[Q] Maybe I could not connect to 3G - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody,
there is something very strange with my HD2 (Orange FR) :
before I'm sure that there was the icon "3G" on the top right corner of the phone while I could connect to the 3G and then when I connected (to download the weather for instance) where was a second icone 3G with the antenna.
While I go in vacation in the south of France, I didn't see any more the second icon on the antenna. Maybe I make a mistake and I dreamed and I've never seen the second icon 3G with the antenna before... that's why I said "maybe" in the title .
To be sure I made speed test with a web site (I didn't find a tool for Win6.5 such like there is on android).
Download speed : 377 kbps
Upload speed : 420 kbps
Firstly, I'm surprised that the upload is greater than the download. I tried two times to be sure.
My package (Orange) allow me to use 3G+ but it is not always available at my location (not in a big town).
Please, could you indicate if there is a problem with my HD2 or if I could act on a specific setting or if I'm wrong and all is OK ? I tried to find the official/real speed of E, H, 3G 3G+ but I didn't find it.
I tried to change the radio : 2.10.50.28 and 2.12.50.02 under NetDrj ROM.
Now my config : Radio 2.11.50.26 and last Chucky ROM
Nothing changed with my new config.
Notice that I could go on internet with my phone, download weather etc.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Thomas

Resolved
I continued to search for answers to my problem, and finally I found :
http://htc-touch-diamond.forumactif...ctivesync-usb-f21/edge-3g-3g-resolu-t5370.htm
(in french)
Now I'm sure I made a mistake and I'd never seen the icon "3G" more the antenna...
For Orange FR there is no more simple "3G". All the network is on HSPDA and "H" is indicated on the HD2. If someone as more information he can post on this thread.
Thanks !

Problem with 3G/HSDPA only after upgrade

Good news - as a complete noob I followed instructions and have a working WM6 on my UK T-mobile Ameo. Bad news - my internet has become temperamental.
The 3G symbol changes to H after entering an address in either browser.
- Sometimes it loads the page and after a few seconds the H returns to a 3G.
- Sometimes it changes to H and displays "Loading..." and either hangs or loads the page after 30-60 seconds
- Sometimes it switches to and from 3G/H a few times and eventually shows a "page cannot be displayed" error.
- Similar temperamental behaviour in my email and weather applications.
The above is how it behaves immediately after I have run the network wizard, although tweaking with server DNS or Flight Mode on-off have not helped.
Don't seem to be any problems if I just use 'G' GSM only phone setting. Today I'm in central London.
Any suggestions please? Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks
Jonathan
You can turn off HSDPA on the settings menu with Ameo WM6, this will leave you with 3G speeds only but the difference will be minimal anyway unless you're downloading files or using remote desktop.
See if that helps
And watchout, if you use the wizard you will probably notice that the access point name of your T-Mobile provider is no longer "internet".

Do you know what the correct settings are for TMob UK?
Web&Walk
I have always used
Username - User
Password - one2one
APN - general.t-mobile.uk
And that is it - worked for me on every HTC device I have ever used
Uni's , Magician , Wizard , Hermes & now on the Ameo - I have never been billed outside of the W & W , and I have always got 3G or HSDPA where applicable
I think the offical Username is 'T-mobile' and the password 'internet'
Thanks for the suggestions.
The username/password combinations I tried all seem to work, although I'm sticking with the default from Network Wizard for now. I saw suggestions that using public DNS servers can speed up the "Loading..." wait.
I suspect the original Ameo ROM has HSDPA disabled for a good reason. For example, when loading Opera for the first time in a session, even with a blank start page, the software passes some information online. The time it takes the Ameo to switch from 3G to H for this often times Opera out and produces an error.
Even with HSDPA off I'm still getting regular errors but am not sure whether it's T-mobile coincidentally playing up, or the upgrade.
I think youll find HSDPA isnt disabled, it works, it just doesnt show the H.
I did a speed test on original TMob rom, and got far above 3g speeds.
I am based in Whitstable , Kent , and I have notced that T-mobile HSDPA performance can be a bit shaky every now and again - and the problems that you describe are a similar to what I have seen when the network is mucking around - with that data movement stopping and the indicator changing back and forth between 3G & H , I too thought it was a fault , but it went right on it's own

Rogers branded Hermes200 upgrade issue...

Hello all,
Well stupid me decided to upgrade my Rogers branded Hermes200 (TtYN) to wm6 without knowing everything I needed to. Installed HardSPL and then the HK English rom.
Phone portion works great
After searching and reading, I found the settings for connecting to the Internet for Rogers. Great.
Tried setting up active synce and it gave me the certificate not vailid error.... installed the cert on the new rom and with the h200 hooked up via usb to the computer it syncs up with my exchange server perfectly.
When I disconnect from the PC, direct push stops working....
When I force a send/receive.... it sits at 'connecting...' for a few minutes and if I'm lucking enough to be watching, it comes back with a 'connection error' message on the status bar before it flips back to number of messages in the inbox display...
The one BIG thing (not sure if it is big) is with the original ROM I'd get a 3G connection with serfing the net, doing data transfers, now I get an H connection, not sure if that is the issue, but it is the only thing I can see right now....
Any suggestions?

I can't really comment on the others, but your H vs. 3G issue isn't an issue at all. The fact that your device shows H just means that you have access to Rogers' new Vision network (HSPDA). Cooked ROMs use an H to differentiate HSDPA (3.5 generations technology, faster) from the 3G for UMTS (3rd generation technology, fast but not the fastest). Because HSPDA is an enhancement of UMTS and is built on top of it, a lot of Windows Mobile 5 ROMS (like the stock Rogers ROM) don't differentiate the fact that it's an HSDPA connection, even though it is, and just show a generic "3G". So... rest assured, the H thing is not a bad thing.

[Q] no internet connection / 3G with Sense builds

Hi,
can someone please help me.
On the sense builds (V3.1, V3.6, EVo v2.2), I cant get any internet connection at all (forget data drops, i havent got ANY connection / 3G)
I can set it up with Wifi, and it ALL runs perfectly.
I have 4 bars reception and can make calls.
if I turn WIFI off and I cant connect to any internet pages. where it should say 3G it has a little G with up and down arrows but can still make calls. On the V3.1 and v3.6 tried to switch to GSM auto as suggested in one thread, made no difference at all.
Am running ROm 3.14 with radio built in 2.15 i think.
check this - if I use an old build like froyostone 2.1 (non-sense) then it can connect to 3g no problem with internet, same ROM / Radio.
hope someone can help. I tried to put this up in the actual build threads and then nobody answers.
thanks

use the search on the andriod threats
There are more post about it and they do explain how to edit your network connections of your phone provider

[Q] 3G disconnect when downloading large file

Hey buddys,Droid X2 users in China have a big problem .anyone else knows how to solve it that 3G connection would be cutted off when downloading something (ie 10m) or viewing videos ?when we use 3G wirless served by China Telecom to browse websites or chat ,all things run normal, but once to download something or view videos the 3G connectiong will be cutted off at once, then 3G icon disappears and come back soon. Do u guys face the same problem as well? thanks.
It must have something to do with China's 3G service. We don't have that problem over here unless the device has a bad radio

[Q] data connection doesn't work

Hi,
my data connection doesn't work.
when I unlock the sim I get cell reception. The data connection icon changes between unconnected wlan and '2g' back and forth and then stopps at the wlan icon. Obviously it struggles to connect and fails.
What can I do? Where are the apn settings?
Version: .80

Release notes :
Mobile data is generally not supported, data is available via Wi-Fi only. However, for instructions on how to enable 3G on devices, please see the following G+ post by Ricardo Salveti.
At the end of the comments Alan Pope says that this thread is 'outdated' and 'shouldn't be used anymore'.
And Tony Espy claims that 'Network Manager should take care of auto-connecting your mobile data connection'.
...
sorry then. i can't set it up either. what really confuses me are the different channels . for example trusty which is ubuntu 14.04 sometimes has less features than the saucy channel (comparing by diferent screenshots i've seen) and i don't even know what proposed and customized means
sorry if this is off topic but how do you have trusty r80 when the last released rivision is 79 (according to my dual boot app)
The trusty-proposed channel contains the 80 image.

this might help out a bit . trusty proposed is now on r100 which should have more features than r80 and according to this it should do fine
edit: i just installed r101 and still can't see anything related to mobile data except the switch.
Same with 105.
Got Vodafone Germany btw.
r106 should be the most stable cause it has passed 402 tests ... doesn't say anything about data though :/
