[Q] Clockwork Mod Recovery won't do nandroid backup - Streak 5 Android Development

I posted in another thread but don't seem to be getting sant responses. Hopefully a dedicated thread will get some attention:
Trying to do a nandroid backup on an o2 streak running 2.1 androot rooted seems to hang when it gets to backing up the data image. I think I've if isolated the problem to the lost + found directory within data.
Is anyone else having the same problem? And more importantly how do I get the nandroid backup to work?
I have tried clearing the lost + found directory but it doesn't work even using root.
The version of clockwork mod I'm using is 2.5.0.1 for the streak. It's the version posted on modaco by paul which seen to be a different size from the one on koush's recovery site.
I have tried both methods of nandroid backup: from the recovery menu and from an adb shell while in recovery.
When I do it from shell it seems to get stuck on the lost + found directory but from recovery menu it just hangs at backing up data until I'm forced to take out the battery

How did you solve it. I have the same problem.
You probably need froyo performance fix, I was having same problem but it got resolved once I applied the fix

I cleared the cache/log on my internal sd card using root explorer. If you would finish the back up there is an indicator saying no more space or something on cache/log

Thanks. I will give it a try.

Update:
Manage to install clockwork recovery after several tries, I don't know why. I have done it before with success from first try.
Cleared cache and seemed to work but at the end I had an error "cannot mount /datadata/ etc... Cannot find E:\misc.
???

I recommend that you try Streakmod Recovery, it's been modified to work with the Streak better. XDA Thread here.
Now I can not make a back up of my 322/341 2.2.2 breeed, sticking at backing up firstboot again even if I cleared the cached again, anyone does have any idea on how to fix this problem? I am using StreakMod recovery since I got my Streak.
Hi all, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents, I was stuck on the nandroid backup "backing up firstboot" part. I cleared out more space on my SD card incase it was that & it worked! I don't think I did anything else in between so this must have been my solution!
Goodluck to anyone who's stuck!
froyo performance fix works can do back up after back up
Performance fix only works on certain roms, 305, 309, 318 but it dies not work on others ki kev 340, 341, 345

[Q] Streakdroid 1.9.0 from stock 2.2 froyo?

I know there are guides out there to go to earlier versions of Streakdroid, but I can't tell if I can go straight there from my stock build.
Android Version 2.2.1
BUILD NUMBER 14896
ROGERS NETWORK
A modified idiots guide would be great,or something like it,to those of us just coming online...or some kind soul who remembers what it is like could hold my hand to get me pointed in the right direction?>There is a boatload of info that seems like it is constantly changing.
Thanks
Yes you can go stalraight to 1.9.0, just Put the 1.9.0 update.zip and install.txt in the root of your sd card, flash streakmod recovery, reboot into recovery, install 1.9.0, and you are done, just follow the guide, you won't get lost.

Yep. I did it on mine.
In addition to what eowyn0821 mentioned, I fastboot-ed the baseband and 720p fix as well. Just in case. Remember to wipe using the default factory reset not the recovery.
i cannot flash streak recovery,it just says waiting on device but never does anything
and i cant boot phone up.....stays at boot logo
i took out sd card and installed different roms,1.6 to 1.9.0 but stock recovery cant see .zip only update.pkg so i renamed....but after it sees the update and tries to install.....i get the,
E:signature verification failed error
and i dont know where to download the att stock froyo
i believe im on gausbxxx34041,how can i get it to reboot only having the stock recovery?
ive tried the factory reset option, still hangs at boot up
pleas help me before i wear out the tabs on my back cover

The reason you are having error is because you renamed the zips to pkg which they are not, they are zip that is why when it was opened you get the error. Go to the wiki page section of xda for dell streak you can find all the roms, recovery, basebands almost anything you need about streak.

So step 1 for me should be to root my phone correct?
( hello I guess I might need to do a backup first?)
and then I'm clear to use streakmod recovery to reload the zip file.
do I also need to upgrade my baseband first, or is this an optional step?

Yes it is an optional step, it depends on you on what baseband you want to use, but if you are planning to go 1.9.0 i suggest you stick with 345 as i know it was based on 341 and 345 builds.

Just my two cents' worth. Tried to upgrade from streakdroid 1.8 to 1.9 without factory reset. Worked fine. Tried again with a factory reset. Went into an endless loop - boot screen to unlock screen to boot screen..... and so on.
Flashed stock recovery, did a factory reset from stock recovery, flashed streakmod recovery, installed 1.5, then 1.8, then without a factory reset installed 1.9 - all worked fine.
Okay,so far I have installed superoneclick and it looks like all is well and I have installed clockwork recovery and all seems as it should be.
How do I get the install.txt and the update.zip package onto the root of the sd card?Is this the same as just dumping into the sd card from windows? Or do I have to do this in the phone?
Do i need to rename the zip to update.pkg?

