[Mod] JI6 OTA Rom & Lockscreen Mod Accurate Battery Icons *10-15-10* - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Here are a bunch of different Battery Icons from multiple Dev's/Modders including myself that were made... and now work in the JI6 OTA roms.
Big thanks goes out to zimphishmonger for working with me on making the original battery icons based on 'fightspit's mod' work on our Vibrants. Also thank you to s0niqu3 for her modded framework that allowed me to port the icons to OTA JI6, and make them work with the lockscreens.
All these can be flashed with clockwork.
These Icons are only for the JI6 OTA Rom and will not work on the JFD stock rom or any other roms for that matter (This includes Bionix Roms!)
*10-15-10 Fixed the issue with the menu button unlocking the phone in the android lockscreen included with the battery mods. Thanks to s0niqu3 for all her help!
*10-14-10 Added a new Updated Android Battery Icon
See post 4 for the icons with the lockscreen included.
See Post 3 for battery icons that work with the lockscreen mod! (Not Included)
Screenshots are in the the 2nd post.
This post has the battery icons with no lockscreen or lockscreen compatibility.
Who Made Them:
Square Battery Icons - The3dman
Circular Battery Blue - Originally by FightSpit and ported by Zimphishmonger & The3dman
Segmented Battery Green - Originally by FightSpit and ported by Zimphishmonger & The3dman
Orb Battery - The3dman
Upright Battery Icons - s0niqu3
Stock Accurate Battery Icons - s0niqu3
MoonPhase Battery Icons - The3dman

Screen Shots

Battery Icons LockScreen Compatible but Not Included
Here are the same icons but made to work with the lockscreen mod installed on OTA JI6. THESE DO NOT HAVE THE LOCKSCREEN INCLUDED.

Battery Icons with LockScreen Included
Here are the same icons again, but these ones have the lockscreen included.
A big thanks goes to untermensch for the LockScreen.
*Update* All these icons have been updated to include the fix to disable the menu button from unlocking the screen with the android lockscreen.

So, will these also work on non-JI2 ROMs? I'm on JFD (stock) and would love the stock accurate battery.

No these will not but you can get the ones that will from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758797

Has anyone tried these with Frankin-Twiz? I read it was based off of the pre-leak.

Have not tried it on that rom yet....

Currently doing a Nandroid backup. Will report back when I am done flashing the batt icons.
EDIT: Doesn't work with Frankin-Twiz sadly. Kept getting FC's.

Thanks for the link but it doesn't really seem to be what I'm looking for. Has anyone made a stock battery icon that accurately represents remaining power? I'm thinking no changing colors and no numbers in the center. I like the stock one just the way looks, I just want it to be accurate.

Nope, I didn't bother, because 28 pixels (the stock width of the colored portion of the battery that represents remaining charge) is just too few to accurately represent the current charge levels, at least for me, without also having the numerical percentage.
Seems like a great opportunity to learn a bit about android and fill the mod you want yourself though, happy to help you out along the way, just so tired of making new PNG files myself, at least until we get CM6 or another AOSP rom, sorry.
Cheers,
=)

Hi,
These shouldn't work on the new franken-twiz build, since they use a newer version of framework-res.apk, that likely relies on changes in other framework files not present in the franken-twiz build.
I've made a very rough beta for the franken-twiz of ONLY the upright/vertical battery mod here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758797
WARNING: Read the op in that thread thoroughly, because you'll lose Eugene's custom theme (well, most of it, not 100% though) if you use my mod, since I wasn't able to get the framework-res.apk he modified to recompile without replacing the entire drawable-hdpi folder with one from a stock JFD rom, hence 99% of touchwiz skin is back in my mod.
I'm also not providing it in a flashable zip form yet, because really, if you flashed his franken build, you should know how to use adb push that he enabled.
Cheers,
=)

Nice work everyone! May eventually get me to go over the a JI2-based FrankenTWiz once they get that nasty volume button\call drop bug worked out.

Thanks for this. Using the stock battery graphic with percentage and am liking it greatly.

