[Q] tun.ko / kernel sources for LG P500 - Optimus One, P500, V General

I'm sorry if this is yet another thread for kernel recompilation and tun.ko.
I would like to be able to use openvpn with the P500... but I can't find the source for the kernel used in the LG P500.
Can I use generic sources for 2.6.32.9 or is a lg-patched kernel required?
xdadevc

Did it myself...
Well... I helped out myself
Here's a tun.ko module for the LG P500! Openvpn works now.
Since source is not available from LG (yet) the module is compiled from the original 2.6.32.9 sources used in the P500 and it works in my P500 (tested with tun openvpn).

Hello,
thanks I've searched it for many hours. I must look if it works, but i can load it per insmod that is a right way.
Also now I must configurate my own openVPN network.
Thanks a lot.
Greeting schreibnix

Great news! Thanks =)

Thanks a lot...looking forward to test it

Once kernel source drops if you guys notify me I'll Oc it like I did the optimus S and lg ally.

Yes, OC kernel
We need some power for our OO

Hi i want to test my OpenVPN server but i need tap kernel driver, have you compile it?
Many thanks

AFAIk there is no tap kernel driver for openvpn,
we can only use tun
the tun.ko on cm7's rom is not compatible with the kernel.
so i searched for a compatible tun.ko for the kernel
anyone who have some problems on configuration (config file of openvpn )
you can contact me,
FYI we use openvpn here in our country to have free internet, ( using backdoor connection )breaking onto the network's firewall

You mean the stock **** kernel? No, cannot help. Download the sources and compile it.
Or just flash a saner kernel from Paolo or franco.

tun.ko for LGP 500 with Android 2.3.3
After searching all the forums and all the possible forums , I couldn't find anywhere the Tun.ko module of LGP 500 with Gingerbread.
I decided to re-compile the kernel module to build tun.ko and got it working successfully
I am able to connect to VPN
Attaching if anyone want to use it

Tested on Bell LG E720B optimus Chic

IPTABLES binary and modules

Did anyone managed to install iptables on a rooted X10?
What I read is,you need first to activate netfilter hooks in kernel, like cyanogenmod, native SE kernel hasn't activated yet,i think.
Waiting for Roms

[Help] Unable to start wifi - After installed custom kernel

Hi everyone,
My X10i said that it cannot enable wifi after I had installed custom kernel on STOCK ROM (I have tried many of stock firmwares but the same problem). The custom kernel I used is:
- FreeKernel-alpha1 by zdzihu
- FreeKernel-alpha1-in-call volume fix by zdzihu
I also used the FreeXperia Kernel beta4 by Bin4ry. The wifi works good but I cannot start a full benchmark from Quadrand. It said that "this phone does not support ..." something like that when I tried to benchmark.
Please help!
Thanks in advance.
Custom kernals aren't supported at this point so it would make sense that you had some error, especially when you are installing it on a STOCK rom. There's not much you can do until they develop something stable =)

Thanks, I create this thread because I watched the video in which X10i (STOCK firmware) installed custom kernel from zdzihu and the wifi works properly. But mine is not working.
Just download "barnacle" from the marketplace and use that. It works perfectly.

Can you post a dmesg of the error right after the "Unable to start Wi-fi" ?
Open a terminal emulator and type dmesg, save the text and attach it here, I have a similar problem :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12882017
Thanks, I will do it and post the info asap.
one possible reason could be..
wifi.ko needs to insmod in the kernel mine was stuck coz of that.
did you used flashable zip to install kernel or manually did the editing.
please post your chargemon @ /system/bin/chargemon
+ logcat.

[MODULE] tun.ko for 4.0.2.A.0.62 | 4.1.B.0.431

Hello,
For those who want to use OpenVPN, I compiled a tun.ko module from SE's kernel source.
Tested on Xperia Ray stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware with OpenVPN Installer and OpenVPN Settings from Android market.
UPDATED 13 JUN 2012:
Sony just released the kernel source for 4.1.B.0.431. Here is the tun.ko compiled for stock 4.1.B.0.431 rom (ICS 4.0.4). This module has only been tested on my Ray, and may or may not work with other 2011 Xperia phones. Hope you enjoy this.
hi, i am using your tun.ko for several weeks now and it works perfectly.
any way that you could another tun.ko for ICS?
or do you know where i can find a tutorial "how to..." make a tun.ko? thanks!
How to setup this..
none
I need this too..can Sb help us?
Hello,
I've finally managed to build tun.ko module for Arc / Arc S - and fellow member Jruuu tested it for Xperia Ray st18a / stock ICS and suggested I add a link here too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1669806
No need to change kernels and so on ..
can you also make an overclock module?
Successfully tried the 4.1.B.0.431 tun.ko module on my Xperia Pro with rooted SE firmware.
No more reboots like I had with the "tun.ko installer" modules.

Hello,
Yes, there are two trouble with the "tun.ko installer":
a) they keep the database and the developer doesn't receive any recognition.
b) they did not expect the kernel version to be the same between different releases. They use the kernel version (I assume) to offer, and you actually got the version for Gingerbread which rebooted the phone. This one is specifically made for ICS.

Yes you do have to insmod the module each time after reboot for openvpn connections.
The OpenVPN Settings from play store can help you to load the module automatically before connection so I am not sure why you need to do it manually.

I guess you may have to find some way to add init.d support for your stock rom. Here are a few threads you may refer to but I am not sure if they work with the stock ICS firmware.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1422061

Copied the module to /system/lib/modules and added "insmod /system/lib/modules/tun.ko" (without the quotes) to /system/etc/hw_config.sh
Needed this for Onavo Extend and it works like a charm.

Miui 2.4.27 + siyahkernel 3. Where is the tun.ko module?

Hello,
I've got the phone set up as per the subject with the latest stable of siyahkernel, I just do not seem to be able to get to a suitable tun.ko module to use with the said kernel to let me take full advantage of my vpntunnel services.
OpenVPN client is already up and running on the phone but I understand that you need to have also tun.ko up to fully exploit the vpn.
Any help?

netfilter for mini

Hi folks
ive been searching a lot. i still don't know if the stock kernel supports netfilter/iptables. but i can certainly say proxydroid doesn't work on my mini.
there is already a kernel module for x8/x10mini/pro named ax8netfilter which gives netfilter support to those devices. it would be very nice if a dev port it for mini/pro. is it possible???
nobody home???
You are not smart right, all kernels even stock have netfilter.
X8 had old linux kernel newest xperias have newer so no need for this module.
End of story.

thanx for the reply. so whats wrong? what should i do to make proxydroid working?

What error you got?
Btw it works for me.
Sent from my WT19i using Tapatalk
i don't get any errors. i give it the needed info (ip, port etc) and it connects. the problem is that i cant open any web page after that. exactly the same thing happening on x10 mini with stock kernel.
Try to install orbot and then connect, if u have netfilter problem orbot will tell you,
If the connection done then you have something else wrong
all the stock kernels support netfilter by defult
Sent from my WT19i using XDA
thanx for the tip. orbots connects without any error. again i can't open any web page after it connects. exactly like proxydroid.
BTW now im trying those to apps on generic ICS 4.1.b.0.431
just wait for few days, stock ICS have in-built proxy configuration setting so there will be no use of proxydroid.
are you sure about that? proxy setting with all the configs proxydroid has? https socks auth?
hooooooooooooooooorrrrrrray problem solved finally
my problem was caused by a stupid thing named: Islamic Republic of Iran!!!
i updated to latest version. there is a "http-tunnel" mode which solved my problem.
