phonebook problem - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi everybody!
When using phonebook app on my e10i i noticed that it saves the new contacts in the phone memory instead directly on the SIM.....does anybody know and maybe fix this issue??

That's by design, and is how pretty much all smartphones work (since the SIM's phonebook can only hold names and numbers, not all the extra data like addresses, emails, photos, etc)
There's an app on the market called Contact2Sim that says it'll copy your contacts onto your SIM, if you want to use it in a different phone

I use that app. I like it.

Contact list FRUSTRATION

I seriously hate the new contact list.
I am having an issue with it not sending my calls for certain contacts directly to voicemail (an option in the contacts settings). This ALWAYS worked perfectly in 1.6.
I think it has to do with the new stupid contact list having like 100 million different classifications.
When i restored my contacts they all became SyncML contacts. Maybe the phone has a bug that only allows that setting to work if its in your "phones contact" list.
When I create a new contact manually, this becomes a "phone contact" and not a SyncML contact. So now I have some contacts with a SycnML classification and some with a "phone contact" one. How do I make them all the same? Will the contacts all restore if I have to reset the phone?
Another issue is that all of my old phone contacts had no dashes in between the numbers, and when I create a new one there are dashes. It looks messy and unprofessional.
Edit, I figured this one out. Not adding a + before the number does this.
Who made this bull**** software? I am a pretty smart guy (I assume) and this contact list makes NO SENSE.
Help? LOL
bumpity bump
I don't think anyone wants to help because of how much you complain.

SMS handling

I find SMS conversation threads amusing and useful enough but this is my work phone as well and sometimes I need to save and be able to easily access certain messages.
On my last phone (not Android, no SMS conversation) I could create folders, eg 'Saved' or 'Work' and when I had read an SMS I could delete or save to folder. I acknowledge that this is terribly old fashioned etc but it's functionality I would quite like to retain. Backing up doesn't meet the 'easily accessible' side of it.
Could anyone suggest an app that handles SMS in this way?
Cheers

handcent sms?
http://www.handcent.com/
Yeah, thanks. I'm using that and it just doesn't have that folder, save an individual SMS functionality that I need.

[Q] SMS App?

Hi everybody,
does anybody know if it is possible to install a SMS client on the GT 10.1v? Being it a 3G Tablet it should be possible to activate the SMS messaging ... I had been using the same SIM-card in a Samsung Netbook where it was possible to write text messages. The tab didn't let me install GO SMS.
Thanks!
I've installed WhatsApp and it want to send a SMS message before it starts. When I enter a correct phonenumber, WhatsApp presents an error telling me that it's not possible to send an SMS.
It appears the current firmware doesn't support SMS/Phone operations. Perhaps a custom rom in the near future will solve this problem.
I've tried to use Go SMS & Go Dialer, but without any luck.
Google talk floating around xoom forum can send SMS but replies are going to my phone

I use sync SMS on my 10.1 wifi tab... install on tablet then on phone... must have a dropbox account. Works really good.

using dropbox seems like a poor way of doing it..
I just started on one myself that does it through bluetooth
that's also not a perfect way of doing it but it seems better than dropbox to me
then again, I have no idea if it will work through bluetooth. I literally just started on it yesterday so I basically have zero functionality so far.
I just saw that HTC Flyer on Android 2.4 does have an SMS App working. Couldn't we just rip the app of the Flyer and install on the GT?
How could we get the messaging (SMS) app from the Flyer to try?
My GO SMS works nicely!

@fscherz
Sorry if I am being dumb - you got GoSMS working on a 10.1V? How comes? I have in the meantime only managed to get it installed. But - as predicted - it would not send any SMS.
I can send SMS using the messaging function in the message app.
textab is the best sms app out there in my opinion. unless your trying have a set number to the tab and text from it.
Sign up for a Google Voice number for free. ( google.com/voice ) Make sure you go through the settings and don't have it forward texted to your current cell phone number but just to the email address used to sign up.
Use the Google Voice App from the market or the one already preinstalled on the Tab. Log in using your Google Voice account and start texting using your new Google Voice phone number to any cell phone number.
DeskSMS is the ONLY way to go for SMS from a tablet, desktop, or web interface. Doesn't require an active bluetooth connection or Dropbox. It just forwards all my SMS to my Google Talk account, and I can reply directly within Google Talk on my Tablet or Trillian on my PC.
Google voice now supports tablets. I use it all the time to text from the tab.

[Q] Phone is unable to link the tel. no. with/without +[country code]

My phone has problem between sms and phone caller/receiver display after flashing ownhere rom from http://bbs.gfan.com/android-3001188-1-1.html
For example, I have a friend called Apple, her number is 91234567.
1. for incoming call from Apple, my phone can display "Apple" is calling. However,
2. for incoming SMS from Apple, my phone only displays as "+85291234567" instead of "Apple". (Mobile service operator always add country code for incoming SMS which is normal.)
If I edit Apple's contact to +85291234567, the problem reversed:
1. for incoming call, the phone displays as "91234567" instead of "Apple"
2. for incoming SMS, the phone displays as "Apple".
What can I do? I don't have such problem when I am using stock rom. Thanks!
can anyone help? Thanks!

the behaviour of phone dialer log is same as phone caller display, it shows "91234567" without +852. So that it displays as "Apple", not "+85291234567".
Do you have separate contact lists enabled from the contacts app?
Ie. Maybe contacts saved to phone memory are with +xxxxxxx and those saved to google account are as "apple" and no "+" ?.... Or similar

nope, all contacts are saved to my google account.
Still, Might be worth double checking though,..... contacts / menu / more / display options, and ensure only Google is checked. Ensure any Sim, phone, exchange is unchecked.
Sorry can't think of anything else right now, will post back if do.

I am very sure it is not due to duplicated contact on phone/SIM/Google and I have already set it only display google contact. I don't have such problem in stock rom. My stock ROM is a Hong Kong rom, and I meet such problem after I flash ownhere rom which is from mainland China. The contact itself doesn't have problem. it is the phone recognizes the number with/without country as the different contacts.
Thanks!

[Q] best app for free text messages (instead of sms)?

I'm looking for an app which allows free exchange of text messages, as a replacement sms (which cost money).
ebuddy xms looks ok but it requires a ton of permissions, which I don't like.
I don't need something too fancy, just simple text messages. Ideally should also be available for iphone/BB/nokia so it could be used with many friends.
TIA
Free text messages ? Do you mean free messanger?
I mean something which allows to send an "sms" which will popup on the friend's phone, but which is free.
messengers are good for chats and conversations. I just need something to quickly send a few lines of text now and then.
tel me wich is good msg application i send fast and free
Search google play for 'Handcent sms'

Thanks. Please see my original post: I'm looking for a *free* replacement to sms. Handcent is an alternative to the stock sms app, but the sms it sends cost money.
My bad, I misread.
Try google
