So I'm currently with Tmobile and have an unlocked HTC HD2 running energyrom and Froyo 2.2. Android on HD2 is my first experience with android but thus far it seems to do everything wm does but just a bit better and with some of that shine and polish that iOS is famous for. I just wanted to ask if there are any HD2 users who thought the upgrade to the Vibrant was worth it despite losing flash, .3 inches of screen and better build quality especially when the hd2 can already run android? (not perfectly...but it's getting there.) I'm also a bit wary about upgrading to it due to samsung's legacy of awful support and the myriad of issues the phone already seems to have (battery drain, gps, bad reception, etc.) Any former hd2 users care to chime in?
Here are my thoughts on changing phones. I came from a stock rom HD2 so keep that in mind for my comparison.
I really liked the physical design of the HD2 but wish the software had performed better. Like many people I was having data disconnect issues with the phone and frequent lockups prior to the update. Once the update came along the lockups seemed to have diminished (not eliminated though) the lockups but I was still having issues with losing the data connection (also suffered from the audio lag that never got resolved). Unfortunately the update also brought along a serious touch screen sensitivity issue that ultimately was the deal breaker for me. At times I just wanted to throw the phone out of the window when trying to type.
The touch screen on the Vibrant is worlds better than the experience I had on the HD2. I only miss the larger screen when browsing the web but the experience doesn't feel like a big difference over all. As for build quality, the HD2 is certainly more solid and gave an overall feeling of higher quality. I do not find the Vibrant to feel as cheap as some of commented but the HD2 wins that comparison hands down.
I do miss the flash occasionally, primarily since it made a great flash light. My experience with using the flash for actual pictures is small but overall I have found the Vibrant performs relatively well in low light situations so far.
I am happy I made the jump to the Vibrant but I can't help but think that if my data connection issues and screen sensitivity were fixed it might not be so clear cut.
As for updates, it is a bit early to see if Samsung has turned over a new leaf with the launch of the Galaxy S line. I am very curious to see how well the Vibrant performs after getting the Froyo update since it already feels like a snappy phone to me.

You only think it does...
Did you use any of the GPS applications that actually show whether your device has locked onto any of the satellites? If you did, did you every see a satellite lock on more than one or at most two satellites? FYI: you need a lock onto 3 to get a proper GPS location.

This should not be a blanket statement, mine and quite a few others on here have a fairly good working GPS on their phone and I am running stock except for rooting the phone.
Yes it could be better and hopefully an update is coming sooner than later but it's perfectly usable for me, especially outdoors. Indoors is where it needs the help.
had the HD2, didn't like it on a number of levels, primary was Win Mo -gave me a headache. Screen on the HD2 was nice but the samsung's is in a class by itself - so nice, including touch responsiveness etc, that i'm debating keeping the vibrant in spite of the GPS issue - like the earlier poster said - it's flaky at best right now, and it is an important feature to me. The fact that i'm debating or trying to convince myself to keep it in spite of the lack of reliable GPS should tell you everything.
as to the screen size, i actually like the samsung's size better - the HD2 i almost felt like i was holding a paperback book up to my ear. The samsung seems to be the "right" size, plus it's thinness makes it feel even more comfortable in your hand - i didn't expect that

there's a decent free app on android market called "color flash" that turns your screen totally white for use as a flash light - not as bright as the HD2's flash , but the app comes close in terms of lumens, it's just not as focus'd as with the HD2, but still very useable - went outside on a dark nite, steps below me were total darkness w/no moon, and the color flash app gave me enough lite to see the steps - and not too bad on battery drain - i ran it for five minutes and only measured about 2-3% of battery life

that is a ridiculous statement. I use my GPS every night I drive my car (SpeedHUD) with NO issues at all.

Thanks for all the great replies, I think for now I'm going to just wait and see how that gps issue turns out because I am awful at directions and thus google navigation is pretty important for me. I actually use tomtom on my hd2 currently and that works fine. The lack of flash is disappointing but nothing a dollar store led keychain can't solve right? It really is a shame that samsung put out a phone with such great hardware but then botched what is a vital feature to many people. So for now it's the waiting game for me I suppose. However, feel free to keep posting replies for any other potential hd2 owners thinking of upgrading. Thanks again!

lol. my gps works fine (equivalent or slightly worse than my g1), except when i'm inside my work building. and checking sat connections, i see 12 satellites with 8 connected.
I came from an HD2(with android installed) but The Vibrant is still much better on a number of levels.
THe HD2 is bulky, is not a native android device, doesn't have such a nice screen, can't natively record 720p video, and does not have TV-out!
The Speaker on the HD2 is too bright(sounds real cheap), while the speaker in the Vibrant has a better overall sound.
Oh, the Vibrant is faster and has a better GPU.
The only thing i did like from the HD2 was the dual LED flash.
Remember I had a HD2 with both Android and WinSlow.

I don't think I really have to go over which OS is better. So in closing, the HD2 isn't even worth getting even if you intend on loading Froyo on it...stay away.

My reaction was the same when I saw the title.
I've owned the HD2 for some time and absolutely hated it. It's heavy, bulky, slow, poor touch response, windows *barf*, even when on froyo it wasn't the same.

CPU: No comparison
That's just my opinion. I wouldn't even think twice about which phone to get.

Clockspeed does not tell you how fast a processor is. This is probably the single largest misconception in the realm of computing. Clockspeed tells you how many clock cycles are performed per second, but it doesn't tell you how much work (on average) the processor performs per clock cycle.
A 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU is much faster than a 3.0 GHz Pentium D processor despite the fact that the Pentium D runs at a higher clockspeed. The Pentium D is performing more clock cycles per second, but the Core 2 Duo is performing significantly more work per clock cycle. The result is that the Core 2 Duo does more work in a given amount of time than the Pentium D does (is "faster").
While the Hummingbird and Snapdragon CPUs are running at the same clockspeed, performance can't be directly compared that way because they are different architectures, and have different characteristics when it comes to how much work (on average) they can perform per clock cycle.

The Snapdragon chipset in the HD2 does have a GPU...it just isn't as powerful as the one in the Hummingbird chipset.
I have both phones sitting next to me right now... I like the samsung, but I've only been using it for 2 days, so I am not really used to it yet... one thing (I have no idea why) on the Vibrant, I can't get emails to come automatically like Hotmail... even tho I have it set to check every 10 minutes, I have to refresh manually to get them and the folders are don't sync with the server

I disagree... the GPS on my Vibrant hasnt given me any issues yet.
Having used the HD2 for some time I made the switch to Vibrant and I couldnt have been happier. I dont even miss the flash honestly (personal preference, if i wanna click pictures in the dark i'll carry a proper camera).
What I do miss about the HD2 is
a) ofcourse the build quality (vibrant is relatively plasticky)
b) the TODAY screen. I just loved the ease of the today screen. Wish there was a way to get that to Vibrant. :-/

Hmm... I actually had never tried the compass (got the phone 15 days back) but it works fine for me.

