UOT Kitchen works for JK6 [Battery and Status Icons] - Vibrant Themes and Apps

I came across the following post in the i9000 forums:

New tutorial to do it on your own (very easy)..
1. Go to http://circle.glx.nl/
2. Choose your battery MOD (only battery mod, not tested with other stuff)
3. Upload your framework-res.apk (do not rename)
4. The kitchen will give you a zip. Download it and open with 7zip (use only 7zip, and don't extract, just open)
5. Double click framework folder, then double click framework-res.apk (all this from inside 7zip)
6. Now right click your original framework-res.apk (which you uploaded to the site) -> 7zip -> Open with 7zip
7. Now you should have 2 7zip windows open, just drag the "META-INF" folder and the "AndroidManifest.xml" file from the original framework-res.apk, to the modded one.
8. That's it.. Now just close both 7zip windows.. The modded one will ask you if you want to update the framework-res.apk file in the zip, choose yes. Now you can flash this zip via CWM
Let me know if it works for you guys.. Ill add this to the first post then.

I followed these instruction exactly on the new deodexed JK6 rom and it worked perfectly! I had never seen anyone mention before that we could use the UOT kitchen directly, and just thought I'd share. If this is old news, just let the thread die
Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765419
Edit: Added picture and a CWM .zip of the framework I built.
Edit 2: Added battery option images

This framework was built for the deodexed JK6 rom. I make no guarantees of success or failure of flashing to any other rom. Also, of course, if you don't make a backup first and/or don't know how to use Odin to recover, you're on your own.

Thx for the finding. Worked perfectly

I tried it and it works on sXe v3.1!
Sent from my Froyo-powered Vibrant

Glad to hear it's working for you guys. From what I gathered from the i9000 forums, the kitchen should work for any rom we have.

Thanks for posting this it worked perfect on my stock 2.2. I chose the SCB with % Version Z Custom type. Really happy with this since I wanted a true battery percentage reading.

Good find! Thanks for sharing

Anyone willing to upload a stock accurate battery percentage for JK6? Would be great, thanks in advance!

This zip I included is for the stock deodexed JK6 (also includes nicer status icons). If people would like to share their zips for the various roms the get this working on, I'd be happy to include them in the OP to make things easier on others. Please include the following information:
Rom name and version number
Battery mod selected
Status icon set (if any) included
Any other framework mods previously applied

i can't seem to get this to work, i keep getting shtf errors...
anyone want to post a video tutorial or explain to me exactly how i extract my framework apk to the kitchen?? thank you!

How about JL1? I tried another one for JK6 and was getting FC's on the alarm and camera so I think something is going on there with the JL1 modem. Not sure though, but it worked fine till the JL1 modem was installed. Oh and I rolled back to the standard Android icons with JL1 and all FC's stopped so it had to be something with this on JL1.

here is what I drummed up. Very similar to others but I felt that the green needed to be the highest percentage as green is usually denoted with fully charged.
I have this loaded and it is working for me, but as the OP states, use at your own risk and only on deodexed JK6.

The modem shouldn't have hurt anything, been sporting JL1 modem since release along with my same JK6 battery mod for awhile now.
Thanks for the contribution, I'll add it to the OP

Is your framework from a deodexed rom (either deodexed stock or virtually any custom rom)?

Wow, thanks for sharing.
If any one is interested I used this method on stock deodexed JL4 with no problems.

From what I've been able to gather, the .9 PNGs in the framework don't decompile too easily on some heavily themed roms. I wish I could tell you what exactly the reason for this is, but I'm still learning and haven't gotten that far yet

[MetaMorph Theme] - Black Carbon Notification Pulldown -**10/23**

This is my own personally tweaked notification pull down kanged from some other themes and creations by me. I decided to share with anyone who cares, since there aren't a lot of morphs out there. The ROM I currently use this them on is Bionix Fusion 1.1 w/JAC OC/UV/Voodoo with no problems.
Edit: Check out my flashable theme for Obsidian/Froyo here
Description
This theme gives your notification bar and pull-down notification menu a clean white/black look. It comes without any "status bar" notification icons so you can keep the same icons you have already been using.
This is a MetaMorph theme, so you will need to install MetaMorph from the Market and use it to apply this theme.
JI6 Compatible ****Use with JI6 Firmware ONLY****

MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE APPLYING THIS THEME!
I am not responsible for any issues this theme causes. It works perfectly fine on my Vibrant, but no two phones are alike so your experience may differ.
Feel free modify or incorporate this theme in part or whole in your own projects. Most images were compiled from other themes to fit my taste, some were created by me.
Instructions:
Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled. Having it off causes NinjaMorph and MetaMorph to hang for long periods of time with the "applying" message that some of you may be experiencing.
1. Download attached zip, and place it on your SD card.
2. Go into Rom Manager and reboot into Clockwork Recovery.
3. Do a Nandroid backup just in case (I have thoroughly tested this and never had problems)
4. Reboot - once up and running open Metamorph (install from market)
5. Select "unzip/extract new theme"
6. Select "twframework-res.apk" first - click "Apply it!"
7. Select "framework-res.apk" last - click "Apply it!" (may force close, it's ok)
8. After it is finished, reboot.
9. Done, Enjoy.
Big Thanks to:
frostman89 - I found his theme compilation in the Fascinate forums
Mr_Tricorder - For his awesome AllBlack morph
Stericson - obviously for MetaMorph and many more
Sombionix - everything
Eugene373 - everything
WesGarner - everything (and hopefully CM6)
Cyanogen - everything
Everyone else at XDA!!!
Like my work? Buy me some Mountain Dew!
could you make one for frankin-twiz final.... this one works after application i got a few force closes though 8/
It should be compatible, there are no xml files only the .png images are changed. I know metamorph will sometimes FC, not sure why. What is FC'ing for you?

This finally allowed my to view third-party notifications in Bionix 1.7! They were completely blacked out before. No issues with it as of yet. Thanks.
No I i don't think it has anything to do with this mod I added another thing tweaking the battery indicator and some stuff I'm pritty sure it had to do with that.
Thanks this is awesome btw.
Thanks, glad you like it!

when I applied the red one, it force closed and I had a black screen for a few minutes till it started working fine.
When I applied the black one, it asked if I want to reboot. I said yes and I'm fine. There was no fc. I'm not sure if there is a problem w the red one where it doesn't ask to reboot n therefore fc.
I'm running bionix 1.7 w voodoo based on ji6

I noticed in the pics the blue border around the data is removed. Is that part of this morph or something else? I applied the black v2 with the segmented accurate battery mod but the blue border around my data still exists.
Edit: Disregard. It has nothing to do with this morph, its the Bionix Rom OP is running.
These are beautiful man, really well done. I may try and flash over bionix 1.7 later. I was trying to make sense of what you were saying about the icons.. I REALLY like the icons in the pics, are those not included? If not, how do I get them?

I really like your theme. Its dark with a flare of texture.. I love it. I noticed you had an accurate battery theme going on there. I tried do install a batter theme from here, but it made the item background in the notification screen light again and it didnt work to well. Would you be making a battery mod? Just curious.
Thanks
Edit... Fixed
ok, so im stock with latest OTA... meaning I need to use black2.zip?
I tried black.zip and had to restore a backup cause after booting I got FC bombed to where I couldnt do anything at all.
Select "twframework-res.apk" first - click "Apply it!"
This worked.
Select "framework-res.apk" last - click "Apply it!"
It has been "Applying framework-res.apk theme" for the past 5 hours?
I am on JI6 flashed through ODIN v1.3, rooted. Am I doing something wrong or is the framework-res.apk just corrupted? Running latest Metamorph with the latest busybox installed.

Weird, either of them should work for you because the Black v1.2 contains JI6 xml layout files to change the font color to white, the Black v1.1 only contains .png files so nothing should give you issues with that one. They are different looks though. I am working on updating the v.1.1 to look the same as the pics in the OP.

I've tried downloading the files again and it isn't applying just the framework-res.apk, it just sits there saying it is for over 30 minutes now lol. Any help?

Not sure why it's doing that. Which one did you try to morph? I just updated to the new Bionix 1.8 today and flashed the Black v1.2 and it worked just fine. Sorry about having to nandroid restore, it's a pain in the ass but it's what we do i guess.
hmm... well, yeah dosent work for me either.... Please Wait, Applying framework-res.apk theme... first on works fine, but this one never finishes.

[STATUS BAR ICONS] ~UPDATE 1~ GB Reedited

Hi everybody,
Presenting status bar icons.
Icons are a bit futuristic, and not very "android style". Maybe someone will like them
Icons have transparent background, and they will work with all themes for SE Eclair roms, but just in Gingerbread Nexus S Edition theme ( by shivenjuneja), and Black HTC Theme (by draco_ag) cases the icons are full compatible. In other themes cases the the battery stat icon will be updated every 10%. This is about the xml files in framework-res.apk. Not every theme is capable to update battery icon every 1%, sorry... Please notify themes authors, maybe they consider updating.

