Titan Scene left town?

what has happened to the titan scene on xda, no one developing anymore? everyone move too ppcgeeks or something? whats the story with this ghost town forum?
What's left? This thing works perfect!
Yeah does seem strangely quiet lately I guess its due the imminent release of the Pro in the states for all the Sprint and ATT people
Everyone got tired of carrying around bricks and got Touch Diamonds.

I kinda have to agree here... DCD 3.2.6 has just been stable and good to me... I am going to give nueRom3 a shot eventually, but I think the excitement of the Titan is gone and people are now focusing on the Diamond and Touch Pro

I agree, it has been a ghost town after GC hooked us up with solid GPS. Not a whole lot more hardware wise we can do. We need to focus on creating bad ass custom ROMS. Check my first publicly released rom at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436997&page=2 Post #15.
Peace!
not sure about the rest of you, but I am completely satisfied with dcd3.2.6 and intend to keep running it until the Touch HD is released in the US.
I really wish development would have continued, I never got SMS working on 3.2.6, so I'm stuck with 3.2.5 and the annoying callwating... noise.
Yea and sucks b/c verizon wont get a diamond or anything like it for a very long time so Im stuck with what we got here

sorry to say, but i saw this article a week or so ago...Touch HD isnt coming to the US

it does say that HTC has some other great stuff planned, but who knows how long itll be till anyone gets it...and then add some time till verizon finally does.
I agree with you, things seem slow around here. I read this forum every night, seems as though DCD was always trying to find a better way to do something and a lot of other great solutions were born out his enthusiasm. Hope to see him back soon!

According to an article on on Engagdet Mobile training for the Touch Diamond had to be completed by December. So maybe Verizon will be getting it sooner then everyone expects. It is Verizon though so who knows.

Sprint is getting the Touch HD, just not in its current form. It will have WiMAX integrated when released in the US next year.

True hopefully it will be before the end of the year. Also Verizon will carry the Omnia soon as well. It's name showed up on the Rebate forms at work

I've been following this one... I'm due for an upgrade. As much as I love my Titan, I am always up for the latest and greatest - and the Omnia does look pretty nice. I do seem to remember a similar topic last year with the XV6800... didn't it show up on some rebate forms months before it was released? Knowing Verizon, I'm not getting my hopes up yet...

Very true. Came out like 3 months after it first started showing up on the rebate forms.

Honeycomb and ICS source code coming after Galaxy Nexus goes on sale, but when?

Google said themselves that the source code for ICS and HC wont come until after the Galaxy Nexus goes on sale, but truthfully, I have a feeling the source code won't be released until 2012 what do you think?
I don't think HC was part of that announcement.
I won't be surprised if Google again delays ICS source code release.
well, going off the official wording of the announcement that it will be opensourced, i'm pretty confident we'll get it in 2011.
my guess is no later than 2 weeks after the gnex comes out.
Google said 'soon after..'. Soon is an elastic term that Google often uses. It means anything from now, to many months from now.
It's rumored to be released on November 17, 2011. See here: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Goog...dwich-Source-Code-on-November-17-234231.shtml.
Don't they normally start putting up the code the day the device goes on sale?

Hello, i was trying to purchase a nexus 4,but it's been imposible, well i see the lg optimus g,and more specifically the E970 of lg (the phone of it subform xD) and i see that has almost the same hardware, but the development forum looks to be dead so my question is:

This device has awesome specs and is the bastard brother of the Nexus 4. Its not going anywhere soon. I wouldnt count on waiting for LG. You are much better off waiting for the Devs and going with a ROM.
I've read, from multiple sources, that the Optimus G will be getting JB shortly. Most likely Q1 next year, with the Korean version getting it in December. It's coming, oh yes...it's coming.
Here is an article in Yahoo news that states that LG has the OG with a December timeline. Now, taking into consideration that sometimes "stuff" happens, lets be realistic in saying January 2013. If it happens in December though... that would be my Christmas gift.
Disclaimer: I have only had my OG for a couple days and have not read extensively. If there is anything else published after this article refuting the timeline, my apologies.

I believe so. Bottom line for me is that it is worth the wait IMO.
Don't buy a device based on upgrade promise from manufactures or carriers. But it based on developer support. I have Note 2 and will be turning for optimus g since this one is now unlocked and we can never worry about waiting for updates from useless carriers.

