[Q] My HD2 main storage space getting low - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I having this problem now. My HD2 main storage space getting low. Currently space only 40mb+- from 100mb(2 month ago).
I install few application in starage card only. (tough light, zuma, currency exchange rate, cinema show)
Everytime i browse internet, facebook or youtube. It will missing some main storage space.
I tried clear internet cache. Problem still maintain and now my HD2 running slow then before.

Have you run a cleaner application (like in SKTools), or manually cleansed the temporary files?
Since you started with 100Mb I conclude you have quite a lot of apps installed on your device, do any of them use tem files / log files / caching?
Tried looking in \Program Files\ folder?
Tried looking in \Temp\ ?
Tried looking in \Windows\Temp\ ?

I check manually check Temporary file already.. nothing inside. I delete some useless file but still the same. Each time i browse internet, it will deduct some space. So.. after few month. i hav to re-format again.
And app can clear the temporary file ?

:ClearTemp.

Clean Ram workson my HD2
I have installed CleanRAM and let it run occassionally. It reports enormous amounts of memory freed, but also in the HD2 memory page the amount of free memory increases.
You may want to try this, search from CleanRam in xda-developers.

SKTools (not freeware) is a contains a good utility to clean out tem files.
BTW: Are you seeing all files? Some temp files are hidden from normal file explorer, unless you set it to show hidden and system files.
Have you tried empttyng browser cache, cookies and history? (I know this is a "standard" answer, but overlooked sometimes)

Hmm.. show hidden file ardy. Never mind. this month i will reformat 1 more time and downlaod clear temporary file App.

With my HD2 I found I would continually run out of space. The culprit turned out to be the Opera Downloads directory (/windows/opera/profiles/download).
If the main space on the device is filling up and you're mainly mainly using your browser and you've already done stuff like moved your Album photos to the storage card then this could be the culprit.
I mention that because although Opera showed no files in the Downloads directory via Opera settings, when I actually inspected the directory there was about 80mb of files in there (I should also note that ClearTemp which I installed to fix the problem didn't identify this either).
Deleted the files and moved both the Opera cache and the Opera downloads to the storage card via the opera:config settings and I no longer have a problem with the main storage space filling up.
The other thing that did make a difference was specifying in the mail app that attachments should be stored on the storage card as well.

Why did you feel the need to spam three dead threads with your comment?

First I'd try to re-flash your ROM, should bring your device to original state.
Also, just in case freezes reappear, which could mean hardware problem, check "overheating" threads here on xda

[Q] Facebook Image Issue

whenever I use the facebook app (the newest version from Marketplace ) , it saves every image on the phone's memory which takes up space, so my question is; How can I make it so that the images will be saved on the storage card or that the images won't be saved at all.
Good question, no answer? everybody busy looking for a solution?
may be we need to install facebook onto the storage card ? and delete every old file from ram/rom. Does it work ?
It saved the cache to the storage card and will show up in your album, which is annoying. I set the below registry value and no longer have to look at it. ClearTemp will get rid of it until you use the Facebook app again.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored]
"Temp"="\\Temp"

[Q] HD2: Application data lost after every reset

I need help on this issue regarding HD2.
The phone memory is so low that most of the time I have to clean the RAM (using clean RAM application), or as earlier advised by some expert on this HD forums that I should hard reset once every few months to clear my phone.
The issue is of application data like GPS locations, Footprints, etc which cant be backed up and each time u dont go to same place to collect all those information. How do we solve this problem ?
Use ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center wich ever one you have to use, to browse tbrough your HD2 and make backup copies of ygem on your computer. Remember where they were at as after the reset you just copy tgem back to that location and you are good to go.

[Q] Giant folder named "blackmart" refuses to delete. Please Help!

Hey guys wondering if you could help me out here I have a major problem,
So last night I tried downloading a few songs on to my phone and I got an error saying that I don't have enough space. I have a 4GB sd card and I don't have much on it, so I went into a file manager to check it out, and lo and behold, I see a folder titled "blackmart" taking up 99.88% of my storage space. It has a crapload of random files that are just numbers and weird symbols as the title but I can't open them. The whole folder is 651.57GB, or so the file manager says, which is pretty impossible since my memory card obviously does not hold even a hundredth of that.
So I tried deleting it, and it just reappeared. Tried deleting again, again, again... still keeps reappearing.
I do not have a usb for my phone, but I did try connecting it through AirDroid (managing my phone on a desktop over my wifi network) and deleting the folder, but I still get the same results.
This is frustrating because I can't download any music or apps or ANYTHING.
If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much in advance!
P.S. Not sure if this is very important but when I first rooted my phone and was still experimenting, I downloaded the BlackMarket app and everything was fine. Then I uninstalled it since I didn't want it anymore, but this folder is here, and I'm almost sure that it is from that app because somewhere in the 1,301 files that are in the folder are a couple of apk files that I downloaded with the app.
EDIT: Noticed that when I go to Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage it says I still have 2GB left, but the file manager says differently and I still cannot download anything.

