I have/use a HiRes Droid X boot screen if anyone is interested. It wraps the word Droid in followed by the round scanning and pulsing Droid Eye. I think it is sweet. Lol.

I am using the boot animation from the nexus forum found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=666959. Is there any way to make the image bigger so that way it fills up more of the screen?
BTW: @Master: Kick ass tutorial! This is much appreciated!

thank you so much for this....
I havent found any roms worth flashing/keeping so i was starting to get bored with my phone, this will keep me somewhat entertained for maybe a week =]

I didn't make that bootanim. I think that guy pendo did.

Thanks for this. But is anyone else having trouble mounting the "system" folder as r/w? I keep pressing the mount button, but it remains read-only.

Custom Boot Animations

For anyone wondering how to replace your bootanimation, just mount your system partition either with Clockwork Recovery or root explorer and push a bootanimation.zip to /system/customize/resource/TMUS_bootanimation.zip
Here are a couple you can use:
My Evo 4g Bootanimation Thread - Sorry some say Evo 4g.
SamJamz BootAnimation Thread
Basically any bootanimation from a phone that is 480x800 should fit just fine.

Do you push the file while in recovery mode? Kinda confused about that part.
Edit: Got it, yep, you have to be in recovery to accomplish this.
Can this be done on non rooted phones? I know it was done on the nexus

Our phones are a little bit different... our bootanimation is located at system/customize/resource and renamed bootanimation.zip to TMUS_bootanimation.zip I did all this thru root explorer no adb required!
just incase, I also copied the original file I was replacing to my sdcard (if ever I wanted to go back)
Hope this helps
Here's one of my favs, R2d2 boot animation. It's already named correctly, just use root explorer, and make sure the permission is right. Ahh, can't upload zip from the app, I will when I get to my cpu
Thanks for this!
I now have a sweet Android (Cyanogen theme - in prep for CM release ) boot animation in place of the lame stock "my" scribble.
Now all I'd like to do for boot is change the stock splash screen. I've found one to use, but the instructions for applying are for the Evo and not sure I want to risk jacking something up if it's not right. It states to use fastboot to flash the splash screen onto the phone, replacing the stock. To those who know - does that sound right? Where is the stock splash located so I can back it up to my sdcard first?
Any pointers appreciated!
it looks like it u have to be permarooted for the changes to stick :-\

I am also in root explorer and went thru the needed folders till I got to bootanimation folder. How do you paste the renamed animation into that folder? (don't want to screw it up) copy from my sd card and paste it into the folder? Do i paste it into the folder and then tap on (mount rw)? Or do I tap on (mount rw) then hit paste. Rookie worried I might screw it up if do it wrong.

[MOD] BIOS Boot Animation - Now for CM 7 too!

As usual, I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.
Requirements:
Rooted myTouch 4G
Android 2.2/2.3
Fingers
Brain
Root Explorer (or similar)
I had a request for a BIOS style boot animation in my splash screen thread. So here is what came up with. I used two different style animations as my base. The first came from frysee, whose N1 BIOS this was modified from. The other came from jeckyll. I used the same style as his animation for the HD2. Both have minor differences from the originals and of course they have the specs from our phones.* These are also very generalized so they can be used with any 2.2 ROM. Enjoy!
Instructions Android 2.2:
Copy/download the animation's zip to your SD card
Open Root Explorer
Rename the file to TMUS_bootanimation.zip (Only for stock/iced glacier. Name may change for other roms. CM 6 it should be bootanimation.zip)
Copy the animation to /system/customize/resources (don't forget to mount the resources folder as r/w before copying)
Done!
Instructions CM 7:
Copy/download the animation's zip to your SD card
Open Root Explorer
Copy the animation from your SD card to /system/media/ (don't forget to mount the media folder as r/w before copying)
Done!
Instructions for copying with Android Commander by neidlinger (see original post here / pictures are in original post)
neidlinger said:
Five easy steps using "Android Commander" Source for Android Commander
Pre-reqs
1: phone
2: drivers to connect your phone to your computer
3: Android Commander
4: brains and the ability to follow directions
1: open Android Commander and make sure you have Root Access, Bottom left corner.
2: Navigate to the target folder, you can use the address bar below the window to get there quickly. IE Gingerbread you'd type in "/system/media/"and it will take you directly to that folder.
3: delete the bootanimation
4: Push the bootanimation to that folder
5: use adb shell to check for animation.
my pictures below are for Gingerbread.
if you screw up your phone, it's your fault.
Click to collapse
You can test your animation by opening a command window and typing
adb shell
bootanimation
exit with Ctrl+C
(This can also be done through the terminal emulator, though I'm not sure how to exit. I tried it and had to use adb to reboot. So I don't recommend doing it this way! )
Also, with the second animation, there was a request for a splash screen that said loading. That is included here as well. Instructions for
flashing can be found in my thread for custom splash screens.
There is also a new splash screen that matches the CM 7 animation. Instructions to flash are the same.
Thanks to jayizzbakk for being my guinea pig for the Android 2.2 animations!
And thanks to macheteZen for all his input and testing for the CM 7 animation!
Downloads are available in the next post.
*If there are any mistakes on the specs of the phone, please let me know!!! I will gladly modify these that way they are perfect!
Here are the downloads.
The boot animation for CM 7 is named bootanimation.zip
CM7BIOSLoad.img is a splash screen for the CM7 animation.
All others are for Android 2.2
wow thats awesome thank you!
i'm interested to so know how to plug these into a AOSP ROM.