Official Google event tomorrow evening in NY

A number of blogs/tech sites are saying invitations have been sent out for a "Google Play" event in New York tomorrow (24th October) at 19.00hrs local time (0:00hrs 25th October BST (UK time)). That part seems to be definite.
Tech Radar say that they were told by Google it was just a meet & greet event, so no launches. But what some others are saying is that Kitkat 4.4, Nexus 5 & Nexus 10 2 might be launched at this event. Kitkat I think is an outside possibility, Nexus 5 & Nexus 10 2 not so much.
So far we have only rumours/speculation as to when these products (& OS) might be launched. I'm not stating this as gospel. But I thought it worth posting just in case even if it is only for Kitkat. And people would at least be forewarned in case they live stream it.

PS Not that I am desperate for them to release the Nexus 10 2 or anything.

Sorry but these websites (IBTimes, Christian Post, etc) it's referring to are little better than a webcrawler putting together information that looks kind of like an article. They frequently just make up random crap to get clicks for their site and vicariously, ads. I would wait for a site such as android central or droid life to make some kind of announcement. As of right now, all official information is that the event will feature no news at all, and is just a small get together.

Oh there's nothing wrong with that. I'm doing the same thing. I wish they'd turn around and say "psych! Everything will will be there! But I don't see them doing that.
Now that Apple has released the iPad Air, it puts them on the defensive end though. The more time that passes, the more likely people will overlook the Nexus 10. I'm not entirely sure Google cares though. They've already infiltrated the Apple ecosystem with most of their apps. Google's strategy is certainly one of slow, constant persistence. These tablets and phones are a kickback to people who support them I think, not a direct competitor with any other brands tablets. That's how it seems to me anyways.
Hopefully they don't keep us waiting too long. I sold the N10 in anticipation for this, and I've been waiting patiently for a while now. Come on Google.... don't wander into the world of Valve time....
We;; is 8:38 and no news about the event. It hasn't been streamed on youtube like other times and thers no updated blog about it either. Also theres been lots of errors with google services today? Coincidence? or could they have had some issues? Hopefully we'll know what went on in the conference by tomorrow but it most likely wan't any of the devices since it wasn't public.
Very suspicious that we've heard nothing I think.
I wonder if they did something huge and its all under embargo until a certain time?
Its quite odd to not hear anything from any of the major tech sites.

[Q] Has Canonical Waited Too Long?

*Note: This is a multiple choice poll*
Did anyone expect the development cycle to take so long for a public release?
Where is the dedicated hardware?
Have they changed too much from the original UX promised?
Since Ubuntu Touch was announced many things have changed and many, many months have gone by. How many version updates for Android and iOS? Firefox OS made it to market, Jolla's Sailfish made it to market, Samsung dithering around with Tizen is the only thing taking longer than Ubuntu Touch. Heck, OpenMobile finally delivered an Android Compatibility Layer for HP Touchpad running webOS for crying out loud. And Nokia released an Android phone; so Hell has already Frozen Over!!!!!
What gives?
How do you people feel about the loooooong wait for maturity of this OS?
I first tried and got excited about when I had a nexus 4. Which I sold as soon as the nexus 5 came out. I pledge for a couple Ubuntu edges. Remember that?! It seemed like they were on track to release something in a decent timeframe.
I would still put money down to try out a phone released with Ubuntu touch if it has great hardware.

Read it when it came out. Read all the tech press, blog post, forum thread, official wiki stuff. Scoured the web. Flashed and flashed and flashed and flashed and flashed and finally was able to update and update and update and update and update...
The point is - Doesn't matter how many people say 's'wonderful, 's'marvelous IF IT NEVER MAKES IT TO MARKET in almost 18 months. People walk away. There is patience and refining. Then again there is just fiddling along and wasting people's time.

It sounds like you've already made up your mind. I just leave it installed on my Nexus 4 and start it up every couple of days to check for updates and review the progress.
I'm sure some phone manufacturer will put their toe in the water sometime soon, and as long as Canonical continues to support the Nexus models that's a pretty good base for potential users. End users will choose Ubuntu Touch because it came with their device or they like the capabilities and won't be concerned about its history.
ramjet73
Um... ramjet? Looks like you didn't vote?
All respondents voted yes, in some way, that it took too long... Maybe you should put in the first "no" vote?

no...but
Since none of the multiple choice answers accurately reflect my opinion, I'll give my own. No, canonical didn't wait to long, but they should focus on developing a kernel that supports hardware for a wider variety of mobile devices, a unified bootloader for smart phones and tablets, and usb installation.
