[Q] Problems with SPL after downgrading from HSPL - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sry for bad english, but here is my problem:
After I did the downgrade to stock ROM with SPL, the bootloader wouldn't accept any connection from the USB at all. When I install HSPL again, the phone goes into bootloader, but no USB is found in the bootloader. The USB disconnects from the computer, so the HSPL installation isn't really able to connect after being brought into bootloader. The same happends when I try a stock ROM upgrade from HTC.
After the phones hits the bootloader, after a second or so, a new screen comes up. It says "Loading..." and it just stays there, no contact. Doing a reboot with the small red button works, and brings me back into booting up Windows.
Any idea on how I may install HSPL again?

are you sure? does the word 'serial' not change to 'USB'?
ignore the pc, doesnt matter that the pc doesnt connect activesync.

dont forget that you cant just use ANY stock rom, it must be your phones original stock rom.
Go into bootloader, if 'serial' DOES change to 'USB' run hspl.exe (right click and run as administrator)

The white area doesn't show anything. No serial, no USB, nothing at all.

are you manually entering bootloader? if not, then try entering manually.
(Power off, press and hold vol down, tap and release power)
Is that any different?

When I use the method posted above, I get to the bootloader screen, and then to a white screen showing only "loading...". It¨s the same result as when I am trying to install HSPL, or an official ROM upgrade from HTC There's nothing in the white area of the tricolor bootloader screen, no serial or USB. If there had been something there, the case would have been solved easily, but it's nothing at all, The tricolor screen only shows for a split-second and then it goes further to the loading screen (the screen that shows only "loading").
It seems for me to be impossible to solve this

I've just had the same problem but managed to fix it tonight. I'm so happy, thought I'd bricked it.
1. Remove any SD card. Possibly you have a "LEOIMG.nbh" file on it that the bootloader is trying to load and getting stuck.
2. Now try manually loading the bootloader. (Disconnect the battery. Connect the battery. Hold volume down & press power.)
3. Hopefully you now have the bootloader on. Plug into the USB on the motherboard of your computer at the back.
4. You should see USB on bootloader. Run HSPL in admin mode (right click the HSPL.exe to run as admin).
Hopefully that works for you.

as red above said, , , you probably have an image on your sd card.

I am having the same problem as above. However, when I connect the USB to my PC, it doesn't change from "Serial" to "USB". I am unable to install HSPL. What do I do?

Need help to flash !

Hey
I have tried to flash a WM6 rom for my Hurricane.. But as i read i needed a patched ruu for the spl update.. Then i found some patched ruu in the "WM6 for C550" topic and flashed it and now all i get is a white screen! It wont do anything other than showing a white screen.. ! What can i do ? I can't flash anything on it, my computer dosn't recognize the phone anymore.. And by that i do not mean it dosn't recognize it from active sync, it dosn't even see it through usb connection! Phone dosn't even charge..
Have i bricked it ?
can u turn bootloader? if u can, have you done backup?

i can't get to bootloader ! Unless its something iam doing wrong? If i plug the usb cable while holding camera button i still get a white screen ..
u can't get to tricolour screen? that's a problem. i guess u flash a wrong spl.
u can press the power button while holding camera button , then press "0",and plug the usb cable.
run mtty ,if there is a usb connection, you can flash the os. then restart.
u will get a white screen again, but the system can get connection with ruu.
now flash the right spl.

Recovering bad flash

Hopefully someone can help me here
I have an HTC Mogul that I am trying to flash over to a custom ROM. Unfortunately I got a little too gung ho and didnt flash the radio over, so now the phone freezes at the HTC splash screen on start up. I have tried flashing it back to a carrier rom or even another custom rom but it gets to the loading bar and then fails out. Have tried flashing from the SD card but every image i put on there says that there is no valid image on the card.
I have looked high and low for an answer to my problem but have had little to no luck anywhere.

Unlocked bootloader -> Custom ROM -> GPS Radio -> Boot
So as long as your bootloader is unlocked (olipro 2.40, no2chem 2.47) then go ahead and flash the Custom GPS ROM you want to use on there. Then flash a GPS Radio I use 3.42.40 and yes I have tested all the others. Then to be totally sure might as well hard reset and pull the battery for a few.
Edit: Tip I figure everyone needs to read. If flashing using RUU method (exe, or utility through usb cable) make sure you dont have a Memory card in the phone. That ensures no problems will arise like bad flashes.
If using microSD card then make sure its not plugged in while flashing. Card must be 2gb and under and be formatted fat 32, image must be named TITAIMG.nbh and be the only thing on the card, no files or folders but the .nbh
Also check in your Computers files and folders settings and make sure you have it selected to Show File Extensions. That way you know the files are getting named and assigned correctly.
The problem I am having right now is the bootloader seems borked. It will not load any files. any that i put on the card it flashes up quick and says no image file found and then back to the bootloader screen and if i try usb it goes to the point where the progress bar comes up and then errors out. Is there a way to flash the bootloader without loading into WM?

