App for Gmail to 'Mark as Read' from the notification bar? - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Does something like this exist? I find myself many times clicking on an email which I really don't need to read just to mark it as read because this way it'll still tell me the email's subject in the notification bar if I keep it to only 1 unread email. When there's two or more it'll just say [email protected] (#).. Anyone understand what I'm saying?
EDIT: I ended up disabling gmail notifications altogether and just downloading the "gmail unread count" widget to simplify things. Thanks.

Take a look at Gmail Popup.
It gives you a popup similar to SMS Popup and you can mark it, delete it, favorite it, etc right from the popup window.
I love it since we don't have an LED.

[Q] Message Content in notification bar

Before any one chews my head off, I have searched the site and Google and a can’t find an answer
I am trying to see if there is way to stop my IM messages (Whatsapp, skype, google talk) from displaying the message content in the notification bar.
When I receive sensitive information I don’t want any part of the message to be displayed in the notification bar. I only want to notified that I have a new message
I have tried turning off the notifications on the notification bar but then I never know when I have a new message.
Handcent does this brilliantly with text message but I can’t seem to find a way to turn it off for Instant messages
Can anyone help?
Guess there isn't an app for everything
If there isn't a setting in the individual app then I am not sure its possible...at least in a simple way.
Contact the app developers.....for SMS I know handcent has the option to turn off the text in the notification bar.
Yes, there aren't any settings in the individual apps. Damn, So no solution then
anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply.

Texting Issues (Messages, Handcent, GOSMS)

I have used the stock SMS program, Handcent, and GOSMS. All three are great, however this is my issue. Whenever I receive a message, via Handcent or GOSMS, I get the notification (in the status bar as well as a pop up notification). However at random times, the message I received does not appear in the message thread, when ever I get into my inbox. I will try to describe it as clear as possible. For example, I receive a text from Bob, I get the notification w/ a popup window. The message says "whats up?!" and I quick reply. But when i go into the inbox to view my thread with Bob, his most recent message to me does not show up, but my reply to him does. I have tried turning off the pop up notifications, same thing happens. I get the status bar notification, but when i open my inbox, no message appears. IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. I hope someone has experienced this. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Unread email notification

Anyone having problems with the unread email notification on the lockscreen?
Mine often reads wrong. When i unlock the device it may say that i have say 3 unread and thats what show on the email icon however the notification on the lockscreen will read a different number.
any ideas?
I had that problem 2
I solved it by going to my account and mark all unread to read.
Mail in garbage was my issue.

do you mean there was an unread email in your 'trash' folder on the phone that caused the problem?
Also, do you know of anyway to 'select all' when trying to delete mail? i am trying to get rid of all the mail in my trash folder but dosent seem to be any simple way to do it without ticking every email.
hmm still says i have 1 unread email on the lockscreen even though i have gone into each account and ticked them all unread and then read again. I come out of the application, lock the screen press power to wake and it shows 1 unread email again!
Maybe power off and then restart?
Hrmm, mine doesn't show mail notifications on the lockscreen even though I've enabled them, turned them off and on again, rebooted :/

Widgetlocker + Missed it! + GoSMS

I have my lockscreen set up with missed it for any notifications for missed calls, sms etc. The issue is with GoSMS pop ups, I want to keep them enabled so that i can quick reply when in other apps. However, I do not want pop ups to appear on my widgetlocker lock screen.
I ticked Hide sms pop ups to rectify this but this not only seems to block the pop up but also blocks the notification such that missed it doesn't recognise any unread messages.
If i disable pop ups in GoSMS, missed it! displays unread message count in the lockscreen. Is there any way around this issue?

[Q] Separate notification sound for text message?

I hate that every notification except email has the same sound. How can I change so that text messages have their own notification? Right now text messages and all other random notifications share the same ringtone so I never know if I got a text message or something else.

It doesn't work. If you change it, it changes it for all notifications. Not just texts.
I just figured it out.

I had been looking for this setting for days now and I just stumbled upon it. When you are editing a contact go to the bottom of the contacts information and hit the "ADD ANOTHER FIELD" button. There you will see the ability to add the "Message Tone" field as well as specify a "Vibration Pattern" if wanted. Not sure why they didn't put the Message Tone option on the contact by default.

Mind blow.
Dude, just set any ringtone for notifications via phone settings - it'l be your sms ringtone AND for any other applications having opportunity to create notifications you should open those applications, go their settings and find there option notifications and change notifications sound directly for that application. Logic!
Binrob, I get what you are after because I did a google search for the very same thing. No one here seems to get it.
What happens is all these other apps utilize the same NOTIFICATION sound as your text messages (like Facebook, or playing back-and-forth board games). Binrob and the rest of us want our TEXT messages TO BE DIFFERENT sounding than all the others. I don't want to look at my phone every time i get a notification, but i do want to look at my phone every time someone texts me. There doesn't seem to be a way to customize SMS/TEXT to its own notification sound. Android needs to fix this.
You've answered everyone's question! This should show up #1 on Google search!

Has there been updates since to change to separate notification for all contacts?
I get this issue and NEED them to fix as well! I don't want fb messenger and text messaging and any other notification to have the same sound. I want to know what app the notification is for WITHOUT unlocking and looking at my phone. Also, on my s5 I was able to change my led color for specific apps. If it blinking red I knew it was a text. Blinking green fb message. Blinking blue fb notification. Etc! Please add those back!
You CAN set the sound for messages, go to settings, notifications, advanced ......... choose messages, more settings (at the bottom of the screen), and the next screen is where you change the sound that is made. Not exactly user friendly though!
I think the answer is as simple.as: go to your message app, top right hit: more, Then go to settings and set whatever ringtone you want to have under notifications. I guess this should be what you are looking for.
Cheers

notificaton tone in message+
The comment that you can set message tones In contacts is correct except that apps like message+ , at least on the Galaxy , ignore that and use their own tones
I just found it....
open messages on the right top corner click there and pick customize ando under tones and there u can pick whatever ringtone for only SMS....
FOR SAMSUNG S9/S9+. To have a specific sound for you messages, go to messaging app/setting/notifications/general notications must be off/emergency alerts must be off. Go to new messages and choose your preferred sounds.
