[METAMORPH] Settings Icons - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Update: Changed a couple of icons to make them clearer.
EDIT: New screen shots added. Fixed the folder structure issue.
So, I was getting tired of looking at the off-white icons in the Settings, and I like how some of the Droids (and possibly others) have colored icons in the Settings menu. I whipped this up quickly this afternoon and liked the way it turned out.
No known issues, but you still apply this at your own risk. I am not responsible if it breaks your phone, your home, or your back.

by any chance did this break your wifi/gps settings? I made a sense settings morph but trying to open the gps or wifi setting results in a fc... just wondering if maybe it was just mine...

Nope. Wireless and GPS are both working fine. This morph was strictly just image replacements for the icons.

same thing I did... hmm i wonder what I did wrong?
edit: Just built a whole new settings morph from scratch and the same thing happened
Settings/wireless and networks/ wifi settings and I get a FC...

File structure from the unzip looks wrong. If you go back into metamorph and pick existing themes -> settingsiconmod and go down an extra folder, the XML file is there. Select that and apply.
I will fix the zip later tonight.

There was an extra subfolder that you had to go into to get to the theme control file (the xml). It caused an error in Metamorph (invalid theme control file) when you were unzipping it. It would still work, but you had to go back into Metamorph after it errored out and select it manually. I removed the extra subfolder so it should be in the right spot and Metamorph should not give the error.
I am going to be working on a Morph for the Dialer too soon. I am not a fan of the blue that Samsung chose for everything. Too pale. I am not sure what color(s) to go with yet, but I am going to play around a bit with it.

Looks cool. I did 1.2 and it I guess does not have the cool background over the 4 shortcuts in the drop down.
Looks good, about to run it on my international Galaxy S, will let you guys know how it goes.
Same issue of framework-res.apk hanging, but everything else seems to be running fine.
I saw you m mentioned black apps metamorph... Is that a theme from the market or something?
Pooped from my Samsung Vibrant using XDA app...
Dont mind the skidmarks...
S15, did you flash this on top of my morph? I did and mines the same way... Still no words under the 4 quick shortcuts..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
how long does the install take for everyone... mine hangs for quite a long time, and i usually pull the battery...
^^ correct, that is what I did... It's a shame, this theme looks sexy.
Will have to flash back to stock if coming from my morphs I guess.... And delete all the battery Icons if you have a segmented battery animation...
Not sure why this isn't working for any of you guys. Both versions flashed for me on the first time without a problem. I am using Vibrant7 now.
Though I have noticed a few things that might cause problems with installing any metamorphs and here are a few of them...
1. Lag fixes...For some reason with some of the lag fixes I have noticed that metamoprhs no matter how many times you try don't apply like they should. So if this is the case for your lag fix the solution is simply to apply the metamorph before you apply the lag fix, and then it will carry over with your lag fix. Just make sure you get it right before you apply the lag fix or else you'll have to redo everything again.
2. Turn on USB debugging...sometimes this causes metamorph to freeze up if it is not on.
For those of you just looking for the icons and all black bar I have made a mash up of this Minimal theme and Black bar Gloss theme because it has more of the framework mapped at this point. It seems the update zip will flash correctly regardless of any lag fixes that may cause interruption in Metamorphs. So I use
the zip each time I wanna make any modifications and just add the edits into it.
I made 2 flasheable versions with Fightspit's Super Circle Battery version E and an accurate battery mode i made for the Captivate if someone wants to try and make versions for the Vibrant would be nice since i'm not sure if i will have the time to do it because of a hurricane and storm alert was announced for the up coming days.

