[q] boot screen - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what folder does a boot screen zip (not an animation) get placed in to work. tried it in data/local and no luck.

If it is the splash screen or boot screen (like the 3 little green droids) and not the animation, it will not be in a zip form nor be installed in the system/media folder. You will need to convert a pic to RGB565 form and flash it through the fastboot mode. Easiest way is to use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654042

fastboot flash logo *.bin

or Make a CWM Recovery zip and flash it.
Special thanks to thewarhawk, NFHimself, Ka4yan and Devbro. you guys made it a hell lot easier! Does anyone know how to remove the text "unlocked" from the boot screen??
Standard Disclaimer: Don't telegraph me if your device is bricked!
thx .i gonna try it
thanks more to come!!!
Not to be a stickler, but shouldn't the fastboot command be "fastboot flash boot <filename>.bin" ?
I might be wrong but I thought fastboot commands run on the structure of
fastboot flash <partition> [ <filename> ]
Again, correct me if I'm wrong, I just don't want anyone to be confused (as I am obviously )
EDIT: Nevermind, is "logo" the partition? If it is, my bad.
well...we are not dealing with boot image, but just boot logo ! you are right if we are flashing a new boot image to our device, might be like this
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and recovery, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
it clearly specifies the partition! but here we flash the logo, boot logo! correct me if im wrong!
edit: yea yea sounds like partition!! though its just logo
Well, it seems no one is having any issues so more than likely you are right.
I'm definitely no expert.

Phone shows new boot logo for a second then reverts to stock?

Just went through the adb process and added param.lfs to the phone, then pushed my new logo to the phone and works fine. But when it reboots, it only shows my new image for about a second then reverts to the stock image. Strange because that stock image doesn't exist in the directory where it reads the boot image (maybe it is in a temp directory) so I will have to push the modded image to that temp directory, anybody have any ideas that can help me? Thanks.
I'm assuming you replaced the boot logo in the param.lfs? The second "stock" may be the kernel boot image.

I think I should tell you that before I added the param.lfs thing, adb detected my device in download mode and it worked fine. However, after I rebooted it to download mode, adb didn't detect the device. I was instructed to push the new image after adding param.lfs, but since adb didn't detect it in download mode, I could only push it when the device was on.

[BOOT ANIMATIONS & SPLASH SCREENS] Custom Made (Updated 4/28)

Hello Everybody!
I made some custom boot animations out of gifs and thought I would share for anyone that might be interested.
These animations are from gifs and are not in HD. Some of them do not fill the screen!
Installation
I made these with Venom Rom in mind. For Venom users:
Place the zip anywhere on your sdcard
Go to Venom Tweaks
In the advanced tab at the bottom is an option for custom boot animations. Select this and choose your file.
Reboot and enjoy
For non-Venom users check installation intructions:

Boot animation changed to google How to revert back to stock boot animation?

I installed Pixel Rom and when i reverted back to miui the boot animation is still that of pixel rom... How do i get stock boot animation back
Question is how you restored MIUI, if you flashed in EDL mode, you should have stock boot animation.
Attached is the stock boot animation from xiaomi.eu rom. Should be the same version.
Instructions: -
copy the boot animation zip to internal
then paste it on system/media/
give rw-r-r permission
Check the Themes and apps thread for other boot animation options.
Edit: Make sure your MIUI Theme does not have a custom boot animation.
Edit 2: Some people go out of there way to add that splash screen and boot animation.
From your post I just changed mine to Black Version of google splash + pixel animation.
I think you mean splash image.
use splash.img from miui and enter below command in fastboot
fastboot flash splash splash.img

Click to collapse
splash.img
