losing connection to device via ADB after 5-10 seconds.. - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys!
ill start with some specs...
running RA-hero-v1.7.0.1 on a GSM hero with 2.1. Villainrom12
When I try to connect via ADB I seem to loose connection after a couple of seconds..
If I run adb shell it just drops out or doesnt work at all.
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb shell
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
** daemon still not runningerror: cannot connect to daemon
if I try adb shell a couple of times again I get.
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb shell
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
/ #
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>
Drops out of shell before I have time to do anything.
This only happens when im in recovery mode on the phone. Not if the phone is in normal mode.
Would be very happy if someone has any idea of whats going on.

You can ONLY use ADB in the normal mode of your phone ;-) (correct me if I'm wrong)

nah.. thats not correct.. I am supposed to be able to use adb in recovery..

hmm.. I was never able to use ADB in recovery..

its a feature in RA-hero-v1.7.0.1

Moved to Q&A as not development.
Can you update your USB drivers to the HTC Sync 3 ones and see if that helps

where do I get those drivers?

oh... hehe.. learn to read?
thanks, ill try that..

you have pdanet installed?
You need too use soc 1.5.5 with rage
Sent from my Dell Streak 7
theskipshow,
Here are some suggestions
Hi,
i struggled with the same problem, but at the end i found a solution.
First of all, you have to install 2 app from dell.com
Navigate to dell.com, go to drivers & downloads, then choose Support for home users and choose your device.
You get a list of 4 files. what you need is:
- Dell Aplication - Dell PC suite for Android 1.6
- Dell Driver - Dell mobile sync powered by nero for Android 2.2
Install both of them - one will "take control" of the phone when off, the second when its turned on (you will see later )
Turn off your phone, then start superoneclick, it will start the daemon and when it says waiting for device, simply turn it on and wait for a minute. When it will be booted to a state super one click will continue.
If you dont have the old driver from 1.6, superoneclick will not even start the daemon as it will not see your phone...
PS: this is a solution that works under Vista and win7, where the proprietary ADB driver is loading automatically, but our beautiful, wonderfull, adorable Dell shxt does not work correctly with it.

Make sure you have selected development under applications.
Turn streak off leave plugged in.
Start one click select rage against the cage
Wait till you see waiting for device
Start the streak
It will root during the boot process.
Big Thank you!!
Just wanted to say thanks for the hand holding. Would never have got it done. Rooted and all is good with the android world today

[Q] Rooting MAXX on Mac issue

hello, new user here. just got my maxx in today and love it!
ive been looking online on how to root it on my mac, seems easy enough.
however, went i go to type in "sh run.sh" to run the root exploit, it says:
[*] Waiting for device...
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
then it does nothing and just sits there.
am i missing something? USB debugging is on, it is on Charge Only. i cannot figure out if im missing a step here...
also, this is using the MotoFail exploit, if that helps at all.
so i think it might have to do with USB debugging NOT working. which is odd, phone is stock out of the box right now, why wouldnt it work??
Strange... Have you tried a normal command via adb like "adb get-serialno" if you get your serial number then debug mod is working.

i have not yet, good idea though. can you explain how id do this exactly? sorry im kind of a noob when it comes to adb. also, im pretty sure debugging isnt working.
Oke I dont own a MAC but am using Linux. I need to set the usb to pc mode to make rooting work with motofail. Maybe that's your case also?

I don't own a mac but you just need to open Terminal and cd to the folder where you extracted motofail.

I've tried everything and adb just won't recognize my phone, I have debugging on and make sure I have enough batter life...
I'm running Lion 10.7.4, I can fastboot without any difficulty but not ADB...
does anyone have any idea about what could be wrong or how I can update my drivers on my phone maybe?
THANK in advance!!!

I am EXTREMELY unfamiliar with a MAC computer, but I imagine it would have a command prompt like program. I believe it's called "Terminal" on MAC.
Have you tried manually running adb through terminal with a command?
Or is it just a problem within the phones adb?
Tried putting your phone on USB mass storage like mode, such as mount as disk drive?
Just trying to think of some things off the top of my head.
ya I've been using terminal and ADB shows that it starts up perfectly like my windows side. I can run fastboot commands with no problem, I've hooked my phone to the computer regularly and also as a mass storage device and ether way it doesn't recognize it.
I think it is something wrong with the ADB code on my phone because I was able to run adb with my brother's phone and my mac recognized it. his phone is stock he hasn't rooted it or anything...

