[Q] what's wrong with my clock mod recovery? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed it through rom manager.
And every time I wanna go to recovery
It goes to the android recovery and not
clock mod's.
I also get a check sum error and it can open something
Can anyone plz tell me what's wrong?
Thanks

Did you follow the steps koush gave in his thread for CWR?
Installation instructions:
1.Download ROM Manager from the Market.
2.Flash Recovery.
3.Choose Vibrant as your phone.
4.Accept the Superuser prompt.
5.On the very FIRST boot of Clockwork, you may need to manually select "reinstall packages" if Clockwork does not start. You should only ever have to do this once. It will be automatic from then on.
6.Watch the backup go!

I'm not sure can u direct me to them plz

You probably tried to partition the internal memory with clockwork mod. I also had that same issue before my replacement vibrant came. Now I flashed alot of roms and my recovery still looks normal. Im so relieved.

I did that every single step even the re install through
Regular recovery
But nothing

you opened rom manager, you selected to flash CWR, then you rebooted into recovery, then you reinstalled packages?
I've never heard anyone have an issue, just trying to make absolute certain you followed the steps before we try anything else.

If you partition your sd through clock mod recovery
Is for you internal sd or external sd?

Do NOT patrition, it will mess your phone up.

That's what I did trying to partition my sd card
But it got the internal! ¡!!!!
Do you know how to get internal sd back to
Factory settings?

Having same issue as OP
Can't get into clockmodwork green menu.
Currently running 2.2 update from kies any suggestion? I want to flash the phone with the new team whisky mod.

I followed the steps s15274n gave and when I try to re-install the packages I get..
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Are you sure ur phone is rooted. Clockwork recovery wont work until its rooted. For some strange reason everytime I go back to stock to flash a new rom I have to do a full sd wipe. Even when the update.zip file is there for root there's something that on the card that wont let me root until after I completely wipe the sd card.

These steps also do not work for me. When running "reinstall package" it will see the new update.zip file but does not load it. It skips it and just boots back into the standard blue recovery mode. I have flashed and re-flashed about a hundred time. I even tried older flashes of clockwork.
I installed 2.2 through Samsung Kies.
Running KA6
I rooted with Superoneclick

Bingo. You need to be running either 2e, or a modded 3e. Cwm is useless without one of those.

[Q] Trying to boot into clockwork recovery but having problems...

I'm having problems getting into clockwork recovery. When I go to clockwork recovery, and click boot into recovery, it just goes to the samsung recovery, and not the clockwork recovery. This has happened before when I would try it, and when I did it a second time, it would load the clockwork recovery. I'm trying to get into the clockwork recovery to clear my battery stats, as I just flashed Bionix Froyo Obsidian V3.0. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to hit reinstall packages from the samsung recovery? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah just hit reinstall packages I read that with the new 2.2 roms its a lil bug no big deal it will be fixed. For me it reboots twice before heading into clock work! Hope I've helped.

Thanks for the reply , and I tried to use the "reinstall packages" and it goes through the installation, but brings me back to the samsung recovery console. I then tried to reboot the phone, and then tried again (using clockwork recovery console), but it still boots into the samsung recovery. This kind of scares me, because I flash my roms using this method. Any other ideas?

I was using 2e recovery to make a nandroid back up, then went back into recovery to flash a mod but Rom manager didn't boot into recovery right. A exclamation mark pops up in a triangle, then nothing happens until i press the home button and recovery but with this error "failed to verify whole-file signature". Now i can't use cwm to flash anything. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Had same issue with the verification, this is how I ended up fixing mine.
1. Odin with "froyo no brick eugene", and the pit
2. Place CWR on sd card, reinstall updates may have to do this process twice till you boot into CWR, if verification error do the following.... place the
CWR voodoo recovery on. Rename "update.zip" and go about it this way.
3. Once in recovery you should be able to flash any rom, as usual wipe data/factory reset, cache, davlik. Should be good to go, Voodoo CWR has helped me, been through this process twice.
Had this problem also. Try using hardware keys for recovery instead of ROM manager. It happened with eugene gingerclone r2. I think it's because the cwm recovery on the kernel and the update.zip are two different versions.
Hello,
I am on a Samsung Galaxy S (original rom) with froyo.xwjpa and i can't get clockwork to work. ("failed to verify whole-file signature") Kernel: 2.6.32.9 (rooted phone with lagfix)
What to do?
I tried the update.zip via the 3 button method and via the "ROM Manager" (clockworkmod 2.5.1.2)
(I want to flash my phone with the "Darkys_V8.0_Gingerbread_Edition_Wipe")
[RESOLVED]
I went from the Unofficial Froyo to Macnut R14 to Obsidian v4.2 and now to Nero v3. I had this problem on Obsidian, I forced into recovery by holding down the volume buttons and the power button then let go after the vibrant logo is shown twice, then flashed a new ROM and it worked, so after switching ROM's (Nero 3), clockwork is working now. I really don't know why it wasn't working, I was unable to flash any mods, themes, or kernels but a ROM worked.
EDIT:

I'm not to knowledgeable about the I9000 Samsung Galaxy S, even though the Vibrant should be identical except for the FFC and ROM, but you can try this:
Did you try disabling your lagfix?
If not then give that a try. If that doesn't do it, uninstall ROM Manager, then reinstall it, open ROM Manager, reflash clockwork, I believe the newest version is 2.5.1.3, then try the 3 button method.
I have the same problem too (using 3e recovery).
Tried pressing the vol + power keys to get into recovery mode, but still getting "failed to verify whole-file signature"
Pls help...
I just rooted my stock Froyo Vibrant and installed ROM Manager so this is a brand new setup. No other ROMs installed. I am getting the E:failed to verify whole-file signature error with no luck.
Tried the following:
-Reinstalling ROM Manager and selecting "Flash Clockwork Recovery"
-Rebooting using "Reboot into Recovery" - I get stock recovery text
-Selecting "reinstall packages"
-I get the error above
-Turn off phone and use Vol Up + Vol Down + Power to boot into stock recovery
-Select "reinstall packages"
-Same error
I want to flash the Bionix-v ROM, but I want to get a nandroid backup first since I've already bricked a Vibrant before with no backup.
Any help would be appreciated!
Here, this should do it, @ the part where you Reinstall Packages, you might have to do it twice if it brigs you into stock recovery again.

[SOLVED] Can't root! "E: signature verification failed"

My Vibrant used to be rooted. I just updated Tmobile Froyo KA6. I try rooting using Z4root, but it won't do anything. I manually try and getting:

Super On Click Root worked for me but I get the same message while trying to install a new ROM.
I got the "E:signature verification failed" message on my Motorola Defy (Android 2.1 Eclair with Motoblur) while rooting in recovery mode. It was using the SuperOneClick method connecting the phone to a Mac. Actually, that version of the software says once installed in your Mac that is for Samsung Galaxy S, but root all models. I followed the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739304
I have to say that I tried z4root and was useless; so now I see little alternatives...
USB debugging, SD mount and everything is in the way it should... Anyone can help me please?
Edit: I saw in the mentioned thread that many are having similar problems. Someone said that manually copying the update.zip file in the SD card and then doing the whole thing in recovery mode worked. I wasn't that lucky. Now, at the bottom of the phone screen I get the following lines in yellow:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
So I am stuck here.
Same thing happened to me when I did the kies update for 2.2 ka6 and hated froyo stock. I tried to root and couldn't. Long story short, I Odin'ed back to 2.1 and used one click root which worked perfectly. Running Bionix V now no problems .

Yes, you do have to go back to 2.1 before being able to flash any custom rom.
Guys,
I have resolved this many many times... Just follow these steps -
Pre-requisite - Enable USB debugging on your phone and connect it to your pc.
1. Root your phone using SuperOneClickv1.6.5-ShortFuse. You can get it at 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682'
2. Go to this thread and download the two files 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423' - '3e_recovery_installer.zip' and 'update.zip (1.34 mb)'
2. Run install.bat from 3e_recovery_installer folder to rectify the the recovery signature checking.
3. Keep the just downloaded update.zip (1.34 mb) in your internal sdcard and boot under recovery. Select reinstall package option. Update.zip will get installed and phone will reboot.
Its not done yet.
4. Now get the actual clockwork mod recovery update.zip (1.72 mb). You can get this using ROM manager. Now put this update.zip (1.72 mb) in your internal sdcard and boot under recovery. Select reinstall package option. Update.zip will get installed and phone will reboot and will be back in samsung recovery mode. Select reinstall package again and bang... You should now be at cwm recovery

