Liberated rom is 2.1 HTC sense with sideloading already enabled as well as tons of other cool features. Just flash it thru clockwork recovery. If you need quick help, hop into the irc.

Pure ignorance

I really need help!!! I'm new and used unlockr.com to root my phone since it had step by step instructions. Well I was successful at the root part but I'm stuck at loading a custom Rom. My command prompt makes me put cd c:/AndroidSDK/AndroidSDK/tools to get anywhere, which is not the way he showed it. I downloaded the flash and recovery image in the sdk tools folder and on my SD card. My comp reads an android abd interface. I installed 2.1 & 2.2 platforms on sdk manager. In my c: I put abd device and it gives me a serial number but it will not let me do the rest of the instructions such as adb shell, etc. I really would be indebted for some help. I'm using windows vista 32-bit.

I've never even heard of unlockr.com. I went there and it's some random search website. Did you just search for how to root the Eris from that website? I'm confused.
Anyway, I think you're making things too complicated for yourself. Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742228
That should give you everything you need as far as rooting and installing the Amon RA recovery image all in one go.
I certainly will. Thanks for the help. Yes, I googled how to root and that was what seemed easiest.

No problem. I know it can be a little daunting weeding through all the information on here.
What is a good all around custom Rom? And could anyone steer me in the right direction to maybe a list of Rom if there is one available?

i used the unlockr version and i ended up having to look at other sources as well because i was quite confused head over to eris dev. thread and several are there..... Tazz v6.....CELB 1.9.....KaosFroYo....these are the 2.2ish ROMS
Search for jcase's Known ROMS, hacks, and patches. It's in the Eris dev section. I'm using Eris lightning 3.02 and it works very well for me. A good strong reliable 2.1 sense based Rom with 710mhz overclock and apps2sd working perfectly. The few 2.2 froyo Roms are good, but not quite there yet. You can go to Android.grdlock.net to find the downloadable links to all the Eris roms.

Dang! Okay so just follow all those instructions... I know its early but of the FEW roms available, do you guys like eclipse the best??
seems like a lot of work lolol...
You do not have to go back to froyo. As a matter of speaking, it will not work if you go all the way back to froyo because you still need a gb kernel.
Never mind. I'm wrong for not reading. I didn't realize that you were on stock gb. With stock gb, yes you need to go back.
Once you are on rooted GB, you can use the bootstrap recovery to flash any of the custom roms available for GB without going back to froyo every time. The real chore is getting rooted.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
Sweet so we can always switch roms! nice, dang, I wish I could have someone root my phone lol
Okay, so here is basically what you need to do.
1. sbf back to froyo
2. Go find the link to p3droid's pre-rooted gb update.
3. Install bootstrap for your phone.
4. Find your rom that's right for you.
5. Use bootstrap.
6. ???
7. Profit!
Hope this helps

What do you mean by bootstrap. When I first rooted I had an app that let me boot into recovery. Is that bootstrap? If so once i updated to p3's gb I don't see that app anymore. This is probably a really lame issue, but some clarification would be greatly appreciated!
Once on p3's GB, reinstall the bootstrap recovery app, and use it to flash the eclipse rom.

I don't know if you can do it on a mac, because I don't have one, but I'm almost positive that android sdk works on mac, so I want to day that you probably can. In addition, I wanted to post a link to a helpful thread on sbf to froyo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193818

[Q] Why Clockworkmod doesn't work for some of us?

I'm curious why some of our streak doesn't work with Clockworkmod. Instead that recovery image is has so much useful with other app like Rom Manager.apk
Can anyone tell me why?
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
Even if Clockworkmod did work, ROM Manager has never worked with the Dell Streak. But why don't you use the search engine and look for the answer? I'm fairly sure this question has been asked and answered repeatedly.
I didn't found one on search engine.
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
I don't think you looked too hard. There is an entire thread on Clockworkmod here that I found using the search engine. In addition I found 11 other threads related to Clockworkmod through that same search.
If none of those answer your question, ask Koush, the guy who wrote Clockworkmod.
Why the hell...
Why the hell should anybody want to use Clockworkmod on a streak?

It works on many other devices
Coupled with ROM manager it simplifies the installation of a custom recovery and a custom ROM
If they came from a phone where Rom Manager and CWM worked they are wrongfully expecting the same experience from every Android phone
The problem isn't that they want to use it - the problem is that they fail research properly when before they move to a new phone.

noob in trouble!

Hello all, I hope this is the right place to ask this, but I recently crossed over to Android devices from BB so I'm still trying to figure out my way around things. Today I flashed ICS Android version 4.0.3, kernel version 3.0.8-perf-i717uclc5-cl281649 and build number iml74k.144 onto my Note and the installation went fine, had no problems at all, but now I can't install apps from my web browser(Chrome) onto my Note like I could before the flash. USB debugging is on.
Is this something that I may have done wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.

To be honest, I really don't know, like I said I'm coming from BB and still trying to figure everything out. Here's the link that I downloaded the ROM from:
rootzwiki.com/topic/22134-sgh-i717uclc5-ice-cream-sandwich
If anyone has a link to a better ROM, I'm definitely open to try them out. I would just like to know how to fix the problem of not being able to install apps from the Play Store from my web browser.
You can't install apps using Chrome browser from your PC ?
Why not use the Market (play store) app that's already on your phone? You have to have a Gmail account set up on your phone to access the market.

I've been using the app that's on my phone but EVERYTHING on my phone got wiped and it's a bit easier to multi-task on a computer than it is a phone, so it's more about comfort ability at the moment, but this is just one issue arising, how many other, and potentially more serious issues are going to arise?

So I downloaded the Seraphim First Flight, but I have no idea how to flash it onto my device, I'm assuming you can't do it through Odin?
You better stop! There are so many instructions about rom flashing. Study up!
You can ruin your phone with the click of a button. You sound close to it.
It's really not that hard...
0. Download Rom of your choice to somewhere on your external SD card.
1. Use Odin to flash the latest version of i717 ClockWorkMod Recovery (aka "CWM" )
2. Boot into CWM (use 3-finger salute method to boot into recovery).
3. Clear cache/factory reset
4. Install Rom of your choice that you had saved to your external SD card.
5. Reboot and enjoy .
But yeah, if any/all of the above confuses you, then you REALLY need to spend many hours reading before you go any further.
As for roms, I recommend dman's (as already mentioned) or ICS Perfection -- both have lots of active support...
Good luck.
+1 listen to dman he is D-MAN. you cant go wrong with anything made by THE COLLECTIVE...... any Collective rom will set you straight, just read all instructables .

mistakenly i deleted the Connect to PC app from my Amaze. I believe this is the app that gives a menu of what you want to do when the phone is connected to the pc.
Can someone please post the .apk from the stock ROM so I can install it back again? Thanks.

Stock ICS for T-Mobile.
Totally stock ROM, just rooted to remove bloat.
I believe that's the HTC Sync program.