That's pretty strange. Have you tried flashing to another ROM?
Ya I flashed by to my stock rom and it still didn't want to run... I flashed to an MIUI rom and it didn't want to recognize it ether... so I don't know what's going on... I did unlock my phone using the HTC method, but I did it through my windows side so that might be the reason because it was flashed under windows instead of mac, I don't know if that would really make a difference since it's the same language for fastboot and ADB... what do you guys think? if you think if would make a difference then I'll do it but it just takes a LONG time to run you have to lock the bootloader and then unlock it again, wipes all my data and then I have to reload everything over again... so if you think it would make a difference I'll definitely try it.
Did you get s off before you tried flashing roms? I know that miui is packaged with a custom kernel and you can't flash roms in recovery that have a custom kernel with s on.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
no I don't have s off, but I do have an unlocked bootloader and through adb and fastboot I can flash custom kernels, right now I have imoseyon-6.1.AOSP+root and running liquid Gingerbread 3.2 ROM, Android 2.3.7, with the tbolt's update a few months ago HTC locked down the Bootloader and there's no new program like revolutionary to unlock the new bootloader that I know of... I can change everything on my phone except the Radio, but it's through ADB and fastboot you just have to know the codes and what you're doing haha! I've been able to do all that through my windows parellel but I want to get away from that so I can develop everything through my mac OS which is suppose to be easier, from what I read and hear.
Hmmm... I have heard linux is but not mac. I dunno maybe you're right.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Maybe you should try flashing back through windows.
I suppose it wouldn't hurt anything. I'm sure it's worth a shot anyways.

You can S-OFF with the latest update. I have a windows tool that automates most of it.
so I relocked my bootloader with my windows and then unlocked it again through my MAC and the ADB still doesn't want to recognize my phone through terminal, it shows it on my system info just not through ADB...
trter10- you can!!!??? SA-WEE-TA!!! what's the link?

Link in my sig. You will have to relock and ruu before it works though because just relocking causes a security warning

Relock the boot loader and flash a pg05img to 2.11.605.19. Problem is that it wipes data

1. Make sure parallells is closed so it doesn't steal your connection.
2. cd to the directory platform-tools
3. Type ./adb devices
I didn't see if you confirmed Parallels being closed or not.
OK I FIGURED IT OUT!!!! oh my goodness!!!! this was soo easy and I totally bashed my head in when I finally figured it out!!! oh my goodness!!!!
I had debugging on but I didn't have "unknown sources" marked!!! oh my goodness!!! so when I had both of those marked then it pulled my device right up on my MAC!!!
well for all of those that tried to help me thank you very much!!! I hope you all have a good day!!!

adbd service is removed from my device.

Hello, I am very new here and I have a big problem, I was working with a device that is using Android OS, suddenly its ADB is not working. I tried to start the service but I think the adbd file is missing. I searched a lot and found nothing, Can you please tell me how can I fix this issue?
I have no root access, I don't know how it is removed.
@newdevnoob
Basically adbd ( ADB daemon ) only present on developer-friendly Android devices, means what are debugable.
Have you enabled USB debugging in device's Developer options?

How do you know that adbd is missing on Android device? What error message do you get PC-side?

I used Terminal Emulator to start adb Service manually but it's not working.
even I tried to find its executable, it doesn't exist too.
can you please help me to diagnose this problem?
@newdevnoob
OMG
You run ADB on PC, NOT on Android device.
My advice: Become familiar with ADB.
You are right, we run adb on PC but there should be a service that handles those commands so I am saying that there is a problem on the device side, I tried other devices and they are working fine, I only cant use this device with adb, I asked for your help not a joke.

Screen broke, how to get to the data?

Hello there,
my K30 Ultra fell down and the display only shows green/purple lines when on. A display replacement costs 165 bucks for the amoled only (at least i didn't found it cheaper), so I think I would just buy a Poco F4. Unfortunately, my last backup is too long ago and i would like to access the data. But every time I connected the phone, it failed because usb debugging authentication didnt work (I tried tapping the screen everywhere).
The phone is unlocked and rooted. Any way to access it or use an external screen with it?
Thank you so much for the help!
USB debugging is your friend.
More here.

Thank you, GalaxyA325G!
I read through a lot of what you linked in that post and the farthest I got is getting my device into Recovery and getting it recognized by ADB. But then it says
PS C:\Program Files\platform-tools> adb devices
List of devices attached
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
wgg6rwt8eipnfuto unauthorized
PS C:\Program Files\platform-tools> ./adb shell mount data
adb server version (32) doesn't match this client (41); killing...
* daemon started successfully
adb.exe: device unauthorized.
This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set
Try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.

So i was thinking, what if i could enable USB Debugging in TWRP? I need a couple clicks but i may be able to do it, right? Im just afraid of breaking my phone to be honest. Any others steps you could think of?