I took a look to the thread,and everybody is saying the Galaxy is way faster and 100 times better, so there is no point for us X10 user to go there and tell that the X10 is better.There are a lot of threads here about the X10 Vs. Samsung ,Desire etc. I choosed the X10 with the best build,design,and almost if not the same specs as the other phones around.(and multitouch is not an issue for me).
So choose what you like.
Being a thread in the Galaxy S forum, I am aware that people there might be a bit biased. However, I must say that the Samsung does feel snappier so apparantly the better hardware aren't just there to look good on the specs. The display also looks good but I'm a tad worried about the pixel density on the Samsung after being an X10 owner (which I still am, for that matter).
However, you don't get better tests than from people using it every day, so I was wanting to hear pros and cons from people who have or have had both devices.

EDIT: In the other thread, I've made a list of what I think are the pros and cons of each phone. However, I've only read about the Galaxy S and spend a little time with one in a store.
I'd wait for the 2.1 upgrade and see how they compare then.... I'm anticipating some significantly noticeable improvements...
My contract ends on september the 26th, so I can't get the new phone until the day after. I hope the 2.1 update is release at least a week before that. The same goes for the 2.2 update for the Galaxy, which is to be released soon(ish) aswell.

First the bad
GPS is currently not very good, sometimes it works well and usually gets a fix very quickly but all too often it will randomly put you facing the wrong way if you stop in a queue and sometimes will not get a signal or lose signal
The screen although perfect size and excellent multitouch response uses a strange subpixel layout which when you look closely you can see the individual leds this makes the text fuzzy when small and also makes edges fuzzy (most people don't seem to notice this but I look close at my screen)
no camera flash - night vision mode is good though and prob gives better pics of outdoor night images than most - not good for close/indoor night stuff

Im not gonna say a lot here (I'm sure you have already heard loads) but I will say this is the fastest phone I have used, no other android I've used is as fast, good at playing games and general use. It's a nice size - seems small even though it has a large screen (which contary to what I say above is the best screen I have used on any phone - just wanted to let you know it is not perfect - all amoled screens seem to have that effect)
Another big plus is that it's just about the most popular android phone there is and likely to be very well supported by Samsung and all of us.
It also has a few bonuses which you are unlikely to see on most other phones (tv out, free good apps from samsung, dlna, wifi tethering etc)
As you can tell the galaxy isn't perfect but it's the one I waited for so that's where my vote lies (especially if like me you like to play a lot of games many of the best need multi touch)
still you may have different needs than me, I suggest reading all the reviews you can find and trying them out if you can (try gsmarena for reviews I find them nice and detailed and generally unbiased)
EDIT - Just looked at your other post and see you already have a x10, my advice then would be to wait for the 2.1 update coming soon and see what you think, unless you have lots of money or can do an exchange relatively cheap then you might just wanna do that. Otherwise you might wanna hold out and see if anything even better comes out soon, im thinking 4.3" super high res dual core or 2ghz I'm sure they can't be too far off and your x10 should do until they do

very unbiassed reply..i'd like you to wait for some time... and compare both phones with upgrades.. every device has its pros and cons.. so know what you want out of a device and make your decision. possibly by that time something better than these two may come out in the market... theres no ending for this..
Id have to say that if the Samsung S had a decent flash (why they wouldn't include one is crazy), i would be pretty tempted to jump ship. They've already ported CM6 to it so the guys at Cyanogen must think its a worth while device and there support would be good enough for me.
galaxy is way better in almost every way. co-worker has it. played with it and from the first few minutes i knew that the galaxy s was a better phone. no question.
and every phone that came out or recently came out this year is moving on to 2.2 or even to gingerbread. x10 only going to 2.1? while 2.1 is better than 1.6, i'm still a bit disappointed.
The news of a psp phone intrigues me. If you like games I'd wait to hear more about that.

I cant speak for the actual Galaxy S model but I did have the Captivate for 28 days. I loved the screen and it did play Asphalt HD very well. The GPS was mostly uses less and I wasnt crazy about the soft buttons. The lack of a camera led or notification led is a real bummer.
I have to be honest though. The Captivate was the buggiest Android (oem build) I have ever used. There are ways to "fix" some of the bugs but the GPS and shut down/reboot seem to persist.
Every phone has issues but the Captivate had a couple that I just couldnt live with.
The X10 has been a completely different experience for me. Very well built and very stable OS. I am not sure if this is thanks to AT&T having a newer build or not. I have no regrets with switching to the X10.

+1 The led light and the notification led are very important to me. I agree with everything naplesbill said. Just to add a few more things, the screen on the x10 i think produces more realistic colors and thats with 16k atm so should be even better with 2.1 and 16m also text is sharper on the x10 vs the galaxy so if you browse and read things alot that is somthing to consider. The x10 is very stable and no lag like the samsung, its very well build and its beautiful. Overall great powerfull stable phone with unique looks. X10 hasnt let me down.

I currently have the captivate, all tricked out with custom roms, software, OC/UV, and ext4 and what not, and its smooth and beautiful. Has anyone had another high end device and switched to this? I'm just curious how it stacks up, and how you think this phone will be in the future. I know the captivate had a lot of issues when it was first out, but those were pretty quickly fixed (which I assume will be the same for this phone). I suppose one concern is that I had the backflip prior to the captivate, and I'm sketchy about motorola. They had the phone SO locked down it was ridiculous. And it turned out to be a huge flop and a POS. But anyways, opinions and advice would be hugely appreciated! Compared to other AT&T phones, the only other real competitors are the Inspire (not liking specs so much) and the captivate.

