[THEME] TouchWizColor - adding a little bit of color to your Wiz (Work in Progress) - Vibrant Themes and Apps

This will become my new theme, but for the meantime its simply my green segmented battery mod with a few modifications (thanks s0niqu3 for the original images!)
For the meantime, enjoy this simple theme that combines the segmented green battery mod, colored signal bars, WiFi, alarm clock, and a few other random ones. Currently, this is nothing more than a modification of s0niqu3's Stock i9000 theme for Eugene's FrankinWiz, so huge thanks to her for the base to start with (Link to s0niqu3's Original Thread)
This theme is currently only available for Eugene's FrankinWiz Update3 (although I think update 1 & 2 will work), as thats what I'm currently using. Please let me know if there are any issues

Enjoy!

Hey that is kinda colorful.

Actually this is what I was looking for but with bionix 1.3
I love the black dropdown bar and such but wanted colored notification icons. Anyway to make a metamorph for bionix? If not I can TRY and move the icons manually but with the bionix build I have found that for some reason moving icons break market.

Hi,
I'm not sure why you have issues moving icons with the bionix rom's, it works fine for me, I'm running my own mods on a custom version of bionix 1.3 I made for myself. Lame reason to switch from the frankin-twiz roms but the cell standby issue requiring the JI2 modem to be "fixed" and the signal bars always displaying full or zero, was a deal-breaker for me in the end.
I know you sent me a PM about market errors and other stuff, and I used to get FC errors in market even on stock, did you try going into /settings/applications/manage applications and "uninstalling updates" to market? that fixes 99% of the FC errors I've ever had with market.
Anyway, hope you get it figured out, cheers.

I just saw your reply and TY. There was indeed a market update which I had removed, as I suspected as much but that didn't help. The main difference I see with your screen shots and what I am working with is a different battery mod (shouldn't matter) and that I am using bionix's original black mod so my dropdown and notification bar are black. Tonight I will try with the 7zip (though winrar has worked in the past) and try injecting just a few of these new colored icons and see if I can do it little by little.
The only other thing I can think of is how I am adding the mods. Again this has worked in the past but I simply modify the framework-res.apk file then adb it onto the phone and reboot (not sure if i even have to reboot but i do)

Hi again,
Sorry the market update didn't solve your problems, I hate when there's no clear path to debug/troubleshoot problems.
Anyway, your method sounds right for modifying the framework-res.apk, though once I reboot, I go into clockwork, and clear the cache and dalvik-cache after every new mod too.
I forgot with my mod, btw, I started from Bionix 1.3, then modded files inside his "stock twiz look" zip file for my mod, since I think generally touchwiz is attractive graphically, once you remove our stupid custom vibrant glossy version, lol.
Hope you get it sorted, and btw, it looks like the color changing for at least Gmail is handled by one of the layout xml files, conversation_list_activity.xml, though I'm just going on how other skins have changed the color, haven't had time to try modding it myself yet.
Cheers

I use basically the same thing on my stock rom. Only difference is I don't like circular battery indicators, so I just use the normal 100-segment one that s0niqu3 modified to work on JI2. The color on the status bar is greatly needed, and very appreciated.

It's tested and working. It will give you a few warnings about copying files, don't worry about it, the only thing it's copying is the original APK's from WesGarner's vibrant dump. If you're using the TouchWiz launcher, you'll have to use the same trick to get messaging back into the dock again.
I cant get this to work lol. metamorph just says applying and never stops.

Make sure you're running the newest free version. Stericson only added support last night, and hasn't moved it over to the paid version yet.
Im using 1.9.8.12, I had just downloaded it from the market. In the market it says its version 1.9.13
Strange. It takes a while to apply, but it does work. I just reinstalled it to make sure. Make sure to leave it be while it runs, after a bit it should soft reset with the theme applied.
Worked great on the second try.... nice change...
No clue guys. It's worked multiple times on my phone, and that's the only thing I have to test it with.
Does it matter which version of busy box I have installed? Its been applying now for at least 5 minutes.

