Actually, I'm pulling it down now. Going to drop it on my phone, try to flash it with CWM, and then post in frustration about it not working.

Lol, attaboy, always willing to take one for the team.

The dev team is hard at work on this in the irc channel, Birdman suggested that he may be able to get a froyo aosp rom going within 2-4 hours, so be patient and good things will come. Exciting!

This post just turned me on

Sorry for the dumb question but what does aosp stand for?
I am pretty embarassed asking as I have been in and out of these forums since the orignal droid was released but still don't know what it stands for

Android
Open
Source
Project

Android Open Source Project
Its the open source code that roms like CyanogenMod are built from, straight from google.

We will not need Voodoo with this. AOSP runs on EXT4. I cannot freaking wait.

I would have to disagree ... I heard roms aren't coming out until windows phone 7 is released cause the source code and drivers are congruent to development. Also people are not developing roms anymore cause stock is better. And one more thing our bootloader is encrypted so no custom roms. Sorry. Might you have to switch back to the droid if you want roms now!

Yeah, that was what we thought at first. Now it's ok though.. you just need to get Verizon to give you more 3G's to put on the GB's so that your apps will have their unlocked ROMs. For to bootload. er.
both of u guys are so close to right. brandon so close with his eta, and you were almost right by saying WP7, but actaully we are waiting on WP8. sorry i have a freind, who dates a girl ,that blows a guy, that supplies mop heads to the maintence at microsoft. and my sources say WP7 is a myth. that it is actually android. also im running a leaked version of gingerbread on my lg enV 2. Gb will drop when you least expect it to drop. maybe when the official drop or maybe not only time and lots of patience with tw roms cause they are next to perfect. so if you dont have patience then you are screwed for being a tw follower.

Even if TW had left the Vibrant we still have lots of other developers. EDT continuously puts out solid work and CM7 is making slow and steady progress. We have alot.of development going on, always something new.
Here's my thoughts. I think 2.2 ROMS are nearing as good as we will see them perform. Check out the change logs for the latest releases. Theme changes, minor changes, etc. I'm not seeing huge leaps and bounds with Kernals. The improvements are still coming, but not nearly at the frequency they have before.
I'm not a developer, so I don't know if this is due to technical limitations or due to the fact that many of the groups are now focusing heavier on Gingerbread.
Team Whiskey is in my opinion the most legit development team for Vibrant. They've said repeatedly they will not release half-assed ROMS. I think they're focusing their work on Gingerbread now. When they come, they will change the game of Vibrant Gingerbread ROMs.

Really, the dev's all work their asses off. Before EDT was here we had just a few dedicated dev's They all did great work. Most people don't keep the same phone very long anymore (even the dev's) so it would be no suprise that when they get a new device they start focusing more of their attention tward that device (**** I know I would)
Thankfully we have a strong team of dev's still working on this and cranking out new stuff all the time (EDT) And we will still be seeing great things from TW. Not to mention all the new up and comers.
If you really want a straight answer about whats going on with TW go to their forum and ask them, that will get you the best response.

Their working on a GB rom.
As you know, TW doesn't like putting out beta's or random half-cooked roms... so they need/want everything to work from step 1.
there's 2 GB roms out right now, CM7 and Double Rainbow.
Neither have GPS working.
Maybe thats why they haven't released? they haven't found a way to make GPS work yet?

Please note that AOSP developers have asked that prospective downloaders wait for the greenlight to download ICS, as it hasn't entirely propogated through their system, and you may end up with a hodgepodge of files from ICS and Gingerbread if you download now.

CM tends to be unable to go very far without the vendor-proprietary bits.
It's possible but EXTREMELY difficult. The CM team has said it'll probably be at least 4-5 months to integrate in general, that's not counting device-specific bringups.
The fastest route to ICS is likely going to be porting an I9100 release.

It looks like were close. Chad said he has fixed everything 100%, and everything just looks to be ROM specific.
I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for a 100% JB ROM, simply because I think it will be along very soon and I hate wiping / reflashing repeatedly. What's another month after all we've been waiting?
I might cave and go for one of the CM9 ROMs or AOKP if Meadows can get it 100%, mainly because it will be official and not a fork from the ROM source.
Chad is amazing, and if I didn't have a car payment, I would have sent a hefty donation his way. Once I get some financial things settled down, I may send him a couple hundred for all his hard and amazing work.

JB is not as far off as ICS was to GB. The updates are minimal for JB where ICS was a complete rework. Let's pretend you have a house named GingerBread. For ICS, we had to demolish that house and redo the foundation. Now, the house is just about move in ready. Once we've moved in, we can decide to do some remodeling which will take a little longer (JB). The framework is already in place, the devs just need to make a few changes here and there.
