[Q] Notification Panel Transparent - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using:
Vibrant6 Eclair 2.1 flashable
RyanZA's lag fix
Fightspit's Super Circle Battery with %
My notification panel was messed up before I installed super circle battery. Any body else having this problem. It's really irritating me for some reason. It just looks broken. Check out the pics. The first pick is my homescreen, the second is full notification panel and the third is an empty notification panel. You shouldn't be able to see the icons... it should just be all white.
Anyone else having this problem?

I am as well, and I appear to be set up the same way with Vibrant6 and the RyanZA lag fix. I noticed that it occurred with just the Vibrant6 ROM though.
Do you think it might be just designed that way?

I ran into the same issue, and was able to resolve it by doing so:
I highly reccomend doing a nandroid backup first
1. Install MetaMorph from the android market
2. Visit the ClearBar v.0.3 post in the Themes & Apps forum
3. Download the clear-to-stock.zip & place it in the AndroidThemes folder of your internal SD card
4. Run MetaMorph & install/extract the clear-to-stock.zip theme
5. Install ONLY the "SubTheme: twframework-res.apk" theme (Morphs the pull-down notification list)
6. Reboot
That puts it back to stock, but it may remove other small UI customizations.

I don't see why it would be designed that way... It sucks. maybe if it was opaque it would look cool. It just looks broken now. you shouldn't see icons you can't click.
Is there maybe a notification panel mod I could flash that, while it might be different, would fix the see-through problem?

lol... Thanks noobish.
Was writing my last post while you were writing yours and you've answered my question.

It worked.
Thanks again Noobish.

[MOD] I9000 *matte* skin and accurate battery *10/5/2010*

First and foremost, this would not have originally been possible without all the hard work zimphishmonger and the3dman13 did to bring fighspit's original battery mod to the vibrant, please see the original thread here, and give them some thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756441
I'm also borrowing zimphishmonger's warning, as i think it works to keep warning messages standard across all these battery mod threads.
WARNING: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup prior to installing any modification, including this one. You are making the decision to install this on your own, and I am not responsible for anything nuclear that may happen to your device.
UPDATE.. I lost count (10/5/2010)
So I dig Eugene's Frankin-twiz rom's, but I still want to keep my accurate battery mod, and well, I think his glossy-black skin is ugly. I also think the stock vibrant touchwiz skin is ugly (for the love of all that's holy samsung, why did you decide the vibrant would be the ONLY galaxy s phone to get your stupid glossy version of touchwiz?!)
So, I ported my battery mod to frankin-twiz and at the same time, ripped all the matte (non glossy) drawable's from the I9000 touchwiz skin, and added in my colored status/signal, mms, calendar, music player, and gmail icons, restored the black background for the power control widget, added HTC's weather icons to GenieWidget.apk, changed to the stock I9000 bootup and shutdown animation and sounds, and of course, I probably missed something else too, lol. You can see some (semi-outdated) screenshots here: http://picasaweb.google.com/113127051130934911253/AndroidStuff?feat=directlink
Also, if you find yourself being a typography nerd like me, you can use this zip to switch the default system font to Comfortaa I take NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for making the original font, or the android port, I only re-packaged the files into a Clockwork-mod zip file for the vibrant. This will also change the lockscreen clock font to comfortaa, but ONLY if using the default android lockscreen.
Comfortaa system fonts: http://www.4shared.com/file/hYu1TYHL/Comfortaa_system_fonts_ONLY.html
New for ftwiz_final: I'm including an extra version with the samsung calendar AND the AOSP mms app, per Eugene's thread, since it resolves issues with being unable to send sms/mms messages. I'm also including the newest version of my battery mod (this is the version I personally like best and use daily), based on the upright/vertical icons, but with colored borders/outline, and a smoother charging animation (thanks to untermensch!) This can be applied on its own, after you flash either of the other versions. If flashed without flashing one of the other versions first, it DOES NOT contain the gmail/calendar/mms/music player icons, or the startup & shutdown animations and sounds. You can see a screenshot added to the post below too.
Download links here, ftwiz_final ONLY:
Removed, sorry, too many people use other people's work without giving credit, and it leads to way too many headaches, he-said/she-said, ignorance, etc.
Everything should flash via clockwork recovery fine, place the zip on the root of your INTERNAL /sdcard directory, reboot into clockwork, I recommend wiping the cache & dalvik-cache, then install zip from sdcard, locate the specific zip, reboot.
Enjoy, cheers everyone, and if you come in here posting bugs/whining for help without first making sure you cleared your cache and dalvik-cache, then I'm just going to ignore you,
Looks Great!!!
Thanks alot works well on my phone
i love it! not a big fan of the round battery icon, so this is great
Great work! Glad to see everyone is making their own customized battery images. We are gonna have a battery collection soon.
just a quick update to the OP with a new version with some colored/themed status icons.
cheers

I did, switched from the green circle. The battery indicator works fine.
I used the circle one but saw this with the other colored icons and thought they were cool. Seems that they don't quite work properly. Stock the GPS indicator shows in the notification bar any time it's on. With the new icons from the op the indicator is only on if I'm in an app that is using the GPS. I'm going to flash back to stock then to the battery only mod (i figure I need to to switch the other icons?)