Had a cappy running Paragon 6 with 1.4 OC, my Atrix is way faster (and GPS actually works). It has DDR2 ram which makes it fly. One thing you notice is even with an OC on ANY single core phone you'll notice slow down when you are doing multiple things such as installing while doing something else or if something is syncing, with the Atrix these slow downs/bogs really don't exist. I am completely happy with my Atrix, do I wish I could load a custom rom/kernel and OC it right now? Hell yes, but even going from a totally pimped out cappy to this (Stock?) Atrix I'm more than satisfied. Also the fingerprint reader on the Atrix is awesome .
As far as the Inspire it was a decent phone, when it came out 8 months ago as the Desire HD. I had an Inspire before the Atrix and here's my personal opinions. I love the bigger screen (But the atrix has a higher res), it OC's to 1.8 ghz...that's about it. As for the bad, battery life is so-so to terrible...I had it so it only used about 1-2% an hour with the screen off BUT with the screen on it was like 20% an hour (Browsing web, gaming ext.) where the Atrix is like 10% or less an hour. Ram is ok, it's DDR vs DDR2 on the Atrix (Atrix also has 1 gig of ram vs 700+ on the inspire) and I see a difference. The speaker sucks on the Inspire and call quality was lower. As far as the 1.8 OC, it destroys the already weak battery this thing has AND it still bogs when multi tasking (No real way around this being a single core).
So like I said in all honesty the Inspire was a great phone 8 months ago when it came out, but vs the Atrix it just seems to fall in it's shadow. One other thing is Inspire has CM7 but 2.3 really doesn't have any major improvements over 2.2 (2.1 to 2.2 brought JIT which rocked) so I'd like to have 2.3 but it's kinda not a big deal IMO.
Hope this helps, this is just my .02 between the two but obviously I kept the Atrix past 30 days so I've made my choice.

Motoblur: it was absolutely TERRIBLE for the backflip. Although I think most of that was because it was underpowered. Can you turn it off? Do you like it? (I'm sure they've made changes) How does the phone handle it?
Oh AND, do you know if it uses the entire 1Gb of ram? I know that isn't the case in most phones.

In all honesty the inspire feels like the captivate should have out of the box except with worse battery and volume.
I'll be honest, motoblur sucks in my opinion, it isn't as bad as some people make it out to be but it still sucks lol. But since I was running custom roms on the captivate since forever I just loaded go launcher like I did on my captivate and used TiBu to freeze anything motoblur related and your good to go. It takes about 10 minutes to do this. I had a, backflop for about 2 days with 1.6 so I feel you on how slow it was. I'd say with motoblur it isnt sd low persay but you will notice it pick up with a new launcher and freezing apps.
As far as the screen, it is bright but not as sun burning bright as a captivate (I don't miss turning on the screen at 1am in bed and being blinded for the next ten minutes lol). I didn't have a problem with the screen change as the captivates colors are super saturated where as the atrix is a tad washed out, so it's personal preference. I do notice the screen resolution difference in movies tho, I feel the atrix is better. But I've also never ran into an issue where I couldn't see the atrix screen in the sun.
One other thing is the docking and hdmi you gain on the atrix, playing star fox 64 on a 50" tv in 720p with a miimote rocks lol.
The atrix does use all 1 gig of ram (more like 800 because the system reserves some like every other phone) and it's ddr2 not ddr like other phones which I think is why it's also so fast. Also since it has so much ram it holds like 20 apps in memory with 200ish always free so most common apps you load are instant. It's funny because I'll listen to pandora on the way to work at 8 and it's still loaded when I leave work at 4 (widget and all).

if you like to run custom roms and lots of hacks then the atrix is probably not for you, at least not yet until it gets unlocked but the atrix has a lot less problems out of the box than the captivate. Even without all the hacks you can can do all the essentials like rooting, removing bloatware, tethering and sideloading. You can freeze motoblur and use whatever launcher you want from the market.
i like the screen on the atrix more than the captivate. i didn;t like how you can see the pixels so easily on the captivate and websites looks so much better on the atrix. theres advantages to both i guess so you should just go to the store and compare the two to see what you like better.
as for the ram if you use app killer you will have 500mb free but im starting to think that this is unnecessary with the atrix. i used to get warnings on my captivate that i was running out of memory all the time but with the atrix i can have 20 apps open in the background and still have 300mb left.
Actually with the darky rom (or the kernel, idk which one implemented the mod) they made the the screen much more dim in the dark. So I don't have that problem anymore. But I do know what you're talking about.
And that's really awesome! I didn't realize the motoblur work-around was so easy!! I think I will have my mom get the Atrix, she isn't so technologically savvy, so she won't be worrying about modding it up (but once the mods are out, I will be tinkering). It sounds like the atrix is the truly superior phone as far as specs, and it will probably stand up against other newer phones for quite awhile compared to the Inspire, but I still really like the captivate for the organic LED screen. I prefer it over any lcd screen myself, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I think that I may wait a few months and get the Galaxy S 2 or see whatever else is out there at the time. So Im debating on buying the Galaxy S2 or the Atrix. Iv been a long time Galaxy S user (i9000 since the beginning) and as much as a disaster it was, I still held off and kept with it.
The thing I like about Atrix is gps works, super fast, (I never use GPS except for weather and I CANT see weather on my SGS cuz my gps doesnt work ) size of it, speed,
-Bad things are moto blur im not a fan of, bootloader locked (I have never flashed roms on my galaxy s, but iv done a ton of research and will want to in the future), no gingerbread
The things I like about SGS2 are unlocked BL (just like above), screen looks a bit nicer then motos. Gingerbread.
This I dont like - size is pretty big, and im afraid im going to be settling just like I did with the SGS
My buddy just bought the SG2 and says the wifi sucks, battery sucks, and the GPS still isent the greatest.
Now my question is, is this just a bad batch like the first galaxy S's? or is this going to be the future of the SGS2? To be honest Samsung left a bad taste in my mouth after my SGS
Wifi seems to have some compatability issues with certain routers and there is a bug for some people with battery drainage. So, as I see it, not the end of the world, but annoying for those affected.
GPS works fine for me at least.
Dunno which batch I got but I never had such a perfect phone before. Even get Gps signal indoors in 10 secs.....

Thanks for some of the comments guys, I know its hard to be un bias but im just trying to watch out for bad apples. The SGS was my first Android phone and it was great... for a while. I even went back to my Iphone cuz of the problems on my SGS (And im sooo anti Apple lol) and not to mention the 4 SGS's I had to exchange, what a nasty time in my life.

Same here. no problems at all.
Sounds like a troll. The wifi is very fast, with great reception. The GPS takes a reading in seconds and is extremely accurate, and the SGS2 runs all day on a charge - unlike my last phone, I don't need a way to charge this phone at work. Beyond that, it is fast to use, has a camera good enough so that now, I have a usable camera with me wherever I go, it plays games and movies to entertain the kids when needed, gives me full access to the Internet everywhere I go and it has a reasonably good connection to all communications outlets - social networking, IM, and email. Can any of these functions be improved? Sure, but the overall package is probably as good as any phone on the market and better than best-sellers like the iPhone 4. At the moment there is no better phone on the market, and this phone will hopefully remain useful for much longer than the HTC Touch Pro2 that it replaced.

