[Q] Is anyone working on soft unlock streak? - Streak 5 Android Development

Is anyone working on soft unlock streak? It has been released for quit a while. But it can't be unlocked yet (soft). Does that mean DELL dose better than Apple on lock their phone?
The UK official unlock version can be used with any carriers. How about the US version? Can we use it with non-AT&T sim card?

the US version is locked to AT&T, there is no unlock (of any sort) with the exception of using a rebelSim... they aren't better than apple, there just aren't as many users trying to unlock it. (I would bet money that apple has about 1000x more iPhone users... they are currently around 59 Million sold)

Can you Sim-unlock HD2 via radio/rom flash like on HD1?

Hi people, Ive searched on this but can only find people talking about unlock codes and wondered if it was possible yet to unlock HD2 for free like you can on the HD1?
Ive just purchased a T-Mobile HD2 on ebay that is 2 months old and was wondering if we cant unlcok via free method is it possible to unlock my phone via code as ive noticed various people having problem with T-Mobile 2010 models.
Thnx in advance.
Free sim unlock is not available on HD2 yet.
Free unlock is normally only possible on old or obsolete phones.
For now, your best bet is take your phone to a shop that does unlocking.
I would not trust most online unlock firms for newish model of phone.

Unlock threads talking about codes, are mostly to change from manufacturers ROM.
Thnx for reply but think I will be trying with a company on ebay who do unlocking I explained it was only 2 months old and they said it wont be a problem.
If it is I will try the "Rebel" Sim card which supposedly unlocks ALL htc devices without codes etc. You simply slot it in underneath your sim and it allows you to use it.

A, total bs, you really did not think of the fact that a phone from the states would not work in canada? Bull**** you just want someone to get the unlock code for you because you bought the phone not knowing it would not work and are screwed now.
Yes i know stupid mistaek
I bought the american version because the canadian version could not work on my carrier Mobilicity. Most mobilicity phones come unlocked and i thought that because they used the same frequencies that T mobile would too. Yes i know stupid mistake should have done it in america. And it's not stolen

Seriously you two should NOT give answers if you do not know wtf you are talking about. ALL t-mobile Vibrants are sim locked ie you cannot use it in any other country (ie with other carriers, even tmobile outside the US) but the united states and even here you cannot use it with any other carrier except t-mobile. I am about to call tmobile and have mine unlocked too so I can use it in Canada and Europe.
I usually buy t-mobile sim cards in Europe but I need my phone unlocked to be able to do that. But I will admit, since the Vibrant is pretty much the same as all the other Galaxy S phones, I also thought it could be used everywhere Tmobile was available (sans the simlock).
To the OP, go to Ebay if tmobile cannot help you, there are many companies that will unlock your phone for you for a fee. Or you can use the unlock generator from this site (but there have been mixed results with that). But even with the phone unlocked, does not mean it will get all the ranges oversees as it does here. Tmobile uses different Hz oversees than they do in the states so you may not get 3G (not sure, just using my experiences from other phones), so you may wanna check on that before going through all the effort of unlocking etc etc. You may be better off with a i9000 in Canada if thats your primary residence.

Thanks for the help o will look into both those methods you stated
go to Market, and look for SGS Unlock, if the free version can not generate the unlock code, go for the Pro version.. or you could do it yourself for free by following instructions here:

[Q] Can Samsung Galaxy SII be unlocked

Well,
Sort of a noob question, but since I dont know how easy or hard could it be.
If I buy a SGS-II with a service plan in UK (Orange, Voda etc), then can it be unlocked to be used in other countries or other operators.
I know maybe it has got something to do with the gaining the root access to the handset or even a root access achieve the desired.
Thanks for suggestions.

It's got nothing to do with root and everything to do with the carrier, some will deliver locked phones, some unlocked.. most usually contract phones are unlocked and PAYG phones are locked
I'm on O2 contract and the phones I've had have always been unlocked, but I've heard Orange do network lock their phone
Orange do always lock their phones but if you get it from an independent seller like the Carphone Warehouse or Phones4u the chances are it'll be unlocked.
Most networks will unlock your phone for a small fee (I think I paid £25 on Orange) but it's only a matter of time before sellers on eBay popup that will sell you an unlock code based on your IMEI.
You're right that you could unlock handsets with root access but that involved flashing another radio. Since no locked SGS2's have been released yet you're safe buying now and the phone hasn't been rooted so you may be waiting a while for that option if you get a locked handset in the future.
You could always use a Rebel SimCard. Its not the perfect solution but it works.
So we just have to wait basically. O2 are offering it for 399£ apparently on payg. It would be awesome to get it for that price and then unlock it.