Icons tested on few themes - working good, even the stock SE framework (but please have in mind the note at the start of this post!).
UPDATE:
- added new icons (shot above)
- corrected old icons by 1px (now they are centered)
- added black status bar background as a bonus (separate install)
Tutorial HOW-TO-INSTALL:
- Open framework-res.apk with 7zip
- Select "res" folder from downloaded archive, and drag him to opened 7zip window
- When prompted "Are sure You want to copy...?" select "YES"
- Close 7zip
- Push framework-res.apk to your phone
Tutorial screenshot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=525089&stc=1&d=1298451316
Please have in mind, that it's the only fast, and safe method. Don't try to update framework-res.apk another way, or You get a bricked phone after pushing file to system folder!
If You aren't sure how to do this please ask. Asking don't cost, and can protect from messing up Your phone!
The safest way to push framework-res.apk to Your phone is using ADB Mask Controller. When You f*ck up Your phone is always a chance to get back with this app. Please be careful, and read everything before You try to install!

nice man .... gud work .... u made them??
Yep, few hours ago. Can't sleep
Nice ^^
Finally something FRESH...
This can be done with stock SE framework? :>
Dzięki
Probably yes. Can't see why not, tho I can't test it.
nice man my fone looks gud now.... mind sharing your launcher pro dock icons??
I release them later today as a big pack. Around 09:00 PM GMT+1.
^^
And it's looking good with stock theme too...
Thanks!
EDIT//
Sorry, it's changing...
EDIT2//
It's changing, but only every 20%... 40, 60, 80 etc... now I've got 74% and it's showing 80%... :>
Now I'm charging my phone to max, and try to reboot a few times...
@lamenomore
Hmm... I think shivenjuneja can tell us more on that issue here. His theme is capable for 0-100% battery info in status bar. Maybe some xml file is responsible for that? The stock SE framework has only couple of battery icons, so it figures why it's a problem. First I thought that is just a matter of files in the framework: 0-10-20-...-100%, or 0-1-2-...-100%, but now I'm confused :/
I think it was just a dumb idea to put this into stock framework...
Well, it's working for sure... but with modded framework...
I'll wait till someone put this into some theme ^^
Really like this icon pack! ^^
Heh, maybe not so dumb Altho stock FW is so f... ugly ^^
It works fine with shivenjuneja's Gingerbread Nexus S Edition theme, I'll test it with other themes, and maybe find out why it's not fully compatible with stock FW. I'm diggin' it's about some xml file, but not sure... Searching xda right now.
EDIT: Got it... testing, and will update.
EDIT2: Not possible to modify in simple way any theme, that it can update battery icon every 1%. The whole thing is about "stat_sys_battery.xml", and "stat_sys_battery_charge.xml". XML files can't be updated via simple drag-n-drop method
Great stuff mate, I dont think its dumb, it looks freaking awesome. Will try it tomorrow thou goin to sleep now lol

Yes, but it can't be done in ease way, like drag-and-drop. So it's basicly disqualifying icons to be moded quick and whitout problems by anyone on any theme

Looooking Gooood
And working properly ^^
Thanks again!
Glad it works for You And thanks for the credit!
Honestly?
You need to make Your own theme...
Look at my screenshot...
See the diffrence between Your icons and those from the theme? Yours are more 'sharp'...
Just my 2cents ^^
Well, thx. I must say this... I have many ideas, but theres one problem.
I just don't know how to properly compile framework-res.apk... :/
Decompile - YES
Ideas for theming - hell YES!
Editing - YES
XML's - YES
.9 PNG's - YES
Compile - NO...
Someone would say "learn!", but every tutorial, every tip... I always get error, and finally end up with bricked phone. Tho it's not a problem, but I'm just tired of trying ;/

