[Q]Will we ever have a led buttons hack to keep them on longer? - Fascinate Android Development

Just wondering if any devs think this will be possible? I know most of us hate how quickly the light for the keys turn off.

I think this is something Samsung is planning to fix through an update in the future. Although you know how Samsung can be.

[Q] Soft key lights on Desire to N1 roms

Theres a minority of us with the N1 who use Desire rom ports and the soft key lights dont turn on. It appears to have always been this way with no one atempting to fix it, other than the gscript which doesnt work with 2.2. I have an AT&T N1 and kinda think it effects other att versions but dont know for sure, if you have this problem speak up. it would be much appreciated if an intelligent developer could look into this issue. The desire ports are great but not having the lights in dark rooms is rather frustrating and annoying.
thanks
I think this may have something to do with the phone's light sensor. My capacitive buttons (using eVil's latest desire 1.06t) kinda flickers sometimes but most of the time, it's off... Basically, the screen seems to light up pretty bright even in pitch dark and since the screen thinks it's in a 'bright' (since screen turns bright in the sun etc.) setting, it turns off the capacitive key lights... Can anyone confirm and maybe have a fix for this??? This is just my opinion and not sure if what I'm saying is true or makes any sense at all...
Cheers

Request/Suggestion - Home/search/back/menu backlight

I'm currently using the Telus version of this phone (SGH-959D) and i'm finding it rather annoying that the home key backlight turns off very very quickly. Can anyone suggest an app (maybe make one?) that would keep the backligh on when the screen is active (adjustable brightness?)
I'm currently running 2.2 and have rooted the phone.
some people told me that the DISPLAY activates the buttons to light up, and messing with the screen it-self is very dangerous and most people wouldn't do it, but idk if theres a app/program to do this yet i'd love it as well. its making me go blind at night when im reading a book on my phone lol

I'm mostly having problems when using the navigate in the car at night, the screen stays on, but the buttons go right out, so it's guess work on wether you are hitting the home button or the menu button. I could see similar problems when using other apps that leave the screen on for an extended period of time.

I pre-ordered last night....

So I pre-ordered last night at my local at&t store. I am excited as before I went to my at&t store I passed by best buy to hold the dummy model they have. Its big but I was still able to thumb the other side of the device with one hand. I also played with the samsung player which has a 5" screen and runs android but I guess thats just suppose to be an mp3 player, either way it looked similar to the note and it looked great. I can imagine how good the note's display will look.
The only thing right now that is bugging me a little is getting by with no led notification. Can you guys suggest how to get over that little led light that will no longer be on the note? Or how you guys with devices with no led lights are coping?
there is a app that you can get and its free called no led.. My wife had the same issue as she was used to a led light and when she got her samsung she missed it.. works well
But that requires your screen to turn on so basically killing the battery right? I know some samsung devices have that bln mod but not sure how well that works and if its even compatible with the lte note. Any led camera flash apps maybe?
no it puts a small icon that lights up on your screen and bounces around. the rest of your screen is dark.
Camera flash? For notifications? Seems to me that would kill that battery way faster than 64 pixels floating around the screen . . .

What does it really mean to "turn on the screen" for the Samsung AMOLED displays? LCD-based displays need a backlight, even when displaying a single pixel. But turning on just a few LED pixels on a Samsung AMOLED display is probably a very low power operation, since only active pixels should need to be powered, and since there is no backlight.
I haven't had an LED notification for years. And I am thankful that I don't. I remember on BB when I had the LED notification, I was constantly looking at my phone to see if the light was beeping. Without it, I'm so much less obsessed with seeing if I have that stupid blinking light.
@bkeaver - I thought it required the screen to be on
@LiquidArrogance - I've seen the iphone do it like that with a case
@vaxheadroom - Then I definitely am not sure the difference between lcd and AMOLED displays
@kiltedthrower - I'm still obsessed no thanks to the blackberry days
here is a link to the app.... should give you a idea of how it works and what it looks like

Once a kernel is developed that supports bln which I imagine will be fairly quickly, it will be available. And it works very well, I use it on my captivate all you have to do is install the bln supporting kernel, download the app, set up what apps turn on the leds and you're done.

Is it a strain on battery at all? Or does noled work better in regards to battery life?

[Q] Get a slight delay in lock screen appearing when pressing the power button?

Sometimes when I press the power button to unlock the phone, the lock screen pops up instantly, but other times it can take 1-2 seconds for it to pop up.
Does anyone else get this? Does anyone know what causes it? It's a minor irritation, but it's the only flaw I have with this phone so it would be nice if there was a way to fix it.
Thanks.
This also irritates me extremely much!
Quite often I'm unsure if I clicked the powerbutton "enough", so I click again. Then what happens is that the screen turns on and then back off again for me to click a 3rd time.
At least it's not just me then! Hopefully it will be fixed via a software update at some point.
This is well known it occurs when the CPU enters deep sleep. The same thing occured on the S2. From what I have gathered it is the way Samsung Design there CPU's. It was never fixed really on the S2 there was workarounds but no definite fix.
Thanks
Ricey
Thanks for the info! I won't hold out on a fix then, but it's not the end of the world.
yep i have noticed that too.
when you use home menu to turn on screen the delay is slight.
but when you use the power button to turn on the screen the delay is a bit longer compared to using homescreen.
btw, i turned off svoice for home button.
"It is a feature!"
Seriously, it is normal because the phone throttles down its monster quad-core. Trust me guys, you do not want QC at full speed all the time
Pretty sure it is just the samsung rom. same thing with stock samsung roms on my old galaxy s, flash cm9 or aokp and it fixed it.
Flashing those 2 on my device stops the delay and it is almost instantaneous, try jellybean and it IS instantaneous, can't wait for a proper port of that in a few months time... by then I should be sick of samsungs rom and looking for a change anyway. The only problem is that samsung actually did an awesome job this time and i prefer it over stock android. Just the subtle things such as being able to pull down my notification bar in fullscreen games and all the motion control things Its a hard one for me to choose what i want

That's not a fix though. Mine use to do this after the 5.1.1 update. However, its been less frequent now. No idea what causes it though.
Oh...haha it just freaked me out, cause I was suppose to back up my photos then that happen and it freaked me out. Lol so it's a common thing?
When the s6 edge was on the charging pad, it got a little warmer than before when I took it off the pad. Maybe it's a safety feature?
