App to turn on the phone at a certain time? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there an app that turns the phone on at a certain time? Like say I turn it off at 1& time it to wake up at 7. Personally I think this would be a great way to improve battery life.

Correct me if im wrong, but for that to work an app or service would have to run in the background. If the phone is completely off, there wont be an app / service to trigger the phone to power on.
I think thats the whole point in the phone being off is to have nothing running at all to consume memory / cpu cycles.

Yeah, don't think Tasker is THAT advanced.

Battery use not showing apps

Batter use only shows Display, Cell standby and Phone idle.
Can't figure out way to change this, for others it seems to show apps too, would really help on controlling battery usage.

[Q] Alternative to Juice Defender? It keeps turning off my Data Network

Hello all,
I have been using Juice Defender for a few weeks and the last two days I noticed I couldn't connect to the internet. I then noticed that my data network had been turned off and after doing a little research I believe that Juice Defender is indeed the culprit. Is there any other battery savers out there that are basically the same that won't do this to me?
Thank you for your time,
AJ
What are your settings in juice defender, cause you can customise power saving profiles..
I just set it on balanced. What is a good setting?
Balanced is good, click customize and set it to your liking... The free version wont give you much customization, you might wanna get the paid version "Ultimate" for maximum customization options..
I have never used juice defender, but most of the "battery saver" apps I am familiar with get most of their battery savings by disconnecting data except for short periods of up time.

OK. I wonder why it shut my data completely off and didn't turn it back on. Hows battery 2x
Just curious how much does juice defender actually save on battery? Currently I get about 4-4.5 hrs screen time, is juice defender really gonna improve it that much?
(sorry for the ot)

I personally found that JD killed my battery faster when it was enabled. I got rid of it a long time ago.
Alternative to Juice Defender? Nothing.
Just don't use it, except:
Use BetterBatteryStats to identify apps that are hogging your battery by holding wakelocks, and uninstall them.
Use Advanced Task Killer to kill wakelocking apps that you HAVE to keep around for whatever reason, but want to kill if they're holding wakelocks. (Like Facebook - that's the only app I kill after bootup at this point.) - Note, NEVER use an automatic task killer, and never use a task killer for memory management, only for killing wakelock holders.

+1 on that. I didn't see any battery saver app that does not do it.

Why not use AutoStart?
It prevents FB from starting all together till you actually open it up.
I need to figure out how that app actually works then maybe I can modify it myself in the rom/apk.
I use Green Power and it has helped me get longer battery life. The only thing I have enabled in it is mobile data tweaking: Mobile data is turned on only for a minute and then turned off for 10 mins while the screen is off. It has settings to define day and night (11pm to 6am). Above toggling behavior happens only during day while screen is off. During night, mobile data is turned off completely. You can even go to airplane mode if you want to.
Using Llama, I simply set WiFi to go off when screen turns off and turn it back on when screen turns on.
I also use Llama to turn on bluetooth when the phone is ringing or when I am in a call. Bluetooth is then made to turn off when the call ends. I don't use bluetooth for music, so this setup works for me.

I use the Titanium Backup Pro's freeze/defrost/launch widget to prevent FB from running in background. One click to defrost and launch it and another click to freeze it.
I use tasker. Very powerful program. Can tell your phone to do so much, whenever you chose. Since I am a lazy guy, I tell it to shut off data/wifi when screen is off. I also do things like disable Bluetooth after a certain time (don't need bluetooth while I am sleeping).

I use myprofiles. I use it to automatically turn off auto sync while I'm at work, and turn on airplane mode while I'm sleeping. I can get nearly 2 days with light to moderate usage.
I set it and forget it, never have to manually adjust settings. Different than juice defender, but works for me

I love tasker. Use it to turn on wifi when I'm near home, turn on GPS when I load up maps, and all types of other stuff.

[Q] Logging Processes using CPU

Recently, out of sudden, something got wrong with my Android (on Xperia Arc). From time to time, when screen is blocked, something starts to turn on and off the screen. It keeps going like this forever (switching every few seconds, then staying on for few seconds and going blank again) until I unlock the screen. After I unlock the screen I cannot of course determine which process it might have been. On the other hand having screen switched half a day, drains the battery very quickly.
Therefore I am looking for an app, which can monitor and, what is most important, log in some file CPU load (not a total one but divided into processes). It doesn't have to be a task killer or battery optimizer. Just simple logger will do. Anyone knows such app?
Of course any other ideas how to deal with the problem will be much appreciated.
You can use cpu spy. Also looking up a logcat might help you see what's the problem.

Disabling cellular, and force power off at certain %?

Hi guys,
I can't seem to find anywhere in this device to force cellular off. I don't want to enable aeroplane mode because I use wifi and GPS.
Also, is there a way to force the device to power down when it's at, say, 8% power? It seems like it powers down when it's totally drained, which causes the device to stop tracking time when it powers back up. I imagine if it could force power down earlier, it would still keep time when I get around to recharging it...
You can enable Airplane mode THEN activate Wifi and GPS ... it's what I'm doing on my truesmart to save battery

Thanks!
Any way to get the device to shut down based on battery %?
It doesn't matter how much battery is remaining when you turn the watch off. It doesn't keep track of the time when its off unless you have it automatically checking the mobile network for the time. Try it. Turn your watch off before the battery dies, wait 10 minutes, then turn it back on. The time will be the same as when you turned it off. Seems stupid but hopefully it will get fixed in a future update.
Use tasker to do it

Here's a free app that should do it. I tried it on my phone and it worked great.

[Q] G3 gets really warm

Anyone know why my g3 gets really warm even when doing simple tasks like texting and basic web browsing. Ive restored I've also had the latest update I installed a different rom the only thing I haven't tried is aosp rom but I don't know how good that works. When I've looked in battery status or cpu apps there's nothing really using my resources it just warms up like if I was charging the battery I don't know if it's normal anyone have a clue?
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
Turn down your brightness and when your done with a app clear it from your recents. You could also go into g3 tool box and make it to when you long press something it totally closes the app. Just try to closes every single app when your done and also make sure to keep your ram down.
Closing every app when you're done is bad advice. Android isn't Windows. Android abhors a [memory] vacuum, and will simply keep reloading apps into unused memory to keep them available for rapid use. Background apps, with few exceptions, aren't really "running." They just in standby mode, ready to be activated when called upon, and use no cpu. Constantly killing and reloading apps uses more CPU and battery than just letting Android do it's thing.
If your device is running really warm when not doing much, it could be a hardware issues, it could be an app or process running out of control. GPS will heat up the phone when actually in use, but shouldn't have any impact otherwise. What's your battery life like? In the battery screen, what apps are shown as using the most battery?
My brightness is down and I don't really do much on My phone it starts getting warm when I open an app and I've used it for at least 5 minutes it gets warm gps is always off only things I have on is either wifi or data everything else is usually off

Your data may be the problem, lets say you set your phone to "lte only" mode. Then the phone has to try harder to get lte. So maybe try changing network mode(s).