Hi,
Thanks for trying it out. I have no idea how there might be issues since this is literally just img replacement from the segmented green circular battery mod, so however icons should work with that mod, is how they should work with this mod.
Maybe run a fix permissions from rom manager and see if that helps?
Also, my GPS icon has never worked like you described, even stock, (in other words, mine isn't always visible in notification bar, even when not in an app actively using gps, its displayed only when using an app that needs GPS, and disappeared when exiting the app.)
If you want to try and modify your own framework-res.apk with these files, I may upload just my png images once I'm done replacing/coloring all the icons I feel like modifying.
Thanks again for trying it out though, cheers
Lastly, I got bored and colored the wifi icons, cell-signal icons, and vibration indicator icon, I'll post the framework-res.apk in the first post, but won't package a new update.zip until I decide I'm done modifying icons, lol.

Excellent work! I like the new colored signal icons. Consider possibly creating a metamorph of it, as they are very easy to update.

I'll be switching back to your colored icons and battery now.
And as soon as you are done changing the icons and create a zip I'll switch to those. I like the color.

Hey again,
Glad I wasn't screwing up phone's, lol.
Anyway, I'm still working on changing all the icons, can't seem to decide where to stop yet, since now I've started modifying icons for other apps, gmail, mms, google voice, trillian, etc. And of course, now that I've gone with a slightly brighter green in the other icons, I may go back and tweak the color of my battery icon to match.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of some of the icons I'm mostly finished with (though for some reason I'm not digging the alarm icon, anyone have color suggestions for it?)
cheers,
=)

Yeah...sorry about that. Anyway I hate that stupid icon to begin with so maybe something totally different? I did a GIS for alarm clock icon and there are a lot of possibilities. I think that maybe the stock one with a red square and white clock could be good.
Edit: Maybe something like this

If you don't already have it, I suggest you install Koush's Clockwork Recovery. You can install it quickly by using ROM Manager.
Once you boot into the recovery ROM, you can back up your entire phone using Nandroid (highly advised) and then you're free to experiment to your heart's content.
Now back to your question: you can save the file to your internal SD card and search for it using the 'Install from SD' (or something like that) option in the Clockwork ROM, install it and reboot.
Good luck, friend.
What's the right way to revert this? framework-res.apk restore?
Updated OP with newest mod.
I think I'm done with this for a while now, though I might zip all the png files if someone else wants to try and make this into a morph when the app gets updated.

Hi,
Yes, restoring your backed-up framework-res.apk will restore the battery mod. If you used the newer zip that also includes the Gmail icon mod, then you'll need to restore Gmail.apk too /system/app too.

[Q] How to Hide the clock on the taskbar?

I've seen threads in other forums for other devices where they just modified a file with like one line of code to tell the phone to put the clock off screen, also i heard that CM 6.1 will have this option I was just wondering if someone could create a CWM flashable zip for me that I could use that would remove the clock from the task bar and make it so the first this was the battery indicator?
I'm on the frankin-twiz final rom btw don't know if this would effect the ability to do this or anything?

I have been dying to figure out how to remove the taskbar clock if at all possible, didn't wanna start another thread as I noticed it was asked sometime ago, just wanted to get an UPDATE if someone could reply with some great solutions that would be great. Running the Newest Bionix-V ROM FYI
i saw this exact thing the other day i think it was in the theme section. ill look and post a link if i can find it
ok here it is... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929031
looks like its not a zip you can flash in CWM you just extract and push. looks pretty simple i didnt try it myself i kinda like the clock in the bar but looks like others are having no problem according to the thread.
I've done this and confirm its crazy easy. just move the service.jar to system/framework and reboot. reboot will take like 5 minutes, dont panic.
here is my thread with before/after pics:

Thanks guys for the help, TOTALLY liking the new look with no taskbar clock!

