recovery? - Fascinate Android Development

you think if i have rom manager and try to flash clockwork it will work? if not is there a way for recovery yet?

no, and no. We're about 3 days since it was released, be patient.

Speaking of recovery, anyone know how to reboot into recovery using the buttons on the phone?

How are you trying to get into CWR?
open Rom Mgr, flash CWR, click on Vibrant if prompted, click on reboot into recovery.. should be at the stock recovey, click to reinstall packages *may need to do this twice*
I did that, but then it automatically goes black then goes to the Vibrant Screen.

Try powering down the phone, then holding down the volume keys and the power button (release the power button when you see the Vibrant logo), to see if you can get into recovery manually.
Finally got it, had to flash back to.stock using odin

unable to backup current rom via rom manager

hi guys
m unable to back up my current rom via rom manager..
so plz tell me any other app or solution for that...
I've never used rom manager, but maybe booting into recovery (power button + home button + up button) and doing your back up from there could solve your problem. I'm always doing back up from there.

i tried it
i tried it but my phone is just restarting like hard reset...
my phone is not going on recovery mode...
plz tell me any other way for to put my phone on recovery mode
thanks for replying
m using android 2.2 version
software version is 10c
The combo is power+home+volume down. If that is just doing a hard reset then that means recovery hasn't been flashed. Try flashing amonRa recovery using the traditional commands method.

Can I get some help....

Alright I just traded for a photon the guy told me it was stock and wasn't rooted. Well it was rooted and on 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198.6. The bootloader was locked though. I came tried to boot into recovery and there is no recovery there. I unlocked the bootloader and tried to install the bootstrap it worked at first but when I rebooted and tried to go back into recovery again there is none on the phone. So whats my best course of action? Use RSD go back to complete stock and start over or is there a fix for this?
i think you are mixing things up a bit, bootstrap is an app that launches a custom made recovery that is kinda like a livecd version of cwm. you have to unlock and then flash it in order for it to stick
I would double check to see if you still had root. if not, you have to re-root. then install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218417
[Unlocked Only][RECOVERY][2011-09-23] Custom CWM-based Recovery 5.0.2.3-photon2.
I remember having the same problem. I just had to repeat some steps.

Just rsd to the latest sbf once booted go into settings . Then privacy. Then factory data reset. OK now power off. Turn on holding volume down an power once screen says fastboot, let go and press volume down til u see android recovery. Press volume up to start it. When the icon comes up press volume down and volume up at same time. Now you are in recovery do what u need in there and soon you will back to 100% stock.

Also can you clarify how you are trying to get into recovery? And what does happen when your perform the steps to get there?

Finding out if your unlocked?

I bought this phone a couple weeks ago, already rooted and on a stock rom , the radios and everything else is flashed for cricket.
My question is, how can I find out if I have an unlocked bootloader and a recovery installed?
May sound like a stupid question, but I'm still new for Motorola, so I'm not used to having a locked boot . My thinking is that it must be unlocked if the phone is fully flashed to cricket.
Turn the phone off and turn it back on. At the top it will say unlocked if it's unlocked. To find if it has a custom recovery turn the phone off and hold the volume down and power until you see fastboot. Then use the volume down button until you see android recovery then press volume up to enter recovery. If it goes to recovery you're good if not then it doesn't. But it will only have a custom recovery if it was unlocked before.

If you have CWM recovery you shouldn't have to hit up. You should be able to just hold power and volume down and it'll boot straight into recovery. :]
I want your phone

Can't get rid of Odin recovery! Help!

So I rooted my GS4 with NC5 using the newly discovered towrelroot apk. I have since changed my mind and want to go back to complete stock. I went to sammobile.com and downloaded the full NC5 update and Odin 3.09 and followed the steps there and it said PASS. I have lost root but when I do vol down + home + power it still goes into the Odin recovery not the stock. How can I get the stock recovery back? Please help!!!!
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Free mobile app
That root did not effect the recovery. That is the stock recovery.

That button combo is to put the phone into download mode aka Odin mode. If you want recovery mode then volume up + power it'll vibrate then in the top left display recovery mode in blue letters let go of power button. It happens quickly sometimes so be ready to let go of power button. Once in on the top it'll say Android recovery . Don't panic if you see the green android before the recovery; that's normal