Last year, o2 were selling the SGS1 on PAYG. I think the handsets were supposed to be locked but they weren't. If you're in luck then maybe same is true for SGS2. I've pulled the trigger on the SGS2 with contract from o2 as total cost works out cheaper that any PAYG or sim free offer currently available.

Does orange still exist over there?
Three took over Orange over here in Australia years ago
On three if you call them up they give you the unlock code for free
I asked a popular online unlocking firm what the likelihood of the SGS2 being unlocked was and this was his reply:
Hi Aaron,
This should be no problem at all. That's because there's one main database for all European Samsung Android handsets. We have unlocked the Samsung Galaxy S from all 6 main UK networks.

Are you going to use them to unlock? When can they do it? & who are they?

I will ask them to unlock if my SGS2 arrives locked. I found them doing a quick google search. I am not sure I am allowed to post links so mods please remove if that is the case. http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/
There are many more if you do a google search.

[Q] SIM-unlock of Orange.fr Atrix

Hello everyone.
I bought recenlty a used Atrix, in Russia. It was locked, so I tried to find a SIM-unlock. I was thinking that it's a AT&T Atrix, but after asking Motorola Global support, they said me that it was manufactured for Orange France.
I bought the unlock code from two different sources at eBay, they both gave me same codes, but they are not working!
For the moment, I'm trying to contact Orange France for the support, but I'm not sure that they could give that code..
Or maybe it's because my Atrix is running on CM9 that the code isn't accepted?

No its not because of cm9. And sometimes orange doesn't unlock off contract phones. The code is the same as its based on your imei number. If the code doesn't work you should contact the support from where you bought the code.

I bought the phone as used, from a particular seller. He bought the code for me, but it didn't worked.
Is there any chance to get the code from Orange support?
Could the code work if I downgrade to 2.3 firmware?

You could try asking orange support. If not try some site where you have to buy the code…i used unlocking.com to unlock moto cliq. They gave me the code the same day and it didn't work the first time. I contacted support and they helped me unlock it. So make sure the site you buy it from has good support.
Carrier unlock is different and won't change no matter what rom your on.
Did you try this possible solution?

Thanks for the link. Gonna try it
Actually, I spended 5$ more and bought another code. I got the same code, tried to enter it under 5 various SIM-cards - 1 of Beeline, without money on it, 1 of Beeline with unlimited credit, 2 various MTS and even a AT&T sim-card, I had the same problem
Could anyone tell me what radio I should use under CM9?
Or maybe giving a link to official Orange France firmware?
Tried already three radios, with noany it unlocks. Any suggestions on which can it be sucessful?
you can try the bell Canada Radio.
My phone will not SIM unlock using any radio file but when I flashed the Bell Canada Radios it just works. Doesn't even prompt for Sim Unlock.
I just wish I could get my AT&T radio's to flash since I am here in the USA.

I believe there is a short code that will bring up the unlock screen.

Will ZU C6806 from Bell Mobility (Canada) work in the U.S.?

Looking to get a ZU, preferably the 6806 since I'm with AT&T, and I found one for sale from Canada, probably on their Bell Mobility network...
Does anyone know if this would this work here in the US?
Also, on a side note, anyone familiar with any issues purchasing from Canada via ebay... customs, duties, taxes, etc.?
Thanks in advance.

The Bell phone will (might be unlocked) have a sim lock, and worse they are all bootloader locked so no easy root and no custom ROMs

I hate being such a newbie...
- What does having a sim lock mean?
- I thought the Z ultra 6806's were sold as unlocked phones... has a different meaning?
- I'm not interested in customizing the the ROM, or rooting, or anything similar, (at least not yet) so this is not an issue for me.
Help?
having a sim lock means the phone will only work with the provider that sells the phone, in canada only bell is the exclusive dealer for the XZU, if you want to use this phone on any other network you will need to buy an unlock code. they go for about $30 and takes a day, you provide them with your IMEI and they will email you the code when its processed.
im in canada but since the phone is from bell and im on rogers i had to get the sim unlocked for it to work on my network.
if the phone for sale is a bell phone then no it isnt unlocked, the only other local place to buy it is from the sony store and those come sim unlocked, the only huge difference from the bell phone and sony store is that the bootloader is locked for bell, if you read the previous post that means its harder to root and we can not use custom roms ( personally for me its not a huge downfall since i like the oem roms more atm)
from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks at&t uses band 4 for lte so does bell and rogers ( i receive lte) so it should be fine.
the only thing you have to worry about to use the phone is spend an extra $30 for sim unlock.
if anything in my post is wrong feel free to correct everyone as im just trying to be helpful =)
