[Q]Ringtones dont play all the way. - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently running the most recent energy rom. My ringtones only play for like 2 seconds then stop, then repeats when someone is calling. I know it cant be the mp3 file itself because it fully plays in my media player. Anything I can do to fix this? Thanks.

Bump
I have the same problem with an SMS alert that is about 6 seconds long. Have tried putting the MP3 in phone memory and on storage card. Problem occurs on various ROMs (COM2, COM3 etc). Goes away for a short while after a soft reset.
Must admit, I haven't tried changing the file type to .wav or .wma to see if that helps yet.

I just solved it. I went over to "ring type" in the sound and display menu...it said "ring type: Currently set to: "Other". I changed mine to Ring and vibrate, and that fixed it.

.mp3 SMS Notification Issue

Hi guys,
Dont hate on me if it's been answered before, but I have a question that I would really like a straight answer to. Before I had my Raph, I was raised on Nokia's. In this instance, when I have a full .mp3 track as my message tone, it would play, then when the phone was activated (unlocked or msg read) the song would stop playing. I would like someone who has to knowledge to think of a way that this setting can be replicated on the Raph.
It is annoying to no end that the only tones I can get that don't play for +3mins are small, low volume chimes that I can't hear in the car, walking with the phone in my pocket etc.
If a fix could be found, can someone post a link OR explain how this can be done.
Thanks in advance.
have you tried convert the music file to .wav format instead of .mp3
Ok just confirming. I can get the .mp3 file to play as my message tone. But it will play start to finish. I want a fix or mod that will stop it playing once I have unlocked the phone or turned the screen back on.

That happens when you put them in your ringtone folder, have you tried to put them in the root of your sd card then selecting them in the notifications menu?
as far as I know there is no thing like that. BTW Welcome Fellow Nokia to TP USER. I also only was a Nokia person and decided to try something new. Sure this thing doesn't have as many cool things as my Nokia E62 but the customizing that can be done is fun as hell.
.WMA seems to be the preferred Ringtone format from what I am seeing in the file system - yes, it will work with other formats.
I haven't found a way to stop playback once it has started; seems like it has to go through to the end of the audio file.
a way 2 stop it is 2 press down on the d-pad, like the direction down. It will stop. I was having the same problem with my fuze.

sorry the player does not support this type of audio file

symptom 1 - I get the above error message every day when I try to play an audio file in the music player. It is not the fault of the music file and a reboot always cures it.
Whenever this happens I also get:
symptom 2 - All ring tones default to a horrible ringtone. When I go into the ringtone settings whatever I press it always plays the same horrible ringtone.
It is as if something is locking out the audio player or audio codecs or something. I am using the Modaco 3.0 ROM.
Has anyone else come across this or has any answers, please?
same issue... different device Archos 5 - Android 1.6
I have rigorously the same issue...
I do not kill any process, i just leave the device... and then it returns to the bip/bip alarm sounds and the music can not play... the same exact message...
and same when i reboot it works again...
I am looking for a solution... it is not that bad... though never sure if my alarm will ring... but it is annoying...
Hello!
I have the same issue, but I've detected that when I plug my phone to any
PC and activate the file transfer to the PC and later unplug the phone, if the file transfer mode
is not deactivated, the music player don't play music and my ringtones have reset to default.
As a conclusion, in some way when the phone is unplugged suddenly with
file transfer mode activated, the system cannot access to the mp3 files
in the SD card and it just come back to normal when I unmount and remount
the SD.
I hope that it can help with your issues.
I believe you are correct on this issue virulento. I had the same issue as described above. I rebooted my phone and the media files were played fine. Yesterday I rooted my phone and before had been transfering files. Thanks!
Clarification, please
I am a new (not rooted) Droid X user having left behind a Blackberry Storm.
I, too, am getting the "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file" message and seek a solution, or at least the workaround.
gadgetgaz - what do you mean by "reboot"? A simple power off, then on, or the "reboot" option via the recovery panel (accessed by holding the power and home keys)?
virulento - by "file transfer mode", what do you mean, "USB mass storage"? And how do you deactivate it?
TIA
drcarl
The reboot works fine. @drcarl, just a simple reboot (off and back on, not the reset).