Themes for steves 1.5.0 & 1.4.6 incl batt%, icons, status/notif & window animations
My Modaco thread: http://android.modaco.com/content/d...-status-notif-window-animations/#entry1505455
~~~THEY ALSO WORK WITH 1.5.0 (PHEW!!)~~~
Includes icons, colour % battery icon, full status bar, full notifications menu and window animation.
All have been tried and tested! Hope you like them... any feeback would be great, requests are welcome (please state the battery icon style/colour, theme colour/style, preferred icons & which window animation)
You need to be on dj_steves v1.4.6
(it may work with other versions but I have only tested the current 1.4.6, post a request if you have a different build and i will do my best to help )
It will not work if you are using themekika!
~~~HOW-TO~~~
***FIRST OF ALL CLEAR DALVIK CACHE VIA ADVANCED OPTIONS IN CLOCKWORKMOD OR STREAKMOD*** (this is necessary for the window animations to work properly)
1. back-up not necessary (all data is preserved and re-flash 1.4.6 restores perfectly)
2. Copy/move .zip to the root of your SD card (no need to re-name)
3. Power off and into recovery (hold volume up/down + power)
4. Option 2 install from sd... wait for clockworkmod to load
5. Select install .zip from SD then pick from SD manually.
6. Reboot once install has completed (may take 2-5 mins)
7. Enjoy
(if you dont like it, simply flash 1.4.6 again, all will be as it was)
After various tests... It seems with each of my themes you can simply flash from one to the other via clockworkmod, i have all of the on my sd and can swap whenever! (please report back if this does not work for you)

Unfortunately I can't change the black text. In brief, the rom is set to white status and black text, I use UTO kitchen to cook and it only lets me change the bar colour not text. I don't fancy messing with major changes myself so the best I could do was to make it slightly transparent and lighter. I will be cooking some more today
Considering its android... Im SO surprised its so difficult to tweak basic stuff like colors. Why do you think dell did that...?

Hi Tina,
Any tips on trying to make a blacktaskbar with coloured icons and a coloured battery with percentage?? I can change the text colour to white. But I am unsure on using the kitchen, as it seems trying to cook a blacktaskbar is difficult?
ie can we use icons for blackstatus bar (ie with white text) and does the select taskbar colour section actually work?
(I assume that you use the 1.4.6 framework-res.apk file).

[THEME] Nookie Blue Froyo 2.2 on EMMC v1.04

Nookie Blue by Misfit343
OK ladies and germs, this page is still a little rough but like everything with time it wont be such an eye sore...
Disclaimer: Just like every thing else you find on XDA, I am not responsible for your actions or choices, by this point you have already voided your warenty so can't blame me for that, and if you nook goes tits up when you use my stuff not my fault... ye be warned!
That being said I will never realease something that could potentally damage your nook, and any xml or framework changes will be heavily tested on my own property before I ever provide a copy to the public.
OK it has been requested that a black theme with a touch of red be my next project i'm hoping by the end of the weekend I will have a new theme out there for you guys
Misfits Nookie Blue v 1.04 is ready to download!!
http://www.multiupload.com/0ZQFOZ52E1
v1.03
http://rapidshare.com/files/445405534/Misfits_Nookie_Blue_V1.03-signed.zip
Update i almost have my black and red theme complete just working out a couple bugs, im also hoping to incorporate a 1% battery mod to both themes... still getting a boot loop as of now... this is what is delaying me at this time
Change log:
v1.04 no services mod
added samuelhalff's Network/carrier removal mod to the package,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924916
v1.03
Initial release
Blue themed icons boxes and selectors
Added boot animation
Boot is the 2.1 nook animation for now, I apologize again for having no clue who made it but who ever you are you rock
Added a hand full of notification tones
Working on:
I'm trying to perfect the shut down animation
Startup and shut down sounds
Different notification bar, may go with clear for main bar
Investigating clock color change
And adding themed apps to match
I have been unable to get this to flash to Froyo when running from the micro SD, may just be my lack of knowledge on running from a micro SD but you guys are welcome to pull apart my zips and pull what you need, if you need instruction on how to apply my stuff without CWM let me know and I will post a walk through.
Ok here are some basic screen shots so you can get a feel for it
for now until I can figure out how how to change the font color for the clock on the notification bar to something other than black, I have set the bar to blue so the clock is visible
All popups that are controlled through the framework have a light blue glow, and highlighting is blue, battery gauge it a liquid battery that i got from the hero themes (I apologize for not remembering who i borrowed it from, its much appreciated tho)
the back ground is from Flikie wallpapers, but have found it in other places too
http://www.multiupload.com/WLBHB6PO25
this is the original framework with the black notification bar you will loose your clock with this
just copy paste this to your /system/framework and reboot
another page for me...
now im just being greedy
Just to be clear, you use CWR booted from an SDCard not, on the Internal eMMC Froyo, right? Mine CWR was wiped out after putting Froyo on eMMC. Thanks.

Yes I still have to use the card haven't yet figured out how to put it back. should be able to just drop this to the SD-card reboot into CWR and flash zip. Will know more when I get home and sign the zip... cant at work.
Other wise I will just post my framework-res.apk and the people who have ADB or root explorer can just paste to the /system/framework file.
I would rather get the zip running because I can add boot and shut down ani's and sound files, and other goodies
Thanks! Sounds promising!

1. Sometimes I have an odd problem. Apps that are installed not from the market force closes. On some apps this problem fixes itself after half a day or something like that. Magic, isn't it? I remember reading in some ROM thread that broken APK signatures may cause force close problem. The question is how can i fix it?
2. Is there a way to replace current transparent status bar to default one?
3. Is there a way to remove recent apps from notification box? It really feels sluggish now and lacks some space.
4. Is it possible to get default 2.1 lockscreen running? If so, what would I need to do to get one running? However this is more like for experimentation
5. Is there a way to *lock* apps like Phone and Messages in memory so they could always respond as fast as possible. I remember them being auto-killed on some roms... I currently didn't experience such behavior on this ROM since I didn't get any calls but I would like to be sure
6. I suppose I could manage to find this one easily but since I'm asking already... Where could I find old market app?
7. I'm thinking of making swap file and enable Compcache since GB eats memory pretty fast. I've seen them doing magic on Heroine (Sense 2.1) ROM. I'm gonna try these tweaks when I find some spare time... Has anyone tried something like that on this ROM? Was it worth it?
Well I think thats it for now. I'm not afraid of (adb) shell so if some answers involves using it that would not be a deal breaker

3. you can download and install "Remove recent apps from status bar" under Options from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090186
4. you can try this lockscreen for Wildfire which is similar to default 2.1 lockscreen for Hero, download and install "Wildfire Lockscreen" from the same thread mentioned above.
Cheers!

I found that if you select the slate skin, you get the status bar back and the whole rom feels faster. I also like the blue button highlights.
Thank you for your answers
Prof Peach I am currently using Slate theme but it just doesn't feel right

I have found out that this problem is related to sd-card. It seems to be mounted as read only and some programs force closes when they cant write to that sd-card. I suppose this kind of stuff should be defined somewhere (maybe some ini file). So now the question is how can I make it writable.
P.S. I doubt it's my cards fault since I can access it through recovery USB mount without any problems.
P.P.S. I cant mount sd-card as disk drive through ROM.
P.P.P.S. I am also using LVX 0.6.2 so that may be a problem... I'll try flashing 0.5 when i get home
I guess I'm gonna need to reflash the ROM <looking for encouragement >

1. I think I've fixed it. I reflashed the ROM without wiping everything and now SD card works as it should, no FC's after that..
2. I have changed theme to Slate and then just accidentally changed back to default theme and the status bar is not transparent anymore
3. As stated few posts above the mod from SalsaSense works perfectly.
4. Same as 3.
5. It does seem to work well so I think it may not be needed here. However it would still be interesting to have some information about this.
6. Seems that old market app does not want to work with this ROM.. Oh well..
7. I've found out that compcache is not compiled into LVX kernel (or not enabled) so I could not test it out. About swap I did not test it either since atm my sd-card is too slow to even begin with something like that.
I hope this information will be useful to someone.
However I still have some issues... The phone drains battery in a day or so while doing nothing. Thats odd since with older sense 2.1 roms I could manage to push 3 to 5 days with light phone usage (really light, like 1 call a day, 3 texts and 10 mins browsing and of course alarm clock). However I did not use LVX kernel back then and governor was ondemand where now govenor is smartassv2. So battery life may not be entirely roms fault.
I'm gonna try to wipe battery stats and see how it goes then.
EDIT: Seems that wiping battery stats helped somehow. I don't have any idea how battery stats works, seems strange...

Well the thing is I used Slate theme from the beginning and then after having problems and reflashing ROM without wiping any data etc I changed theme to Default one. Since then the status bar is just like the original one, no transparency.
I have also flashed a mod that removes recently used apps from notification bar so maybe that has something to do with this. Strange.

If you want the normal statusbar, just flash the battery mod from the optionals in the cdma thread....
Sent from my HTC Hero using xda premium
The battery mod just changes battery indicator, notification bar is still transparent.
