[MOD] Extended Soft Key Backlight - Fascinate Android Development

EDIT: Well just found out it is limited to a short.....Which is around 32 seconds.... So 32 seconds is the max you will have.
FILES AVAILABLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST.
Ok after going through a lot of lines of code and i mean a lot, I give you all
Extended Soft Key Backlight (15 seconds to be exact)
If using a theme with a white status/notification bar (bubby's rom) then i would wait till i make this custom for it... This will give you white text in the status/notification bar.
I am using JT's clean rom and it works fine.
If something happens to your phone.... NOT MY FAULT
Now for the release
1. MAKE A BACKUP (JUST IN CASE)
2. INSTALL THE MOD OF YOUR CHOICE (10 SECONDS,15 SECONDS, OR 32 SECONDS (WHICH IS MAX)) WITH THE "APPLY SDCARD:UPDATE.ZIP" OPTION IN CLOCKWORK RECOVERY
3. WIPE DALVIK CACHE IN THE "ADVANCED" MENU IN CLOCKWORK RECOVERY. IF YOU DO NOT WIPE DALVIK CACHE YOU WILL NOT GET THE UPDATE
4. HAVE FUN WITH YOUR FASCINATE THAT HAS 15 SECONDS OF SOFT KEY BACKLIGHT!
5. It will take awhile to boot (1-2 mins.), so don't be worried
I plan on adding different versions of this, 10 seconds, and a really long time one... If I get enough requests.
Time to get some sleep now.
If you want to donate, The button for it is in my signature.

Very nice!

Did you use the .ko in the hardware file? I was looking at this. Excellent work!

no i had to edit the services.jar file. I was trying to do the source files but JT told me he thought it had to do with the services.jar file.... He's always right.
I went through 100+ files and a bunch of code (in HEX) to get it working.

Haha sounds like a good time. You need a"beer me" link.

Not sure... I can try to take a look. What would you want it changed to?

this won't affect BLN will it?

Broken download link.

Wife will be super excited when I get home and flash this on her phone.
Tying this to the screen backlight would be clutch, but you can always flash a matching softkey timeout to your preferred backlight setting, assuming multiple durations are made available

awesome, fantastic work!

this is a lame question, but am I supposed to rename the zip at all? I transferred to the SD card, ran the sd update.zip in clockwork recovery, wiped dalvik cache, and it's still timing out every 3-4 seconds.
Thanks

which one did you flash?

The 15 second zip, attached to the first post. I just tried flashing the zip directly, phone is rebooting now, we'll see if that did the trick.

MoJoMorph (via metamorph)
Here is a little status bar teaser. I only recolored the connection and battery indicator. I plan on creating some swype themes, status bar, and possibly pull down. First Swype Theme is up!
How To:
1. Root!
2. Install MetaMorph from the market
3. Debugging mode on!
4. Copy ZIP files (my morphs) to sd card (unmount before proceeding)
5. Launch MetaMorph
6. Click 'unzip/extract new them"
7. Press arrow on bottom right to go to sd card
8. Find the ZIP theme and click it.
9. Click close on pop up after the files are loaded
10. Click 'apply all'
11. I haven't run too many yet... but I had to click apply all twice for it to take and the 'theme applied' message pops up.
12. Enjoy and show off your cool new swype keyboard to lame ass unrooted friends.

Hey motorjonny thanks for uploading this for all of us. I appreciate it. I'm not exactly to familiar with Metamorph themes myself but when I do get my new device I might just end up giving it a try. I like new things! Thanks again and I hope the thread picks up for ya.
hehe thanks.. People on the vibrant and other phones were pretty into this stuff. It is as easy as following the instructions i put up. I guess it is a bit early for this device... but I will continue to design some more. This phone rocks!
Thanks for the themes. I love metamorph just wish I knew how to actually make them.
I think you'll find that people aren't as mod/flash happy without full blown ROMs to flash over any major fsck up...
Plus we don't have a way to totally restore it to shipping Rom from full root either AFAIK

I totally understand that. I was a bit scared to start this work with no roms. But Nandroid works. I screwed up swype trying to load the g2 version with a mic.. no luck.. deleted swype.. Nandroid restore brought me back to right after i rooted. I have never had a problem with any metamorph I have created messing me up beyond repair. Mine are pretty basic image changes at this point.
I agree. But with the calibre of members on the forums these days with apps floating around like one click root, and perm root thru visionary has decreased severely and as a result some may not be as comfortable as you or I.
Nandroid has saved my Bacon on more than one occasion.
Also every one who purchased the device on launch is still within their return period, many have not made up their minds whether or not to even keep the device (i know I will, I may have to still swap mine out however...) and don't want any difficulty returning (or swapping) the phone.

Hey I don't know if anyone else using metamoprh or ninjamorph but neither wants to work for me. anytime I try and run the checks it tells me that some files could not be extracted and setup. And tells me to make sure my system partition has enough space. I have no idea what it means or how to fix it.
got that on my first use, reboot fixed me up right away...
when are we gonna get that status bar???

