[Q] Little Help Here - Streak 5 Android Development

Just wondering if you guys could help me out
I made a back up of my phone with the Dell pc suite befor I updated to the leaked 2.1 rom but forgot to sync my contacts with my computer. Would there be any way to get my contacts from the backup file made by the Dell pc suite? I tryed to restore the data to my phone but the Dell pc suite doesnt pick up my phone now im in 2.1
I was thinking I could downgrade back to 1.6 restore my back up, then sync my contacts then upgrade back to 2.1
Does any one have any other ideas I was hopeing theres a way to some how open the back up file and I could copy my contacts out insted of downgrading and upgrading. Im kind of new at this kind of thing as you could proply tell

You not have a google account? If so they will be in the cloud, if you didn't you should next time. No point having android without a google account of some kind

How to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1

Like the title says... i want to downgrade to 2.1 again because 2.2 is not what i want.. i use Froydvillian newest version and want to go to a 2.1 custom rom.
one of the 2 problems is that i am not sure if this will go good with google and more.
the other one is that i want to keep my contacts and sms...
Hope u guys can help me
1) synchronize contacts with google contacts, and You are all set
2) regarding SMS/mms try using titanium backup, or my backup pro. Although I'm not sure if they transport messages between 2.2 and 2.1
Hope this helps.
cheers

Can i use a backup by my telephone contacts? or not? or how to backup with google contacts?
TY for ur help
In titanim backup there is a
[Contacts] in green. But there is also note, that it's for 2.1 update 1. So I'm not totaly sure about that.
But if Your contacts are not PHONE, but GOOGLE, simple synchronizing after flashing a new rom should be enough
try looking at google.com/contacts using Your google login to check if there are Your contacts there
if not - there are couple of apps that could help You with exporting Your contacts from Your phone to the "Cloud". It's convenient, You don't have to worry about backups.
Regarding SMS - it's the same situation. green [SMS/MMS] field in titanium. but it COULD be rom specific (so no migration 2.2 <-> 2.1), but I'm not sure, as I haven't tried that yet.
if You need more help, let me know
i have made a backup with my phone and gained a vcard, can i use that to?
and what is faster and works smoother 2.1/2.2?
I haven't tried any 2.2 ROM's, so sorry, can't help You there
I'm sure, that You can import csv and vcards in google contacts.
In 2.1 sense I see option to import vcards from SD card.
perhaps You could wait for someone more experienced with 2.2

[Q] Sense 2.5 missing file. Desperate for help.

Hello from Leeds UK
I'm desperate for help after stupidly deleteing a file from my Leo. Now it will not sync with mobile device centre on my laptop so I'm unable to use my Sprite PC back-up. When I turn the phone on it is unable to open Sense, I have access to all the start menu programs, I'm able to get the internet but its not getting a phone signal Is there a way of downloading sense 2.5 and re-installing it? I'm able to sync on my PC using Active sync but unfortunatly my back-up files are on my laptop running the Mobile device centre. Many thanks to anyone who can help.
Regards
Mick
Do you know what it was that you deleted?
Might be time for a hard reset....

If you have backups on your laptop. Hard reset your HD2 and then restore from your laptop

transfer the backup file to your sd card using a card reader, The file should be the same as the ones done on the phone through sprite back up.

[Q] Unable to reload Backup with upgrade from android 2.1 to 2.2

Hi, I had a few problems with my Streak so, O2 sent it off to be repaired. Before doing so I did a backup using the Dell sofware. On return they had given me a replacment phone and upgraded to 2.2. When I came to reload my backup the phone was not recognised by the software. After speaking to O2 and trying a few surggestions I gave up. None of my contacts etc had been synced with gmail.
After digging around a bit on the internet I found that the Dell backup software wich came with the phone and 2.1 was not compatible with 2.2 and an app was needed to backup before upgrading.
Does anyone know how I can access my backup file to get to my contacts which is in bm3 format. This appears to be password protected, when trying to open with winrar. If this is not possible does anyone know if I can go back to 2.1 then upgrade once I have all my contacts via the correct procedure.
Cheers in advance for any help

[Q] Is there a way to restore android deleted system file?

Hi everyone,
2 days ago I tried to update my aunts sensation xl and told her that it is better to update its ROM from 2.3.5 to 4.0.3.
So i created a google account in phone and added it in order to sync contacts....and after 2 hours, I thought that it has been synced.... but I was wrong.
After upgrading device to ICS, and adding the previous account that i made before upgrading, I was waiting for contacts to restore, but nothing happend....
I opened the gmail account on PC and saw that there was no contacts. So the only way for me to restore the contacts is to find a way to restore them from Phone device.
So,is there any software, either on phone or PC, to restore contacts from phone? or is there a way to have access to root folders and files of phone on PC to use a recovery program to restore "Contacts.db" file that was erased while flashing ICS?
I will appreciate any help from you guys to help me saving my reputation.....
Im sorry but those contacts are gone, you cannot undelete a file like that.
Also, for future reference, google only syncs contacts that you opt to sync when creating that contact (everytime you add a new contact, it prompts you where to save it, you would choose Google Sync)

Check the sim card's phonebook if they have any contacts and also check the sd card if they have any vCards left. If not then they are gone forever. You can also try to copy them from your aunt's old phone. (If she has one)

So you mean that i have to edit SIM contacts again? Add photo, edit numbers, merge and so and so.....?

1) click on thanks instead of saying thank you
2) You won't need to edit contacts if you already have them. But if they are gone then you would have to start everything from the beginning.