-I'm not responsible for anything you do to your phone-
As of now, this has only been tested on AxuraJL5. If you test this on Nero, and it works, please report.
Screenshots:
This theme is based off of, and includes, the original framework from AxuraJL5 ROM.
Main Features:
-Voltage wallpaper
-Data icon mod
-Blue accurate battery mod
-Blue subtext in notification menu
-Phone.apk framework changed to blue
-Notification pull-down menu edits
Installation:
1. NANDROID BACKUP FIRST
2. Download FroyoVoltageJL5.zip via link below.
3. Unzip, and place unzipped folder in the AndroidThemes folder on your sdcard.
4. Open Metamorph and click "pick existing themes", located FroyoVoltageJL5 and select it
5. DO NOT CLICK APPLY ALL! Apply all subthemes individually, and in the order they are displayed.
6. Apply TWframework-res.
7. Apply framework-res, reboot.
8. Apply Phone. After this applies you will get bombarded with force closes. DO NOT WORRY, this is normal. Pull your battery, reboot again, and your morph is complete.
**Froyo doesnt seem to like morphs, so you actually may need to reboot a couple times for changes to be complete. It has nothing to do with the theme.
**If you are applying this to your AxuraJL5 ROM, you will not be able to see your time clock in the status bar, because the clock that comes with the ROM is black, and so is the status bar background of this theme. If you want to fix this, I recoded the services.jar file which needs to be installed seperately. It doesnt take long at all. The file, and instructions, can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912223 ---- THIS FILE CAN ONLY BE USED WITH AXURA JL5!!!!
---------------------------------------------
LauncherPro Dock: This is a cool dock i found through Google search. I did not create this, credit goes to Google search

1.Save image to desired location on sdcard.
2. Go LP settings>Appearance Settings>Dock Background>Custom

Bionix-V 1.3.1 big theme issue that not many people noticed. Fix it = Small Reward :)

So there is a framework issue in bionix-v 1.3.1 that seems to screw up the alignment for the searh buttons in most apps that have the option. I traced the problem to 3 files.
I can't seem to get them to align.
textfield_search_pressed.9.png
textfield_search_selected.9.png
textfield_search_default.9.png
It is probably a simple padding edit in an xml file in the framework-res.apk, but I don't have the knowledge to fix it. I managed to trace the issue but that is as far as I can get. If anyone can point me to a fix or guide me through the process of aligning the search buttons, i will reward you a few bux through paypal.
This makes bionix-v look ugly ass hell when you are trying to search! Other than that the rom is amazing! Great battery life, great speed, overall great performance!

We would have to create a metamorph... but i dnt kno how to create one theres a thread that shows how to do it just google "how to create a metamorph" and click on the first link... im not at home right now so i dnt have time to look at all the videos... im egg hunting with the kids so u kno its gonna be a long day...
P.S. but anyways the framework is based on the oeiginal one that tKoHaXoR provided... so everything will remain the same the only thing that will change is the files that were changed...
FYI
this framework is already heavily modified,
darned daffy .9 images again! no good deed goes unpunished
Update
The problem is in the btn_search* and textfield_* images, when I replace them with the stock images the searchbox displays correctly.
Incidentally I had the same problem with my theme and never really noticed it until it was pointed out by this thread, I got my button and textfield images from a sense rom dump and they haven't been edited by me so it appears they were broken to begin with too.
Update:
was just playing with another bionix mod and noticed the problem was still there....
its ic_btn_search.png (the magnifing glass, microphone and arrow images for the right button) the one in bionix is just a 72x72 pixel copy of one of the other ic_buttons and it's too big. 38x45 is the original size and restores the search bar in bionix when its resized or replaced.
Bounty
f-ing narcissistic open source community!
Is the problem the buttons or the search bar/box? Looks to me like the search bar/box is lower than it should be. The bottom is cut off. I'm unclear as to which you all think is messed up.
it's actually the magnifying glass image in the button to the right of the text field that is causing the problems, because it's the wrong size it is somehow effecting the way the whole panel is drawn. When the magnifying glass image is replaced with the proper image the whole panel is drawn correctly.
I agree, & what about the Contacts Tab too - in Firefly Dialer, 2.2.1 & Ginger ROM's
I hope what you found helps. That has always driven me nut and I wondered why no one noticed or cared to fix it?
The other thing I still can't comprehend is why in the world can't the Contacts tab in DialerTabActivity.apk be consistent with the color schemes and BG (the Contacts button itself) of the Dialer, Call Log and Voicemail. No one uses that voice mail tab anyway, can someone please make it work like 2.3.3 but look like 2.2? Same colored bar and everything?
Can anyone answer these questions?

all my efforts are failing but I'll keep at it.
for some reason, when I make the changes then change the extension from .zip back to .apk the app fails to install.
is there a solution for this? why does the installation fail when I change it back to .apk is there some other way I should put it back to .apk?
7zip
I would suggest trying 7zip as an alternate program for handling zip files. It can open/extract apk files without the of renaming it. Simply right click the file, &-zip-> open archive. Then you can drag and drop / replace image files. This prevent having to change the file extension to zip and back to apk.

