[Q] Optimus One N00b - Optimus One, P500, V General

I am lucky and I just won this phone : LG Optimus One, Canadian (850/1900 MHz) version.
I have a few questions.
Is it true that this phone have 512MB RAM?
Are there quality custom roms for this phone?
I saw that there is a custom recovery (for nandroid and such I guess), but is this phone rootable? overclockable?
Is there something else that I should know?
I also have an HTC Hero (with a cyanogen-based froyo ROM which works well). Which one do you think I should keep?
thanks

seems that I anwsered a few of my questions there :

also why isn't JIT enabled by default on this phone?

[Q] Need Help

I'm not sure where to post this sorry if I added an unneeded thread all. However, I needed to know if the Lg Optimus C from Cricket will work using some of the other Optimus Roms such as Optimus V and such. I know they are the same phones different carriers, I also know the source codes have to match for the roms to work (or something like that).
I am asking this question cause I plan on buying the Lg Optimus C, however, I don't want to buy the phone if I can use custom roms and themes and such with the phone. I know I can boot the phone into clockworkmod recovery, Just not sure if there are any custome roms on this site that I can use with the phone that will work with Cricket service.
I do have slight experience using clockworkmod and flashing roms using my Zio M6000 Cricket phone, but haven't messed with an Lg Optimus C at all yet.
Any answers to my questions would be greatly appreceated. Thank you.

CM7 ported to LG optimus C
here is a thread concerning the port of AOSP cyanogenmod v7 to optimus C (that is a gingerbread ROM) if you are interested, that is the only thing i have seen here.

unlocked a lg optimus T situation

I have an LG Optimus T and currently live in the US. However, I want to travel to Asia at the end of this month. Now my question is since my phone already have CM7 on it ( kernel version Thunder G) can I just go get the unlocked code, and put in it? Or do I need to revert back to the original LG STOCK ROM, unlocked it, and do the rooting again. Also, my camera isn't working at all since the day one after I put CM7 in it? Any good ROM so I can use my camera again? I tried camera 360, LG Pro but none of them work. Any "fix" around this. Thank you.
To unlock, I believe you must be on a stock rom.

[Q] best way to root optimus v?

hi everyone. im new to this forum and android and wanted to ask a couple simple quetions. im wanting to root my VM Optimus V but dont really know where to look. can someone recommend me the best and simplest way to root it and over clock it? over clocking is the only thing i really want to do, dont need the fancy roms and things. also, does rooting void your best buy warranty? or is it just installing custom roms? thanx to who ever responds
Where is Dr Notor when you really need him?
SuperOneClick, Franco 1.1 and SetCPU.
And yes, unless you KDZ restore to stock before you RTM it.
optimus v can be rooted using super one click..overclocking? there's so many applications nowdays, as suggested above setCPU, antutu's, system tuner, etc..you may also try setVsel..

if it's an ov with froyo 2.2.2 and zv5 baseband, superoneclick won't work, you have to use gingerbreak.
you have to install a custom kernel with overclock enabled to be able to go over 600 MHz.
newer ov's have a screen from sprint which is incompatible with older custom kernels, you'd currently have to use BobZhome's kernel from IHO roms if you use a gingerbread rom,
or a Xionia kernel (zefie's v13 or v14, which have usb mass storage problems, or drewwalton's xionia redux) with a froyo rom like stock, and xionia also works with gingerbread roms too.
xionia kernels new enough to use are built for the optimus s, and so they have the home and menu keys reversed; you have to use a button remapper with those.
rooting voids your warranty, like was said earlier.
kdz is nearly useless for the optimus v, there is no firmware to flash with kdz except sprint optimus firmware, which will destroy your ability to use data on the virgin mobile network.

[Q] Can Samsung Gravity Smart be overclocked yet? or any new Kernals/Roms?

Hello...I am a Noob here...just reg'd today. The only applicable thread for this phone is basically non active with little to no recent posts so created this new thread for some hopeful help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Q which is actually the exact same phone as the Gravity Smart..it's Canada's version of it..same model. SGH-T589R.. After much work I just found this out today because searching for help on Galaxy Q was useless...
I have rooted the phone no prob with one click and done a lot with app2sd,etc to get more space on the smaller internal mem. Got Rom Manager and have been trying to FLASH ROM's/Kernals but to no avail!
I want to oc this phone as it only has an 800Mhz cpu.. the limited forums I have found about this phone have mixed info about kernals and oc's.. firstly there are only a few roms available for this phone i believe? Some say there are NO kernals for this phone.. is this true? Some say you can oc with only flashing to a different ROM but using the stock kernal and others say this wont work..
I have several oc apps installed but none can go past the 800 yet.
So can anyone help me with this to advise if and where (and how) I can get custom roms or kernals to install? And confirm if I can oc this phone at all and if so on stock kernal or must be flashed?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated even if only redirection to other resources as i have been exhaustingly looking for help on this for days straight...
Thanks

For rooting, just follow the steps here. As for custom roms, haven't seen one yet. Custom Recovery for P690 still has to be verified if it'll work with P698.

I confirm the existing CWM Recovery brick my P698 today. I send it back to LG SC and may get one replacement. Root is OK but NEVER flash recovery.

At last! I tired a new rom in our p698!!
Both run adw launcher is pretty cool. But personally I did not like both. One could see the battery drain in numbers, which was horrifying!
Moreover, has it ever occurred that when you are running a launcher, the phone does not sleep how long it takes or press the power button? It happens to me occasionally, and goes to sleep only if I call the LG home launcher. Does anyone know a way out?

Hey ppl, the rom from borodinka is pretty good. I've been on it and has been running smooth, much better than the stock kernel.

please update us on the custom rom, how smooth is it, and how is battery life and dual sim functionality.
what of the usual delay in making and ending calls?

OK, update on the ROMS i tried...
the one named "borodinka"
pros:
1. the roms are smaller than the stock ones, and hence got a bit more storage space free.
2. Very very smooth. ADW launcher is built in. The whole thing, including menus are smooth
3. Looks like battery life improved a bit. I remeber draining out by night, but now it stays till morining with an overnight charge
4. No Bloatware. ES FIle explorer, MX Player are built in
5. Some kind of a techie font. not sure which one. but good/you'll get used to it.
cons:
1. Phone does not lock initially. Had to install LG Home Launcher from apk i found somewhere else in the forum to get it lock. Same happens initially after every reboot. Looks like something in the LG Home is responsible for sending the phone to sleep or so.
2. no native support for PDFs (very important for me) in ES File Explorer, i wish it was AntTek File Explorer. Both the file manager and the video player are better in the SD Card (which is not possible since it comes shipped with) to save space.
3. Sometimes loses range on either or both SIMs (which was probably there with the stock ROM and thus) might be a hardware issue.
4. Touchpal keyboard seems to have issues lately. Does not show up (and renders the phone crazy) after trying to import contacts. maybe it has to do with the latest update of the app, or lack of storage in my phone.
5. has 4pda app (and that too in german) preinstalled.
6. Default APNs are not available in the apn editing page. Had to enter stuff manually. Had data connection problem once, but got it running after a factory reset.
The other one, the name which skips my mind now, has similar characteristics, which i'll review soon.
Dual sim function works as old. The Cell broadcast widget and the dual sim status widget are unavailable. Range failures are present, i guess, as in most dual sim phones.