Could be that. I'm running the version that came with the SGH-959 Root Update.zip.
do you know how to change the text color in a MM file? My white bar mod has white text...
Well I tried the old busy box and it still doesn't work lol
Don't have much luck opening Metamorph. Keep getting an fc.

Thanks a million, that touchwiz ui was killing me. This is making me feel more at home. I cant wait for the dialer/messaging app icons to get back to stock android lol, those are killing me! Thanks once again, great work
Crazy that it's working for some people but not others. As for the text color, that will require some XML edits, which I haven't ever figured out how to do, and I've been theming since the early days of the G1.
Looks good. Where did you get that wallpaper? Or is it part of the theme package?
Edit: never mind, I downloaded zedge from the marketplace and found it. Damn does this screen look good.
I have the same problem. MM doesn't seem to be recognizing the files. It will see all of the folders but when I go into the folder with the MM file it shows as nothing being in there.
And I noticed something. I got the free version from the market. It said it was version 1.9.14 but when the app is open it says it's version 1.9.8.13. Could this have something to do with it?
Decided to try this again and I figured out the problem. You have to have usb-debugging enabled for it to work. Thanks for the theme, I hated the samsung 3g/edge icon!
Just did mine
downloaded the free version, unzipped the evo_black zip and it ran for about 4 mins, soft reset and its done.
now I don't have to hide my status bar
just installed this on my Vibrant. OEM 2.1 with Superuser, MetaMorph Free v.1.9.8.13.
install process showed "applying" and just kept going, then screen blacked out and didnt recover. did a forced reboot and it came up installed with no issues.
looks great! a huge improvement over the stock notifications bar, imo. thanks much and i look forward to your planned icon updates in the near future.
This is nice, I like it

Looks cool. I did 1.2 and it I guess does not have the cool background over the 4 shortcuts in the drop down.
Looks good, about to run it on my international Galaxy S, will let you guys know how it goes.
Same issue of framework-res.apk hanging, but everything else seems to be running fine.
I saw you m mentioned black apps metamorph... Is that a theme from the market or something?
Pooped from my Samsung Vibrant using XDA app...
Dont mind the skidmarks...

how long does the install take for everyone... mine hangs for quite a long time, and i usually pull the battery...
^^ correct, that is what I did... It's a shame, this theme looks sexy.
Will have to flash back to stock if coming from my morphs I guess.... And delete all the battery Icons if you have a segmented battery animation...
Not sure why this isn't working for any of you guys. Both versions flashed for me on the first time without a problem. I am using Vibrant7 now.
Though I have noticed a few things that might cause problems with installing any metamorphs and here are a few of them...
1. Lag fixes...For some reason with some of the lag fixes I have noticed that metamoprhs no matter how many times you try don't apply like they should. So if this is the case for your lag fix the solution is simply to apply the metamorph before you apply the lag fix, and then it will carry over with your lag fix. Just make sure you get it right before you apply the lag fix or else you'll have to redo everything again.
2. Turn on USB debugging...sometimes this causes metamorph to freeze up if it is not on.
For those of you just looking for the icons and all black bar I have made a mash up of this Minimal theme and Black bar Gloss theme because it has more of the framework mapped at this point. It seems the update zip will flash correctly regardless of any lag fixes that may cause interruption in Metamorphs. So I use
the zip each time I wanna make any modifications and just add the edits into it.
I made 2 flasheable versions with Fightspit's Super Circle Battery version E and an accurate battery mode i made for the Captivate if someone wants to try and make versions for the Vibrant would be nice since i'm not sure if i will have the time to do it because of a hurricane and storm alert was announced for the up coming days.

doubt it's cause the lagfix because I have the same issue, and I haven't applied the lagfix ever.

