebOS' messenger app supports. So it should (in theory) work nicely

[Q] Connecting TP to HTC EVO 3D
I was wondering if there was anyway to connect the htc evo 3d to the touchpad for text and calling seeing as how no webOS phones are really out.....

Probably not exactly what you're looking for but you can use wireless tether on the evo 3d and then connect the touchpad to the network and run skype. Not sure of any other way.
I wonder if that will even work, because TP will not see the Ad-hoc network created by evo 3d.

The evo 3d is capable of running in infrastructure mode. I don't know if the built in tether app will put it in that mode, but as smark72 already pointed out, there are other tether apps that will do so.

No Reason Why this Feature is not available from ICS or Chrome beta browser for ICS 4

but yet it still is. :| providing further reason to stay with Windows.

Why not just use another method? There are tons of apps for android to allow you to make free phone calls from the prime. There might be a way around doing it through browser. I never really messed with the Google one.
I wouldn't be waisting my time complaining here if there was other alternates. there is no other service out there that offers free VOIP phone calls through the US except Google's phone through Gmail.
Google Gmail phone is the first of its kind that I seen since the old phonefree.com and Net2Phone offering free VOIP calls, although those had limits, Google has no limits for US callers.
For the life of me I can't figure out why this is not available to a Google Android operating system. If they at the very least designed Chrome Beta like the Windows Chrome browser, the service would be available. But no!!! Chrome Beta and ICS Browser are like imitation browsers compared to the browsers on the Windows platform that these services are usable on.
Because carriers dont want you to be able to easily make voip calls they want you to buy more minutes from them. Androids sucess and profitability depends on the carriers selling phones running android.

The "gmail phone" you speak of is an extension of google voice. Sign up for a google voice number and login with your google id on the grooveip app.
Voila! free calls to US/Canada from anywhere in the world.
I live in Dubai and use it to call my GF in New york all the time.
Gee, it's too bad there are no alternatives that allow you to make free VOIP calls.
Something like SIPDroid sure would be handy. Well if you can't get SIPDroid on your Prime maybe there is another possibility (or 5).
Maybe if you'd ask about something rather than just gripe and moan, assuming that it can't be done, you'd get some assistance rather than a dose of sarcasm.
You might not want to try to set up a SIP provider though. It will take some research, some reading, and you might have to <gasp> Google for some information. Nevermind the possibility of searching on XDA for information.
People say I'm critical, but that's part of critical thinking. That's a skill you may want to try to develop.

Network Spoofer lets you change websites on other people’s computers from an Android phone. After downloading simply log onto a Wifi network, choose a spoof to use and press start.
Please note that there is no intention for Network Spoofer to include any malicious features. This application is a fun demonstration of how vulnerable home networks are to simple attacks, with permission of the network owner - DO NOT attempt to use Network Spoofer on any corporate or other non-residential networks (eg. at school, university). It becomes very obvious when Network Spoofer is being used on a Network, and use of Network Spoofer will be considered malicious hacking by network administrators.
You can send every web page to a specific site, flip all images, or just pass all network traffic through your phone so you can... have a look. Obviously, this app has malicious potential, so be good, folks. There is also a hefty 99MB download associated with the app. you also need root
Wifi killer: with this app you can disable internet connection for a device on the same network. So if someone (anyone) is abusing the internet wasting precious bandwidth for a Justin Bieber videoclips you could just kill their connection and stay happy with a full bandwidth just for yourself.

**NEW** Native Hotspot hack for Sprint LG G3

After spending a lot of hours trying to get this to work, the method is very simple.....
Make sure to Thank @c45h2012 HERE
Apparently go here for this info. It's already been posted. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55707846
All credit goes there.
Disclaimer: You are doing this on your own. You MAY incur extra charges if Sprint see's unusual activity on your Plan.
Important:
1. This will only work on LTE/eHrpd. It does not work on CDMA. So in Settings if you have it on CDMA it will not work.
2. You will need to reapply this after a profile/prl update.
3. It will still work after a reboot
Let's get started:
1. Download "Shortcut Master Lite" from the Playstore
2. Open it and select "Search"
3. Type in "APN"
4. Select the 4th setting
{

}
5. Select "Internet"
6. Scroll to "APN type" and type in "dun".
7. Select "Save"
8. Profit!!!!
There is nothing else we need to do. No extra files , nothing
This works with Barren, Stock ZV4 and Xposed. I'm not sure about the other ROM's.
Again, Make sure to Thank @c45h2012 HERE

You won't see an ehrpd option. You'll see that under About>Status, I think.
If you select CDMA in network settings, that's all you'll get. If you select LTE/CDMA it'll select whatever is available in your market/area. CDMA/EHRPD/LTE.

2. I never saw that thread before. Not everybody visits all the forums.
I have ALWAYS given credit when I get info from somewhere.
3. As you might be able to see, I MADE THIS FROM SCRATCH. And I made it for Sprint. If I had known it worked, or was posted in other forums, do you really think I'd take the time to write this out myself?
After rewriting this 4 times now.... I'm tapping out.
Edit. Op updated
