[Q] A Little Help - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before I start I would like to say that I did search for an answer on this but I haven't seen a clear answer to it. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction of locating the phones internal sd/memory. I have music and other things I want moved from the external to the internal. I did it before wen i first got the phone because half of my memory is used up but I cant figure out how i made it happen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Use a file manager from the /sd (eclair) or /external_sd/ (froyo)
and move it to the root of it

[Q] SD/ and /SD2 are switched around. Please Help.

I apologize if this has been answered before.
On my G Tablet, the file manager sees the internal SD card as /sd2 and the external SD card as /sd.
I am currently running Vegan-Tab-v.1.0.0b4
Build number: harmony 2.2 FRF91 20101123.172729
Android 2.2
I would really like it if my internal SD could be seen as /sd and my external seen as /sd2 so that I can try out some of these amazing new mods.
I remember around christmas I did something to change the /sd card names so that my computer could see the external SD card...at least I think I did.
If you know of a way for me to change the /sd2 to /sd please let me know. This has been driving me batty for months. If I am being too vague, lemme know. I'll provide as much information as possible, once I know what to look for.
Thank you for your time.
just a tiny bump to see if anyone can help. thanks.
reflash the rom without wiping user data.
also consider upgrading to the latest vegan froyo (5.1.1)
Thank you good Sir! I shall try it now. BTW, I <3 HGTTG. Long live Zaphod!

[Q] Easiest way to expand app storage space

Hi guys. I've reached my breaking point on the anemic app storage space on our handy dandy little device. So far I've avoided any real mods for this device because I didn't want to start a new habit of flashing on the regular (been there, done that, fun but sometimes time consuming). But right I can't install any large programs without having the constant low space message. So if the only real functionality I need is an extended app storage partition what method would be best to achieve that. Thanks in advance everyone.

I think there is only one way: Urukdroid.
I thinks its the only way to extend app partition Try it
Okay follow up question, should I then get a ne SD card as mine is only class 2, or should I install on internal. Pros?cons? Again thanks

Install on sd card is better if you want more space on your tablet
But otherwise i prefer install on internal
There is a thread in here somewhere in which a fella found that gen8 devices keep a cache of old APK files. I cleared out that cache and it fixed all my maddening app storage problems. Look for that thread.
I tried finding the thread you mentioned with no luck, any idea what to search for?
I just spent a good 20 minutes searching and couldn't find it either.. weird. I'll see if I can't find the directory on my own when I get home.
Can you get a temp root? That's necessary.
Knowing there is an answer is half the battle.
I found .apk's in internal \Downloads directory and \system\APK. I didn't even have to use adb, just mounted the disks and used explorer.
I can confirm that deleting them doesn't hurt anything. However, there really wasn't that much and it didn't help my sort of storage issue.
I haven't tried this on my A101 yet, but Link2SD http://market.android.com/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD should work. You will have to create a second partition on your internal storage or SD card though.

[Q] Mounting Internal SD Card Help

I'm not able to get the Internal SD card to mount after installing the pre-beta cyanogenmod 7. Is there some setting I'm missing or something that I need to do in particular?
Prior to install I was on the alien build and everything worked fine. Now when I go to the root directory using RootExplorer it says 'the sd card is not currently mounted'.
I've had my atrix for a while and i'm not a complete noob, just not an avid poster. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: I have checked the storage menu and i do have 1.17GB of free space.
It can be found under /mnt/emmc. Unfortunately, I have to inform you for future reference that this is the wrong forum for such a question. Q and A exists for a reason, but I hope I helped.
Please post in the correct sections. Thread moved.

Thanks for the help. I found that but how do I get, for example, Rom Manager or other applications to recognize that location?
Mr Clown, My apologies for posting in the wrong section.

+1 wondering the same
i would also like to know, as i have only a class 1 microsd card and it creates wakeup lag. if i take it out, there is no wakeup lag but my phone wont recognize the internal storage.
I think it varies by application. Some will let you browse there and set it as a default directory for things, but many will not. I have just gotten used to having duplicates of random stuff for now :S I think it is pretty unfortunate, but it is what it is.
Maybe someone will develop something like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034939
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/20724-nook-color-sdcard-and-emmc-swap/
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/27030-questions-on-5gb-emmc-just-hacked-nc/
That's for the Nook, but I can't see why someone couldn't do that for the Atrix. However, I would imagine it won't be our own CM7 team because their task is to port CM7, and thus they are following the CM standards.
I have this problem too, i dont hae a external SD Card
im used to the internal 16 gb as my memory
now iwth CM7 , the phone is lost, browsr wont download, titanium wont find the sd card, nothing is working
so is an EXTERNAL sd card a pre-requisite for CM7, i never knew this..
and if so, what does CM7 do with the huge internal memory if it saves everything to the external (atleast thats where apps see it)

[Q] apps to sd card help needed

Right I'm new to android and am having a problem I just picked up a doogee 120 handset for very cheap so thought I'd give it a go the only issue I could see was it came with virtually no internal storage not a problem I'll just put a memory card in and use that, oh how wrong was i . not ever using android before I wasn't aware of the issue of apps going on the memory card after reading many threads I'm now confused people saying it can be done others saying it can but you must Root so can someone please give a definitive answer can I store my apps on my SD card. I read you can change the default install directory so they can be installed directly, also I read you can get apps to move them some of which you need to be rooted to use others rooting is not needed and someone else said you can partially move apps using folder mounting, so can someone please help as I'm stuck for how to try this, I should mention I'm in jellybean 4.2.2 and I have no problem in rooting my phone but again not sure how to I have jailbroken a 3gs and iPad 2 so rooting is fine if someone can point me to a guide. Thanks

[Q] help with CWM and phone space

hey. I'm running on CM 10.1.3-RC1 on my i777, and ahve been for quite some time. Thing is, my internal SD has absolutely no space in it, and I cant install apps from the play store at all. I have installed literally nothing on my internal storage other than clockworkmod, and it is taking up all the space available. I'd like to be able to remove/or atleast move my backups somewhere to create space on my phone. Here is the current file structure on the phone Computer\SGH-I777\SD card\clockworkmod\backup\ which contains the files nandroid, boot, ..android_secure.vfat, system.ext4, cache.ext4 and data.ext4.
I don't plan to unroot or upgarde my CM version anytime soon, if that helps
Any help would be greatly appreciated
and my sincerest apologies if I posted on the wrong forum