If you are coming from any 2.2 you do not need to install superuser as all streakdroid such as 1.9.0 are all rooted, yes you just have to copy the 1.9.0 update.zip and install.txt from your comouter and paste them on your sdcard. You do not have to rename it to pkg as clockwork and streakmod only install update.zip and stock/dell recovery install update.pkg. All streakdroid roms are update.zip and should remain as such.

The recovery usually has some options to mount the sdcard. I have used it on streakmod recovery. You might wanna use that to get the right files on the sdcard to install the new rom.
This gallery will show you the menu options that allow you to mount the SD Card from streakmod recovery.
Thanks for your input, after a few false starts I am up and running-so what's the standard donation for a new improved ROM these days?
Right off the bat,i am very impressed by the display res.Even at what I assume is the stock 160dpi the screen looks amazing.Coming from the samsung galaxy, this was one of the larger dissapointments with my dell..up until now.
In the end it waz streakmod recovery v0.3.2.6 beta that worked the charm for me.Multi recovery and clockwork was no good but I was likely the bug .

Problem with Google
Hello all,
After update to 1.9.0 i have one very annoying problem - i simply cannot sync with Google.
Account is enabled, but inside settings->accounts&sync->my account list is empty.
Simply no options to sync.
After factory data reset (via privacy settings), all options appear (calendar, contacts, etc) but still cannot sync.
"Sync is not possible now, try again later".
Update options were "bios, stageui, noswype".
What can be wrong?
Ok, problem disappear just today.
I did nothing.
Next issue - keyboard settings are not available.
Language - English, United States.
When i try to push Android keyboard button in language & kb menu, i have error "process com.android.inputmethod.latin) has stopped unexpectedly.
What can be wrong?
mucho problemos w titanium backup
So my installation of 1.9 Streakdroid over stock 2.2 ran quite well except for some minor issues. One that was bugging me was the time stamp coming in wrong on texts which is a big pain.(I am now working around it by making time settings manual and setting myself to +-0 gmt)
So I thought I had better do the factory reset and clear the Davik cache and see what happens.I backed up using Titanium and proceeded as planned.
Factory reset and everything is okay but every time I go to restore my apps and system data the phone completely craps out.It seemed okay for a while but progressively got worse until I was forced to repeat the procedure many times. At this point every time I go to restore everything with TB the phone totally craps out FC'ing everything imaginable.
System reset restores to a working state but as soon as I restore ADW or TB it seems to crap everything out.
Anybody know how I can retrieve settings from a single app (my tracks) out of a titanium backup? Is there an extraction tool that would bypass everything else?

[Q] Direction for 347 00 restore

I am currently dead locked between gausb1a131500-us / gausb1a130900, Build 11548 & gausb1a131500-us / gausb1a131500 Build 15609.
My goal is to have the original stock 347 back. I seem to be getting close. I would stay with either of the above if the button lights would stop flashing. I am comfortable with fastboot, streakmod recovery, superuser procedures etc. I seem to be having the problem with combinations. If someone could advise the best course of action step by step I am sure that I will have the "so that's what I missed!!" epiphany.
5 days straight but I am going to get it......

Is it possible to use ROM manager from within Android to achieve this?
Looking into QDL Tool
Do you have a nandroid backup of 347 or the original pkg files of 347? If I'm reading correctly you have pieces of the 315/309 roms on your phone?

I have a Nandroid backup (supposed) of 347 that is not my own. I received my Streak last Wednesday and after a successful Root unistalled Dell stage (still kicking myself). Long story short, I have been trying to restore it to OEM without having made a back up of any kind. I have it running on 315/315 but the flashing buttons are troublesome. As Android modification is fairly new to me (I am well versed in iphone, xbox, PSP) it has been somewhat nerveracking trying to put everyones experiance into a viable fix.
Is it the one from this forum with the firstboot file missing?

No I do not believe so. Can you give me some pointers on my current situation?
Navigating the forums with the xda app isn't the easiest so all I can suggest is flashing the 351 or 354 recovery, followed by the respective update.pkg.
If you're sure the nandroid backup is complete, install streakmodrecovery or clockworkmod, whichever the back up was made with, then run restore.

[Q] Has anybody used ROM Manager on this phone?

