[Q] com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This just started randomly last night. When I try to do a search for an e-mail this error comes up.
Sorry!
The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. dumpstate_app_201008091032_google_process_gapps.log has been saved. use *#9900# to copy out log.
Just found another thread on this topic. Mods you may delete.

Having an issue with this error too when phone initially starts up. I'm also unable to download anything from the market now. I can pull an app up and click on install and it says its downloading but nothing happens.
Last things I did was the lag fix and deleted some bloatware apks.

That also happened to me after deleting bloatware! One or more of the removed apps is causing the error after bootup and the Market not downloading apps problem..
I only deleted files that someone in another thread said were OK to delete.....
Did you guys removed the email.apk too??

Ya, email and a couple of the Talk/Google Talk apks. Is the Email apk what's causing it?

LOL you guys deleted "Google Talk" while you thought you were deleting bloat-ware. Here is a little lesson well learned. Do not delete anything unless you know what the hell you were doing. I have the files you guys need on my computer somewhere. I will attach them as soon as I fend them. Until then do NOT delete anything else.

Here you go Nubs. LOL sorry but I just had to call you noobs after doing this. All good though. We all make mistakes.
Install these in this order:
1. TalkProvider.apk
2. GTalkService.apk
3. Talk.apk

Lmao yup, I'm learning tho. Even if in my own stubborn way :]
Thanks for the save

I didn't; but now I do know which apps where causing it!!!!! Thanks to jrwingate6 for the heads up and the link for the apps. I had already fixed mine by installing all the apps back. I just didn't know which one/ones where the root cause of the problems!

Edited:
Got those files installed and took another reboot and everythings doing what it should be now. Thanks again :]

I'm glad your phones are back to working order.

do you also have these files for android 1.6?

thank you
You saved my butt , thank you very much for doing this !!!

permanent solution
jrwingate...is there a fix and if yes what are the procedures without deleting the apk files?

[Q] Can't get to Conversations.apk settings

Ok, first of all - I'm seriously gonna buy somebody a big beer if he can tell me how to repair the stuff below without reflashing. No kidding...
- Whats the problem?
Click to collapse
When I go to default SE massager (conversations.apk), and hit the "Settings" option from the menu I get a force close... No way I can get in to that settings, and I need them to disable the standard notifications.
- How did that happened?
Click to collapse
Well I'm not sure, but I think I deleted some stock apk that I was just not using (ofc from system/app folder). The Conversation.apk is there obviously, but like I've said, settings in it - not reachable because of the force close.
It's hard for me to say which app is responsible for that. I am sitting, and restoring them one-by-one with no effect. Maybe I miss some... Don't really know
Ofc I've tried to delete, and restore Conversations.apk (new), I've even installed a X10i version, but still - the same problem.
Reflashing is not an option for me, so I have a big problem. Be thankful for any suggestions.
Doesn't help you, but I have the same issue, a reflash doesn't help have just got into habit of clearing notifications after every text.
@batwingnz
Thanks for replay. Hope someone can help us. The problem is really annoying, and after your post I have no clue wtf generates it... :/
Done! -Tutorial-
Wow, finally I found a way to get rid of this problem once and for all!
This took a while, but anyway...
I've installed the stock "SEMCSettings.apk" from old 1.6 (attached to post).
Simply:
- copied apk to system/app
- changed permissions
- restarted the phone
Voila! Now theres no force close when trying to get in the messages settings.
Quick Edit: The SEMSSettings.apk from 2.1 also works great on that issue
You are the MAN!!! So many thanks!!!

[Q] How to stop OTA update notification after update has been downloaded??

So a couple of days ago I updated to UEKME via PhantomHacker's StarBurst ROM, and right afterwards I noticed I continued to receive OTA update notifications from my Samsung account. So of course my first step was to change the settings in that account so that the device no longer looked for updates, however it appears that the update had already been downloaded or received. So then I started thinking, maybe if I could just find that downloaded update file, I could delete it and fix the issue that way. But after exhaustive searches, I have no idea where such a file could be. And of course all the while, I continue to get those damn annoying update popup notifications, with no way of stopping them.
Has anyone else either 1) encountered the same problem, or 2) know where the downloaded update file could be or what it might be named? Someone in another thread said it would be in the root of the SD card, but that I can confirm is not the case. And I performed a full system search of the term "update" and found no file, so that's why I'm wondering what exactly that file's name might actually be.
I'm looking for an answer to this as well. Thanks.

