Lost paid market after CWM install. - Fascinate Android Development

Any ideas?

I don't see that, I see normal stuff.
Maybe try via WiFi? I doubt that helps, but just confirm that for me.

Appreciate the interest. On wifi now, same business. Was going for an easy fix, but I suppose I can just redo everything.

Okay, I have officially tried everything. Burned my whole afternoon. Even restoring completely to stock with odin doesn't work. Heading in to Verizon tomorrow.

Just give it some time. Mine was like that for about 24 hours.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

Did you try modifying your build.prop file...maybe the footprint got botched.

I did not. Is there an instruction post? I'll search for it tomorrow. About to crash.
Unsure about waiting 24 hours, how does that work?

I know for the dinc there was a market fix so that the phone identified itself as a nexus one to the market. Perhaps something like that would work.

join the club i used Odin to flash CWRecovery and now i dont have WIFI not sure yet if i have market because i dont have 3G service @ home
please some one chime in ???

I flashed CWM last night and everthing is fine. Connected to wifi today at work market isn't giving me any problems.

I was the first guy to get CWM installed on the Fascinate, and I haven't had a single problem with the Market, paid or free.

I don't know if it has anything to do with CWM, but the issue didn't begin until I loaded it, so it's something that got screwed up along the way.
Before I loaded it, I undid the lagfix, wiped, re-rooted, and ran through the CWM steps.
Now I have gone completely back to stock, and am still having the same issues. My G/Fs Fascinate is fine however. I wasn't sure if anyone was familiar with what would be causing the issue, I understand it's working fine for everyone else. lol.

How far back to stock have you gone? If you don't mind going back to base zero, you can try something...

To go completely back to stock what would you recomend? The process outlined for the i9000 mix up?

When my paid market messed up I turned off power and restarted then it was fine.

I'm at base zero via your post, followed by a wipe to ensure that I killed root so I can possibly return the phone later today, lol. I'm seriously disturbed by this. Would be happy to try any possible fixes though.

Go do Settings - > Privacy -> Reset Factory Default (something like that).
It's different than a recovery wipe, this will rebuild /dbdata.
I betcha one whole dollar that fixes it. Unless you already did that. In which case I do not bet you one dollar.

I have honestly tried every possible combination of fix I can think of to do. I don't know what got borked, but to be completely honest, I can't swear I had paid market from the get on mine. I am just pretty sure I did.

[Q] Touch Screen Half Responsive?

Okay, so I've been using my Eris for months now with no problems. Development has gone fine aswell - rooted to 2.1, installed a ROM or two, and most recently got ahold of 2.2 for my enjoyment (KaosFroyo).
Well, actually, all I remember from the time was that my phone was at 11%, and I had locked it and put it down. Upon picking it up, I couldn't unlock it. But the other side of the screen, the one to switch it to silent, went about half way over and stopped. I posted the same problem in the KaosFroyo thread for help too, so.
I've tried doing restores with Clockwork with no luck. I'm just confused as to why it was so sudden. And if it's physical for some reason, I'm gonna' have trouble finding $90 for ****-surion to replace my phone.
Unfortunately, clockwork recovery can potentially mess up the Eris very badly. Idk why but it doesn't work well with this phone. Maybe try flashing a different recovery, wipe, and flash Rom again?

Lol don't worry about it, I lurked for quite a while before I learned how to do the things I wanted. Do you have the app Rom manager on your phone?
Sent from my Eris
If you do (cause it puts clockwork on your phone) then you have the option to flash to an alternate recovery through the app. It's called amon ra 1.6.2 (numbers aren't exact lol) and requires no restart. If you don't have Rom manager, then search the Eris development subforum for the guide on how to safely flash from clockwork to amon ra. Hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to pm me at anytime. I'm on a lot lol
Sent from my Eris
Well, I've used AR Recovery before, I just wasn't sure if there were any other/better ones. Obviously not Clockwork.
I successfully went back to AR Recovery using the guide I found on the forum.
Wiped data and dalvik.
Reflashed KaoFroyo v30.
Aaand... still no functionality on the left side. DAMN IT.
Any other suggestions? I mean, I could always go back to the stock 2.1 and take it back to VZW. Not that I really want to, but I can only assume it's hardware now.
Try reflashing a rom that hasn't caused you problems. If that doesn't work unroot and get a new phone. I don't know why you'd have to pay when it's a hardware issue that's the company's fault but whatever that's almost definitely the only thing you can do.

