SMS reply path? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright. I bought Bell's Version of the Vibrant.
Within the first few days i messaged someone using a accidental area code (426) Instead of 416.
and now i cannot figure out how to change it back.
Every time i receive a message from said person, it sets my reply path to 426.
From what i can tell, its not saved on my sim or contacts.
So i Don't exactly know how to fix it.
Any ideas?

Anyone know anything??

I'm still riddled by this problem.
Anyone? Please.

[Q] MMS Error - T-Mobile's fault?

Hey, so, I haven't really cared much about this, but it's gotten annoying lately.
Sometimes, when I send/receive a picture message, it doesn't send/receive.
All I get is a text from T-Mobile. (I think?)
It's;
Sender: 202
Message: Your MMS message could not be delivered. Invalid Prepaid account.
First, no, I am not on a prepaid account.
Second, I did search around, not much I could find.
Third, I tried sending a picture message to myself and whatnot.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Ya, that sounds like a T-Mobile thing. Have you tried reflashing your current rom? Or going back to stock?

I did a live chat with them, they made me remove my sim card and give them some info, but it didn't fix anything. I'll try calling tomorrow maybe.

I've flashed a lot of ROMS and been on stock, same error. No idea what's wrong.
By the way, enjoy your free 'thanks,' I missed the multiquote button by a long shot, ahah.
Does it happen with every mms you send or specific number?

It happens with just a few MMS I send/receive, not always. And no, it's not always the same, specific number. Although, I do text a certain number more often than most, still. I considered being their phone, but I doubt it because it happens on other numbers/texts.
Go into your contact you know you cannot send to and edit the number to +11234567890.
Go back to your mms and delete the current thread of that contact if any and the try to resend the picture.
A lot of the time this will fix the sms/mms but I have never heard of the text being sent back from tmobile.

Text message time stamp

Hi
Is there any way to change the time stamp on received text messages from the time I received it to the time it was sent? If I have the phone off or out of range, I need to know when it was sent.
Thanks

Yes, there is a way to change it. Could you not find it when you searched for terms such as SMS and time?

The only solutions I could find is to install a mod, but I need the phone rooted for that or download another SMS app from the market.
Maybe my searching skills ned tweaking, but I can't see a simple way to do it on the unrooted Stock ROM with the standard SMS app.
Anyone able to help me please?
DT
I had the same problem. From what I gathered, there was an issue with the time stamps while on certain nerworks (mine was on Rogers). There is an app in the store that fixes it. its called SMS Time Fix. I'm not sure if you need your phone rooted for this since mine is rooted but its worth a try. It fixed my problem.

I am still having issues and I am still unable to find a solution to the problem.
It is not the issue that is described in this thread when refering to the Rogers provider http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181716 and the SMSFix only makes it worse. It isn't a network issue, it is a phone software issue.
I have an unrooted Telstra phone and I won't update or root it until I have a Telstra ROM to be able to flash back for warranty purposes.
In the Windows Phones it was a registry tweak, so surely in the Android phones there is some sort of tweak to correct this.
My phone is off between 6pm and 8am every day, any texts I receive I need to know when they were sent so that when I switch my phone on at 8am, they all don't show 8am as the time stamp. If it was sent at 10pm the previous night, then I need the sms app to show 10pm the previous night.
Hopefully someone can assist, as I have searched and I am yet to find a solution that works.

Blank message from Anonymous sender after MMS

Every time I receive a picture in an MMS I get another message from "Anonymous" no subject. I open it and it say "message not found" I receive the message multiple times until I delete the original message. This happens in the stock messaging app and in Chomp. Uninstalled Chomp and it still happens on stock.
Rooted running UnNamed v1.0.1
Bump for some help. This is really annoying

Does this happen when you try to send a message to certain people, or just one person in particular? I wonder if maybe it's a read receipt notifying you that it was delivered? I'm on a custom ROM so I can't check. Try going into messaging, hit menu, then select settings.
Otherwise, maybe it's a carrier issue.
No Trojan this happens when I receive picture messages. From anybody on multiple carriers. May be an at&t issue. I think this happened on my Infuse too but don't remember if I ever resolved it

It happened to me on my Atrix. I found if I ignored it and didn't open it, it actually deleted itself. As far as I can tell, it's related to read receipts. Unnamed Rom doesn't offer the ability to request them and I don't think Stock did either but I also don't use a 3rd party messaging Application. Try turning off Read/Delivery Receipts on your device and see what happens.

