Hi all,
Does this exist, or is someone here already working on it (ETA?).
Thanks.

hey there. welcome to xda.
quick answer - it may exist, but not released. eta is unknown if ever.
also, please search. this is discussed in numerous threads.
again, welcome. cheers.

Thanks for the reply.
Are there any legal barriers to releasing Win7 for HD2, i.e., why it would not be released? I saw a video somewhere showing it runs on HD2, so why wouldn't it be released soon?
PS: A search was the first thing I did, and nothing captured my attention. Maybe this was buried as a discussion under some other threads, but I do not have the time to dig in, sorry. Or maybe I did not use the right lingo.

Android 1.6 on Hero?

Hi, this is my first post at this great forum..
Is it possible to have Android firmware 1.6 on the HTC Hero, without HTC Sense (essentially the 1.6 you would find on a G1)?
If so, can someone point me in the right direction to find out how to do this.
Much thanks - Sorry if there is already a thread like this, I searched but didn't find anything matching.
This question has been answered several times. Please use the search tool on the forum?
Could you please post a link to a thread answering my question.
As stated above, I used to search tool to no avail.
Thanks.
Edit: I have found it after a lot of searching.

Mind posting a link so that others (who search and find this thread) can benefit from your searching?

For sure.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=570388
- This thread essentially asks the same question I am asking, it seems impossible for the moment other than disabling the sense home screen and some other random hacks to remove HTC applications.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567672
- This thread is the development page for developing a clean 1.6 for Heroes.
Its pretty much impossible at the moment to maintain all functionality while removing the Sense interface which is a real shame. That is, unless I have missed something.
Hope this helps.

It is more that in order to get everything working (hardware wise), the kernel source is pretty much required and we don't have it (yet!).

Hi,im new to this forum and first i would like to apologize if i posted in a wrong place.
Please delete or move this thread to an appropriate place if needed.

Did i do something to offend you?
Im new to changing roms and i dont know if it is possible to delete Win Mobile and replace it with Android.
And if it is possible please direct me to correct stable rom.
Again thanks!
at the moment the answer is no i'm afraid. people are working on getting droid running from the phone but don't expect a replacement any time soon.
i'd advise you search as there is plenty of info about this

Chris

As Chris said above, it's not possible yet. The devs are hard at work on this as we speak and hopefully it won't be long.
P.S. if you have any more questions on Android on the HD2, please post in the HD2 Android General forum
And welcome to xda

There's no need for that kind of language...it's not tolerated in this forum. While it may be frustrating seeing the same posts over and over, it would be a little more helpful if you were to help the OP and guide him to where he should be looking.
Thank you for answering this.
Im sure its pretty hard to redesign OS like Android to work on device that is not intended to run it.
The guys at XDA are doing a great job!
I apologize for opening another thread about Android.
Is there some news about WinMobile 7?
I heard that MS officially dropped support for HD2.
Will there be custom ROMs based on Win7 for HD2?

I'm normally not one to flame newbs but it HAS been explained ad nauseum and is easily found in ANY Desire HD rom thread within the first or second page. it doesn't even take a thorough search or drudging through a 50 plus page thread to find the answer to this question.
Mods - please close
Mods.
Please close - another thread that should not have been started wasting more bandwidth.
OP - Please take the time to search the forums first. Whilst XDA members are here to help it does get a bit frustrating when questions such as this are asked time and time again.

I really hate when a member who has alotta posts', always has something smart to say when a "newbie" asks a question. It's not necessary! While the post may be a waste of "space", the question is still relevant. Don't forget, "YOU" was once a newbie also!!! A simple answer could've ended this thread already. Many of us aren't as tech savvy as others, thats why forums like this was created. If it wasn't for "newbies" these forums wouldn't continue to exist. Show some respect to all, whether ur a "moderate" "senior member" or a "newbie". Thank you!
we had the same issue back in the G1 days when eclair was first ported. someone took the time to reverse engineer the camera driver to get it to work in eclair. either we get the source for it, or someone has to take good chunk of time to figure it out.

Just curious, is there some reason why a camera driver from another build won't work in the Desire HD ROM?
Ditto, I agree. Let's be accommodating and helpful.

Because its not a camera "App" issue. More of a driver issue.

What prevents the use of the camera driver from a working Android build? Is it not a ko module?
If it were that easy, dont you think darkstone would have just included in the first beta itself

Camera driver= kernel issue. We do not have the kernel source yet. Lets hope we get it sometime soon!

No, people are not getting mad just because he asked a question. Its the fact that he did not do any research at all (Which is a huge rule on this site). The answer to this question has been answered in just about every Desire HD-2 thread. Also because this particular forum "HD2 Android Development" is not for Q&A. I've seen a thread about this exact question start like once a week, and it always gets moved.

No, it won't work. See the below thread for current progress on CM7 on the T-Bolt.

It's not ready yet, people are working on it, chill out.
A) This the wrong section for this question and B) this questions has been addressed multiple times.
@scottricketts: why dont you "chill out" yourself? huh?
i ask simple question, if this is bothering you go "chill" somewhere else...
@failsaf3: ok, sorry for posting at wrong place (i'm new here), i'm not on this forum 24/7 to see if question was address multiple times.
i guess if someone is working on it, then i'll just wait till its all done ;p
Everyone just needs to RELAX
i'm relaxed, i just dont like getting this kind of tone with "chill out" from someone... if failsaf3 said it was address multiple times and that i post at wrong forum, so i'll accept that since what i did is wrong and i've been corrected in professional way.

He may have been harsh, but you have to understand that this question is brought up on a regular basis. Your question could have been google'd and answered, or you could have used the search feature on this site to get your answer. Answering the same question over and over again and having the forum clogged with the same question gets very irritating. Like previously mentioned, there is a thread in general that is dedicated to keeping us updated on when it's released.
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=cyanogenmod+thunderbolt
guys, let's just close this conversation
i saw it in news that this mod just came out so i rush to xda to ask for it, let's just forget it about this whole thing ... i'm like any other average joe will be patiently waiting for an "official" release of cyanogenmod7 or official release from verizon/htc

[Q] WebOS on a Hero... Is it possible???

I didn't find anything similar on these forums, so I decided to start new thread...
Here's an idea...
So, my question is to all developers that are still interested in the old Hero -
IS IT POSSIBLE TO COOK SOME WEBOS BUILD FOR THE HERO?
Since the WebOS is now opensourced, I guess we all can find some workarounds to make this happen...
By the way, I LOVE the interface and the way WebOS works... Don't you?
...
Actually, I need 10 posts too... But also wanted to hear some opinions on this...
Anybody??? No one?? ...
I don't think so, cause Hero does not have unlocked bootloader like HD2, and WebOS is working on else architecture, that there aren't drivers and kernel for hero.
We can unlock the bootloader, there was a topic about it in the development section not too long ago. The main problem i think is that we don't have that many devs any more :/

I was about to propose that we discuss it together so we could both get 10 posts, but I*can see you already got them. Lucky you
I heard that some devs from here working on it...