Atrix, don't even think about it. I feel its one of the useless phone out there. I used it for some time. Screen is really awful. I hate to compare this with SGS1. SGS 2 is way up in the sky.

Quite simply because Samsung's quality control is terrible. I've had four Galaxy S Captivates and they've all had issues to varying degrees. I'm seeing the same issues with the SGS II as I did with the original: blotchy screens, yellow banding, and GPS issues. I attribute the complaints of poor battery life due to user interaction (read: constantly playing and running benchmarks) so that's more of a wash to me. But the hardware quality control seems to be right next to the original SGS: in the gutter.
Battery life is pretty good, 100% at 8am this morning & its now 10pm at 68%. Used for about 20 mins of calls, a bit of web surfing, downloaded a few apps & some general fiddling about.
I've had no problems with GPS. Initial fix took no more than a couple of minutes & it has performed like a champ.
The wifi though does seem to be quite weak.
I don't care if you get the sgs2 or not but the atrix is a piece of ****. It can't function right without motoblur.

Pretty tired of these "doomsday" posts with no general processing of the overall picture. This phone is fantastic, even with the minor bugs. This device makes the SGS feel like a beta prototype that should have never even been released.
Screen is gorgeous, web browser NEVER lags even when zooming/panning with flash on screen, GPS/Navigation is flawless, everything is just blazing fast with no hint of slowdown. So, if you think your last-gen Atrix is a keeper, by all means, keep using it.

I couldn't agree more. The Atrix had a LOT of potential but sadly was bogged down by a piss-poor implementation by Motorola. The big thing to note is: even though the SGS2 has superior hardware, it's not superior by much. Even this being the case, the SGS2's performance completely trounces that of the Atrix simply because of the optimization done by Samsung. I had one and ended up selling it because it just didn't feel like a next-gen phone to me and couldn't be happier w/ my Galaxy S2.
For me battery is great, screen fantastic, call quality spot on. in three weeks, no lag or crashing. Camera is superb, external speaker great. 2 & 3G sensitivity perfectly fine. 1080p video recording amazing. ummm...just trying to think of something negative..

Many of the problems commonly found in the SGS1 can be cured with a ROM change. Darky's has been great for the GF; wicked good battery life (2 days), FAST and GPS even works!
The update fiasco that was the Galaxy S1 was (imho) due to the US carriers. The GF purchased her SGS1 from Telus Early Jan, and I installed Froyo that night through KIES.
Basically what I'm getting at is the SGS got a bad rap in the states, but I honestly don't believe the majority of the blame lies with the manufacturer in regards to the update issue. The GPS was fixable, but I have a feeling it wasn't fixed due to the difficulty encountered in updating the US versions of the SGS.
In regards to the Atrix, I am biased when it comes to Motorola as I owned a Milestone (non US, non CDMA Droid1). Now that device is a PITA as the bootloader is encrypted and Motorola has truly been atrocious with the updates. I would never buy an encrypted device after that experience, as I can't really update my phone on my own.
Moved to it from a Desire running Ginger Villain. Phone's great, screen's great, no problems with WiFi or GPS.
Chalk me up as another person struggling for a negative.
Just upgraded from the SGS1 to the SGS2, it's sooooo much faster. My GPS locks indoors WITHOUT AGPS (insight of a window maybe 8ft away), I like TW4 and the new apps, a good camera and the build quality is better than the SGS1 but..... it took me a while to get used to the new screen, at first I found the contrast a little odd and the audio is not as good as the SGS1 (with Voodoo) and may never be.
Overall though a great phone and a good upgrade to the SGS1, I think this phone will do well.
Had the GS1, only problems with it. Since I've got this one, no problems at all. Frankly, the only issues are reallyyy minor and the phone's speed makes up for it
I've also upgraded from an original Desire to the SGS2, it's amazing. The wi-fi gets one less bar than my desire but the speed is still 18mbps as it was on the Desire. Can't fault it tbh, awesome phone

Okay, trying to find out all of the relevant things about this phone is a lot more difficult that it sounds, getting some real world experiences from the XDA community makes more sense. I am coming from a Samsung Vibrant, a device still without 2.3 from the manufacturer, that has always had pretty bad GPS, and leaves a lot to be desired..
Feel free to offer any of the positives/negatives you've found switching from your old device, compare, contrast.. anything goes. A few of my specific questions:
Battery life? Under heavy use, not just because you have a million apps with notifications every 5 minutes..
The ease of rooting and recovering if something goes wrong? I've never came close to bricking my old phone, but we have software we can flash(odin) the original software with in download mode-- does this phone have protections like that?
Development and community support? I've never owned an HTC, so I am wondering if they are better about updating devices? Does the dev community here have difficulty getting drivers and such to create new roms(or upgrade to ICS)?

See my signature. This phone suits my needs. The others have been good for what I needed them for (Sensation: similar but the Amaze has better everything; more RAM, better backlit illuminated camera, 2mp front camera, NFC, dedicated video/camera button), (Galaxy Note: has everything I needed, but camera was slightly slower and I have Tmobile and I couldn't handle the EDGE data only) I don't regret getting the Amaze. It is slightly heavier and thicker than the Sensation, but its solid.

Battery life is not that great if you are a power user. I have 3 batteries and it gets me through the day. I usually do not need to use the 3rd battery. I use the phone for practically everything. Gaming: Shadowgun 30mins-45mins, texting: 30-50 msg, Netflix streaming: Yo Gabba Gabba 30mins, Music playing via bluetooth headphone 1hr at the gym, phone calls via car bluetooth for 30mins, regular phone calls 30mins-1hr, surfing the web 20-40mins, xda forum for 30-40mins. With all those things, I use 2 batteries. If I cut the activities in half, I can use 1battery and it will last me around 12-14hrs. (My rooted sensation did better at 16hrs, but I don't mind the 2hrs sacrifice)

This phone is roughly a little over a month old. Don't expect the community to be brimming with new things, especially with the announcement of ICS. Most developers do not want to dev something that will last only 2 months and then have replaced by a totally new firmware (ICS). So there will be a slight lull during this couple of months. But there are some great developers like Xboarder56, NRGZ28, mike1986 and Revolution that is keep this phone relevant. I really appreciate these guys.