Yeah, I agree. I've already gone back to stock 1.5, and am currently awaiting a trip to the Verizon store to return it. Hopefully they don't play it off as physical damage and make me pay for it. <.< Kind of unfortunate though - I was on a roll.

Is Android Market Down or is Kb1 causing this?

I can't download anything from Android Market. Anyone else having issues right now?
I wonder if it's android market or if it was caused by flashing KB1.

Yeah its a google problem not your phone, same thing happened to me and i thought it was my phone, but i just left it alone for awhile and tried to download an app. It was fine then , but now 2nd time happening again :/
EDIT: I am :/
EDIT2: working for me now.
You have no idea how happy I am that I just found this thread... I thought I had messed up my phone while theming it. What a relief...
Anyway, looks to be the market that is causing it since so many have the problem.

Its sad but I am so glad other people are having this issue. I hate odining to stock for no good reason. Thanks for letting us know.
It's working for me again!
I never had a drop, but @andronica tweeted it's hearing a lot of complaints about it being down. Also alluded to honeycomb, I think because of the announcement tomorrow.
Seems like they must have fixed, it's up and working faster than ever now, hope it stays fixed!

[Q] Cannot enable WiFi

Hi there,
I have a T-Mobile Vibrant running CM7 stable. When I try to switch on the WiFi radio, it pauses for a moment, then just writes "error".
This also happened with the stock t-mobile ROM so it's not a CM issue.
Any ideas on what may be the problem? Do you think the actual hardware may be broken?
Cheers.
Reboot?
If that doesn't fix it then reflash

This happens on mine too. Wifi will take up to 30 seconds to turn on and then fail with Error. Sometimes I have to do it multiple times for it to work.
I also have messages (texts) that fail to send with full bars. Completely stock btw.

for you, sounds like you need to do an efs clear using odin. First, make a backup of your /efs contents (this will allow you to unlock your phone later and keep you IMEI). Then, odin to whatever build you want, but make sure you select the box "clear efs data". this should fix that.
As for the op, sounds like a hardware issue. You can try the clear efs data, but i doubt that will help. i'd suggest a warranty exchange.
Ive yet to do any rom flashing, ironically to prevent things like this from happening. I figure that an obvious problem such as consistant wifi failure would have been caught in Bell/Samsung testing. Would you stil recommend a reflash? Ive been on the latest froyo update ever since it came out. Maybe the upcoming gb will fix it.

i had 3 vibrants (tmo-us) that had faulty modems. it got to the point where i couldn't get anything from calls to texts (i don't have a data plan) until i restarted my phone, it would get stuck in between airplane mode on and off, and even after reboot i had usable signal for 3 minutes. it's part of hardware failure, and the best thing to do is use your warranty to get it fixed for free right now.
Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.
No vendor warranty I'm afraid -- I got the device off ebay (I knew about the issue, but thought it might be software-related).
Is this something I could get fix in a lab, you think? Or only by Samsung?

Oooohhhh.... heimdall. I don't use it and I don't think heimdall has clear efs option.
But jfd is the stock build with all the basic info needed for your phones to come back from different filesystems. There are a lot of tutorials/links around here to help you out with that though.

Can't format, tons of apps crashing.