Before installing a custom ROM, it is not mandatory to go back to stock 2.1. Generally it is just recommended when you are going from one custom ROM to another custom ROM and by going back to stock you avoid taking ghosts (issues) of one custom ROM to another.
So if you follow my instructions to resolve your cwm recovery for Stock 2.2, you should be good to go to Simply Galaxy/Sweet Honey 2.7.1 without going back to Stock 2.1.
Hope this helps...
Its a normal occurrence after upgrading through Kies to 2.2. The 3e recovery always used to work for me regarding the signature verification error. Accept the last time I tried it about a week ago it coukdnt get it to work for whatever reason.
So what I did was use odin & revert back to 2.1. Then root using one click root. Then just flash a 2.2 rom in clock work, Bionix for example. Then you will on 2.2. You will have no problem with the signature verification this way. Gluk

dissable signature verification
DISABLE E: SIGNATURE VERIFICATION ON SAMSUNG VIBRANT
Here goes steps to install this modified 3e Recovery:
PREREQUISITE
Working USB connection between your Vibrant and computer. You may setup ADB or install Kies on your computer.
INSTRUCTIONS
Disclaimer: Proceed at your own risk. We are not responsible if your device gets bricked or damaged during the process.
1. Download Modified Recovery 3e for Vibrant on to your computer and extract it’s content.
2. Put your Samsung Vibrant into “USB Debugging Mode”. To do it, go to “Applications”—> “Settings” –> “Applications” –> “Development” –> and check the box “USB debugging”.
3. Connect the Vibrant to computer via USB cable.
4. Run the “install.bat” file located in the extracted content.
5. Wait till the process completes.
That’s it. Your Vibrant should now have modified 3e Recovery that disables signature verification. You may now root the Samsung Vibrant or install ClockworkMod Recovery on it.
now try rooting with one click or manual

Just to make sure I am doing this correctly. Im using a TMO Vibrant, running stock 2.2 froyo KA6. This is not the 4G model. I wanna load the kernal from cmered Overstock with voodoo
1. Rooted phone using superoneclickroot
2. Download SGS Kernal Flasher from market, and gave it superuser permission
3. moved Overstock to my external sd on phone which has 5.33gb left
4. opened SGS Kernal flasher and will choose kernal to load
5. After flashing kernal will go to market and download Voodoo app and BLN app

No biggie people get wound up about backing up you can reinstall apps if you lose them

Here is what i do:

2. Then flash your new rom
3. Then root the phone
4. Then Down load Rom manger
5. Restore from Titanium backup
Then you are good to go......

Once you have followed the instructions provided in that thread, you SHOULD be good to go. If you are having issues with getting the 3e mod/hack to work, hook up to SuperOneClick one more time and "Shell Root" right before you try to do the mod hack, this worked for me.
Let us know how it goes.
PS: this hack only pertains to you if you're running the official 2.2 ROM, not 2.1

Do you have Clockwork recovery installed on your phone? How are you trying to install these custom ROMs? Are you using ROM Manager?
You don't need root to flash a Rom...
Get Odin
Get an Odin flashable version of cwm
Flash said recovery with Odin
Boot into recovery by holding all the buttons till you feel a vibrant and letting off the power button, or the adb command: adb reboot recovery (or since you have root, download a terminal emulator from the market enter the command: reboot recovery, then Grant superuser permission.)
Then Flash Rom in cwm...
Old version of TWRP maybe?

That is stock recovery 3e...
Go read my post above...
THIS IS A LINK TO CWM TOUCH...JUST CLICK ANYWHERE HERE AND GET THE ODIN FLASHABLE VERSION
You do not need root to flash a Rom... Rom manager is not needed, and in fact just causes more problems than is worth
I don't think ROMmanager is even capable of flashing anything on the note. Someone correct me if I am wrong
You're correct...i wish that app would just go away and be erased from people's memories.
Actually i don't think Rom manager has worked on any Samsung device since eclair...as froyo was when they introduced 3e recovery, which requires signed update.zips, which only Samsung has the signature tool for.
So the update.zip Rom manager downloads to flash cwm with just gets stuck at "E: signature verification failed"
I'm still getting errors I'm going to search on youtube some more and see what could possibly be an issue. I go in with Up+home+power and erase everything I can in there and try to load from .zip and errors.
So I got it to work. I didn't really do anything differently except put it on my external SD card instead of my internal.
