One click root app - Fascinate Android Development

Well I work for VZW and we have a few fascinated and I put the one click root app on one of the fascinates and it looks like "its a go" I didn't do it cuz how do I tell my boss I broke a phone before we cab sell it

Where did you get one touch root? Is it in the market because i know it was but then google took it down right after i bought it

I found it in the market, I downloaded it on my incredible, used astro file manager to make a back up, then emailed the apk to myself, used my WiFi tether from my incredible and connected to fascinate to the WiFi and went to my email and downloaded the file, allowed unknown sources, installed the apk and that's it

I can confirm this does NOT work. The app doesn't even copy update.zip to my SD card. I was able to pull the zip file from unzipping the apk, however it fails signature when I do the recovery step.

give it a day or two at the max after tomorrow. I'm betting by the weekend this phone will be rooted and fully open for ROM's and whatever your heart desires.
I for one wouldn't trust a one click root that wasn't specifically made for the fascinate itself.

The app would need to be able to "handshake" with the device, so without specific parameters, no way this could work- unless of course designed for Galaxy S and any "custom" efforts VZW may have asked HTC to add.

He didn't use any fix, my friend.. The one click root doesn't work on the Fascinate.

That root method won't work on the Fascinate, as it needs signed update.zip files for recovery mode. Same as the Epic. Bit meh, really. The Epic root method seems to work though, sortof.
As far as the OCLF lag fix, it should work fine once you have rooted using other methods. I'm guessing the Fascinate is using RFS, so it probably would speed up your device.

[Q] Netflix App

hi all I was just curious if anyone knows if the new Netflix app is working on the Thunderbolt or not. I assume it would but the thunderbolt is not listed on the netflix web site as a supported phone for this app, even though 3 other HTC phones are listed and are older tech than the Thunderbolt. I tried to install it but they want me to start an account with them first and I'm not opening a Netflix account unless I know for sure this will work on My thunderbolt. I'd appreciate any information anyone has on this,.. thanks!!
there are hacked netflix APKs out there that work on the thunderbolt

1. what's the best way to Root the HTC Thunderbolt
2. how do I install a ROM, never done so before
3. can someone link me the cyanogen mod 7 forum where I can download the files for it
4. Can someone link me where to get the APK that works with Cyanogen mod7 for Netflix?
oh and 5th... thanks!

The Netflix app will not work with any ROMs based off the official Thunderbolt RUUs as of now.
I was so mad when my boyfriend's Incredible would stream Netflix, and my newer Thunderbolt WON'T. He doesn't even use his phone. He fixed it so he can use wireless tethering..and uses his ipod touch! That's what made me so pissed off about it. I actually want to be able to watch Netflix on mine! Maybe one day soon =(
yeah This fairly well annoys me as well.. I purposefully bought the highest end phone I could find with the latest technology and it can't run the netflix app while the older models can,.. sounds kinda backasswards to me... really bugs me
Would love to have this working. Til then I guess I'll just have to use it on my DX

Don't think so, so far its only working if your running CM7 I believe.
Has anyone on here used CM7? I loaded it one day and nothing really worked on it. I couldn't get on the internet or anything... sounds like to a waste to run CM7 just to use netflix
Netflix does work on cm7 and will be supported on the thunderbolt soon. The reason why it wasn't initially is because the phone is new and Netflix didn't have time to test it on our devices. Just give it some time and you all will be rewarded.

Today, The developer said it was removed from the market without explanation. He's trying to bring it back.
I have it but it never switch to forced roam on evo 3d cm7
WTH I'ma be pissed if I can't get that back. I purchased that **** in the market!
taken from the general forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19827963&postcount=65
I updated the website with a note and a link to the apk (for those who have already purchased the app):
https://sites.google.com/site/roamcontrol/
I appealed the decision, but based on what I've read online, I'm not really expecting a response from Google. I have a few ideas on how to republish the app in such a way that people will retain their licenses, whether the new app is published through the Android Market or the Amazon Appstore. I'll let you know when I have any updates...thanks!
Is there an alternate app for Roam Control? It appears the developer hasn't had any success placing it in the Market or Amazon.

If you're rooted, you can make the edits yourself (or download an already modified Phone.apk) and add the roam only option natively so you don't need an app to do it for you.

Did you already try to download the apk from the site listed by jdfrye? It's posted at the end of the first paragraph in red.

MrGreg has finally made a place for those of us that didnt get it before the market took it off.
I just purchased my first copy at the new website
http://www.roamctrl.com/
With paypal.
Installed it on a stock non-rooted EVO3d and works like a charm.
I decided I needed it when I was working at a place that has a call dropping signal and it wore my battery down to 15% by the end of the day. I Installed this and put in roam mode and battery was at like 68% after listening to podcasts all day and I had data (slow but i had it).
Not pushing this like drugs but HEY it works and Sprint dont want you to have it so IT'S GOOD!

Can tech support tell if I'm rooted over the phone?