So... I have FJ Mod on my note. Things have been running great for a long time. Then a few days a go, out of the blue, google voice was constantly crashing. Then the gapps process. Then it got ridiculous and everything would crash. Then I noticed that when I restart, it saves nothing that I had done. For instance, my call log, text messages, moved icons on my homepage.
I did a wipe in CWM, and everything came back the exact same. Still the same problem, icons still in the wrong place... no idea whats going on.
Has anyone got any advice for me? I was going to try and put a new ROM on later if worse comes to worse, but as is, this is very frustrating. I often have to restart my phone just to use the browser, or message, or anything really. I am just hoping that my internal SD isn't screwed some how and now allowing me to write to it. I haven't done any changes. I don't even believe I have downloaded any apps since a week or so prior to this issue.
Flashing with ODIN did not good either. I tried to revert back to stock. It uploaded with no issues apparently, and then when it rebooted I was back in ICS with everything as it was... argh.
Find one of the the ics leaka one click Odin packages and run that. Should wipe everything, and then you just have to flash cwm and root again.

Well, I tried something similar with a rogers stock rom. Booted up Odin, connected to issues. Uploaded/transferred no issues. Figured I'd be on stock Gingerbread upon bootup, but it was ICS! I had the EXACT problem, out of the blue as well. I didn't have the other stated problems in your OP but I did have the one quoted above. First voice , then a few google apps(gmail, drive, etc). The apps would hang for a few 1-2 minutes (felt like hours) and the phone including capacitive buttons became unresponsive and couldn't do anything with the phone. The "wait" or "ok" buttons on the force close popup were not clickable.. It sorted itself out in a few days and boy did it drive me NUTS. I was afraid to post up here in fear people would think I was nuts and did something myself to make things go so awry. LOL I actually waited a few days before posting here too. I was hoping that maybe uninstalling and reinstalling some, or updated, or clearing cache and all that would help. As you can see, it did nothing. Heck, after I restart my updates didnt even stick and Google Play is trying to download them again!
Well... still no luck.
Here is another thing I noticed. When I hook up the note to my PC, and look at it, I cannot access my external SD. Furthermore, I had a file on my internal SD that I deleted. When I restarted my phone the file was back. Yet in windows it removed without error. I have no idea what is happening at all.
And now its reading it again........ Ive literally been sitting here trying a bunch of different ways to fix this. Playing around in CWM, trying ODIN including a couple 1 click solutions. The one starts writing to NAND, then stops and gives me an error.
Try taking out your sd card and running it for a while. First note i got was acting that way from the get go. Took it back and got a new one. It started doing the same thing. Finally took out sd card and ran great. Card was going bad. I had replaced the 8 gb stock card with the 16 gb one i had in another phone and apparently the mote didn't like it.

Did you, by any chance, install a custom kernal? IIRC, one of them messed with the mount points. By far, the only way to fix your issue immediately will involve restoring to stock through ODIN, then rerooting and reflashing CWM. This will 100% mark your Note as either defective, or prove that it's a problem in another area. However, I don't believe your problem is with your SD Card, unless you've been using an app like apps2sd.
If you're weary about doing this, try to reflash CWM, or TWRP to figure out if it's something going on with the recovery partition and/or settings. I'm no expert, but the only thing I'm aware of that sticks around through a wipe, and multiple flashes are our recovery, our internal SD files (possible), and sometimes the modem. Also, the one click leaks include a not loader, which could prevent you from restoring a GB Nandroid.
By flashing CWM, then TWRP, then CWM again, or sticking with TWRP, you at least knock out one variable...and by reformatting your internal SD, you ensure no resources are sticking around.
Edit:are you using TiBu to backup and restore/migrate after a flash? Verify your backups under the batch lost.
What could be happening, is you're restoring data in CWM, or TiBu, or w/e ap you're using, and then the Google account sync restore is restoring your settings, and replacing the desired ones, or vice versa.
Edit again: Which launcher are you using? Which utilities do you use? What are your main root apps?
The backup verify is a must...but some launchers will scoot icons out of the way. If you're having a touch screen issue, or an S Pen issue, you could be draggn items around when you're not aware of it.
I'll see this through. You've caught my interest.

Also, tap USB utilities in settings, by the other FJ mods, and tap the selection there, then check to see if you can find your SD card through your PC.
In addition to the above, you can also enter the "Tools" section of FJmods, and disable ad blocking, remove touchwiz UI, s voice, etcetera, and return ALL settings too default, and remove all extras. You can reflash recovery there too.

