[Q] Cleanup - XPERIA X10 Android Development

hi there i rooted my fone a couple of mins ago using the exploid method (026), it was a great success.., lemme go back to my question.., how can i clean up the apps that i don't need.,
in bin4ry's method (024) on step2 folder there's a file called cleanup.cmd i just have to edit it and run it.., it will remove all the unnecessary apps like the moxiersh*t on my (024) x10i..,
but when i used bin4ry's cleanup.cmd on my (026) is says "mount: operation not permitted"
i know they have different sources, but can somebody help me cleaning up my 026x10i?
any links?

Use titanium backup

Did you use the donate or free version of Titanium Backup? I have installed the free version but i still could not figure out how to delete or uninstall unwanted programs. Care to share how you did it? Thanks
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

long press the app u want 2 delete

nooo i dont need titanium backup.., what i said is.., the CMD(command) file in the root that can cleanup the apps using the computer not the phone itself..,

Jus use the cleanup file.. don't mount your usb, make sure usb debugging is on n c what happens!
as for titanium backup, there's nothing wrong with it.. does the job!! plus the full version can b used to freeze apps to c how the rest of your phone would react if u had actually uninstalled it!!
Sent from my rooted 026 X10i using swype via XDA!!

hi i still can't delete from titanium(free version).it doesn't give me an option to delete.
and from the cleanup file it tells me rm failed.red-only file system
yet the apps are still there!!(moxier, quadrapop etc.)
am i doing something wrong?

Download busybox of market and c if that confirms your root privileges..
if so then go into titanium n try your luck again
Sent from my rooted 026 X10i using swype via Xda

use exploid 1.08, once rooted again, open exploid app again, click unsecure shell, rerun the cleanup cmd. u should now be read/write mounted...

Make sure you edit the cleanup.cmd so it doesn't remove stuff you might need or want to keep.

You just tap the app, as long pressing gives you a different menu.

If I remember correctly, what I did was uninstall it with TB, then using roorexplorer navigate to data/app and remove the apk, then went to app-private and removed it from there too.

thanks man, finally got rid of it!

I use Titanium Backup Pro and Freeze the apps for now...
If you have root, you can download Root Explorer from the app store. Use it to browse to the app directory and just delete the apps you don't want. Another option is to rename the unwanted apps. For example, change APPNAME.apk to APPNAME.apk.bk ... then it will be "hidden" from the system. Restore it at anytime by removing the ".bk" extension.

Is there a free version of root explorer? Or a free way to rename these files? I don't really feel like paying $4 to remove bloatware.

Anytime I connect via my computer, it says permission denied for su. I know I have root, so I am a little confused. I can uninstall with Titanium Backup, but I was planning on keeping a copy of the apk, just in case. Is there any reason I would need this bloatware? Such as for Warranty or insurance? Other wise I'll just go and remove the worst of the bloat with Titanium backup. Thanks.

there is RUU downloads in the Dev forum that will get you back to where you need to be in case you want to warranty your phone and make it 100% stock again. Best thing to do before removing stuff is boot into clockwork recovery or use rom manager(from the market) and backup everything...then delete. if you come across a problem with deleting something jsut restore from a backup.

[Q] How to remove titanium backup and kernel manager lite from bamf 1.6.2?

Whenever I start titanium backup, my thunderbolt freezes. I have wiped several times all with the same result. Also I have the paid versions of these apps so I would like to use those instead. I have also tried to use the bamf toolkit to remove titanium backup and that cause the phone to freeze add well.

Going into settings > applications > manage apps, does it freeze if you try to remove it that way?
There is not an option to uninstall. The button is grayed out. I think it is installed as a system application. Since I can't post in the das bamf thread, I have to post here hoping that there is a flash I can do or some other app on the market place that can uninstall system apps.

You can delete the .apk for each file located in /system/app using root explorer or a file manager with root permissions. Since these were installed as system apps, they can't be uninstalled from the regular settings>manage apps menu, but you can delete with Root explorer.
I have deleted kernel manager this way - my pro key with titanium works with the system version, so I haven't deleted that.