I'm sorry but i couldnt find anything about it.
So, basically my question is: Is it actually compatible with the XT720 and, if so, what model should i pick when i try to install clockworkmod recovery?
(The XT720 option is absent.)
I'm currently using dexter's froyo and planning on trying out a few other ROMs so ROM manager would be quite nice to have.
Thanks in advance.
It can run this but its dangerous to use it advice stick to open recovery.
Sent from my XT720 using xda premium
OK, thanks.
Is it normal to be stuck on system dumping for more than an hour while making a backup? The media LED is blinking the whole time.
I'm doing it with open recovery, as adviced
Soo I tried again after an hour and a half of waiting and another half hour after that, the result - two 3.5MB files... I gave up and decided to go ahead and install CronosX-RC1-br301-g but openrecovery just sais there's nothing in the cronosx folder, i try to restore all, and basically nothing happens. After rebooting dexter's froyo is intact so i'm going to bed and hoping somebody will help
What Open recovery are you using.
Sent from my XT720 using xda premium
1.46, if i understand right. it's system recovery in app drawer, which kinda puts me off
Install open recovery apk then open install open recovery system and boot in to recovery.

[Q] Help with unrooting Lg-E739

Can anyone help me find a site with stock roms for lg e739 or the lg mytouch 4g? I need it to flash my phone back to stock. Any help would be greatly appreciatied.
Tsk Tsk Tsk, on you for not backing up your stock.
You could always try the LG Mobile Support Tool
www[DOT]lg[DOT]com/us/support/mobile-devices/phone-support
I havent tried to use this method yet so I'm not 100% sure it puts you back to stock, as it came out of box.
Download and install LG mobile support tool, run LG Mobile Update. Click on Customer Support in the menu, then click recovery. Remember to have your e739 connected via usb.
I did make a backup. It just won't restore. Even tried removing the Android secure file from my backup and got a md5 sum mismatch. Downloaded someone else's backup and it shut my phone off before the restore was complete just like my backup before I removed the Android secure file. Now I'm stuck wit cm7.2. Should I flash cwm before I restore like I did when I installed cm7 the first time?
Sent from my LG-E739 using xda premium
You got the md5 error because you removed something from the nandroid...thus changing the ckecksum.
I would say try flashing that nandroid that you downloaded. Makin sure its named correctly. Without removing any files from it.
Also try to redownload that stock nandroid backup n try again. Btw which one was it?
Did you wipe cache system and data partitions before flashing nandroid?
Do not wipe sd card.thats where nandroid would be.
On my e739 during flashing nandroids Ive had it get stuck at lg logo once or twice. All I did then was use adb reboot-restore...then tried reboot from cwm again...if that didnt work then do adb again to get to recovery and flash nandroid again...dont give up. If you want stock keep trying.
You could flash ur cm again to get working on ur phone again but thats not what you want is it?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
If you cant boot into an android you can use adb to push files to ur sd card...If you dont want to do that then ull have to flash cm n use file manager of choice.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
I would offer my e739 stock backup...but i got it from a third party..and it has extra bloat and carrier iq on it. so im keeping it in a safe place.

Id trade you LOL... mine wont root

I don't know how to get adb to work. I downloaded the sdk and jdk but don't know how to set the path. I wiped data, cache, dalvik, and battery stats before I tried to restore. Still running cm7 but upgraded to the RC. It's quite smooth. Scared to try another restore since each time it stops I get a bootloop and have to hard reset to get back into recovery. And Odin doesn't support my lg. :-( any other suggestions?
Sent from my LG-E739 using xda premium
If you lived close enough I would willingly trade. No lol. Real talk! But have you tried unlock root? Our worked like a charm on my e739.
Sent from my LG-E739 using xda premium
To get adb working put phone in debugging mode
applications>development>tick debugging mode
Connect via usb..start>run>cmd type: cd c:\androidSDK\platform-tools
press enter
you can now type adb commands
type: adb devices hit enter that will show you connected devices
to get into recovery type: adb reboot recovery
device should now reboot into recovery
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
Well still not able to get adb for ask to work but on a brighter note, I finally got my phone to restore to stock. Wiped everything 3x's factory/data reset, cache, and dalvik. Then I formatted my system, hit restore, and voila! It went back. Back to cm7.2 RC since TMobile now wants to charge extra to tether. Even tried ICS or cm9 but think I'm gonna wait till there is a more stable version
Sent from my LG-E739 using xda premium
well have you tryed one of many of the apps on the market to unroot it, but i cant help you with the restoring your backup if you cant restore it from cwm without problems because i have a galaxy s gt i9000
I already know how to unroot was having a prob restoring tmobiles software but its all good now!