The build quality is top notch (at least initially) for HTC phones. IMO it is definitely better than the current Samsung phones out now. The Galaxy Note was a nice phone but you can totally tell that it did not use premium material for the overall phone. The glass looked nice, but it did not have Gorilla glass.

you can't really brick this phone because we're stuck with s-on. Usually bricking occurs when you mess with bootloader and radio. However, with s-on we can't change that unless its through an OTA update.
Rooting takes a minute, recovery is done with CWM recovery, so it should be familiar.
btw the vibrant sucks balls.
however the gs2 is supposedly a huge upgrade to all their crappy predecessor so you can check that out too if you're afraid of the change from samsung to htc.
You can always invest in a mytouch 4g or sensation to see how it's like. They're both AMAZING phones har har but of course they lack in hardware specs, but they're both better than any other samsung phones out there except the latest ones.

Let me start by saying I have been with Android since day 1. Started with the G1, then Mytouch 3g, the Nexus One, the Vibrant, the Mytouch 4g, and now the Amaze. I have not had a problem with any HTC phones and they are all still running today. The only phone I had any issue with was the one Samsung (also still running). I am not an HTC "fanboy" if something better came along I would certainly buy that.
The Amaze is the best phone T-Mobile offers right now. Compared to your Vibrant you'll be blown away with the quality of the phone the fact that everything works as it should.
HTC has a good track record of updating their devices OS's (Even the Mytouch 3g got Froyo before the Vibrant) and they do it OTA, no Kies. HTC's have always been quickly adopted by the development community for their relative ease of rooting and overall usage of "common" hardware that allows you to make ROM's for several different devices with very little modification.
Gingerbread is not a huge leap from Froyo. Most everyday users would be hard pressed to find a real difference. What will be different is going to HTC Sense from Samsung's TouchWiz interface. This will be a case of "It's up to you" totally depends on your own personal taste. I personally couldn't stand Touchwiz.
Battery life has been a little better than my MT4g was and seems to be about on par with or maybe a little better than my Vibrant. I have not owned a phone since my Palm Treo 650 that I didn't have to charge at least daily so I don't think there will be any surprise for you here.
Lastly, the screen. It is very nice and smooth. The resolution is higher than SGS2 therefore making it very crisp. It is not AMOLED, however, so you will not have the vibrance and deep contrast of the AMO screens. Your blacks won't seem as black and your bright colors will not jump out of the screen at you like the AMO screen does. Once again this is somewhat of a personal preference but compared to the Samsung devices this may be the only slight disadvantage.
This phone has the best camera ever offered in a smart phone. It has as much or more computing power of any phone on the market. The device is very solid, it just feels high quality and it has all of the bells and whistles that any smart phone out now has including NFC. I can't imagine this phone not exceeding any expectation you would have for a smart phone, unless you need a phone with a battery that lasts several days between charges, then you my friend have un-realistic expectations. Ha!
In a nutshell..
Good -
Sharp and Bright screen. Blacks levels are ok light bleed makes it worse. Still better than GS2 screen because of sharpness and IMO color accuracy.
Very fast camera. Dedicated buttons for camera and camcorder. They also wake the phone which is a huge plus IMO.
Eye pleasing . White model looks great IMO. If this were a super light/thin phone itd be a no brainer.
Bad-
Just big , heavy, and Fn bulky. Simply doesnt feel as good as other phones in the hand.
Lack of support. I give nothing but credit for wonderful work by Xboarder and others but take a gander at GS2 forums , or when Galaxy Nexus drops there forum. I just dont expect this place to ever be buzzing with the number of great tweaks , enhancements , and features other phones may get. ICS ROMS will likely be on other phones much sooner than Amaze.
Galaxy Nexus and its HD screen are going to be available soon. Just something to consider. HD screens will be more prevalent and the Amaze fast camera and gorgeous screen wont be as impressive by weeks end.

I've had a Nexus One for over a year (prior to that it was a Droid). I've also used the original Galaxy phone as well as the Evo.
I've been waiting patiently for a Galaxy Nexus for months as a replacement for my Nexus One. After seeing the camera shots - which are identical in shot quality to the (poor) camera on my Nexus One, I knew I could not possibly get a Galaxy Nexus. For me, camera quality is very important, since my phone *IS* my point-and-shoot, and the Galaxy Nexus camera simply blows. So I gave up waiting to get a GN.
I went into the T-Mobile store to play with the GSII side by side with the Amaze. Both are very good. For me, I went with the Amaze.
1. Build quality, IMO, is top notch. Yes the phone is heavy. To me it has a really solid feel. It's like comparing a S300 Mercedes to a Fiat - both may actually provide similar reliability, but the Mercedes feels far better built.
2. The screen is excellent. I suspect the GN will be better, but side-by-side with the GSII the Amaze had the better screen IMO. The GSII's AMOLED "pops" more but the improved resolution on the Amaze made the real difference.
3. The camera on the Amaze took better photos, and I liked the software better. The flash is amazing for a camera phone.
4. Battery life has been a huge improvement over my N1/Cyanogenmod phone. In normal use I go all day easily without charging. If you aren't playing games or heavily using Maps, I suspect you'll never need to "top up."
5. Great network performance. I haven't benched the speed, but the network feels 3X faster than my N1.
6. The new Sense is much better than TouchWiz IMO.
I want to say this is some great quality feedback, definitely hit everything I asked then some. I have a multitude of reasons for wanting to upgrade from my vibrant besides the "oh, shiney!" factor. Not a huge fan of touchwhiz, poor gps performance, lack of updates, no camera button, etc.. The biggest issue I have right now is price, I'm not willing to go contract with tmobile, and I don't want to pay the current full price like I did with my vibrant-- so if anyone decides they want to get a different phone and knock a fair chunk off of their amaze to get rid of it, bookmark me(I'm looking at you deleriousbb!)
The best points for me I've read about so far:
picture quality, I do want a good camera in my phone since it is the device I have with me always, who knows how many pictures I've lost by not having a dedicated button too..
I forgot it DID have a NFC- that was the original thing I was looking for when looking for a phone, trying to find one that is a little more future proof, this phone being the only one that I could find with hardware specs that sounded good.
Hell, it even has FM radio, something I wish I had a few times now..
Heavy- I actually LIKE this, my vibrant felt far too light, I want to have a solid feeling phone, and if it can double as a brick to be used for self-defense-- so be it.
Overall this sounds like a phone worthy of upgrading to(I really want to make sure I am upgrading) from my vibrant, more or less future proof.. the only thing it doesn't have that I see in the near future is a quad core processor, and those only interest me because of the battery savings they are supposed to offer.
I don't know about the s-on thing someone mentioned, that locks the radio too? That would be the only downside I've seen so far, changing radios has been the way I get the best battery out of my phone thus far, but I suppose I can deal(and have something to research). I also don't know much about how the qHD led screen compares to the vibrant, I was looking forward to better battery life because I know amoled screens use more power than most and using black reduced that..
I guess the only question that didn't get answered is if there is a phone out or coming out that people wish they had held out for? I am not impressed by the galaxy nexus- no external sd, no camera button, lower mp camera(yes I understand better quality sensor), and a few other things.. but I am a hardware guy, and this phone is superior in specs, and the feedback makes me feel good about that.
Also, is there anyone who thinks they may be trying to sell their phone anytime soon? I see myself buying this used rather than going contract(I hate contracts), so I am going to have to wait till there is a price I like more..