This is absolutely awesome. I got hooked on accurate battery when it first came out and wont run a rom without it now. I was holding off on the new leaked rom till this came out now am loving it.
Great work and thanks again

[MOD] I9000 *matte* skin and accurate battery *10/5/2010*

First and foremost, this would not have originally been possible without all the hard work zimphishmonger and the3dman13 did to bring fighspit's original battery mod to the vibrant, please see the original thread here, and give them some thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756441
I'm also borrowing zimphishmonger's warning, as i think it works to keep warning messages standard across all these battery mod threads.
WARNING: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup prior to installing any modification, including this one. You are making the decision to install this on your own, and I am not responsible for anything nuclear that may happen to your device.
UPDATE.. I lost count (10/5/2010)
So I dig Eugene's Frankin-twiz rom's, but I still want to keep my accurate battery mod, and well, I think his glossy-black skin is ugly. I also think the stock vibrant touchwiz skin is ugly (for the love of all that's holy samsung, why did you decide the vibrant would be the ONLY galaxy s phone to get your stupid glossy version of touchwiz?!)
So, I ported my battery mod to frankin-twiz and at the same time, ripped all the matte (non glossy) drawable's from the I9000 touchwiz skin, and added in my colored status/signal, mms, calendar, music player, and gmail icons, restored the black background for the power control widget, added HTC's weather icons to GenieWidget.apk, changed to the stock I9000 bootup and shutdown animation and sounds, and of course, I probably missed something else too, lol. You can see some (semi-outdated) screenshots here: http://picasaweb.google.com/113127051130934911253/AndroidStuff?feat=directlink
Also, if you find yourself being a typography nerd like me, you can use this zip to switch the default system font to Comfortaa I take NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for making the original font, or the android port, I only re-packaged the files into a Clockwork-mod zip file for the vibrant. This will also change the lockscreen clock font to comfortaa, but ONLY if using the default android lockscreen.
Comfortaa system fonts: http://www.4shared.com/file/hYu1TYHL/Comfortaa_system_fonts_ONLY.html
New for ftwiz_final: I'm including an extra version with the samsung calendar AND the AOSP mms app, per Eugene's thread, since it resolves issues with being unable to send sms/mms messages. I'm also including the newest version of my battery mod (this is the version I personally like best and use daily), based on the upright/vertical icons, but with colored borders/outline, and a smoother charging animation (thanks to untermensch!) This can be applied on its own, after you flash either of the other versions. If flashed without flashing one of the other versions first, it DOES NOT contain the gmail/calendar/mms/music player icons, or the startup & shutdown animations and sounds. You can see a screenshot added to the post below too.
Download links here, ftwiz_final ONLY:
Removed, sorry, too many people use other people's work without giving credit, and it leads to way too many headaches, he-said/she-said, ignorance, etc.
Everything should flash via clockwork recovery fine, place the zip on the root of your INTERNAL /sdcard directory, reboot into clockwork, I recommend wiping the cache & dalvik-cache, then install zip from sdcard, locate the specific zip, reboot.
Enjoy, cheers everyone, and if you come in here posting bugs/whining for help without first making sure you cleared your cache and dalvik-cache, then I'm just going to ignore you,
Looks Great!!!
Thanks alot works well on my phone
i love it! not a big fan of the round battery icon, so this is great
Great work! Glad to see everyone is making their own customized battery images. We are gonna have a battery collection soon.
just a quick update to the OP with a new version with some colored/themed status icons.

I did, switched from the green circle. The battery indicator works fine.
I used the circle one but saw this with the other colored icons and thought they were cool. Seems that they don't quite work properly. Stock the GPS indicator shows in the notification bar any time it's on. With the new icons from the op the indicator is only on if I'm in an app that is using the GPS. I'm going to flash back to stock then to the battery only mod (i figure I need to to switch the other icons?)

Hi,
Thanks for trying it out. I have no idea how there might be issues since this is literally just img replacement from the segmented green circular battery mod, so however icons should work with that mod, is how they should work with this mod.
Maybe run a fix permissions from rom manager and see if that helps?
Also, my GPS icon has never worked like you described, even stock, (in other words, mine isn't always visible in notification bar, even when not in an app actively using gps, its displayed only when using an app that needs GPS, and disappeared when exiting the app.)
If you want to try and modify your own framework-res.apk with these files, I may upload just my png images once I'm done replacing/coloring all the icons I feel like modifying.
Thanks again for trying it out though, cheers
Lastly, I got bored and colored the wifi icons, cell-signal icons, and vibration indicator icon, I'll post the framework-res.apk in the first post, but won't package a new update.zip until I decide I'm done modifying icons, lol.