Along with the system theme, I have made a launcherpro dock and icons
Eventually I plan on making an ADW theme as well, but the dock design isn't final yet.
I have tested this on Onyx 4.2 and it works perfectly I still don't know how well it plays with the stock JK2 leak, so if anyone wants to test it that would be sweet.
To install this theme just download the .zip file and flash it through clockwork recovery. The launcher .zip shoul be downloaded then unzipped and applied to Launcherpro

Hi,
To change the text color you need to decompile framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk using apktool or apk manager (or something similar) then look in the /res/layout folders for status_bar_xxxx.xml files.
Then basically have fun experimenting with changing anything that says android:textColor="#ffxxxxxx" to whatever you want. Note that its aarrggbb format, so your best bet is to leave the first two characters (the alpha channel) alone, keep them ff, then change the next 6 to change the color.
Hope this helps, cheers, =)

Wow this really looks great.
the bottom of the notification pull-down looks jagged in the screenshots. Does it looks like that on the phone as well? Any chance of reverting back to a "bar" type pull-down? It might look a little cleaner...
should one disable OCLF before flashing this? amd what if one were to flash the blue segmented battery on top of this? would it cause any conflicts?
Works good on obsidian v2 also. Liking the dark n neon green. Question when u go to settings I can't change the lock screen. I'm wondering if you can include an option for different lock screens? Thanks

Awesome look! You did a great job on this and I think I'll load it onto mine tonight.
I have loved the look of this since the first time I saw it in the Screenshots thread. I was hoping you would at least share how you did it, but even better you created a theme for us. I just want to say excellent job to you and everyone else that has been able to figure all of this out.
My only question is, would it be possible to have you list what issues you are aware of with this theme? I really want to load it but I am not sure if the known issues are things I can just manually fix, things you just didn't theme yet, or items that are non-fuctional. Again great work either way and thank you for sharing it with all of us!!
Nice work. Will it be possible to make the notification bar black or dark blue instead of grey?

There aren't any functional issues with this theme, there is just some mismatched coloring with menu icons, etc. The version I posted is stable and should cause no issues that I am aware of.

That usually depends on your roms theme I think
Sent from my TBolt using my f**king thumbs...
Yep, part of the theme. If you open up a Tmo theme engine apk you'll notice "frameworks_res_text_select..." pngs which are the bounding arrows then there should be an xml indicating the highlight color.
If you just want to swap out the ones you currently have instead of applying a theme, they're located in /system/framework/framework-res.apk named "text_select_handle...". Find a theme with the color you want and swap away.

thanks for the info.
I'm currently running the basic GB debloat. I've looked in the
framework-res.apk but I didn't see the stock icons. So I then
looked in the htc.resources.apk and I found them:
- text_anchor_bar.png
- text_anchor_bar_top.png
So i used ninjamorph to replace those 2 pngs but it still shows
the stock icons :/
any idea where else those icons could be?
I just downloaded the GB debloat from here to check (i assume that's the one you're on).
As I mentioned, they're in /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi and they're named "text_select_handle...".
Also, remember to reboot after changing to see the effects.

yup that is the one
Yes i did look I did find that folder earlier:
/system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi
the thing is it already has those orange icons in there below
however it still continues to show the top green/black ones.
ah, I get what you're saying now. Yea, sense uses those custom ones from htc.resources. I don't mess with sense roms any but I'm pretty sure replacing the green ones like you did with ninjamorph then finishing the project and rebooting should have worked.
You might also want to try deleting those files and see if it falls back to the ones in framework (not sure if that will work but easy to try). As I said, I don't mess with sense roms so I'm not completely sure. Maybe someone that themes sense roms can help you more.

cool thanks for confirming for me. obviously we were on the same
page lol because I just did both of the above before i read this
- deleting the stock green icons, ended up crashing the mail/msg apps.
I was unable to even open either of the 2.
- i then used ninjamorph to replace the stock green ones
in htc.resources. even resized them to match.
but they reverted back to the original ones after reboot lol.
thanks again for your help @absolute