The link appears to be broken, does anyone else have the .zip?
Edit: works, awesome thx
this is by far my favorite boot animation, thanks so much for this
i have two questions though, one a lot of times when booting up the animation can lag slightly, is there any tweaks i can do to improve the performance or is this generally how it goes for everyone?
my other question is more of a request actually, I would like the version that you had mentioned that did not have the spinning 3d letters, is that still available somewhere? i didn't see a link
I assume it's because it's loading stuff in the background.
Edit: I just installed it, and yeah, it is noticeable. You can clearly tell where the AT&T Logo is supposed to display because it gets real smooth.
But if you look at the original loader, its noticeable that its also laggy. It's just less because there isn't much to look at. It's like if the Windows 7 boot animation lagged, you can't really notice since there is almost no noticeable difference between frames.
OMG I LOEV YOU NOTACH!! you've answered my prayers! now to dl and try this out
edit: wow looks beautiful man good job!!! still a bit laggy initially i wonder if there are some tweaks i can do
edit2: second and third boots were much faster, but still a bit choppy

Boot animations? Splash screens?

Now that most of us have s-off and custom recovery, we need some customizations to hold us over until the roms start flooding in.

I want that boot animation too
E3D
I'm anxiously awaiting some boot screens tailored for the 3d too. Cant wait
You can use existing boot animations here is how:
Find the one you want and download it
Rename the boot animation to Sprint_bootanimation.zip
Use root explorer to go to /system/customize/resource find Sprint_bootanimation.zip copy it to a safe place
Get back to /system/customize/resource and delete Sprint_bootanimation.zip(in root explorer you have to mount r/w)
Then copy and paste the new Sprint_bootanimation.zip to /system/customize/resource
The stock animation is 540 x 960
I have tried a few and it works fine, but i'll be waiting for some 3d anim.

[CyanoWhite] Touchpad Moboot Theme + Splashscreen + Bootanimation with sound + Wallpaper
Hey I'm New to these Forums.
I'm Ted and i want to share my latest work with this epic community .
The "Package" is called CyanoWhite because of the colors (Cyan and White)
So let's get started :
Installation Guide:
All the Downloadable Files are here : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ei2st8s82ltfwu2/oz8YSXEUqJ
Moboot Theme:
Simply flash the "moboot.theme.zip"
CyanogeMod SplashScreen:
Open the Terminal Emulator and type:
su
mount -o remount,rw /boot
Or Get Root Explorer from market and Click the "Mount R/W" Button on top in the /boot folder
Then Copy/Paste "moboot.splash.CyanogenMod.tga" in /boot
Bootanimation :
Rename the "bootanimation1.zip" to "bootanimation.zip" Then copy paste it to /system/media/
If this doesn't work then Rename it and Paste the zip in /data/local
Now if you want Sound in the bootanimation:
Download "soundatboot.zip" and Flash it via Recovery
Download "bootsnd.sh" and place it in /sdcard
Then open terminal emulator and type
su
cd /sdcard (space after cd)
sh bootsnd.sh
reboot
Finally rename "bootsound.mp3" to "android_audio.mp3" and copy it to /system/media
As For the wallpaper its a simple one use it for whatever you want!
Previews
I've included Previews in The attachments however if you want to preview the boot animation:here

Moboot broken?
toSo I just tried this on my TouchPad, but I no no longer have the ability to boot to anything but CM9. The Moboot screen comes up briefly, but the menu is blank (no WebOS, CM9, CWM, WebOS recovery), and the TP boots directly to CM9. Is there a way to fix this? I would like the ability to choose via Moboot what to boot into. Not sure if I'm making sense, but I'm hoping I didn't bork my TP.

Flash this zip (Thank you Reverend Kyle), It will clear whatever themes you have for moboot, then if u want u can flash a theme.

toSo I just tried this on my TouchPad, but I no no longer have the ability to boot to anything but CM9.

That's because you flashed to many themes without cleaning. Do what Bruce said then reflash and it should work fine
Thank you Bruce

Thank you for the reply sir
Hi Ted, I got everything going except the sound.
It all looks good but, but I'd really like to get sound with the boot,
mainly because they said it couldn't be done.

Same here, everything worked flawlessly except sound. Great job, though! Thank you for all of your hard work! It's nice for everything to have a unified theme.

Hi Ted,
Thanks for sharing this, looks really good. I was wondering if you could make a couple of small adjustments on the CM splash and moboot theme? I would like to use all 3 of your packages but the CM splash and moboot theme files are quite large for the boot folder.
As you may know, the boot folder has a max limitation of approx 30mb, which is very small. The two files I mentioned above total approx 4.5mb, which puts the boot folder at or very near its limit. Even with my boot folder "cleaned out", your files put me over 29mb. This will present issues if/when the CM9 updates get larger and deposit a larger image in the boot folder. It also creates an issue if you've replaced CWM with TWRP, as TWRP is a larger image. I've actually had it happen already with various moboot mods. Generally, it results in bootloops or random reboots of the TP.
So, with all that said, would you be able to reduce the filesize of CM splash and moboot theme, as I'd really like to use all three of your creations. Thanks again.
EDIT: NVM, did it myself with Best Free Image Converter. Thanks.

Do we need to update moboot to do this?
A easier way to install Cyanowhite
Hye all,
I have made a little script to install Cyanowhite moboot and boot animation on one step.
Download the Cyanowhite.zip archive and flash it.
You need to follow the original instructions to install sound. I don't want to put the sound in my script.
If you need to reinstall the original moboot and boot animation use the Boot-original.zip archive.
If you have an error during the flash try again.
Thanks for the theme.
I know that it's possible to change the default boot but I would like to change labels in moboot.
Somebody know how to do it?

Sure is!
Go into /boot & find the uImage files; for example, xxxx.uImage (xxxx being the variable) and change "xxxx" to whatever you'd like it to read.