I have a small echo-like noise now that I hear during phone calls on my phone. I think it is a hardware issue because I don't hear it on my bluetooth headset. I called Verizon 800 number the other night because I was wondering about the 4G outage and mentioned my audio problem while I was on the phone with her. She said if I call back from another phone, tech support would connect to my Thunderbolt and troubleshoot the audio problem, and if its unfixable they would send me another Thunderbolt.
I am wondering if I need to unroot before I do this....would tech support be able to tell if my phone was rooted and thus void the warranty and not be able to do anything for me? What should I do?
Bare minimum I'd install the stock rom on there, I don't believe they would dig far enough to see if fastboot is unlocked.
As for the title question Yes, they can tell if rooted.
I don't think they can tell Cuz I called yesterday Cuz my screen is messing up they called me back on another line and wanted me to do a factory reset but didn't know that I was already on GB

The only thing I can think of, and I'm no expert or anything so this is just a guess, is that they could look at the software version of the phone, and if it isn't the latest, or a previous release for this phone, then they could speculate that you are rooted, though I don't think that alone would hold up in court if it ever came to that.
When the support rep told the OP that they would "connect to my Thunderbolt and troubleshoot the audio problem", I think they were going by the standard "don't call tech support from the phone that's having the issue" practice.
Can they remotely connect to our phones ? I wasn't aware that they could.

Liquid AOSP 3.2.
I unrooted just to be safe and the tech rep never said anything and I got them to send me a new sim card and if that doesn't solve my problem (which I don't think it will), then they will send me a new thunderbolt.
When I rooted again after the phone call it wouldn't let me restore my rom and I got stuck in a boot loop. Luckily I had rom zip's on my sd card, so I installed one from scratch, reflashed cwm via rom mgr again, then it let me restore it.
Very weird, and I was terrified I jacked my phone up.

I just recently used to work for at&t customer care and if vzw is anything like them, the only way they can maybe tell is if you have an unlimited data plan plus unofficial tethering app. Or if you send it in for warranty/Asurion replacement. Otherwise i don't really see how they could see in any way if it was rooted

[Guide] Rezound WiFi Tethering Fix For Other Android Devices.

So lately there has been lots of issues with people and their Rezounds using WiFi tethering. As most of you already know the sure fire way to make WiFi work is by broadcasting using adhoc. Most devices don't see this type. So here is an easy work around (Android devices only. Other phones, tabs etc...)
*NOTICE. DO NOT DO THIS ON YOUR REZOUND. THIS IS ONLY TO BE DONE ON A WIRELESS DEVICE THAT DOESNT SEE YOUR REZOUNDS WIRELESS TETHERING BROADCAST. SUCH AS A TABLET OR OTHER ANDROID DEVICE*
Download the zip from the link, Turn off wifi on the android device you're doing this on, extract the wpa_supplicant file, replace the old with the new (In system/bin ) [Might want to make a backup of the original wpa_supplicant before you replace it] and set the permissions as follows with root explorer or any other root exp app...
After completing these steps, your device should now see the adhoc broadcast from your rezound. It should have a (*) before the SSID.
http://db.tt/xnwxsOKr

Hope this helps. It did for me! Now I don't have to keep switching back to my Tbolt when I want wireless on my tab! =)

You didn't do this on your phone did you? Its ment for a device that you wish to give your phones wifi tethering to. IE: a tablet or other android device. You don't mess with your phone at all. Read carefully. You simply replace the wpa_supplicant file in the system/bin folder of the tablet or other android device that's not "seeing" your wifi tether broadcast from your phone. If you made a back up before you replaced this, restore it. If you need, I will help you. PM me and I'll get back asap. At work right now til 10pm (eastern) but will do what I can while here at work.

You do not put this file on your phone... you put this file on the Android device which you are trying to enable to connect to your phone via ad-hoc.
Also, it should be noted that there are many different unique configurations out there, and you should look for a wpa_supplicant file specific to your device before trying one designed for another device. Different wireless chips in different phones/tablets across different versions of Android might not be cross compatible.

This thread really doesnt belong in development although I appreciate the OP's willingness to bring knowledge to the community. This is a device specific issue with "other" android devices therefore adds no value to Rezound development.
Also, each device may have a differnt supplicant file but that I cannot confirm 100%. I would recomend to all that you search the device specific forum for this fix.

First they remove the headphones seen with other versions of the same device.
No blocking mode? Why I really wanted that. I thought this was a jelly bean feature and not a phone feature?
Stupid Wifi constant notifier? WTF for?
Fewer apps on tasker...serious? again why?
I realize alot of this will probably be rectified with Root but it shouldn't be necessary.

There won't be a flashable zip because you have to change versions to get it working. The best you will get is an executable script that pushes the files and then you have to do stuff yourself and then it will push more files. Viperboy (I believe is his name) has one on Sprint N2 forum.

There won't be a flashable zip because you have to change versions to get it working. The best you will get is an executable script that pushes the files and then you have to do stuff yourself and then it will push more files. Viperboy (I believe is his name) has one on Sprint N2 forum.

That makes sense, I did not know that. I will check out the script on the N2 forums and see if that is something I could use.