I backed up then uninstalled by Titanium Backup, and used the installer without a hitch.
Running UnNamed 1.3.2 though, not sure if the newer versions may be the reason why its not working properly.
Cool. Must be the fingerprint with the new UnNamed.

If I say yes now its just a placebo effect in my head.
Have to do some testing with it for a few days and see if its noticeably different or the same.
Saw this in the UnNamed thread, might want to give it a try.

Tried installing the beta, tells me it's unavailable for devices that have swype preinstalled...
Any thoughts on how to get around that?
Edit: Nevermind. Uninstalled it via titanium, mounted the system partition, removed /system/lib/libSwype(version number).so and then all was well.

I guess that seems to be the way to do it. I'll give it a try over the weekend when I get a chance to mess around with my phone
EDIT
so, installed perfectly using instructions from post #5. I don't really know what's the difference between uninstalling via Titanium vs. adb removing, but it worked with the Titanium method, and not with adb.
Thanks for the tip on using titanium to backup/uninstall, works for rooted stock as well

I've been using it for about two days now and with the exception of an beta-ish incident I had with it (it stopped working after my first reboot if the phone and I had to reinstall it), I can confidently say that this update makes Swype much, much better. Swype always used to piss me off within the day for the simplest of reasons, but with all the new gestures, dictionary options and (finally) contextual typing, it's hard to put this one down. And it should be mentioned that I'm a huge keyboard junkie, if that exists. I have pro versions for most of the keyboards on the market and constantly switch between them because they generally all disappoint me in one way or another.
The voice recognition is naturally better now that the company has been acquired by Nuance, but it isn't quite up to the accuracy of choice dictation on the iPhone 4s, for whatever reason. Is it better than what it used to be on Swype/Android? Hell yes. In addition, this can do languages other than English, something I found particularly amazing.
All in all, I like it.

The speech recognition still sucks.

I have no idea, but I know it auto updates (maybe not if you remove the installer) so not sure if it will break the theme or not when it does update.
Really missing how it looked on UnNamed.
Going to change the thread title and put a request for a theme.
If someone can provide the apk i can try and take a swing at theming it. Shouldn't be too difficult

I added it to the OP.

Actually just had a look at the new apk... it's completely different so I don't think it'd be possible to just transfer it over from the old one.
I can try and do it manually... we'll see how it turns out.
Good luck, after the holidays i'm going to read up on theming.
I tried doing it myself to change the stock SMS but couldn't get it working ended up using goSMS lol.

I just did a proof of concept, just to see if it works... It's really simple actually!!!!
I did orange and blue (Denver Broncos colors) if you guys want it, just install it like normal.
Here is how to do it:
You take that .apk file thats in the OP, make a few copies of it just incase...
Then you get 7zip, open it up with 7zip... copy all the files in "assets/keyboard" to a new folder on your computer.
The files you need to edit are preceded by "display0_" since we have wvga screens.
The way I did it was open it up in photoshop (the images, that is) and edit the file and save it.
The files I editted were:
background
caps
capsbutton
funcbutton
numbutton
selbutton
textbutton
AFTER EDITTING!!
This is where it gets tricky...
You open that original .apk with the 7zip proggy and you transfer all those images back into it, in the proper folder.
Now you need to sign it using apkmanager or whatever you may want. Open it up in apkmanager, and sign it (using the batch signing folder thing option choice thing).
DONE!
Oops guess my message by xda app didn't go through.
The theme did work perfectly, good job!
Would It be too much to ask for a dark-themed swype like on ICScrewD or unNamed?
Then I can finally update swype

I second this!!
But I am going to try myself with the instructions of samvillian.
Just haven't had time, hopefully this weekend I can start practicing on theming.

I've got most of swype done. Issues im running into is apktool is unable to decompile or recompile a working product. Assume because of the updated version. Ill keep pressing.