Check out XDA's market there are some pretty cheap phones there. usually range about $400 for amaze. So you can sell your vibrant for iono $150? on CL and pay $250 more for an amaze.. on contract you already pay $200?
So anyways I actually have a gs2 in hand right now so i'll add some things, although it is similar to what manmythlegend said.
the gs2's connectivity is actually on par with the amaze. I would say amaze's gps is slightly faster but gs2's wifi connectivity is a bit stronger and has quicker connection time.
amaze's camera is better, GS2 appears to have more options on the camera and has their own scenes to choose from, BUT it does not compare to the amaze's scenes at all. BTW I love how the amaze's dedicated button works even when phone is locked.
Screen. the super amoled compared to the amaze's screen reminds me of mt4g good and bad displays. gs2 looks awesome when you view it from every angle. Amaze reminds me of an old LCD when you view from different angles the blacks become like gray. However, I hate how gs2 looks all stretched out and it's not as sharp. think iphone 2-3 vs iphone 4. Amaze is defintely more uhh pretty, its like the UI and icons actually pop out at you compared to gs2' where everything looks blended in a bit.
Another factor, I do not like gs2's blue tint when viewing websites or anything with a white background, it actually feels bad for my eyes. oh and amaze's color seems to be more true.
But remember this, Amaze's battery right now is SO SO, so if you're a heavy user make sure to carry a spare or your charger around.
This may seem like a bias review, but I'm actually pointing out what I normally use on a daily basis that the gs2 would not do for me as the amaze would.

1. CAMERA (love amaze's camera and its scenes)
2. Web browsing or anything that has to do with a white background (XDA APP ahem), blue tint is no go for me..
3. base on user preference. I like the weight of the amaze. It tells me that my phone is in my pocket and that it's sturdy to carry around. The amaze's curve body makes it feels better in my hand.
There's something about the gs2 that just doesn't feel right. probably the width or depth of the phone, not exactly sure. I have about an average adult male size hands and the width of the phone might be the thing that is bothering me or that it's actually too thin that makes it feel weird, idk grip both phones, you'll see what i mean.
things that will bother you on the amaze:
the light bleed from the bottom (fixed with screen filter or other ways) and possibly the mediocre battery life.

My G2 has some wear and tear and TMo said they would do an early upgrade where I could get the Amaze for $250. I went to the store and played with the Amaze, and it was a pretty nice looking phone at face value.
I, too, wanted to wait for the Galaxy Nexus to drop on TMo, but I despise Samsung. If I had to use Odin every time I flash, I'd be pissed. HTC is perfect for people who love to flash roms, and I am that guy.

the SGS2 uses CWM recovery to flash too, you only need odin to install the recovery, after that you're golden.
I'm testing out the sgs2 for the day, and i'll update my opinion on it by the end of the day... so far battery life is good, camera is definitely no comparison to amaze, camcorder seems better though. wifi and bt connectivity is definitely stronger and connection time is quicker on the sgs2. HD games, amaze is better (more details). anything with fonts/texts goes to amaze.
It does support NFC btw, and also AT&T 4G bands.
Screen resolution is great, and its better than the S-AMOLED of the SGSII (which has some discoloration issues it seems).
The SGSII S-AMOLED has a very bright and saturated screen so the colors are shot at you, but if you are a pro as I think you are, and not a "oh, shiny!" fella... You know that definition is better and more important than brightness.
Unless you don't care, then that's different.
4G on the phone is pretty fast, and so its installing apps.
The 1.5 dual-core does not score that high on quadrant as the SGSII (especially the Exynos) does, but you know that they are to be taken with grano salis, and in everyday usage its pretty fast.
Camera is amazing, period.
Video quality is great, but sound recording should be much better on a device like this.
The HTC phone itself however, does have downsides:
Reception (its fair, but not amazing).
Battery, with heavy usage on 4G, will last you few hours. On 2G, a bit more. Phone does get warm by the way. Its not something that should worry you, but it is bothersome when you are on the phone playing a video or what have ya, you get a phone call and have to talk to a distance of the device.
The worst aspect is the earpiece. It is UTTER TRASH. It literally silences itself when you talk, and will "turn on" when the other party speaks, however, when that occurs, it will "eat" the first few milliseconds and you will get a broken up phrase (from the other party), 99.9% of the times. Seems to be an HTC issue btw.
The touchscreen is tricky. It seems pretty responsive overall, but I did have doubts sometimes. But overall no big issues for me so far.
The phone also does have an heft. It doesn't seem that big a deal, until you place this 4.3" monster phone in your pocket. Its bothersome, at least to me.
Final words: I am trying to sell the HTC Amaze 4G. It is a great media device, but an horrible communication device. This solely depends on you. I have been using a BB 9700 for the past two years and I went back to it after 8 days of impossible phone calls with the Amaze, battery that lasts nothing (on the Amaze of course), and I personally suck and can't stand typing on screens. Sure, the Amaze thrashes my 9700 on so many levels, but for what I need, the 9700 does a far superior job than the Amaze.

Sounds like you have a defected phone or earpiece. From what I know the amaze doesn't come with an earpiece. I use my old mytouch 4g one and i do not get this issue. well good luck with your deals!

The reception on my amaze is light years ahead of my old samsung galaxy s 4g. I would have one bar on the highway to town and the amaze has a full signal. (2g) just amazing.

I don't have this issue at all. It sounds to me (like someone else mentioned) like you have a defective Amaze.

You should have a minimum of 14 days to exchange it from where you purchased it. After that you might have to send it in to HTC for repair/replacement.

