[Q] Best way to merge back the ".apk" and ".odex" files to be 1 ".apk" file - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

[Q] Best way to merge back the ".apk" and ".odex" files to be 1 ".apk" file
Hey everyone,
I am seeking some help for some way to get the 2 files of .apk and .odex to get back to their original state of only one install-able package .apk file..
I tried the "de-odexing" method of the Android Kitchen, but it didnt seem to be working fine. Error message of "There is a problem prasing the package."
Any other ideas how I can extract a single application from Stock or Customized ROM?
I need this help for building a rom that supports multi languages that comes with Market installed within it and having root access.
Any help would be much appreciated!

It's the only way. You have to deodex the file. The error message "There is a problem prasing the package" is not a deodex message to the best of my recollection.

Sorry I didnt get what you mean completely.
What I have tried: I used kitchen to deodex the files, copied the .apk file to my phone, tried to install it. this error message shows up!
by the way, its the same message that shows if you copy the .apk file without the .obex file to the phone and try to install it..
Any help would be appreciated!

hmmm
I would like to bring back universal inbox (from froyo to CM7 nightly, Droid X) and a few other items
no go?

How to extract files from ROM

Hi,
As the new ICS 4.0.3 seems to have gotten rid of the libraries required for call recording, I am willing to extract the relevant libraries from a 2.3.6 ROM, replace and give it a shot. I already have a few of them with me, for example Official DXKL3.
I need to extract the following 3 files -
system/lib/libaudiopolicy.so
system/lib/libaudioflinger.so
system/lib/libaudio.so
How can I extract these files from a ROM?
On you pc or on you phone click extract here. And will be exctracted about 6 files. Navigate to system app and find wht app you want. Copy and replace. I guess I understood right what you mean.
Get a utility program like 7Zip, IZarc, WinRar on your PC & open up the zip/tarfile & you can see the individual files & extract same.
However...
What you're attempting to do will not work. Different framework.
Points for thinking outside the box tho.
Thanks... Though when I use 7z, it only extracts zImage, factoryfs, etc., only a handful of files. I cannot see the individual files in the file system. Also 7z cannot extract these files anymore...
Ahh I think I was talking about already "cooked" ROM, and you guys are talking about the source? Sorry I am very new to the terminologies used. If that is the case I will check if I can find these files in the source tarball.
Try another program if 7Zip doesn't work. Try IZarc. I can see every file in the roms I have with it.

go to application manager, find "browser", then clear the default and then download another browser like "Maxthon" which i use
Thank you, clearing "internet" app cache helped
After some checking, problem could be also using Directory Bind to mount download catalog, reason was to export all download files from internal sdcard (memory) to extsdcard.

Edit Custom Rom (help to remove apk's)

Does anyone know an idiot's guide/tool for unpacking a rom, removing unwanted apk's and then repackaging it suitably for install. I can unzip and remove the apk's from the system/app but the problem I have is zipping the package up suitably for install, I understand that the package needs to be signed and I have seen a few guides using openssl and SignAPK but couldn't get a package that would install.
I know I can uninstall some of these apps using an uninstaller app but I would prefer they just weren't in my rom in the first place so I have a relatively clean rom - my phone is basically a glorified mp3 player that occasionally makes some calls and send the odd text so there are a fair few things I just don't need to be installed on the phone.
On my mini pro I'm using the SonyStyle GB rom

Open the zip in something like 7-Zip or WinZip or windows or whatever the default archive manager is on linux, delete the files you want and close it then install. that's it, signing is done on creation by the dev and isn't like a MD5 so it doesn't matter if you modify it
X10man
what i do is i have winrar and i just double click the rom zip file then go to system then go to app then delete the app (and the odex file if it has one) that simple and if you want to add an app just hit add (provided your still on system>app folder) browse to the apk file you want to add then hit hit ok. hope that helps
Cheers guys - from what I had read I thought I had to re-sign the package once I had edited it.

Adobe reader app not running when zipped with custom rom on sgs3

HI,
I downloaded Adobe Reader apk and pasted in the /system/app folder.
Made a backup of the firmware using nandroid.
Copied the adobe Reader apk to /system/bin of the nandroid backup after using Android Kitchen.
Zipped the Rom and flashed it on the sgs3 phone.
All apps in /system/app work except for adobe reader apk.
The message being displayed is "Unfortunately,Adobe Reader has stopped"
Kindly help.
Thanks & Regards,
Milind
If apk has libs files in it. Paste them in /system/libs and set correct permissions
The error message is not coming but the app closes down without any warning

Hey jamal.. thanks for the insight. I tried copying the file in the /system/bin.
The error message is not coming now but theAdobe reader still doesn't open.
Any more clues? is it mandatory for the apk to have an odex file.
Also do we have to make any changes to settings if we have to put it in /system/app folder?
Opps: Copied the .so files in /system/lib

[Q] apk filetype not being recognized by APK OneClick

First off I will say this is the greatest tool I have ever came across and I am thankful for anyone that had hand in its production. The tool of course is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873466 and it has been working great for me. But earlier today I used winrar to open a com apk file and edit a specific txt file however I accidentally didn't un-click the "use as default program" box and now right-clicking and apk file will not display the decompile option or install to phone option any longer. I figured since the default program had been changed it was not being recognized by one click apk any longer so I deleted the default program for the apk file type in the registry and uninstalled then re installed the shellext for APK_OneClick however the right-click apk options still will not show. I can recompile folders to APKs but nothing else. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated and thanks in advanced it is driving me crazy.
I am assuming my problem is fro the whole winrar accident as the icon provided with OneClick no longer is displayed for apk files either I just can't solve the issue.
I have tried open file with whe right clicking apks and it will allow me to select the decompile file in the APK_OneClick folder manully but then after recompiling the disarm folder back into an APK it fails to install to the phone via USB and after moving it to the phone it has a parsing error. Any help on how to fix the right click problem or at least fix my parsing issue would be much appreciated. Thank you all!