Status bar force closing after flashing zip from kitchen

I have a stock unlocked and rooted rezound, i just created a zip from kitchen for my status bar icons. I followed the directions exact, wiped cache and dalvik, then flashed zip. Booted up and status bar keeps force closing. I then wiped cache and dalvik again, mounted data and system, and flashed again but with same results. Anyone know whats going on or how to fix, i am going to have to restore my nandroid and start over?
I wouldn't wipe. most times you get that but let it sit for a few minutes then reboot then it sticks
sent from tapatalk on my rezound
Ive tried everything and still it just shows no status bar and give the force close message from time to time

What ROM are you running? ICS ROMs are finicky and even still Sense GB ROMs can be that much worse. I'd recommend pulling your working framework and swapping the icons/files you're trying to get from the Kitchen.
Im stock rooted. Gingerbread
Im just gonna restore my backup i cant figure out anything else
I've been getting that status bar issue for the last few days. It started after I installed a couple remote control apps and a game. I've uninstalled the game and deleted the openfeint folder and uninstalled one of the remote control apps and it's still happening.
It usually restarts itself but sometimes I have to reboot to get it back.
I think I'm going to go back to my stock OTA nand and then set everything up again, make a nand and try that remote control app I like again.
Anyway, just chiming in that I'm having the issue as well but I've never used the kitchen. I am running a theme, a skin and I pulled in some icons from an ADW theme into Sense using Folder Organizer.
If I figure out what is causing mine to fc I'll post back.
Much appreciated thanks, my status bar never even showed once since flashing but the force close message would come up from time to time. I just restored my backup and am gonna continue looking into this. I would really like to get it solved to due away with the boring stock icons.
I wouldn't use a kitchen for that. Put your icons in with 7 zip and then sign it.

If you're just swapping icons. Pull your framework/sysui and unzip it, swap the icons and re-zip it(usually using store compression). You won't need to sign the apk. I actually made a script for this.

AOKP Build 25 Rom Port

First off, all credit should go to Roman and the AOKP team for creating the rom, JT and sbrissen for making the fascinate able to run this setup, Stephen.k.Spear for the first port of this rom, and anyone else I forgot to mention that was involved (sorry). I'm not looking to take this port over or step on any toes, but I just wanted to share an awesome experience with the rest of the fascinate community.
Link to AOKP main site (changelogs, forums, FAQs, etc.)...
http://forum.aokp.co/
Installation instructions (have latest cwm recovery)...
-reboot into recovery via power button reboot options, terminal emulator, or rom manager (no 3 finger reboot if on any ics rom)
-wipe data / factory reset
-flash THS build 2 (not required if already on an ics rom)
-let phone boot up
-reboot into recovery via power button options
-wipe data / factory reset
-flash AOKP build 25
-let phone boot up
Build 25 download link...
http://db.tt/IBc5scHR
Info, fixes, walkarounds...
I based this port off of THS Build 6, and the Toro AOKP build. I included the gmail, market, and file explorer apps (have titanium backup on your sd card and easily browse through the file explorer to install it...then restore your apps). Everything is working flawlessly except for mms. A walkaround is to download setdns from the market (free)...
http://market.android.com/details?id=uk.co.mytechie.setDNS
Open app, choose custom, set dns1 to 8.8.8.8, set dns2 to 66.174.92.214, hit apply, reboot to recovery, wipe cache then dalvik, then reboot. Mms will work identically to all the other mtd based roms (no mms over wifi).
Currently the option in rom control / lockscreen options / enable fast torch is inop so there is no need to add it to the reboot options menu. An easy torch walkaround is to download flashlight + led from the market (free)...
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.devuni.flashlight
This app has a nice option that while on lockscreen, shaking (adjustable) the phone will turn on / off the led camera light, along with a lot of other great options.
Currently the option in rom control / lockscreen options / lockscreen wallpaper is inop due to soft resets over all ports. The original dev is working on it.
As far as nav bar options go, under rom control / power menu options, turn on show nav bar toggle. Then, when you press and hold the power button for reboot options, the option to hide / show the nav bar will be there. After toggling this you may have to rotate, or open a different screen to refresh the screen itself where the nav bar was. You could also just hit lock quick.
While docked, and only when using the dock, the miui battery bar shows charging, along with the info under settings / battery. It doesnt show charging on the battery icon itself, or the lock screen. It is charging though. Ill let the roms creator know about this issue.
When rebooting from reboot menu, you have to press reboot then reboot again in order to reboot normally, otherwise leaving it on reboot will reboot you into recovery. Its as if recovery is default if nothing is physically pressed. This is happening over all ports.
**continue to look at the op for newest info, fixes, etc.**
...will edit original post after work later with a lot more info...

Galaxy Note 2, boot sound starts and keeps looping.

When I shutdown my phone or reboot it the boot tune, the one that happens when you first turn on the phone happens, then the Verizon 4g lte tune happens, finally right after that the boot tune happens again but this time MUCH louder and it loops while the phone is on infinitely, unless I pull down my notification bar, otherwise it'll play over all other sounds, and even while the screen is off.
Anyone have a fix, I'm unrooted, I have done nothing exotic to the phone, everything is stock and typical, help, thanks.
