After you installed Kies did it say that Kies had an update and proceed to update itself before updating the phone software???
what is the ''kies'' you guys speak of?
Kies is a software tool from Samsung for working with your phone. It is not released to the US market yet but you can download it for another country.

PHONE:KE2
CSC:KE2(INU) Indian version
new update has
PDA:KE3
PHONE:KE4
CSC:KE3(INU)
but when download complete via kies , it not abe to update as it says failed to convert in upgrade mode. any one having same issue? any one has here offcial indian version upgrade ? please provide me link for offcial rom for this update.
i have the same problem
first go to the firewall and make kies connect to net
and when you start kies start as administration "right click and run as administration"
or you can update through odin.

You need to make sure that usb debugging is off. That being said, Kies sucks big time. If you want to use Kies try the wireless version seems to be a bit better.
There's a update to Kies available. I went to use it last night & a big update came through ?
Phone not syncing to kies in the 1st place!!
My phone doesn't want to connect to kies, it's written connected on the phone but still gives the connecting to device msg on kies on the PC, kept waiting and waiting, but nothing!
I tried with usb debugging method, the storage medium could be read. But no way with Kies!!!
What's wrong?? Please advice me what to do?

As has been suggested try the wireless version also make sure the phone is connected before you open Kies.
Is there some setting in your phone preventing Kies from connecting.
I've only got my S2 a few days so I'm not really into it yet.
I find that Kies is very very slow in connecting.Seems to take forever but it was quite fast over Bluetooth.
I'm also havin same problem but in my case I cant upgrade firmware via Wifi...
Actually I lost my data cable (though ordered a new one today) but yesterdar a new version of kies came and when connected via wifi ... the upgrade firmware window popped up...
but when I tried upgrading it downloaded some components (Preparing firmware ...) and then on my phone I saw tht its already disconnected n after a few sec an error came up (in kies) saying "FirmwareUpdate has stopped working" .... Interestingly kies application keeps running after this error but disconnected... I've google a lot on this but no luck (I thnk most of d ppl pref to upgrade it via usb and not wifi) ...
Also tried reinstalling kies and "factory reset" phone but no avail.
Plz help as i deadly need this upgrade (as my battery's draining very heavily on wifi.. may be this upgrade improves smthng... )
Hi, since this morning after update of Kies i cant conect my SGS2, the windows find it (cause i can transfer files from phone and SD) but Kies said "cant iniate service on the phone", anyone getting this issue after update ? Thx?

uninstall kies and reinstall.
Just tried that whit no sucess.
Try to Reboot the phone

Had the exact same problem after installing the latest Kies version 2.0.2.
I just disconnected the USB , then did a reboot. It worked.
U could also try reinstalling the drivers. Tools -> Install driver
Since I updated Kies my phone isn't supported for firmware upgrades anymore. I have the DBT german stock Rom whenever I start Kies and connect my phone it's recognized but Kies tells me that it's "not supported for firmware upgrade".
Any ideas or help please?

problem with kies
Had this problem as well,but have now sorted it out..first uninstall kies and and the drivers folder which is separate to keis.. then go to samsung site for sg2, and down load kies from there, when you have reinstalled kies, then plug the usb
lead into your phone and it will reload the drivers, it solved the problem for me. .
I have an ace bought from abroad and wanted to update via kies. Whenever I plug in my ace kies says that this device is not supported for update. The fw vision is 2.2.1
Can anyone inform how can I make kies to accept my device for update ?
Flash your phone to another stock rom using Odin, you don't have to use Kies.
I use Mac and it is not possible or problematic to use Odin for updates. I just wanted to know why kies refuses or does not update abroad device.
I have a Samsung S2 (UK version), which is running perfectly. But whenever I check for updates on the phone, I get a "Connection failed" message. This always happen. But I have no connection problems. I presume that this phone simply does not update OTA?
I think that you are meant to use Samsung Kies to update the phone? I have downloaded and installed this software on my laptop, which runs Windows 8 Developer Preview. But Kies will not run. When I try, I get a "Kies has stopped working" error message. This happens every time. I have tried running this application in various compatibility modes.It never works. I presume that Kies does not work with Windows 8?
Assuming both of my presumptions are correct, is there any way that I can check for updates for my phone?
Stock Firmware + Root + Mobile Odin.
I too have a Samsung GS2 (unlocked, unrooted, Carphone Warehouse UK version). When I am connected by wireless to my router I have no trouble connecting to the server but so far all I get is, "No update available" which is correct as I have 2.3.4 installed and 2.3.5 isn't officially available for CPW GS2 yet.

Maybe depend s OTA updates are slowly rolling out you have to try .
Their is no a single UK product they are often network supplied and networks do not always update .

Kies will give you an update if their is an update for your product code .

My reply was to inform you that I DO get connected and get a reply from Samsung server therefore your assumption that the GS2 cannot get OTA updates because your 'phone doesn't connect does not follow. The fact that the reply from Samsung server says, "No update available" doesn't necessarily mean that OTA updates cannot be had, only that at that time of asking there wasn't any to be had.
You also asked, "is there any way that I can check for updates for my phone?"

EDIT: To be clear, I am not saying that all updates WILL be available OTA just that OTA updates are possible with GS2.

Never heard that it does as you are the first Win 8 + Kies poster i would guess not .

i am happy to confirm that windows 8 developers release does nor support Samsung Kies.
There is a message whenever i connect the mobile phone and search for updates by Samsung Kies
the message says (The device does not support receiving software updates)
what is the Problem?
How to solve this problem?
ps. I already install and usinstall kies still the same.(asian stock firmware)
Kies on Windows or Mac Osx????
Ignore the message and wait for an update to be available for your phone .
Do not expect an update for your individual phone to be available if no update has been released for your phone product code etc .