What bootloader is on there now? You should of already mentioned this in your first post, let alone your second..
Also what size memory card are you using, I hinted at that already too.
Yeah that would help
Here is what is at the top of the Bootloader:
TITA100
SPL-1.07.0000
CPLD-9
I am using a 2 gig card, tried with a 1 gig it would get the to loading screen and freeze

Yea you messed up, you need to flash an unlocked bootloader from a functioning WM. There are ways around it and to get out of your jam.
Tell me what the phone does after unplugging it, removing the memory card, taking the battery out and letting it sit for a couple minutes. Put only the battery in and turn it on.
I need to know if it tries to boot the OS and gets stuck or if it goes to bootloader automatically.
it tries to boot to WM, goes to the HTC logo and then freezes, i still have to hold down the camera button to boot into the bootloader

Thats not how you get into bootloader on a Titan.
Manual Bootloader mode on a Titan = Power Button + Camera Button + Reset Button (hole next to memory card slot) for a couple seconds then release.
Ok now next information that you forgot to post. What HTC Mogul is it P4000, VX6800, PPC6800, or other variant. What carrier branding is it, like what stock ROM was originally on there. Sprint, Verizon, Qwest. Exe.
I need to know this as well so we are not just trying things to you get it. I want to write you a walkthrough that hits the nail on the head.
PPC6800
Old Carrier was USCC
and it may just be this version but to get into bootloader I have just been holding down camera then at the same time holding down power holding it for a few seconds then releasing the power and it goes into BL
1: Download the following files from my HTC to Windows Unlock Tools directory. Download the Titan_Relocker.exe, a GPS radio of your choosing, and the titan_spl_olipro240.exe.
2. Now make sure you have Active Sync 4.5 installed first then the HTC windows drivers installed second (from my HTC unlock directory on my share site). Now install both of those and restart the computer, start from a fresh PC. Now disable the Active Sync usb connections just right click the Active sync icon on your PC's taskbar. Pick connection settings and then look for the Box with Allow USB connections. Clear the box (disable) the usb connections.
3. Take out the storage card and now manually put the phone into bootloader "power camera reset" and then plug the phone into the PC using a MAIN port built into the Motherboard (no hub, no front usb panel). Now use Winrar, or 7zip to extract the contents of the Titanrelocker.exe into a folder. You will then see the ROMupdateutility.exe and ExitBL.exe with a bunch of other files. Ok now Run the ROM update utitlity.exe from the extracted folder and let it flash The Stock SPL. When it is done follow the prompts on screen. Now if it reboots back to olipro bootloader then run the Exitbl.exe and soon as it reboots wait till after the first splash screen and Unplug the phone.
4. Now manually put the phone into bootloader "power camera reset" (so it restarts and goes back to bootloader). Now we are going to flash the Olipro 2.40. Use Winrar, or 7zip to extract the contents of Olipro 2.40.exe into a folder. You will then see the ROMupdateutility.exe and ExitBL.exe with a bunch of other files. Ok now Run the ROM update utitlity.exe from the extracted folder and let it flash Olipro 2.40 When it is done follow the prompts on screen. Now if it reboots back to olipro bootloader then run the Exitbl.exe and soon as it reboots wait till after the first splash screen and Unplug the phone.
5. Now manually put the phone into bootloader "power camera reset" (so it restarts and goes back to bootloader). Now you can flash a Custom ROM using RUU method or go ahead and use the microSD method.
a. You can use an RUU utility to flash the custom ROM while its still plugged in and in bootloader.
b. You can flash the custom ROM with a Micro SD card, just unplug the phone and put the card in and manually put the phone in bootloader again using power + camera + reset all at the same time for a second or two.
6: When the ROM is done installing you MUST flash a GPS radio version 3.35 and up if you are using a GPS ROM. If you use RUU method you have to perform a hard reset after flashing the radio. If you use the Micro SD method you do not have to Hard Reset.
Still it is a good idea to hard reset and then pull battery for a minute to make sure the page pool is set.
on #3 flashing it back to the stock SPL i get the same error as I have been getting, it goes to the progress bar on both the computer and phone, sits at 0% for about 30 seconds then the computer gives error 262
ok finally got it to respond to the SD card, but it has been sitting on a grey screen saying loading for a good 6 hours now, i have a feeling that this is going to take some low-level editing with mtty

[Q] HELP! Is my hero bricked?

