[Q] Danish user - Recommended radio? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there.
I installed the Artemis 33.1 yesterday, and read about it supported many radios, mine however was not on the list: 2.06.51.07
The ROM works fine though, but I was wondering, should I update radio? Is it any good to do so?
Any danes that could say what radio they're using?
Pros/cons ?

Hey Animefan.
I'm using Radio 2.12.50.02_2 whick is the latest radio I've encountered. It works fine on CallMe, TDC, 3, Telia and Telenor and the quality of the calls and sounds are just perfect. Just now I'm using Elegancia cooked ROM.

How about GPS and 3g / GPRS and such?

Haven't encountered problems there either. HD2 catches satelites fast and 3G connections. I live in a area where 3G is weak, but again - no problems. In fact my HD2 is more stable on 3G than my Desire.

Best Radio for 3 in sweden ?

Anyone tested radio roms in .se ?
I think that 1.47.00.10 is the best yet.
All roms above disconnects me when driving around in car..
Same problem for me.
I've tried every radio from 1.51 and worked my way downwards. I'm currently trying 1.35.0.11.
The problem with dropped calls during driving disappeared, but now i get dropped calls when standing still instead. If I do a soft reset, the phone works normally for some time before it starts dropping calls again.
Tested new 1.47.30.10 ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326995
Each radio is calibrated for the network it was designed for. So, I would first test the radios that were made for the 3 network in Sweden as they will most likely produced the best results; all other radios would produce mixed/subjective results.
And how do I know which radios that are made for 3;s network in Sweden ?
I've tried the radio version that I found in one of the instructions on 3's support-page (1.38.00.10)
http://www.tre.se/upload/Programvara/mob/Instruktioner_uppgradHTCTyTN.pdf
That didn't work any better than the rest I've tested.
1.35.0.11 worked like a charm for some days, with minor bugs, until just recently when the phone began dropping calls again..
I will try with 1.47.30.10 later today.
1.47.30.10 worked in the same way as the other "newer" radios did:
Not moving = Good!
Moving = Dropped calls. You CAN NOT be in a moving vehicle since roaming between your operators antennas or changing from 3G to GSM disconnects the call immediately.
The "older" radios works fine for a random timelimit, then a soft reset is needed. Roaming doesn't seem to disconnect calls.
Would it help if i changed ROM / ExtROM?
Current setup:
Swedish WM 6, downloaded from HTC (3.54.263.2)
Radio: 1.27.00.00 (have tried every radio version that is newer without success..)
ExtROM: 3.54.263.102
Operator: 3
Area: Stockholm / Sweden
Fine. But I have 1.50 with Telia it works gr8

[UPG][REF]Raphael Radio ROMs (Separate RUU updates)

For those wanting to upgrade only their radio I have uploaded the following RUU packages:
Radio 1.02.25.31 (Cingular)
Radio 1.02.25.19 (HTC)
Radio 1.02.25.11 (HTC)
Radio 1.01.25.16 (Cingular)
Each of the packages already contains an ROM updater which does not erase your phone, so your operating system and settings will remain intact.
Note: You need to have HardSPL before attempting to flash these!
Remember that flashing anything on your phone is always at your own risk.
I have updated my HTC Touch Pro to from Radio 1.02.25.19 to Radio 1.02.25.31 without any problems.
Update 1: Added Cingular Radio 1.01.25.16
THANK YOU now i try in my diamond
Do these radios work also on Diamond ?
They will not flash in your Diamond if your Diamond radio is security locked.
I would advise against flashing Raphael radio's in your Diamond, there is no reason to.
It could work because the chipset is the same, but why take the chance to brick your phone by flashing a radio which is not meant for it.
Do you see any improvement with .31 radio?
Tested it for about an hour or so now.
Can't say I noticed any difference, but I only tested it around the house. Reception around here is generally very bad and it seems to hold up nicely, so its definitely not worse then the previous radio.
GPRS, EDGE and HSPDA seem to work fine.
What about the Cingular one..? Anyone try this in the US to see if the 3g is now present..?
i flashed my touch pro with .31 and it went perfectly. In fact my US AT&T shows G. Not sure if that is the same as 3G but i am also at work where i have bad reception so that may play into it
as with the roms thread, the info is in the wiki pages already.
Although do keep discussion on the radio performance open
3g radio work in North America?
I bought the Diamond in the UK and haven't gotten anything but EDGE. Will any of the RADIO updates address this or is it a hardware problem ?

My TyTN II would show 3G most of the time in the Chicago area. It would switch to H whenever it was downloading. That's the ONLY THING I miss having now that I got the TP...Edge is too terribly slow to do anything but update the weather and my RSS feeds off hours (like at 3AM).

Can canadians use these 3g radio updates? I have a UK phone and i'm only getting EDGE right now
So what was decided about Diamond radios? I know the discussion was started but was there a conclusion? I like the radio on my diamond much better than .19 on the Pro.
TIA
Hey mixmaven, go read the other raphael radio thread, this was answered already!

Can Cingular Radio work on HTC Rom?

Hi all,
I'd like to know that the Cingular' radio (as 1.02.25.31) works well on HTC rom or not? Because based on my experience with the Kaiser (WM 6.0 only), ATT radios could not work on HTC rom (no sound).
And does 1.02.25.31 support 3G?
Thank you!
I can answer myself 'Yes!"
I need time to compare those radios.
I am running the Cingular Radio ROM in combination with the DCS ROM, and it works just fine. No problems with it. Seems to give me slightly better reception.
I'm using it in Gainesville, FL and I think the reception is better than 1.02.25.19

Telstra Australia HD2 Question

Hi
My office is giving me a HD2 from Telstra - can anyone tell my what ROMs are compatible with it?
I already have a HD2 from the UK and am using Artemis v23 ROM on it. But since the Telstra one also has 850MHz that my UK one doesn't, I am not sure whether I can use any ROM and then tweak something, or whether only certain ROMs can work with it?
I can't believe the amount of Telstra bloatware there is - the std HD2 is way better in my opinion.
Thanks in advance.
DT
I have a Telstra HD2 running Artemis and the latest radio - just used HSPL3 - running just great too

You don't lose any of the connection frequencies??
DT
The simple answer (at least in my experience) is that pretty much anything works.
I've run a variety of ROMs and radios on mine and encountered no deal-breaker compatibility issues.
The radio hardware connects perfectly happily to NextG even if 850Mhz isn't available as a band option (leaving it on Auto seems best).
There is a cab available (search for Telstra_Band_Type) that will make Telstra's frequencies selectable, and there are also instructions on this forum to hack the registry to achieve the same thing.
But I wouldn't bother as it doesn't seem to matter in my experience.

[Q] HD2 T8585 in Australia on Telstra

Hi all.
I'm using Froyo Stone Sense V3.2 on OzDroid with RADIO 2.15.50.14 on a UK 02 T8585. Could anyone recommend a good radio to work with Telstra and the T8585?
Froyo Stone Sense V3.2 does boot with RADIO 2.07.51.22_2 from the Orginal Telstra ROM.
Many thanks
Terence
That combo works pretty well for me in US on AT&T. My only issue is a second or two delay in Bluetooth audio connect when receiving a call.
Thanks, it appears to be a good combo... the battery at leasts last a day....