Internal Memory Gallery and Apps Data all Dissapear

Hi Guys,
I encounter a strange thing, yesterday my phone was very heat and decided to pull battery out manually (because i don know what things running behind) After restarting the phone, i found out that the internal memory of my photos, videos and the application data are all gone, the phone main screen is normal all the apps icon still there but some apps are not able to run smoothly and need re installed.
My question is:
1. I try to use data recovery software from pc (recuva, stella pheonix etc) but i cant find the photos and videos that i need to recover), at the same time, i try to use from phone apps (undelete, diskdigger). The results are the same i cant find and recover all the files is needed. Anyone know how to recover in other ways?
2. I saw my photo gallery has alot of thumbnail images which i cant open at all after this. I have deleted it, what causes it happen and the thumbnail cache file is more than 2gb, i not dare to delete and i was hoping my files are inside.
3. Is this problem happen due to memory corrupted? or some apps like antivirus caused ? i just install a antivirus call COMODO the day before it happen.
4. Anyone know how to recover internal memory through adb tool ?

[Q] 4.1.2 --- video / image files, thumbnail and cache

Hi
I will be passing on my company phone for someone else to use for couple of weeks, and I am having some privacy concerns about it. I have already transferred all images/videos from the phone's ext SD card, but now I am worried of how I can securely erase the data. I don't wanna buy a new SD card just for this, so I was wondering if there is any way to safely erase/destroy those data.
For starters, I got my self 'secure file deletion' from play store, which allows to wipe off selected data off the phone memory and the external card. Which I did. Images/videos are stored under:
/storage/extSdCard/DCIM/Camera
But after wiping those off, I realised that not all image/video data is cleaned off. The OS also stores thumbnails for those media. Surprisingly, those are stored in phone memory and location can't be changed:
/storage/sdcard0/DCIM/.thumbnails
In there, there are .JPGs (thumbnails) and a strange '.thumbdataXXXX' file. So, I use 'secure file deletion' to remove those as well. Funny thing is that even after erasing those, I can still see the thumbnails of the corresponding video/image (but when I select it, it says 'file not found' - which is expected, because its already been wiped). Nevertheless, my guess is that the thumbnails of those videos/images are also cached elsewhere. But where?
My question is - is that all there is to it? Is the OS storing any more related data in regard to images/videos that I need to wipe? Are those actions I have taken enough to give me peace of mind that my media are safely wiped off beyond recovery?
I found that the secure deletion apps are very few, most of them require root and most even don't work properly (e.g. files reappearing after wipe etc). There are some good ones like 'ishredder 3 pro' and 'clean master' that offer secure wipe options - but only for wiping off entire phone/card memory - which is not what I want here. Any more suggestions?
The phone is a non-rooted Samsung with 4.1.2 Android OS on it. I don't wanna root the phone and I don't want to wipe entire ext card - so any suggestions, please bear that in mind.
Makes me wondering why there isn't any build-in function to the OS for secure deletion of files? Sure it would be slower and not everyone would applaud it, but it could be enabled on demand e.g. via Developer Options...
ta!
I have also noticed, that ever since I started using 'secure file deletion', when I connect via USB to copy files from the extSD to the PC, I get "device not connected" errors every few files I copy. Then, I have to use 'enable usb debugging' (from Dev Options) in order to get the device to show up again.
Any thoughts on my initial queries will be most appreciated. Someone must have noticed those issues. Perhaps they are not specific to 4.1.2 but maybe other versions of the OS...

Just another observation regarding this. If I go into File Manager and nagivate to "/storage/extSdCard/DCIM/Camera" and then go back to Gallery, then the thumbs of videos that are already deleted don't show up. That's a workaround for refreshing the cache (without having to do a full restart).
Anyone noticed those issues, or is it just me???