MIUIWiz
***we are not responsible for anything that happens to your phone***
*if you want a phone with absolutely no problems....a "bugless beast" if you will...dont flash roms...not every rom/kernel combo works for every phone..so dont complain*
First and foremost the vast majority of the credit goes to andmer and sbrissen. Andmer got the miui launcher and other apks working with touchwiz...which is an incredible accomplishment and sbrissen for all his mods to the phone, including the MIUI lockscreen, which has been out for awhile now but obviously fits the project well.
Ok so what is MIUIwiz?
*It is a combination of several features of MIUI and our regular old sammy touchwiz.
*Since the launcher is such a major part of what makes MIUI what it is...you will notice that much of the feel of MIUI carries over to this.
*GOcontacts has replaced our regular dialertabactivity.apk as its more MIUI-like and the Miren browser has replaced our regular samsung browser.
*GOSMS is included..but regular mms.apk has also been packaged in for those who have issues with GOSMS
*OTB 1.3 has been packaged in to the ROM as it seems to be the most compatible with the most peoples phones...feel free to flash whatever voodoo kernel you want immediately after flashing the rom before booting though.
*aosp filemanager instead of myfiles built from source
*miui/gb touchwiz themed
*MIUI music instead of tw or aosp music
*no accurate battery atm (there will be soon enough)
*MIUI icon theming...basically similar to a metamorph or cm7 theme engine in that it replaces images/icons...but in this case the system icon for an apk without editing the apk
*MIUI camera/camcorder instead of tw
*aosp deskclock (will add clockpackage in as optional download)
*stock android keyboard (instead of gb kb in com rom) from MIUI
*MIUIWiz is based off of Ultimate Kangbang 1.3 (com rom) so it includes TSM Parts, as well as adrynalynes numerous under the hood mods.
Why use another rom as a *base* I thought that was lame?
*originally this was a theme/mod combo...but do to issues with data wipes (you needed to wipe for the launcher to work right, yet it caused other problems if you did) it was found to be most compatible in rom format
*since com rom is a TSM release and this is too...its not lame kanging...we are just using what we already have a starting point!

Q and A
(updated from thread, so you dont have to dig through)
*Q: Is this the same as the test builds?
A: it is updated from the latest test build, but if you are happy with that, by all means stick with it
*Q: What keyboards are included
A: swype 2.29 (same as com rom) unthemed; stock android keyboard from miui; samsung keypad
*Q: Is accurate battery mod included?
A: Not yet...i neglected to make that so far...but I will soon (semi-promise)
A2: you can always enable battery percentage in TSM parts...its just numerical percentage, no themed batteries though
*Q: Can I use patches from com rom/superclean?
A: Yes, although some may be differently themed (gb or otherwise)...and superclean ones would be in amend, and not work on cwr 3.0+
*Q: Is MIUI weather included?
A: no. do to the complexity of MIUI weathers' databases the app is divided up by region...so you ll have to get it from here with the appropriate apk...or if you have fancy widget pro, the miui skin mimics it very well
*Q: Is this is based off of com rom, then why do we have to wipe data?
A: even though this is *based* off of com rom, the framework-res.apk, android.policy.jar, services.jar, and framework-jar have been heavily modified to work with the miui launcher2.apk...if you dont wipe...best case scenario is you loose sensor orientation and the phone wont rotate in your apps...worst case tons of acore force closes and app crashes
*Q: Will com rom/ed01 themes work on this?
A: no, you will most certainly bootloop...the changed apks/jars wont take...and MIUIWiz uses MIUI icon theming as well (think metamorph/theme engine built into the rom flash for sys icons)
*Q: I cant boot, whats going?
A: Could be you didnt wipe data, etc...do that
A: Could be you didnt convert to ext4 on another kernel before flashing this rom/kernel package (this otb kernel will not convert)....try flashing one of jts 4/15 voodoo kernels first
*Q: Where can I get MIUI wallpapers from?
A: they are actually built in! The TW Wallpaperchooser has been edited to include them.
Looks awesome can't wait to try it out!
Thanks for your development!

no, tw mms has been added back in, some theme fixes...and tw (themed gallery3d added back in
but if you are happy with the last test build you should be fine
Looks beautiful. Thank you
Hopefully I can get this download to install. Looks great. Thank you.
EDIT: Still cannot install this rom. Odin CWM 3 (blue), wiped everything, and flashed only to get stuck at Samsung logo.
Am I suppose to take another step? Tried OTB 1.2 & 1.3 without success. Heck, I even tried Jt's 4/15. I can flash all other Edify roms without any problems.
Very nice nitsuj, thanks!
Is there a version of swype installed?
What is this MIUI-Wiz you speak of !!?! ... in nitsuj we trust...
Edit: MIUI-Wiz is slick! Nitsuj and TSM... this rom is so good., makes me wanna slap a baby!
Wow! This is an extremely impressive rom guys. I loved the miui rom but couldn't deal with all the bugs. This is really amazing. Great work!
Thank you sir and your team.
downloading this tonight, cnat wait to give it a shot!

This looks very impressive, I love the look of this. I can't wait to get home and try it. Is there going to be an accurate battery version?