You have obviously owned a Nexus S. We don't use Odin. Anyone who uses Odin on any Nexus (from Samsung) is a moron. Rooting and flashing recovery is all performed via fastboot and then make a clockwork backup like normal. The Galaxy Nexus will be the same way. All you need is fastboot.

14 days are now gone guys...
And when I went back and told them, they said that I had to pay $50 dollars... which I found ridiculous... So I didn't do anything apart from trying to sell the phone.
I am still within the window of returning my G Note (which i love except for a few things) and possibly getting a SGS3.
I really like the GNote and the massive screen, the extra real state is really nice! I am on AT&T and really like the idea of the HSPA network backup to the not yet present LTE here in South Florida. I am getting avg between 4-6 mbps DL.

Is lag only in the launchers? If so, try Launcher Pro. No perceptible lag for me.
Good luck figuring this out, it's a tight race between these 2 devices.

No, it's not limited to Launchers, but they do affect normal navigation. I had ran GO, ADW EX, and Holo....and Holo being the "fastest". I just installed Go Ex and it's really fast. I think it more to do with one the widgets that I was running.
But lag can be seen while unlocking, but I hear that the SGS3 is the same...something to do with deep sleep that Samsung uses. It can also be seen while playing some games like Angry Birds. It ran kind of choppy on my old htc Vision(G2) Oc'd @ 1.2 Ghz, but the Note sometimes shows that choppiness too.
One thing that also concerns me is that the RAM is ually running at 65%-75% capacity anyone else?
I can't decide either. My problem is that I have would have to return my note before ever seeing the gs3. I sold my international note for the one x and didn't like that phone so I would probably regret trading for the gs3 as well. Once you get used to the screen on the note its hard to downgrade. Believe me when I say that the note's screen looks way better than the one x, even the guy at Walmart's at&t store agreed with me. Hopefully when we get a kernel source it will speed up our notes, although my note isn't that bad now.

First and foremost determine what you need in a phone, do you need the Horsepower of a quad core? Most apps aren't designed to work with the quad cores and I would believe that the support of them in ICS is kind of like windows, yes they will use them, but will it use them effectively? Do you want the screen or the camera more? I know for my needs I prefer the screen and the camera is plenty quick enough for what I do, but I don't have kids. As for lag, if it's really that bad, I'd exchange it for another. I only saw lag on my phone after I had launched 20 or 25 apps, running tons of widgets and hadn't shut my phone down in 3 weeks.
So in the end, the trade off is what will you utilize more and what would be best for you. I for one wouldn't trade my note for anything, but again I came from a streak and make full use of my very large screen and not the camera so much. Not to mention, you could wait to get the S3, get it, and in a year they'll probably release a phone that has 3.2GHz quad cores with brand new LTE system that's 10x faster than what we have now.
Technology has always grown faster than we can keep up with, the real question is, how long will you wait to get the latest and greatest? That's the reason why I haven't upgraded my home PC. There's always a new CPU coming out with a new form factor, or the next best graphics card is going to be released in a month or two. My current logic with it now is, hey it works, it works well, I'll keep it until it doesn't suit my needs anymore.
Just my thoughts on it.
Apex launcher is the best launcher for the note no lag on my end. I couldn't see myself going to a smaller screen. My hands fit the phone perfect.

I will share my views with my days with the ATT Note. If you are running stock ROM..it was a HORRIBLE experience. I had my Captivate at the time and it was super smooth compared to the ATT Note stock.
If you are cool changing ROMS, which I think you are since you are here, I would expect it to be a lot better.
As for the dev on the ATT one dying after the GS3 comes out...well , unless you are buying an international GS3, I wont expect the dev for it to be that huge either compared to the international version but this is just a guess.

This is exactly my concern.....Yes it might be all that, as the hox was when it came out, but after I played with it for a bit I was not convinced and actually opted for the GNote instead despite the additional $70 that it cost me.
I guess I like to be a s bleeding edge as possible, being that at the speed of industry... in two years, by the time my contract is over, there will be 6.8Ghz eight core, 0.5 TB solid state drive phones with 21MP cameras that wipe my butt too.... But reality is that it might be overkill.
The other thing that attracts me to the SGS# is that finally an Android phone will have as many accessories as an iPhone given the number of pre-sales, and the fact that it will be the flag-ship device for the 5 major carriers in the US/Canada. I am tired of walking into a best buy and see 90 different cases for the iPhone and, if I'm lucky, finding the $hitty Speck case for my Note lol.
Lastly, my other concer is that in order to get the SGS3 I would have to go from AT&T to VZW, and I am not convinced at all of going from lightning fast VZW LTE to crawling speed 3g EV-DO signal. It is reliable in the area, but LTE does not reach 50% of my territory.
I guess I'm going to keep the GNote, root it and wait for a kernel to break 2.0 Ghz blazing fast phone. I have read a few reviews that measure web processing throughput and the Note beats the SGS3 in the benchmark. Also some of the ROMs available have been tweaked to improve DL perfromance quite drastically.
The camera is pretty snappy too....It seems to take long, but when the picture is revealed it look amazing!
Alrighty, a couple of things to keep in mind.
1. While most apps arent designed to utilize quad cores, this isnt likely to stay that way for long. Since quadcores are fairly new and Android app developers can actually update their apps without some sort of approval process, expect support to happen fairly quickly.
2. The SG3 has a stylus too.
3. ICS will be available for the Note probably in the next month or so. The latest rumour is July 13th. It was delayed 2 weeks because Samsung was fixing a kernel bug that caused the international Note to hard brick when flashing ICS roms.
4. The stock apps are interchangeable. The apps on the Note are available for the SG3 and the SG3 apps are available to put on the Note (this will become easier once ICS is official on the Note).
5. While yes, the Note is bigger, it isnt by much.
Now that Ive addressed those points, I want to talk about ram usage and lag.
The very first thing I am going to recommend is a simple factory reset. Strange as it may be, my Note had nothing but problems first day I had it. I should interject here, my Note was brand new, NOT a refurb. I had only installed a few of my own apps (Audible, BeyondPod, Go Launcher, Beautiful Widgets, and Widget Locker) and had NOT (and still havent in fact) rooted it. I also updated as many of the stock apps manually from the market as I could find since I noticed the stock apps were not linked to the market. And apps began force closing left and right, battery was dead within 6 hours of just streaming audio over bluetooth (hardly any screen time), poor performance, etc. Before I returned it, I did a factory reset and it has been running great since (on probably month 3 now of having it, I bought it very shortly after it came out in the states).
Strangely enough, my brothers Samsung GNexus had poor network performance out of the box, we did a factory reset WHILE driving home with his brand new phone (we drove 2.5 hours to pick up his phone so we had the time) and since then, it has been working fine since.
Ram usage is normal for it to be in the 75% range. Android works a bit differently than Windows and their is no negative to high ram usage TO A POINT. Ram usage exceeding at or exceeding 90% however would be troubling and actually cause poor, laggy performance but under 90% is fine. I dont want to go into the details here but a quick Google search, difference between windows and linux ram usage, might be beneficial.
Finally, my raw opinion, the SG3 is the better phone. The screen is better (albeit smaller), slightly faster, etc. Software differences are a moot point since all of that will be changed in a month when ICS is official for the Note and you can just install software from the phone you DONT have on the phone you DO have. Source code has been released for the Note and the SG3 so we may actually begin seeing some decent rom development begin to happen here in the coming weeks for both phones. What I would say is this, if you want a better quality screen and a slightly faster phone spec wise, go with the SG3. If you want the bigger screen, stick with the Note. Personally, I prefer the screen size and since I spent money on an extended battery for the Note (the Mugen 5400 mah), I wont be switching phones any time soon.

