Deleted apps, now emails don't send - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was deleting bloatware from my phone using Titanium and now my emails don't send. They stay on "sending.." forever. What apps on the phone directly control the information being sent to Google? I think it has to be the "Talk" app but I'm not sure why that would control gmail. I also deleted "E-Mail" which is the standard email client that I never use.
Any ideas?

Go to applications, manage applications, Filter All
Go to Google Mail - clear data / clear cache
Go to Google Storage - clear data / clear cache
Should fix you up

There is no cache, why exactly would I just delete all of my data? I don't think this will fix my problem.

No, it does not delete your data. This is a very common problem when using most of these lag fixes. If there is a cache, clear it, otherwise just clear the data and it should start working. I had to do it every other day until I removed the last "stable" lag fix.

all gmail is kept on the google cloud not your local phone... clearing the settings/data will do just that and give you a clean slate to start with. Your data on the cloud will not be touched.

first make sure GmailProvider.apk is in your system/app folder. Then check to make sure you didn't remove these two .apk when you removed Talk. gtalkservice.apk and TalkProvider.apk.
I had a simular problem when i removed Talk app along with gtalkservice and TalkProvider which caused my phone to not login to any google app.

Those apps are still intact. I actually just did a nandroid restore to before I removed any apps. The emails still aren't sending, I'll delete my data and see if that fixes it.

Wow that actually fixed it, thanks a lot! I wonder what other apps are crippled on my phone due to those lagfixes.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

Sorry for the extra post but is there a way to clear the entire cache on the phone? It seems the lagfixes crippled a lot of programs like gmail, market, and the web browser.

Think this has something to do with T-Mobiles data going out (possibly worldwide) last night? I also had an email not get sent this morning.
^ I am rooted and use one of the cache cleaning apps...

Can you recommend me one? Does it clear the cache of all programs?

I'm using CachMate.

I'm using CacheCleaner, seems to clear all cache very well.. and it is free of course.

Two days after installing the apk based lag fix I started having gmail and GPS issues. Most of the current lag fixes create a virtual ext3 partition which corrupts very easily causing these types of issues. I removed the lag fix and my system became more stable again. I am only speaking based on my own personal experience.

Gmail sync problems?

Am I the only one having problems with Gmail sync? Is there and app or update to fix that problem?

I had similar problems. Just clear the application cache from the applications> manage applications menu in settings. You will need to change the filter to see the gmail app first however. This can be done by hitting menu inside manage applications, that part took forever to find out for me the first time .

I couldnt enter to gmail web site, couldnt connect to gtalk, android market didnt work on 3G. I searched the web and found a solution that worked on me. Change the name and apn name of your mobile network APN settings. Dont touch other settings. Just name and apn name. Then restart your phone. Now you should be able to connect to gtalk etc...
I am having this same problem as rustyruss after flashing Bionix Fusion. I couldn't find any reference to it in their forum. I tried deleting the gmail app cache and storage cache (both), but it did not resolve the issue. Has anyone found anything to fix this yet? It's incredibly irritating.

Email backups? Help!!!

Xda team, does anyone know if there is an app or a way to back up my email acct settings so that when I change from one ROM to another or when i wipe, I can easily restore my email accts? I have 5 accts and I update to new Roms constantly doing a full wipe each time. Setting up my email is a pain everytime. Even if it is a paid app, this would be great and i would be willing to donate to a developer whom wants to tackle his.
Any ideas?

Have you tried TitaniumBackup? It may not work going from some roms to others if you're talking about the stock Email app because versions may be different between roms. If after restoring data using TiBu you have problems, you can probably fix that by uninstalling the stock Email app that's in the rom and restoring the app&data of your backup. If on the other hand, you are just talking about Google accounts, TiBu will save those as well.

How do I get my wifi back to normal?

Hi, I have a galaxy s2. I tried to send compressed videos via email. Problem is they were still too large and now gmail app isn't working properly.
I have done some searching and it looks like my wifi is still trying to send the vids. There are a lot as I tried different compression methods and then resending. I have since deleted the emails which were all 'sending' but still have the problem.
Is there a way for me to get things back to normal? I can't delete the account without deleting all my phones user data as well and I would really like to avoid doing this if possible. Thanks for the help.

Have you tried rebooting? Or killing Email from an advanced task manager?
Hi, thanks for replying. Yep tried, still hangs. :-(

Maybe try to clear the Gmail data/cache in settings / applications / manage. .. / all
This will wipe all data and you'll have to setup the app again though.
You could also log in on the web and try delete the E-mail in the outbox .

Hi, thanks for the help. Turns out what was needed was a clear out of my out box, there was a draft of the files I mentioned in there and about 5 hours of leaving gmail alone. Everything started syncing properly after that. :-D

Google Talk refuses to login

I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'm running the Rejuvenated ROM. Fresh install. Restored all apps from Titanium Backup (all backups were from previous Rejuvenated setup - same version and everything). Whenever I open up Talk, it shows all accounts signed out. And when I click on an account, it takes me to the buddy list, but only shows my email address and doesn't sign in. No errors. All other apps work that are tied to my gmail account - the market, email, etc.
I even tried doing a restore from Titanium to a clean install, while skipping everything that has to do with accounts. Still nothing.
Any ideas on how to get this working properly?

I apparently can't post in the development forum, but you mentioned that you were having issues with google talk and gmail. I have had the same issue when flashing roms and then using titanium backup to restore my stuff. What fixed it for me is deleting the google account off the phone and deleting the data out of the google services framework app. Let me know if that works for you.

Had this issue in the past. I stay away from backing up the google apps since during install they ask for permissions.
Agreed, never backup gapps because that will come with issues if its own.
Try going in to recovery and fixing permissions, see if that helps.

"Unfortunately, Email has stopped"

I installed Jelly Beans Build 5 ROM after having used Build 2,3 and 4......now I can't get the Email to stop crashing....its really is slowing everything on my phone down when it reboots, etc....is there a way I can remove the Stock Email app? re-install it? (its not the Gmail, its the app called Email for using stuff like Hotmail)....
I have wiped Dalvik Cache and Fixed Permissions
You flashed dirty right? Clean flashed here and all three of my email accounts are fine. You should do a clean install before reporting bugs.

As an added note I would also do the same thing to Exchange Services. I did it to JUST the Email and still had issues. Then I did both and haven't had issues since.
Do you have swiftkey? My email would crash like that if I let swiftkey learn my words from emails.

I did not.
If you choose AOSP email over TW and you had TW before, it'll crash until you wipe data. Same thing with TW over AOSP.
I have Note 3 Verizon JB5 and I clean flashed (broke stock XD)
Still have this issue and clearing data didn't do anything.
I don't have ASOP, I use TouchWiz.
I'm having the same issue on my GS4.
Clearing app data and cache on both email and exchange services does not change anything. Still crashes, and I cant remove the exchange service from the accounts list.
I'm on stock rooted 4.2.2.
EDIT - issue solved. I had a corrupted external SD card.
Formatted, error checked and problems all solved.

I had the issue in my Note 3. When I configured my Exchange email and I received an email I attend to open from the notification or icon always occurred an "Email has closed" and I had to open again the email from the icon.
Reading the post about disabled/removed Magazine App I remenbered that I disabled this app so I had to enable it... now the issue has gone and I can open without any problem the emails.
Thank you :good:
