Excellent GTab Case from REI - G Tablet Accessories

All,
I picked up this case from REI the other day for my GTab. Most cases cost around $30, but this one blows the others away IMHO. It has an internal pocket for the tab within the case for added protection, and fits the width of the tab perfectly.
There is also an outside pocket for your MiFi or granola bar or whatever else you feel like putting in there. Built very well, with absolutely NO chemical odor of any kind.
Highly recommended!

The one from Sears is an excellent fit with and extra zipped pouch. $5.99! go get one.

Man purse for Gtab

So I had this old swiss army slim vertical messenger bag that I got from target years ago for $20. It was used to lug maps, water, and camera while touring italy, but now re purposed to lug my new gtab. I also picked up an even smaller one from Ross for $9 the other day. Both have 2 large main compartments with the smaller front compartment full of little pockets, clips, and zippered areas for nicknacks. The cool thing about this new man bag is that the rear compartment is actually padded (it didn't say it was for netbooks or anything) and it fits the gtab like a glove - like it was specifically made for it...

That's a good looking bag. Not as much "man-bag-esque" as some of the other bags I've seen folks here posting. When I need a bag I've been using my Targus CityGear Netbook Bag.
On my last trip to Italy 3 years ago I got my wallet pick-pocketed while exiting a subway car in Rome. I knew the moment I stepped onto the walkway that my wallet was gone. Ended up wasting a whole day on the phone with my credit card companies to cancel the cards and to have them express ship replacements to me in Florence and then dealing with my bank to wire me cash. It sucked. That event forever tainted Italy for me. Since then I've avoided Italy like a rash and instead enjoyed the rest of western europe.
That's a good bag too. I tend to like the more vertical ones because they stick out less and you don't bump people as much in crowded situations, but you have to dig down further to get little stuff at the bottom. That sucks about loosing your stuff. We had been warned about pick pockets and used those slim necklace wallets that you wear under your shirt for money, credit cards, passports, etc and a cheap decoy wallet with monopoly money in my back pocket. I guess we looked like bums, cause no one stole it...
I've been using a Timbuk2 D-Lux Messenger bag for the last several weeks. It's a little bit pricey (about $90) but it is made in the USA, and it feels REALLY solid. On top of that, it has all kinds of cool features, like a cinch clip for the strap, so you can easily tighten the strap up so it's not constantly bouncing off your backside, and a retainer strap that goes around your side, so it stays in place on a bike. I keep my G-Tablet, some big Sennheiser can headphones (I'm an audio technician), snacks, pens, extra cables, etc. in mine.
Here's a link: (Mine is the black/grey/lime scheme)
http://www.amazon.com/Timbuk2-Strip...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1303417129&sr=1-1
Edit: Mine is the small size, which still has a decent sized main compartment. The laptop slot is where I keep the G-Tab, and there is plenty of room for it there, since it is designed for a 13" laptop.

I have the Targus bag mentioned above and I like it. It holds the G-Tab perfectly and has a second compartment for a book or papers as well as other pockets. It works well and is inexpensive. Not the most stylish though.

Where did you get the Ross $9 bag ? Can you post a link. I'm assuming that is the one that fits the Gtab like a glove?
Sorry, I don't have a link to the one at Ross. My local store just happened to have it next to a bunch of discontinued computer bags and iPad cases for $8.99
this is a better picture of it when fully stuffed, but I certainly saved a lot by rummaging through Ross...

This is what I use for my man purse:
http://www.irvsluggage.com/David-King-Distressed-Leather-Laptop-Messenger-Bag-Brown/DK-B-6111
Pricey, but I love the distressed leather look, and it's extremely sturdy.
I also have the Targus bag mentioned above, works great and lots of room for other stuff. I originally bought it for my gateway netbook, which is now for sale since I love my gTab so much
still a man-purse if I'm not a man? ... yes, I think so.
I am using a "FINATEX EXTRA SMALL - Multimedia Vertical Messenger" from Tucano, and really like it.
The padded and fuzzy-lined pocket fits the naked gtab well. (If cased, would fit fine in un-lined area.)
Very slim bag, but I can squeeze a cased kindle 2 in there also in a pinch.
Standout feature: handles earphone cord to an mp3 player extremely well.
tucanousa.com/PhotoDetails.asp?ShowDESC=N&ProductCode=BFITXS-C
Pros:
+ very slim vertical form
+ quality materials, well constructed, excellent stitching
+ earphone cord from mp3 pocket snakes up inside strap
+ I thought the $35 price was good in light of the quality & 'look'
+ available in black, coffee, or red (the red struck me as more feminine) all the same size, despite the confusing descriptions on the website.
Cons:
- smaller zippered area has only the small mp3 pocket to help organize the slim vertical space. no other pockets or loop attachments for wallet, keys, pen, etc. can be a bit awkward/snug since it's only accessible from the top.
- slim flat shape does not accommodate bulky items well. (However, the charging brick fits fine, especially if I un-clip the plug.)
This is not a 'kitchen sink' bag by any means, but is excellent for carrying the essentials... including the gtab of course!
By way of example... what's in my bag today:
1. large zippered section has room to spare: gtab, lens-cloth in pouch, (no charging brick today...)
2. small zippered section is fairly full with: wallet, 3x5"-ish moleskin notebook, cell phone (in mp3 pocket), house key, random girl-stuff
3. water bottle holder is clipped to the external loop. my giant supplemental keyring clips here too on the rare day I need to carry it.

Love the look of this! And thinking leather might be the way I want to go. Is it too big for the gtab? I want a serious man purse that fits my gtab and a few other odds and ends (phone, portable charger, hdmi cord, pens).

- Wondering if this one would be big enough. Hoping to go check it out in person as this website looks to have stores in my area!
I went w/ a folio case w/ a built in stand and that $5 neoprene case that was at target or something. Folio cases are the way to go.
Man Purse for GTab
It's A Satchel!
I have an old bag that used to hold a now non-functional cordless screwdriver case that fits the Gtab well. Not nearly as nice as some of those listed here but the price was right and it does the job. It is certainly "manly" enough with the "Black and Decker" logo emblazened on the side. Haha.
Man Purse, LOL.

Just got this for an upcoming trip. Fits the GTab like a glove. Handy side pocket works great for my G2.
I've loved this topic. I ended up getting the Swissgear bag with a sling type strap from Target. It fits the Gtab perfectly. I'm using it as a purse (I'm not a man) and on days I want to take the tab with me, I just slide it in the back zippered pocket and take it on the go,

Very nice/inexpensive neoprene case

Posted this in the "cases" thread, but figured i would make a separate one for everyone to see.
for anybody looking for a very nice/inexpensive case, i highly suggest the one i just received today.
I just bought this case on eBay the other day and could not be happier. It's an all black generic neoprene case with handles and the inside has a very soft felt material. Its not bulky at all, but has some good padding compared to other neoprene cases i have seen. It does not look or feel cheap it all.... I was pretty surprised on the build quality mainly because of the price.
Not only does the tablet fit great, i have the tablet connected to the dock and it fits PERFECT.
also has a side pocket on the inside for cables/charger, which is also made from the felt material.
This shipped very fast....and right now its only $5.99 with free shipping....with that price, cant really go wrong.
here is the link for anybody interested.

Nice. You're right for the price, its hard not to buy. I just ordered one. I figure, if I want to keep this and the dock in good shape, even with a hardcase on it eventually, I better have something like this on hand.
Now to find a bag to start carrying around to put THIS into. something of a man-purse.
Just bought it - it's a very nice price. I hope it's as good as you say
Ordered one too, these cheap neoprene sleeves are nice. When I had the iPad 2, I also ordered a $5 neoprene sleeve with zipper and it was really good.
BUMP for 5 more available at the moment. just in case anybody missed it.
Just received mine yesterday. It's a very nice case for $7, but it feels tight width-wise (seems like it was designed with the ipad in mind). The inside is made of a soft plushy material and there is a small pocket for any accessories. I like the handles, and it feels large enough to accomodate the dock (I don't have the dock yet).
Gone. Just missed it. Any others like it?

Thanks! I grabbed one a couple days ago on your recommendation and it just showed up today...definitely a great little bag/sleeve! Between this and the $5 wire "book" holder I just bought on Amazon, I've got a stand and case for about $11! I'd like to get a nice sleeve or portfolio at some point (maybe in a couple months when we have more options at a decent price), but for now I'm very happy...
bump for anybody who missed it. listing back up.

Sleeve that fits the transformer best

I just got a transformer last week and I really don't like any of the folio cases available but want to have some kind of protection for when I throw it in my bag. So I was looking into sleeve cases on amazon but reading the reviews people were saying they didn't fit too well, having 1-2" of space so it moves around a lot. Are there any sleeves out there that are specifically made for the transformer or at least fit it decently?
Hmm, maybe I'm cheap but for that, I'd probably just pad it with a towel or a custom cut piece of foam.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
I have this one. Fit the TF perfectly + some pockets for accessories.
http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/s...aoid=20715&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=QB459AA#ABL
the asus transformer is 27.1cm by 17.7cm I believe and surprisingly when I was looking for cheaper opinions on ebay it was the cheap as chips option that seemed to be sized as best 'fitted' for the asus's dimensions (in my opinion at least)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150672438...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_3393wt_1085
I suppose if it works for what a person needs it for don't knock the 'cheap as chips' ness factor of it!

That's exactly what I was looking for, you have that case then?
I bought this one. Fits perfectly. Adds a zipper side pocket for the charger. Handles have velcro to keep the together. Has 2 plastic pouches inside made for SD cards. The handles come in handy if carrying other things.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Neopr...ltDomain_0&hash=item4cfbac6575#ht_1902wt_1189
Plus it is super cheap. The quality is about 8/10 as the zippers are just a little tough. For the price it can't be beat.
@ FlyingToilets - yes, I've just bought that one as extra extra protection - you can't really going too wrong with something that costs 2 quid
I've also bought this one as a main case (http://www.yourpoetic.com/android-t.../black-slimbook-asus-eee-cases-and-covers.asp) for about £13 at amazon as the main case (the other case I plan to house the asus+portfolio case and a stylus)
I really wanted to get this one (http://www.yourpoetic.com/android-t...ducts/black-red-asus-eee-cases-and-covers.asp) but it is a bit too much in the uk currently
I've only just ordered these so I don't know how good they will be but I'll try and let you know when they arrive!
I got this one for my Transformer and I love it!
Blurex (cant post links yet), just google blurex asus transformer case
Its slim, fits nicely, and feels great. It also lets me easily attach the keyboard while its open, but its not quite large enough to close around while the keyboard is attached and closed, which I don't really mind.
I just picked up a Transformer on Friday night, so just wanted something cheap for the time being to carry it in. There was a sleeve in the Best Buy ad today so I decided to pick one up. I'm very happy with it for $6.
I can't post links yet, but either look at the BB ad or search their website for "HP sleeve" and you'll find it.
I bought that el-cheapo ebay case.
1) Fit - it fits the transformer very well indeed. The long dimension is just right, absolutely would not want to be any less as it's a bit tight to flip the lid on. The short dimension is just fractionally more than would be a really tight fit, but it's so close that you really could regard it as made for the transformer (tab only, I doubt it would fit with the dock).
2) Finish - not so great. Seriously, what do you expect for the price? Within about 3 days some stitching gave way on the red piping , leaving it coming loose from the neoprene. I have repaired it by hand as at the price it really is not worth arguing it out with the seller.
3) Both of the above combine to mean that you need to be careful putting the case on and taking it off your tablet, as it's easy to pull the lid too hard and potentially break some stitching as you stretch the lid over the end of the tablet.
Overall... I am looking for a messenger bag style case for my transformer (and not liking anything I've seen except a couple of crumplers that, as much as I love their products, I am not prepared to pay for. In the meantime, this sleeve provides excellent value for my tablet around the living room and in my laptop bag.

Ive got one of these coming for mine.
I wanted an EVA case yet not too huge/heavy. The strap/handle seems flexible so it can securely "sling" for a bike/skate trip, but also carry like a briefcase.
I also like the added room (sunglasses, wallet, possibly charger).
I'll give a review once I get it and have some hands on experience.

I've seen the CaseCrown up close and personal. My buddy bought it for his Galaxy Tab 10.1. Nice case, well designed and constructed. For the price I think you'll be happy.
I've got the Targus case and love it. It's got 2 compartments so it'll fit both the tablet and dock separately or together.
Timbuk2 Quickie Carry Bag- real nice!
Picked up one of these (Size Small) from amazon and it is real nice as a small tablet bag for the Prime, with full shoulder strap. A little pricey, but Highly recommended. Great build construction with lifetime warranty to protect the prime, and 2 side pockets for the charger and phone. It's smaller than it looks in the picture- just a little larger than the tablet itself
Insulated very well inside with well constructed bubble membrane foam, to protect the tablet from vibrations.
My Prime has a leather case and it fits great inside this bag !!! A nice compromise between a sleeve and a full size laptop bag, with still a good amount of room for charger and cable! I think the Prime with the Keyboard dock should fit nicely too!

Wish they made one that would fit a 8.9 tablet!
It doesn't look like it can support the tab in viewing mode. It looks kind of nifty if you like that kind of look, but otherwise is limited as a case.
True, if you want to set it on a desk or table this is not the case for you.
My dock at home takes care of that for me.
This case lets me put it in my bag fairly protected, and yeah I really like the style. I can feel all sophisticated while I play Angry Birds.
Interesting! I'm also using a Verso (Kindle Fire) case for my 7.7. Gorgeous case and fits surprisingly well.

You should post a picture of the tab in it...
Yes, please post pictures. $40 is a bit much to take on just word.
After doing some online research about this case I decided to give it a try.
I had this cover on for a few weeks and was overly pleased on how it looked and felt. It is indeed a tight fit. You have it squeeze the tab into the strap, very carefully. The top right strap will press down on the power button so you have to be careful there.
I had more than a few people comment on it. It is very stylish, functional and it does not look like you are carrying around an electronic device, especially something as expensive as our tablet.
I did not have any issues other people are claiming with this case. It fits very well with our tablet. It lies flat so the top does not bulge out. That was my main concern about the case.
HOWEVER, this is a huge one, the inside pocket where you can either store documents or use it as a handle, caused an indentation on my screen - a burn-in mark. I did not notice it until I changed my lockscreen to a white/light background.
I then noticed it whenever I had a non dark background in that section. I ran a screen test and sure enough, there is the burn-in outline of where the inside pocket forms.
I took a picture, hopefully it will come out clearly.
So beware if you are going to purchase this case. If it wasn't for the burn-in, I would have highly recommended it.
Wow, thanks for the warning. I double checked my tablet and I don't see that mark but I might see if I can use something to remove that extra pocket since I don't use it.
I have been using the official Samsung 7.7 book cover case since I got a good deal on it. Didn't know how nice of a case that is!
Like the look but not a fan of the flip case with no zipper. I can just use the sleeve in that case. Got myself a brookstone case. Love it.
