It disconnects from GSM network (and I can't connect it again) - Optimus One, P500, V General

Sometimes my phone just disconnects from gsm network and when I try to reconnect manually I get
"unable to connect to this network at this moment"
Putting Aero mode on/off doesn't help, the only way to "fix" it is to reboot. It happens like once a day and the problem is that I can't find a way to troubleshoot it.
I didn't install any task killer, just removed some bloatware from the stock rom (rooted).
Any Idea ?
thanks

I have same issue. Sometimes have no signal. Have broken simcard. Another one have no problem.

but if it was a sim issue why just after a reboot it works again? it instantly locks to the network after I reboot it

I have the same problem...sometimes no signal. I don't think that is a sim card problem beacuse my sim is quite new (less then 1 year) and work great on a nokia 5800

Do you believe I may understand something reading adb log ?
(I'll try when home)

didn't fix mine.
I had been able to put phone in "airplane" mode, reboot and get wifi to work. now that doesn't seem to be working...
Really irritating when I am overseas and not going to be back on a us network anytime soon... I was reading on the motorola forum, when it was working, that the issue may have something to do with the phone not registering with the correct network... IDK the validity of that though.
I had the same issues before. It is related to sprint software. The best way is to have the phone rooted and then use titanium backup to freeze an app called sprintomaden or since you are using gsm you can delete all sprint related software in system/app. I am sure you will have no further problem.

Mobile data bug

I have a severe bug on my Razr (europe no brand)n reboot (from shutdown or hibernation) i cannot enable mobile data (via 3g/2g connection). The apn list result totally empty (but is not deleted: with apn manager i can see all apn)
The only way to re-enable is to set airplane mode, restart the phone and disable airplane mode.
I cannot identify the source of problem.
I had this problem sometime with stock firmware (but i had sometime also force close in android.phone service on boot). Now i've installed the leaked OTA 651.150.1.XT910.Retail.en.EU : the android.phone process force closa are fixed, but the mobile data are "disabled" (as described) on almost all reboot.
Any suggestion? (i have already made two hard reset whitout results)
If you had this problem while fully stock a bad sim card comes to mind... just my guess.

It could be this, I was having the same for a few hours after my service was moved to the micro sim, losing 3g, roaming to fallback 2g network etc but it settled and is fine now. I put it down to something taking time on the sim registration.
Now to figure out why my connection is 0.2mb download but 1.2mb upload speeds.

I had the exact same thing happen to me for the first few times I ran Speedtest. I think the app may not be 100% compatible. Although it works fine now. Play around with different servers and shake the app up a bit.
All problems are solved after flash the 2.3.5 sbf with rds lite: the leaked ota is bugged :-(

Galaxy s2 switch 3g/2g voice drop issue! :(

Hi everybody.
Got my brand new GS2 and I have this problem.
When I make a phone calls, after few second, the phone switch between 3G and 2G (and this is normal, all my phones do this).
What is not normal is that this switch between 3g and 2g causes a 1/1.5 second voice drop, so that I often miss the "hello" or the first words of the other person talking to me, and I always have to ask people to repeat what they've said. Very, very annoying if you receive 10-15 calls every day.
I've tested a Nokia N86, Nokia C3-01, a SonyEricsson, and all of them do the 3G/2G switch immediately after a make a call, but it's instantaneous and I don't miss a single word.
Tested other phones/sim card/areas and the GS2 seems to be the only phone that switch 3G to 2G so slow.
I've 2.3.4 (last available in my country) and Vodafone, and no other issue apart this though.
Any help please?
nobody?
From your network settings, set it to GSM only and see if it still happens. If it does it may not be related to the switch.
Sent from my GT-I9100
I've tried it. If I force the phone to 2G of 3G this doesn't happen. But I have to keep the phone in dual mode, is necessary to me.
The issue is certainly related to the 2G/3G switch, I can see it watching the signal bars in the upper part of the display.
i also had a problem with internet and calls.
Whenever i made a call, my h+/3g changed to g (i dont even know what that is, edge?)
after the phonecall it stayed on g unstill i restarted or went into airplane mode which really sucked!!!
But this is how i fixed it, and it might also fix your problem: download greenpower and let greenpower disable the internet while you make a phonecall!! Now i have no problems anymore
If you have rooted, flashing new rom could fix your problem

Connection hanging on data network

Hi all,
I've had this extremely annoying problem for ages and I don't believe it's only related to the SGS3 (I had this on my SGS2 as well, probably should post in a more general forum but w/e) and it seems to be when I'm at work only so could just be confined to an area but constantly throughout the day my data connection just stops working.
What happens is:
Data working fine ---> I don't get any notifications for a while (whatsapp, etc) ---> Check phone and all I see on the HSDPA icon is every few seconds the upload arrow lights up then goes off, over and over...
The only fix is to restart my phone, I can try to switch data off then on but that takes a lot longer as the phone can't disable data quickly and turning it back on takes forever; same applies to trying to get the phone in Airplane mode.
I've only had this problem in Westminster but it's just so frustrating because it keeps happening over and over and I have tried so many solutions (new modem, new kernel, formatting various different areas of my phone) but since I started having this problem with a different phone I'm at a complete loss...
Any help will be very appreciated.
Thanks!
I've pinpointed the same issue (or at least one with identic symptoms) to 2 different problems
- one specific cell antenna had issues with fast dormancy, it kept forgetting the connection. Disabling fast dormancy helped somewhat but since the issue was on network-side it only really got better when they finally checked+upgraded the antenna (it was offline for half a day)
- my provider keeps pushing apn settings with a terribly slow and broken proxy.
Removing it brings the network to full speed. If you have no proxy configured or cannot remove it, try using a VPN network to see if it gets better.