Hi guys, I am feeling really nervous about this... So, the problem is, that I've just rooted my HTC GSM Hero and installed 2.2 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=767886). Then I downloaded this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892297. There I chose wrong icon (I didn't notice the icon was for FroydVillain) and rebooted device... Now I can't boot device into normal mode (it shows hero for a while, then turns into black screen, and nothing more happens) or recovery mode (it stucks when it shows HERO). I tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4467471&postcount=13 but it didn't work. I'm a complete beginner. Any ideas? Is my device really bricked? THANKS.
Boot into recovery, reflash the room. I dont know why would you anything to spl...

Stay calm... it's not necessarily bricked yet
First thing i would like you to do is charge your phone to max!
Try and turn on the phone and hold to "On" key and "Home" key together for 60 seconds. If this doesn't boot you to recovery, try again one more time! It's happened to me that i didn't realise the button wasn't pressed all the way down.
If that doesn't work then let it boot as normal and even though it goes to the black screen don't panic.
Do you have any of the android tools installed?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
See there for help on how to get adb up and running and then come back here.
Another thing i'm curious about while we're here... when you boot the device as normal.. connect it to power, the orange (or green) led at the top should be off for a few seconds while the hero boots up... when it goes to this black screen that you see.. does the light come on?

When my phone is off, the led is red. When I see that black screen, it is off... Is that bad??
Not necessarily.. it could just mean that it's not finishing it's boot up... let it charge for a while.
Your phone is most likely fine. You just confused it so it can't start up normally. We'll get you back in recovery mode and then you can reinstall your 2.2 rom.

Hi there
I'm assuming, that You know how to get into recovery, as You flashed a couple of things. Perhaps Your home key is broken
Question: do You have adb set up on Your computer? if yes - does it recognize Your phone ?
There is always option to run RRU...have You tried that ?

Yes, it finds HEROIMG,zip, then loads it, then checks it, and adter that nothing happens - the phone still doesn't boot.
ok, volume down key response is good
ADB apears not to discover Your phone, probably drivers problem ;/
Look for RRU file it's used for factory reseting entire phone.
You can download it from HTC.com site.

EDIT: go to htc.com site. look for downlaoding software for Your phone. You will have to provide Your imei. and You will receive .exe file - that You will have to run on Your PC. You can also look for it on this forum, they should be around here somewhere (or perhaps shipped roms.com)

Maybe there's some way to flash my recovery img via hboot (POWER + VOLUME DOWN)?
Try downloading usbdeview HERE plug the phone in,turn it on,leave it for 10-15 seconds for windows to recognize it...load usbdeview and uninstall and delete anything with android, htc, mass storage or adb in it thats showing as connected (on the right hand side) unplug phone......then download and install HTC Sync HERE let it install, then reboot (to be safe) plug the phone in and let its do its business,DONT let windows search and direct it to program files/htc sync/drivers (or similar) you should then have adb! If you dont it could be a problem with your misc.img i had this with my magic and fixed it with a post on this forum but will post it up if the first bit doesnt work
Any troubles gtalk me [email protected]

[Q] Need help plz

Hi.
Just tryed to inst. Android in my HD2 and now it stuck with a white screen with the HTC logo.
Is it any way to fix this or do i just trach it?
I am not an expert but this happened to me once while installing SD android.
I reinstalled the original ROM from the HTC site and restored my phone to factory settings.
I tried another version of android and it worked well (since last September).
Only observation is that lately (last two month) my phone hangs a lot on both systems (droid & win) and overheats a lot and when this happens I need to wait for it to cool down (at least 20 minutes) then it accepts rebooting (I am stating this although I am not sure is it from the droid or just my HW is faulty for other reasons).
I hope this helps
I tryed a NAND install. Now I cant get conection with usb and computer
Maybe you can perform a hard reset with buttons
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then press the END/POWER button shortly and release it.
2. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
I hope it works

As long as you can get to bootloader its ok
I would start over from the begining.....
Does it still show that you have HSPL installed on bootloader?
If so, reflash the windows 6.5 ROM that you were using before the android flash.
Then follow the steps in this thread.
Hope that helps....

Ok when you enter bootloader (red green blue screen) you should see "Serial" at the bottom..
When you connect to the computer it should change to "USB"
You might not see anything happen on your computer but the word at the bottom of the bootloader should change.
I might be mistaken here but Im pretty sure you need "2.08 HSPL" although your bootloader shows you have HSPL installed its not 2.08. This might be the cause of your original problem.
Once it says "USB" your ready to flash a ROM via USB as usual...
If it stays on "Serial" after a few minutes then try another USB port or computer if possible.
Enter bootloader and run the HSPL tool and choose 2.08HSPL......
Then start the process from the beggining.
Hope that helps.