[Q] Weird sound issues on Vibrant

Hey,
I've had the Vibrant for a couple months now but its been having a weird sound issue as of late where the sound just dies.
The sound stops working randomly and its frustrating because I don't know what causes it. Whats odd is that he ringtones still work if I go to test them in the Sound settings (only the stock ringtones) but all other media doesn't work. Jukefox tells me the music file type is unsupported and the on-phone music player tries to play them then skips to the next over and over.
The only solution I have for this currently is to reboot the phone then the sound works for a random amount of time before it happens again. The only way I find out is when someone calls me and it vibrates instead of the ringtone.
Any ideas? This is quite frustrating. I've also done a factory reset and the problem persists. I'm under the impression it might be a 3rd party app.

[Q] Weird Ringtone issue

I have a LG Optimus T509 and I have flashed it with CM7
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-7.1.0+RC1-Thunderg-KANG
Kernel: 2.6.32.42-franco.kernel.v18
Suddenly I am facing a weird issue with my ring tones, I set my ringtone to "Cassiopeia" originally. Since yesterday, even if i try to change my ringtone in the sound application it plays the sound "Club Cubano" when i select any of the ringtones in the phone. Same track over and over and over again.
I tried changing the ringtone from the profiles and there too the same issue. Interestingly, the phone doesnt ring to "Club Cubano" which it plays while testing the ring tones from sound setting. It plays something else.
Is there a fix for this / Is this a known issue?
I have similar problem with my P500. Not sure when it started, already a while ago, didn't have time to deal with that earlier.
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-7.1.0-Thunderg-KANG
Kernel: 2.6.32.42-franco.kernel.v18
I noticed that phone wasn't playing the ringtone (a mp3 file in the Music folder on SD card) it should. Ringotne in the Sound settings seemed correct. When I tried to change it to anything else it still played the same song.
Another weird thing is that if caller hang up before I pick up the phone ringing music stops and another track starts playing as if music player continues playing the song which was interrrupted. It stops when I press anything on the screen (if locked have to unlock first).
I tried renaming those to music files and then I got some generic rigtone. So for now I renamed the second music file and sticking with the unchangeable ringtone. Fortunately the song is OK, but still the issue is damn annoying...
Any ideas how to fix this?

[Q] Sound and Video suddenly stopped working

Hi guys,
Hi guys,
Sounds and ringtones have suddenly stopped working. Didnt do anything nor did the phone fell or something. :S
Another issue when i try to play any media file, it wont play, it just stops and never plays. I can move along the timeline of music/vdieo file but it wont play i.e. it remains paused but indicator stays along the timeline e.g. 3 minute song, i press play button, it stays on 00:00, then when i move slider to say 1:50, it goes there but nothing happens, just stays on 1:50. After few tries, app crashes.
Even system sound files are not playing, so i cannot receive any sound notifications from call or messages.
I've tried puting in microphones, same problem.
Did a full wipe reflash...still problem persists.
I do not think its necessarily a hardware problem because it just wont play media files. As I said, all music and video files are on auto-pause... no matter what i do, i can slide on timeline, but they just remain paused.
I have tried flashing different JB roms with full wipes etc, still same problem, tried different player apps, same issue. Phone is vibrant, which is old but this shouldn't be happening nonetheless. Tried Slimroms 2.8 and 3.0 and Paranoid android latest, no luck.
Another issue, when I get a call and i slide to accept call, phone gets stuck for 5-10 seconds and then accepts the call, really annoying.
I dont have the money to buy a new phone at this point in time, I just hope to get through with 2-3 more months and then replace *finally*. Your help will be really appreciated.
I tried asking this in Vibrant Q and A forums, no luck.
Thanks!
bump~!
edit: videos started working :S , but no sound