I had installed a custom kernel on Gingerbread before, but obviously that was replaced with the one I used with FJmod. It had been operating fine for over a month.
Also, I removed my SD Card, and tried everything without it. I have tried restoring gingerbread stock and ICS stock through both ODIN and CWM. Even formatting through CWM does nothing as when I restart I am back to normal.
As for root, I only had 2-3 programs with access. ES File Manager/Task manager, and I tried one called Lucky Patcher (I will verify this evening). All of these had been on for at least a week prior to all this beginning.
I havent been using TiBu for anything at all actually.
The launcher I am using at the moment is Nova.
Other than that, I am going to try a few of your suggestions once I am done work. I will post my results tonight!
Thanks for the suggestions and info, greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Just to be clear. I am formatting then restarting and all my apps, icon placements and wallpaper return. Even my call history is stuck up to the 13th and erases recent calls. I am also trying to revert to stock ICS and Gingerbread through both ODIN and CWM. After it is done installing through ODIN and reboots, I return to the way my phone was before. Same with CWM. After flashing through CWM I return right back to the way it was. I am not doing any restoring or anything. I have done this plenty of times in the past before. The only thing I can possibly imagine at this point is that my SD is somehow stuck on read only. Yet it is weird because again, I can delete files and apps (and even windows shows them as gone), but after a restart they are all back! I can remove apps, but they are still in the app menu too.... I can even run them lol (even after deleting their folder). The phone is stuck in stasis.
All of this just happened one day out of the blue. No new apps (for at least a week) too.
I have a GTab that had the EXACT same symptoms.. turns out it's internal flash memory was bad, not the microSD. going for broke I opened it up and desoldered the flash memory IC and it uses the microSD now as its primary storage. If even after a stock reflash you have problems I hope you have warranty.

Great... lol! I have a warranty, but no one will work with it due to the fact I have a custom rom. Am I maybe contacting the wrong people? I contacted Rogers and they said they couldn't help me. No stock Odin for your phone? I would attempt this to be absolutely sure the problem isn't software related.. they should warranty hardware faults.

No sir. I tried stock gingerbread and ics. I've tried custom roms. I've tried just erasing it too! Tried Odin and CWM. I am going to try and change recovery today again too.
Rogers said they won't help. They used the word "launcher" but I knew what he meant. They think I may have overclocked it any burnt it out I bet. Maybe I will try calling samsung.
Thing is, all my private info is on there! At least no private pics though

If your have insurance, and it turns out the phone was physically damaged , you could try making a claim....but that's only if it was physically damaged. So you restored stock through odin? Did this happen on the stock unrooted rom?

Well its currently stuck on FJ Mod (which I think is a great rom), and then it just started acting up. I cannot restore Gingerbread stock, or ICS stock, or anything else. ODIN and CWM both show completed on my attempts, but upon reboot my device is back exactly where it left off on the 13th.
I picked up the S3 and I like it, but I miss my note badly

[Q] HELP! My phone wont let me do anything

After scouring for two days I am just giving up and asking for help. Here is what happened. I have a At&t Galaxy Note. It was rooted but very glitchy. Kept shutting off, weird lines going through the screen, my camera didnt work. I know for that process I did TWRP and cyanogenmod. I went back to att stock from a forum found here. After I did that I had no google apps anywhere. SO my brother found some gapps.zip thing. He put it on my phone after I had restored back to a previous version that did have them. Now my phone wont stay on for longer than a minute. I cant get it to recognize on my computer. So I cant even try to get into it to see if I can fix anything. Everytime I conntect it, a message pops up that says that it cannot install MTP... Even if I restore again, as I have tried. It is still not letting me use it. Then my brother decided to re root it I guess. And that is all well and fine but i still cant use my phone. I saw something about a .zip that removes gapps but I havent been able to use that as my phone just wont install it in recovery mode. Can someone please please help me!!!!