Hah your a babe conantroutman lol thnx
Is this the rigth SPL ?
Not to intrude on conantroutman here but yes you have to have HSPL 2.08 and a 2.15.50.14 or 2.10.50.02 radio for MAGLDR to work. Without the HSPL 2.08 you can not flash MAGLDR and without the proper radio version MAGLDR will not even boot up.
So to answer your question yes the HSPL you have in the picture you posted is the correct HSPL.
Yep as T said, hspl is good, radio is good. Your all set.
That guide for installing android at the top of the thread is pretty damn good and will have you up and running in no time. Let us know how you get on

thnx to both of you. I'll post here when done
Crap my call button dont work when I'm in bootloader
When your in the MAGLDR menu?
You may have to flash WM again to test the call button. Or try reflashing MAGLDR, that may help...
Sent From My Fingers To Your Face.....
I guesse it's a lost case so I just installed winmo and runing android from SD card
thnx for the help.
btw!
is there a way to get htc sense to work on a huawei u8800 or x5?
Hmmm its very weird because if your call button works in WM then it should work in MAGLDR....

Need Help!

Here is the story. my parent bought my brother the amaze 4g for his birthday. he was messing with it trying to root it and such and today he was trying to install a new rom and while it was installing he disconnected the cable, the screen is a black background with green arrows and a phone. I'm not familiar with this but when i press the power button and down button it says unlocked at the top. When i tried to install the stock rom it keeps coming up with no image.
Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance
Was he trying to make it s=off? When I did that on my phone that happened, and it is easy to fix. Ask your brother first, but if he was trying to get s=off, all you have to do is get the leaked ICS image from the dev section and flash it. Download the file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1615164&highlight=leak, rename it to PH85IMG.zip and put it on the external SD card, then boot into the bootloader and press the up volume button when it asks if you want to update. However, this only works on T-Mobile phones.
I tried that a bunch of times already but every time it starts checking and at the then it just says no image and goes back to H boot
Edit: It is a T-Mobile phone
Sorry, I just reread your original post, your bootloader has to be locked to flash the file, so boot into fastboot and run "fastboot oem lock" from your computer's command prompt.
I just tried it and it gets stuck on "waiting for device" and I don't know if it makes a difference but something happened with his SD card and my computer couldn't read it so I had to reformat it and its empty right now
If that doesn't work, I am not sure what can be done. I wouldn't think the SD card would matter, but make sure you formatted it as FAT32, just in case, and leave the zip file off of it, go into bootloader and use the volume buttons to go to fastboot, and click the power button to select it, then plug it into the computer. If it then says fastboot usb I would think the oem lock should work, but if that fastboot usb doesn't come up, there might be something wrong with the whole boot loader or something. Sorry I could not help any more.
I went into fastboot and connected the USB cable and it didn't change, it still just say fastboot highlighted in red
I have no idea what you could do to fix that, then. Again, I apologize that I couldn't help more, and I wish you the best of luck with this.
Thanks for trying to help anyway
edit
Adb debugging wasn't on I bet :banghead:
I don't get how he got in this position. I don't use a cord to install ROMs. If he were to unplug, I don't see what that would do except stop charging... Unless he was in disk mode and it caused a bad unmount and corrupted card.
I would try the steps above with a fresh sd card and it should work. Redownload the ics or gingerbread ruu and go through the steps.
He was in the process of flashing his phone with some rom he wanted but then somehow he accidentally disconnected the USB cable and it froze up. Now every time you turn the phone on, after the HTC screen it shows the picture that its being flashed (black background with green arrows going into the phone) so I can't turn the phone on at all but I do know that his phone had usb debugging on before he flashed it.
Ok so I found out he was actually trying to get S-off with some "wire trick" and he said at the beginning of the process the phone was restarting and he accidentally unplugged the usb and when the phone rebooted, it got stuck in the dark screen with the green arrows
This just means he needs to continue trying the wire trick. I was stuck at the screen too. I just kept running the program and attempting the wire trick until I got it right.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA
I just tried the wire trick and it got all the way to counting 45 seconds and the phone keeps rebooting. So I tried to run the program again and now it says connect device and install drivers
Is there a way to get this phone to work again?

i dont know what to say then :/ mabey the computer cant read the amaze
Since I can't get past the htc screen. The computer wont recognize that the phone is connected to it
I has a similar problem when trying to do s-off - try installing htc drivers again after plugging in the usb.