From what I have been able to tell, it is a Carrier Issue AND read receipt issue.
Anyone found a fix for it yet?
Happened to me today, we both use GoSMS but I think she has enabled delivery receipt.
did you happened to fix it?
I love how people are complaining that this was brought up again in another thread, which in fact led it to being locked even though there is no answer on this board. It is really annoying getting those messages. I have searched "blank anonymous", "blank message", and just "anonymous". Only two threads come up that are related to this issue. This one, and the one that was just locked. So if anyone truly has an answer to this issue and doesn't worry about trying to look cool by insulting users, please provide the answer, or at least point us in the right direction.
Thanks
I found a way that worked for my phone. I'm using ChompSMS and I would always get those and they would keep popping up.
All I had to do was open Chomp settings > SMS & MMS Network > MMS Network Settings > set "auto retrieve" to UNCHECKED.
I cant confirm that this will work (especially if you dont use Chomp as default), but it did work well for me. Good Luck

I've tried that. It doesn't do anything. Once I download the mms I'll get the anonymous message.
I've had this issue when I was on my Captivate. I tried flashed a few different ROMs and even went back to stock and the issue was still there. It was one of the reasons why I upgraded to the GS2 before my contract expired. However, the issue appeared on the new phone. The real problem was that my SIM card was messed up. Once they replaced my SIM card, everything was working fine again.

Text Messages Show Up As Wrong Contact Name

Anyone experience this? My gf will text on her LGOG and when she receives text the wrong name pops up but under the #info it shows the right names #. You think having her contacts transfered over from her iPhone to her Android at at&t is causing a problem.

I had this happen a couple of times after flashing new ROMs. It seemed to fix itself after a couple of reboots.
Sent from my LG Optimus G.
I had this happen when I had the same number saved under 2 different names. I'm not sure how it happened, if this is the problem just delete the wrong one and it should fix itself.

My wife is seeing the same problem on her phone. She will send a text to somebody but the reply will say it is somebody else. Rebooting the phone then assigns the message to the correct person. We have already checked the contacts to see if there was any duplicate info, but that is not the issue. Might just run a custom rom and hope that fixes the problem.

I thought about going that route, but ended up just flashing Vanilla RootBox on it instead. Haven't had the problem on that rom. Now just the occasional reboot.
I had this problem this morning received text from my wife under my coworkers contact info as though it came from him. When I replied back under his contact info she received the reply. Very frustrating. He hasn't replied to any of my text this morning. May not be receiving them.

Incoming calls have +1 on numbers? Acts as intentional number?

Running beans rom and when I get a call it always shows a+1 then the number and the phone thinks it ab international number so I have to remove it to make the call. Any way around this? I'm willing to change roms if someone can confirm a different rom doesn't do this.
Thanks a bunch

I'm on Beans as well. I never noticed it, but it looks like mine is the same way, it has appended a "1" to all my contacts. I rarely make calls, and when I do I almost never use contacts db, but I can see how this would be annoying. My incomming call log does however show the numbers correctly. Honestly I would not even be willing to say it's Beans that has done this. It has been so long since I used the contacts dialer, that my contacts could have been appended and backed up and restored by google who knows when.
Later,
Jason
**Edit** I take it back, I looked through more of them, and it seems random as to whether they have the 1, and if you truly mean +1 as you said in the original post, I dont see that showing up anywhere, in my contacts or call log. GL
I know what you mean mine has done that I just edit and delete the one then save so it annoying but deal -able ya know