Did you delete or move the apk? Reason I ask is that I moved it to my SD card (in case it caused issues) and realized that I wasn't hitting R/W in the upper corner, so it wasn't actually removing it, just copying the file in read-only mode.

You are a genius. I was in read only mode and the app I am using never warned me. I am using super manager. You have to set root permissions in the apps configuration.

Now, I have the same problem with it from the market. Seems like a bamf issue and not an app issue.

Get Root Explorer and use that, or if you're not sure and need to make sure you have root access just download busybox from the market and it will check to see if you have root, that's a fast way to determine if your root access is functioning or not.

Nevermind, I used viperboy scripts and a reboot later and the bloatware is gone from the app drawer as well. I'm not sure if it was viperboy scripts or titanium backup that removed it from the app drawer but a reboot helped.

Running into strange issue.
Have complete root. Using root explorer, root user granted.
When i first go into the program I can set to R/W. However, once R/W is set and then I go into the system folder it goes back to R/O. If I back out to the first page it goes back to R/W.
It's very weird that it'll only stay R/W on some folders and not others.
Any ideas what might cause this?
UPDATE: I uninstalled root explorer and downloaded ES File Explorer. Gave ES root permissions, and hurrayyyy. I can delete the bloatware.

freezing apps that you dont know what they do is a very easy way to get a bootloop
you can use the system dump to fix it if you know how to use adb a bd push the apps you froze
alternatively
if you can get the phone to connect to your computer you can use adb shell to unfreeze you frozen apps with the following commands
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
su
cd /system/app
ls
//look at what apps have .fro extensions added
rn appname.apk.fro appname.apk
//repeat
that will fix it

not at all. be my guest if you want to try. A. i dont think that astro can access the root folder last time i tried, might have changed since, you would need to use a file manager that can access, mount rw/ro, and change permissions of the system files and/or folders in the root.
B. i tried it already and everytime you try to reinstall the system apps through a file manager it says installation failed.
You have to put all the system apps in the folder AND set the right permissions

Well, it appears that if you were like me and deleted one of those applications, you're SOL. I've diligently went through the system dump provided, and added all the items I was missing into my /system/app, changed all the permissions to the correct ones, reboot..and still nothing. Even did a full system wipe/factory reset afterwards to no avail. I know this method worked with other phones, but apparently, the RAZR kernal doesn't allow for it. It seems the only solution would be if a SBF was created that can fully restore the phone to factory install...fingers crossed! So what can we take away from this...don't be an idiot like me and delete apps...just freeze them. I think I must be the only one who screwed that up...=/

[Q] How to get rid of the update notification?

The thing is everybody is talking about downgrading to a .42 or .58 firmware version, then root the phone and update it to .62 without losing the root. But I already installed apps and removed some system apps that I don't need, so ovbiously I have problems when I try to update via OTA. So, I decided I will stay with my .58 fw version, without updating it, maybe until the ICS update comes out. But every single time I connect the update notification appears there in the status bar and I wanna get rid of it. I know if you go to Manage Applications--Update center--Clear data, the notification quits, but then it appears again when I connect again. So I wanna know if there is a way to get rid of this notification so it doesn't appear anymore.
Maybe the Update Center app can be freezed? Or will that make the phone get problems or something? :/
Yes,you can freeze it using titanium backup.
Or use root explorer to copy UpdateCenter.apk to SD card and then delete it from system/app/.If you want to do OTA update, just remove it back.

Root ur phone..then install the attached apk of SYSTEM APP REMOVER..make a backup of update centre..then uninstall it using this application..have fun bro
an easier method would have been to blacklist Update Center against connecting to the internet, using Droidwall, and then clear the data from application settings!
Naah.

1. Manualy delete target using root explorer
2. Set target premissions to 000
3. Use app like titanium or system app remover to uninstall target