Glad I wasn't screwing up phone's, lol.
Anyway, I'm still working on changing all the icons, can't seem to decide where to stop yet, since now I've started modifying icons for other apps, gmail, mms, google voice, trillian, etc. And of course, now that I've gone with a slightly brighter green in the other icons, I may go back and tweak the color of my battery icon to match.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of some of the icons I'm mostly finished with (though for some reason I'm not digging the alarm icon, anyone have color suggestions for it?)

Yeah...sorry about that. Anyway I hate that stupid icon to begin with so maybe something totally different? I did a GIS for alarm clock icon and there are a lot of possibilities. I think that maybe the stock one with a red square and white clock could be good.

If you don't already have it, I suggest you install Koush's Clockwork Recovery. You can install it quickly by using ROM Manager.
Once you boot into the recovery ROM, you can back up your entire phone using Nandroid (highly advised) and then you're free to experiment to your heart's content.
Now back to your question: you can save the file to your internal SD card and search for it using the 'Install from SD' (or something like that) option in the Clockwork ROM, install it and reboot.
Good luck, friend.
What's the right way to revert this? framework-res.apk restore?

I think I'm done with this for a while now, though I might zip all the png files if someone else wants to try and make this into a morph when the app gets updated.

Hi,
Yes, restoring your backed-up framework-res.apk will restore the battery mod. If you used the newer zip that also includes the Gmail icon mod, then you'll need to restore Gmail.apk too /system/app too.

[Theme] Vanilla Android Look (JK2 / Macnut R5 / Hybrid R4 / JI6) - Updated 11/22/2010

I just thought I would post these for anyone who likes the complete vanilla android look. I basically ported over my pulldown mod that I did for the AOSPish roms to Eugene's latest hybrid rom and his macnut froyo rom.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Update: 11/22/2010 - Updated for JK2 per request below. This update includes a couple of different items than the previous versions and I am not going to update the older versions since everyone is most likely moving on from most of the eclair builds.
JK2 Version includes:
- Mostly same as below.
- New icon for auto-orientation to better fit
- Includes a more accurate AOSP-looking battery mod. This was done by me to look identical to the AOSP battery with the exception that it moves down by 5% increments instead of 20%. It also does not show the percentage.
- Includes the CM6 MMS for the notification icon
- Includes the Settings.apk so isn't all colored and ugly
I have tested this with Mancut R12 and it works pretty good. The AOSP lockscreen has a slight two tone color issue with the slider tab that I can't figure out. I would recommend using this with this ROM (runs the best).
This can also be flashed over AOSPish JK2 and work just fine.
I think this has issues with BIONIX JK2 roms due to some of the edits/enhancements they have made.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The new JI6 version should work on most de-odexed JI6 ROMs. I tested on BIONIX final and fusion without issue.
I tried to pull as much of the TW look/style/colors out of the frameworks to achieve the stock android look. The hybrid rom version is more complete since the froyo rom still contains a lot of samsung apps.
What is included:
- Mostly stock vanilla android look (typical AOSP)
- Themed power control in pull-down to kind of match the stock android power control widget.
- Added functionality in the pull-down power controls from untermensch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816658) - Better bluetooth and three state volume/vibrate. (Only 2.1 based roms) - updated to newest revision.
- Added the pull-down highlight fix by matt_stang (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822286)
- All horizontal progress bars are stock android orange, not green.
- All list sub text is stock gray, not blue.
- In call pull-down controls and music pull-down controls work with the appropriate apps.
- NO accurate battery (maybe later but it would retain complete stock look)
- Hybrid version includes a phone app and desk clock for icon changes.
- Hybrid version includes the modded music app to play nice with pull-down controls, untermensch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818340)
- JI6 version includes AOSP mms app.
Flashable in CWR. Doesn't wipe anything.
Thanks to all the people here for the great work! Credits to everyone, YAY!
That does look pretty sexy... might have to give this a shot at some point. Thank you.
Thanks flashed and I love it! Using R5 by the way..