Cool, at least I'm not the only one having this problem!
Just an idea... since you use Starburst you don't need OTA anymore.
What happens if you remove the Samsung account, do you still get update notifications?
I have the exact same issue. The update downloaded before I flashed the custom ROM, so it keeps letting me know that an update has been downloaded and if it should be applied. Even if I hit do not remind me, it still pops up.
I think finding the update data and deleting it would solve this problem. Problem is, nobody seems to know where the update data is downloaded to. I've asked in a couple of different threads, but no dice so far.
Let's hope someone comes through with an answer

Ok well I'm giving this a shot, only I've found that one can't just delete the Samsung account in the more obvious fashion, that is by going to Settings-->Accounts and sync and simply deleting the account there (in fact it is not possible to do it this way, it simply won't let you as apparently "other programs" are using the account). Instead, using Titanium Backup I located the app called "Samsung account" and uninstalled that app. I have now done that, and (so far) I haven't gotten another update notification. But I'll give it more time and will report back with my findings over the coming hours/days.
Not sure 100%, but if you stop the Software Update service you should be able to remove the account. Or the radical way, you can remove all accounts with Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset.
Ah crap, well after removing the account (i.e., uninstalling "Samsung account" app), about 2 hours later I awakened my tab only to find that damned update notification pop up, so obviously that didn't work at all. I guess we are now just stuck with waiting to see if someone can actually find the correct file that one must delete in order to stop this incredibly annoying and frustrating phenomenon from occurring. Damn.
One more little thing I'm now trying - while looking through things again in Titanium, I found another apk that I believe was called "Software updater" or something similar to that, so I've tried uninstalling that using Titanium. I have since rebooted and have the tab running, so as with earlier I'll keep checking in on it to see if the update notification comes back, or if by some miracle this fixes it. Fingers crossed, because after this I'm going to begin getting ready for a full wipe and build things back up from scratch.
UPDATE: things might be headed in the right direction after all. Before uninstalling this particular apk (the Software Updater), I used to be able to reproduce the typical "software update successfully received - do you want to install?" popup by going to Settings-->About tablet-->Software update-->Update, and when I'd click "Update" I'd get the notification...but now when I try it, it does absolutely nothing. So I have a feeling this might have done it. So again basically I have killed both the Samsung Account apk and the Software updater apk (uninstalled them, that is, using TB). If I don't get another popup by tomorrow morning, we can consider this a success....
Ya, I thought so. I still want to know where the updates are stored. There must be a file written somewhere and when that file is present the update is trigerred.

Agreed, you're right that has got to be the case, but where is the million dollar question. But so far so good at my end with the removal of the Software Updater app
FIXED
I think I can now confirm that the problem is fixed. The key is apparently uninstalling the "Software Updater" app using Titanium Backup. I also removed the "Samsung Account" app in the same way, but the Updater program seemed to be the real key (but I would still remove the Account app since obviously you don't need it). Good luck!

I Don't know what's causing this but I Keep having this happen to me Screenshot (Below)!!
Some people said its from Flashing a New Rom... I Haven't!
I've Tried Breaking the Market Links, I've Uninstalled Every App on my Dumbass phone, I've Restored Nandroid Backups that "Were" working Fine!
I've Tried to go to the Android Market from my Web Browser, Logged in but Can't figure out how to Uninstall apps that it says are Installed under my Email, but they Aren't...
It's Remembering apps from Two of my Previous phones and Also from my Current phone when I Switched my Build.prop information! WTF?
Every once in a while it just Mysteriously Fixes itself and I can all of a sudden see My Apps again in the Market app...
But I Don't know What's Causing it to Hide My Apps and I Don't know What's Fixing it?
Can Someone PLEASE Try to Explain This Bull**** to me! I'm So Frustrated I feel like Smashing the **** out of this piece of ****!
Hopefully Someone will be able to Help me Fix and Stop this, Thanxx in Advance!

[Q] Jelly Bean donwnload notifications won't go away

Hello,
My wife's Galaxy S3 just got updated to Jelly Bean and an very annoying issue has started to occur: download finished notifications of all files that have ever been downloaded on the device (I assume, there's a ton of them) have appeared in the drop down bar. If I press clear all they disappear, but reappear after a short while.
Any idea what's wrong and how can it be fixed?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hiya mate, I've updated my S3 only moments ago and the same problem occurred on my phone. So I did as what you did and searched Google but nothing came up so I tried a few differebt things, including delete a few pictures I didn't need and taking out my SD card and evening stopping a few applications through the app manager but none of them worked. I then proceeded to go on Facebook on my phone and I saw a pic I found funny so I downloaded and the bright idea came from that. Would deleting my download history work and thankfully it did. To do this, click on your app button and the download app should be on the first screen, click on it and delete everything that is in the two tabs. If this doesn't work then I'm sorry but I don't know what else to try. I would provide pics of where the download app is what to delete but I'm on my phone at the moment and navigating on this page is so hard due to it not being mobile friendly.
IT WORKS!

Whatsapp Weird Glitch....Need Help!!!

A weird glitch has been going on with my Whatsapp for more than week or two, It's simple, I reply a message, using the reply function and then as soon as my reply gets replied(hopefully you understand), the recipients reply above my reply disappears.
I can't post an image yet, but an example;
Hey
Hey(this then disappears)
Sup?
Sup?
I'm good
As soon as the recipient replies to my reply which is Sup?, the Hey above my reply(Sup?) disappears.
Thanks in advance for your replies, I really want to fix this problem, it's getting to my head.

Go for a clean re-install, see if it still happens. Delete the app, use a file explorer to clear the remaining folders and eventual media and do a fresh install from the Play Store, not modded/+ versions.

Yeah I have reinstalled the app twice and deleted every file of WhatsApp from the root directory, but still same result. I tried a Gbwhatsapp today and the problem seems to be gone, So I don't think it's my account that might be corrupted as well.