wow. the first few sentences were making sense, then you just lost it grammar wise and lost me. it would have helped knowing what ROM was on your phone. from symptoms it sounds as if t was a 4.2 ROM with no GAPPS and some serious OC/UV issues.
but you lost me with your English and the "TWRP and CYANOGENMOD thingy" i know what they are obviously, but what you did with them is a HUGE guessing game. one person not knowing what they are doing is bad enough, but two of you.......... cant do that man. kind of like masturbating with someone elses hand man. who cleans up the mess.
absolute clean slate is going to be you best option in my opinion. the "Super Everything Thread" is going to be your new best friend.
read it, live it, learn it......................understand it. put yourself in position to help yourself first.
tutorals on YOUTUBE can help too.
can you get DOWNLOAD MODE?
do you have ODIN?
do you have PDA/ TAR files you need?
you may need to re-install the DRIVERS for phone on computer
there is a glossary in Super thread, that is why i capped these words. key points and things you need to do. its a marathon not a sprint.
go slow, one step at time, understand what you are doing. even rehearse it, i did. be confident in what you are doing. make sure you have files for I717.
read the OP's for ROM's
some need GAPPS (4.2) and some don't (4.1.2) or Touchwiz
the new 4.3 will also need GAPPS and there are 4.2 and 4.3 GAPPS. again make sure you have right files. all the more reason to take your time.
and uh, don't just let someone flash whatever on your phone, that's how you get a BRICK.
good luck and let us know.
if i have stated anything wrong, someone else will be buy to correct.
nothing wrong with how i am telling, others just may have shortcuts.
what you do with it is up to you, i just like to understand what i am doing, cause i will have to fix it.
but keep us posted

Im sorry, Im just really frustrated. My phone was working fine yesterday and now its a very expensive paperweight. And not only that but Im having problems with my laptop. Apparently the hard drive just went clonkers for no reason and now I have to put in a new one. Yes I can get into download mode. Yes I have Odin. Yes I have the PDA/TAR files. I made sure everything was for the sgh i717. I read each process ten times before I did it. I installed my drivers from the Samsung website. I think my problem is that the internal sd card isnt being recognized. When I go into recovery mode, which is CMW btw, it gives me an eemc 07 error message and says it cant mount. When I can get my phone to stay on long enough for thecpu to recognize it it doesnt say sd card just phone memory. I will be sure to read the super everything thread. As for a ROM there isnt one on here. If I try to put one one it wont install and keeps saying that eemc 07 error message. Thanks for responding. Im spiraling in self-pity right now but im determined to get my phone back.
If you get it back to stock, do a complete erase/format, and your still having all these glitches, there's a good chance there's hardware issues. Especially if your not able to see the external SD card etc.
If your the original owner (I.E. you got it from a dealer with a plan), and you can get your counter reset to 0 on stock with these issues still showing up, it might be easiest to take it in and get a replacement. That is, if you have a warranty option available.

Its not the external sd but the internal one. Its just gone... I know that this is the problem at this point. But I have no idea how to resolve that issue. I have no idea where it is or how to get it back. I have been on xda and droidforums for an extreme amount of time trying to find a solution but nothing going. The only way I have seen to reset my counter is to use triangle away. As I cannot even use my phone due to freezing and restarting I cannot even install that app. I am hoping that one person in the wide world has had this problem and fixed it and will read this and tell me how to fix it.
Status 7 means you need to update you recovery

so where are you at then?
what does your phone show as running?
settings/about phone
are you just going to leave it or are you still going to pursue customizing?

I'm running 4.1.2 now. I will not be customizing like that for some time. I might think about it later but I'm so glad to have it back I'm just going to enjoy it for awhile.

you know, something going wrong with mine was my biggest worry. when I decide to screw something up, I can really screw something up. so I was very hesitant. it probably took me 2-3 months to get the courage to flash. but that was most likely a good thing. it made me be very thorough in the process.
all I am saying is don't let it completely discourage you. you have time.
glad you got phone back, I know it can be a bit of a scary thing. I have come across an issue or two myself and actually surprised myself by fixing myself. actually a pretty good feeling.
anyway, stick around, there are some pretty amazing folks here.