You are awesome! I spent most of the day today trying to do just this and failed miserably (I have much to learn), and luckily found this just after I gave up. This is great, thanks!
I have one request if you have the time: could you please make a version with the accurate battery icons that Eugene has in Hybrid? Would be great to have the 100 or so icons for discharging and the others for charging. Thanks!
I should also mention that the phone got stuck on the Samsung boot loop on the first boot after flashing this, but I turned it off and back on and everything was back to normal. Not sure if that's a one-time fluke or due to the flash.

As far as the accurate battery, I know that's not quite stock. Mostly just a personal preference so I can actually tell how much battery I have left (seeing as 100% and 81% looks exactly the same with the stock battery). I might try to make that mod based on yours, but last time I did that the results were disastrous.
cgrunner, can I ask what you do to edit framework-res.apk? I'm trying to figure out how to get those battery icons in there, but every time I decompile and compile back (even without making changes), I get a bunch of errors. Is there some trick to this that I'm not aware of? If it helps, I can't just add the images in there, I have to also modify the xml files related to battery status.

You can't decompile and then recompile a modified apk, mainly due to broken 9 patch images.
What you can do is decompile and modify a stock de-odexed JI6 framework-res.apk, then recompile it and move the modified compiled files over to my framework-res.apk from this mod.
So, to modify this for an accurate battery mod all you really need to do is find a framework with the modified framework files for the accurate battery mod. You need to pull stat_sys_battery.xml and stat_sys_battery_charge.xml from /res/drawable in the framework-res.apk for the accurate battery mod. place these into the same directory in my framework-res.apk. Then place all of the appropriate images for the accurate battery mod in /res/drawable-hdpi.
That should work as lond as you use a JI6 accurate battery mod to work from. Maybe find a meta morph battery mod and pull the files from there.
I hope this helps and isn't too confusing Let me know if you have success. I may work on a new battery mod for this that still carries the AOSP look but is more accurate. It's just a lot of tedious work.
Edit... You will also need to edit the public.xml with the names of all the new images. Let me see if I can make an accurate battery version of these and then you just have to replace the images if you want.
Should we disable Voodoo first before applying this? I'm running Bionix Fusion w/ Voodoo.

Ah, thanks Just out of curiosity, do you know what the reason is that we can decompile the stock framework-res.apk but not decompile it again after it's been modified and compiled?
I guess making changes to your framework-res would be too hard since I'd basically have to redo all of your work, so it would be great if you could tack on the new images to public.xml. If it helps, I can zip up the images from Eugene's Hybrid ROM that I've been trying to use and the compiled/decompiled battery xml files (whichever is easier), and I can also post the new public.xml values somewhere (there's roughly 100 of them).
Thanks for your help!
This is the bees knees!

[MOD/theme] JK2/onyx 2.2 *matte* theme, et.al.

UPDATE 11/19/2010 4:00pm
DOWNLOADS INDEFINITELY REMOVED, taking a break from XDA, and don't want to return to a thread of nothing but bug reports, whining, and more un-credited use of my work.
And lastly, I never used to care about people using my work if they gave me credit, but I've found a lot of people re-packaging my battery icons without any mention of credit, or link to my original threads, and its just really annoying, takes barely a few seconds to add a "credit/thanks to xxxx" note or link somewhere in your posts. So from henceforth if you want to use my mods/theme in your own rom, mod, etc. you MUST:
1) ask my permission to do so.
2) you must link back to my thread and provide credit to me in your post
3) your mod/theme/etc. must be for non-commercial purposes
4) you must also share your mod/theme back to the community
Nice. Thanks.
I was gonna try and mod it myself for accurate battery and all but then thought nah Jocelyn will post something in the next few days and her stuff always rocks.
You gonna add in the bluetooth and power menu mods?
Could you do a black mod? This woud be awesome. Thanks!
Thank you very much for this! I LOVE it! The blue really goes nice with my already blue wallpaper and blue glove. The animations are freaking awesome as well!