Littleweirdo ...thanks for the explanation and opinion. I share much of what you are saying regarding the SGS3, and I think dollar for dollar the SGS3 is far more powerful than the Note. I looked at our bill, and with the new plans that VZW is pushing out on June 28th, we would actually save about $32 a month from our phone bill (which allone is an enticing reason to change). My concern is the LTE to 3G connectivity of the VZW network...not sure if that is a strong enough argument not to change to VZW. Something can be said about the quality of the VZW network that does, in a way, outweigh sheer DL speeds.

My concern with dropping my Note for the SGS3 sight-unseen is that the SGS3 will not meet my expectations based on the hype.
This is the most annoying cellular phone decision (purchase) I have ever done!! LOL!

Well I bit the bullet..... I switched to VZW. Specs wise the sgs3 seems to be superior, but push come to shove, a $35 a month savings with unlimited voice and text and 4gb gigs once the new pricing plans kick in at the end of the month.
I will miss the huge screen and te s- pen. And I might regret it, but I had to do it from a logical perspective.

Ok, Im not a fanboy by any stretch of the imagination. BUT, Samsung hasnt created a crappy phone since prior to the Galaxy S line of phones - I cant speak to anything prior to that because I never owned a Samsung phone prior to the Captivate. They have proven that they are ready to play with the big boys, they are even taking on a certain fruit company in court.
Why WOULDNT the Galaxy S3 not live up to all the hype? All the tech enthusiasts love it, ask anyone who has it outside of the US, they all love it as well. I think its a fantastic device and other than a smaller screen, its an upgrade from the Note in EVERY aspect, including a much higher quality screen.
If I wasnt invested in the Note already (ie a contract & a $100 extended battery), Id be looking very seriously at the S3 because the Note is older tech. Honestly, Id be laughing at the Note's screen size (I did originally before I decided to just see if I could live with it) because hell, its big.
If Im GOING to buy a phone, Im going to get the latest tech because I know that living with a phone for two years is going to be painful during the last 6 months of the contract.
Although I dont see myself wanting to upgrade my phone after two years due to the limited things I actually USE my phone for (podcasts, audiobooks from Audible, driving directions and checking for app updates for the 15 or so apps I have installed), my Note is plenty adequate. Hell, I would still be using the Captivate if it hadnt died on me. It did everything the Note does for me (that I use it for that is) and it even had a MUCH better sound processor (the Note's sound processing is TERRIBLE).
I'm still curious why people talk about the sgs3 like it's a pentium 4 to the notes pentium 2. The us note is a 1.5ghz dual core, the us sgs3 is a 1.5ghz dual core. The sgs3 has more ram, which means very little when appropriate customizations can create a silky smooth experience on either device. And to top it all off, with the right optimizations in the rom and kernel, a 1ghz tegra 2 is just as smooth as these 1.5 ghz chips. My atrix was buttery smooth on cm9, my note is buttery smooth on cm9, and I'm sure the sgs3 will be buttery smooth on cm9. In my opinion, it comes down to aesthetics and screen, because everything else is a variable if you plan to flash.

It did everything the Note does for me (that I use it for that is) and it even had a MUCH better sound processor (the Note's sound processing is TERRIBLE).

Yeah I hear ya.....I have seen multiple videos on the the SGS3 and it seems like an incredibly fluid device. I have to say the screen real state i will miss, but since I am returning my Note today, and will get the SGS3 in early July I am back on an Blackberry Pearl 8130...the screen size is about 1/4 of the Note's....maybe less LOL. So I think by the time i get the G3 it will seem like a huge screen!
I will miss the S-Pen....I did use it quite a bit. I stopped taking my notebook to meetings bcs all I needed was my note.

You are right in the sence that many phones just need to be optimized in order to get them smooth. I did that with my htc Vision/G2 once I rooted, swaped kernels, flashed a "few" ROM's including ICS and had it OC'd to nearly 2x it's rated processor speed. BUT, and you know a but was coming....
There is something to be said of the posibilities of a device being launched nearly simultaneously on all 5 major carriers in the US...no other device has ever done that (at least under the same name, and never in so close proximity of one from the other).
The other thing impressive about the G3 is the hardware, it's got 2GB of ram, and incredible camera, a very good processor (though not the latest), and note like beautiful screen. For me the camera alone draws my attention, and the fact that the spec are as close to bleeding edge as we can get in a production device, makes me pretty happy to know that I can pull of 2 years of no upgrades.
In fact, when I purchased the htc G2 on T-Mobile nearly 2 yrs ago, it was the only phone on 4G network, and it was the best phone out there for a while, and I found no reason to envy any other devices. I switched from it bcs I got tired of the poor data strength of T-mobile in my area, and the fact that sitting at my office, getting signal was a hit/miss situation, but the device itself it's still kicking....it's my toddler's mini tablet at the moment.

Ive seen it first hand (the international version). The screen is probably the biggest thing about the SG3, its a better quality screen than the Note.
Samsung has NAILED every phone. Would people be buying it otherwise? Look at the world wide sales, look at the tech reviews, there is hardly anything negative to say about it.
In fact, the only negative is that it doesnt have the latest processor, big whoop in my opinion. Oh, and maybe touchwiz, but touchwiz is decent now, nothing like the pile of poo it was on the Captivate.