[MOD][v6]AIO Framework Mod + BatteryIcon(by jjdoctor)

Hi guys, just want to share the following tweak.
First, i want to say thanks to the following:
1. AndroidOn for Volume Stepping and Disable Scrolling Cache
2. untermensch for Reboot Menu tutorial
3. D.O.C For smooth spinner tutorial
Thanks guys!
Additional thanks goes to Soheil_rf for his battery mod import to Ray's framework.
This mod contains this improvement based on firmware .42, but it is compatible with .62 firmware. Nevertheless if any issue arises, please report back:
1. Reboot Menu - Based 100% from Ray's framework so all Ray's function still works!
2. Volume stepping - Enable 30 stepping for our Ray while listening media file
3. Disable Scrolling Cache - Improve List View smoothness while scrolling
4. Battery Icon Mod - View Percentage directly from Battery Icon
5. Battery Persistent Lock Screen Mod (Only for Mod with Stock battery) - For those who want to have default stock battery but still want to utilize the Lock Screen Battery Info to give the percentage information even without charging.
6. Smooth Spinner Animation(Currently Only for Mod with Stock battery) - Smoother spinner while loading an app (for example XDA app)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
How to install:
Download the file:
With Battery Mod here
OR
Without Battery Mod + Lock Screen Battery Status + smooth spinner here
Reboot to CWM recovery
flash the zip from CWM recovery
reboot

No it won't. The scrolling cache is only a small portion of the tweak and it's not too frequent in web app, only for setting pages, so you won't notice battery drain (if at all)
Nice mod, but would it be possible to incorporate the modded battery icon with percentage into this? That would be perfect.
Nice idea but I quite like the default icon actually. you might extract the files from my mod here, and go To uot kitchen that chiefy009 posted earlier and you can choose the style you like and upload it, bam!

I also like the default icon, but there is THIS mod that adds the percentage number to the icon and it looks perfectly integrated. If I wasn't a total noob when it comes to making things I'd do it myself (I assume it's just a matter of combining some code and adding all the files into one mod), but unfortunately I can't.
Can you at least tell me if there is a way to have both the 30 steps AND that battery icon mod?

Ok thanks for the link. Make sure you thank him on that thread. To download please check the first page.
Hi,
Could you explain this mod please ?
Volume stepping - Enable 30 stepping for our Ray while listening media file
I don't understand what it means.
Otherwise, could you post a screenshot of the battery's style ?
Thanks.
Instead of 15 clicks to get max volume, you must do 30 clicks to get there with this mod. So you have much better control. Battery style, please read the creator page posted at the first page. It is the same thank you.

Hello there, Wow you got that problem eh? :-/ It is because of NullPointerException error happening. but it should not be there at the final release.. Let me offer you my currently working version direct from my phone. Download here. I hope this one works because it works on mine.
Will this work on the MIUI or CM7 roms?

Reverting to Stock Battery
In case you don't like the battery mod, here are the stock battery for both Odexed and Deodexed versions to revert to to stock.
Thank you very much for this! Nice to be able to tweak the statusbar a bit.
Could you also post the original battery icon and clock in case we would like to revert? EDIT: you beat me to it lol
And besides this I'm wondering if it's possible to have JB icon pack and colour for battery, signal, date and time etc. So it would be more like a JB statusbar I know you're a Sense man but it wouldn't hurt for the ones who like the stock Android looks.

You have to point me to how it look actually and will see if I can do anything about it. But a full status bar requires more than one apk mod, it involves some framework modification.

Thank you for replying this fast. The stock JB-statusbar looks something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

}
I know we have to edit SystemUI.apk to change the clock and date text colour in res/layout/statusbar.xml, at least this worked in ICS. Replacing the icons might be done with 7zip. In the past I tried to change the Sense (ICS) notification bar to stock ICS and this worked more or less. Replacing the battery icons to the ones with numbers like you posted caused me trouble. However I would like to try the same trick for JB. If you could point me in the right direction it would be great.

What you said is correct.. you can try it first as it works the same principal for both ICS and JB. About the battery problem, you can use any of the SystemUI.apk with 1% battery increment then replace all the 204 battery icons. If you want with no %, then use the stock SystemUI.apk, there are 36 icons and only change those with green color.
You give it a try, any problem shoot me a PM with your work and I'll try to fix it.
can't make it working on Sense.Revolution+.R2 Rom (which has some childish status bar icons in my opinion).
flashed several zip files from above, but the statusbar it's like before. every operation was successfully done...
idk where i mistake...
back to a not so good solution : statusbar+ (which takes half of the clock after scroll) until i get a better one from your part.
ps: dalvik cache cleaned... still no.

As you can see at post #4, these mods are meant for Stock Odexed/Deodexed ROMs and also work for my custom ROM myONEdx+.
It may and may not work on any other ROMs.

Thank you ckpv5 ! I thought that will work also for the rom i've flashed but i wasn't sure if i have to change other things or not.
The roms (yours and sense revolution) sounds quite the same ...also i've seen ur name somewhere there... so my hope to flash new status bar was bigger.