Hi,
On JK2 the bluetooth toggle seems fixed already, at least for me, when i click it, it toggles on and starts scanning for devices in a popup automatically, so there really isn't a need for that.
And once untermensch ports his power-menu mod and the epic/puzzle lockscreen mod to JK2, I'll add them both.
I know he's working on porting some of his mods to froyo already, and I might look through the power menu to see if I can do it without waiting for him to port it officially, but the lockscreen mod is definitely over my head until he releases froyo specific mod/source.
Cheers everyone, =)
removed I figured it out
awesome work as always,
flashing NAO!
Perfect! Really like the color changes and the window shade look, plus the battery icon. Animations are ok.... Wasn't there a way to speed up animations system wide?
Tapatalk sent this.
Updated the OP with a couple options to switch to the AOSP lockscreen instead of the samsung glass-lock.
Cheers, =)

Hi,
You can speed up animations using SpareParts.apk
I don't honestly remember where I got the apk I'm using now, but you might be able to find it on the market, or likely a CM5.0.8 or CM6 build for the nexus one.
Cheers, =)

Hey Jocelyn -
Actually, the power menu mod is already working in Obsidian V2. All you should need is some components from their framework-res.apk, the framework.jar, and the android.policy.jar, and it will work on the ROM you are using. I have it working on mine just fine (same ROM as you). At the very least, if you get stuck trying to do it yourself, using these files as a reference might help.
Good luck.
can i install this MOD on AOSPish 1.1 ? (JK2, as i know)
just flashed this and got the animations and the color changes but no AOSP can be found. I flashed the latest jk2_matte_with aosp lockscreen. Tried turning puzzle on and off in display but still only the glass lock screen is showing.
tnx Jocelyn

Awesome! Thanks so much for your awesome work, s0niqu3! This what what I had been missing from the JK2 rom!
In Eugene's Macnut R10 build, the baseband is listed as JK2 and I know he ported some of the unofficial leak over to that build, I'm wondering if this is compatible? Has anybody tried? Or what else do I need to look for to check compatibility before I try it. I can restore, thats never a concern, but would rather avoid fc cutting if I can.
Edited: no, no it does not, but i gave it the old college try. hopefully eugene's next build will be more jk2 and compatible, cause i dig s0niqu3's battery mods.

s0niqu3, great mod. Would you be able to make a black version of your notification menu(basically invert all the elements )?

Hi,
Sorry, totally my fault, forgot that most people don't have JK2 deodexed, lol.
Anyway, updating the OP now with a version that should work on people with stock, odexed JK2, please let me know if it works.
Cheers, =)
Updated the OP to atone for my moment of idiocy forgetting that most people don't have JK2 deodexed.
In other words, zip files for the AOSP lockscreen have been re-uploaded with versions that should work for people on stock, odexed JK2.
Sorry, and cheers everyone, =)

I just slipstreamed Twisted Stock II files in to Simply Stock and the only annoying bug I have found is that the battery isn't 1% intervals. For instances I have 83% battery and the battery icon is stuck on 100. I like some of the new icons you have introduced but I would recommend changing the wifi icon on notification bar. I find the wifi word in it distracting and cheesy looking. Maybe just clean up the wifi icon and remove the wifi word. I would also prefer the colored segmented 1% battery. This circle one looks cheesy. The phone and my files icons definitely needs replaced with something cleaner and more professional imho. I would also like to see all transparent menus as we as transparent dropdown notification bar and blue notification widget buttons. I really don't like any of the dropdown widget icons either. They don't look right with the theme and make it look cheap and scattered. I absolutely loved the icon sets from splash of color and vibranthd themes. If you could integrate some of those and the changes above you would make this the best color theme ever. By the way the roboto font from ics looks amazing with this theme and all other roms and themes. Of course all of this is my opinion and I'm anal when it comes to themes. I really appreciate your hard work and I hope you consider my opinion. Have you thought about doing a full ICS clone theme with accurate segmented or honeycomb battery. Now that would be beautiful! I was running cm7 with ics cm7 theme v1.2 modded with honeycomb accurate battery and ics lock and is beautiful and smooth on the latest cm7 nightly with robotic font. I'm glad google got away from the ugly gingerbread green and went with that blue color!

I just tried downloading neon ice cream, and it was linked correctly. Try downloading again. You should not see the word "honey" in the filename.
Thanks.

Pretty much anything is possible, with enough work. So did you mean a background to the statusbar itself, or a background to the whole expanded taskbar (once it's pulled down)?
I've seen both while back on Gingerbread. I believe the tweaks are similar, if not the same.
Sorry for such a question, but will this batterises work on passion v10?

These battery mods were built against the Onecosmic ICS framework. Flashing one of these may damage your ICS Passion experience, like boot-looping, lost functionality, or cosmetic differences. For ICS Passion, you need to go to this thread.