I think it's the former, I've configured the APN myself before and it's still been an issue. I hadn't thought about it being the cell antenna, I think I might call O2 and inform them because it's so irritating.
Wish I could give you more than just a thanks!
Thanks!
Memory recalls O2 are updating to Fast Dormancy in the South .
FD toggle on off app now on the market .

Hey, thanks for the heads up. Should I just switch fast dormancy off for the time being then?

Redmi note 3 pro network issues

I've purchased Redmi Note 3 Pro a few days ago. I'm satisfied with overall of the phone but there is one problem I'm facing.
After I quit airplane mode(every night I turns on airplane mode before sleep then turns it off in the morning), my phone won't detect the network most of the time, sometimes it detects the network but it took way too long to happen but still, it acts like there's no network. I couldn't call, sms, receive call, receive sms and use mobile data. Everytime I have to restart my phone to detect the network.
Is there any ways to fix this problem ? It irritates me a lot as I have to restart my phone everyday.
update your phone, this issue has been solved about a month ago
Yeah the new builds are much beter
Hi guys,
I also have network problems on my Note 3 Pro - but without airplane mode. My phone just randomly looses internet connectivity, sometimes completely, sometimes it drops to Edge, most of the times with a warning about roaming and data connectivity. And yet sometimes I completely loose mobile signal but a on/off airplane mode fixes it.
It's pretty irritating, I didn't have these sort of problems with my prev. phone, and I haven't visited any new places or with bad reception.
I'm running the 7.1.8.0 global stable rom.
PS: My locale is missing, and I chose Argentina on random, then disabled auto-time. Could this mess things up ?
Any input would be appreciated.

I am facing a terrible network problem with my phone too. I have used China and Global ROMs and I cannot fix the problem. I am currently using Global 7.1.8.0
My phone does not respond to incoming calls when in sleep mode. Incoming calls go directly to voicemail. It seems that it is connected to the network while in sleep mode. However, it does not respond to the incoming call.
If the phone is awake with the screen on, it shows an incoming call.
I have tested other SIM cards, switching from 3G to 2G, reseting the phone, clearing cache, disabling "do not disturb".... The problem just does not go away. It's a shame that a phone with this much potential has a basic problem like this.

Just tested, mine rings when sleeping. But define sleeping... ? When display is off for a some time ?
I am also suspecting something with the sleep mode, it usually 'switches' to Edge or no connection while in my pocket. I am also suspecting problems with the sim card, have you tried with a new one, or card in another phone ?
Otherwise I really like the phone It brought my trust back in Android.
edit: Update > Download Update and it started downloading, then restarted, installed something, but I'm still on 7.1.8.0 ...
Auto download is ON.

I define the "sleeping mode' as phone with screen off for some time. I tried different SIM cards and from different network companies (3 and Vodafone). Same problem. My network signal is extremely unstable. I like the phone a lot too. However, network signal is something so basic on a phone that it is a shame it does not work properly.
I am also facing similar issues but xiaomi people are not recognizing the issue. They are telling that it's an isolated issue. Please post here, so that they fix this problem.
http://en.miui.com/thread-255747-1-1.html
I got a new sim card, and upgraded my plan, now I have good reception, almost always LTE, sometimes drops to H+. How I miss calls when my phone's display is turned off/sleeping. I'm getting pretty pissed of with Xiaomi about this ****
So annoying
Hope we get the 7.2.2 update soon and it fixes this problem
What good is a phone if it has network issues

Got my phone yesterday and had the same problem this morning. Solved by signing out of my MI account, switching off VoLTE and rebooting. Everything works properly now. Hope this helps.

Forget my previous posts on this issue. Follow these steps as they worked perfectly for me and I had to repeat them this evening since I did a reboot.
1. Keep sim registration on automatic on both sims.
2. Power off phone.
3. Remove sim 1 and keep sim 2 (my sim 2 is 3 Mobile UK roaming. That may make a difference).
4. Power on phone. My roaming sim 2 registers immediately.
5. Power off phone.
6. Insert sim 1 (primary or local sim).
7. Power on and you should have both sims working perfectly.
8. Go to sim settings and change your preferred calls and data back to sim 1 if you need to.
These steps have worked for me twice so far. Hope it helps.
P. S. I must add that I have zero, zilch, nada issues with my Zenfone 2 running the same setup (local sim and uk T-Mobile). Love the Xiaomi so far but detest the lack of native alphabetical for the apps. Considered Nova but the free version doesn't give message counters. Any suggestions?
There is a temporary trick posted at http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=251620&page=1#pid4736228
I was having network problems and it seems to be much better (perhaps solved) with this trick.
I wish to know what this com.qualcomm.qti.supersaver does!

I am glad it helped you. Make sure you type the code *#*#995995#*#* twice after stopping the apk. I actually disabled this apk without any secondary problem.
I am running Global ROM 7.1.8.0. Still waiting for 7.2.2. Let's hope this problem will be fixed in the next update.
Hi,
I'm also facing network issues with 7.1.8.0 : when exiting airplane mode or switching from Wi-Fi to gsm network, I lose data connection. The only way to get data back is to reboot the phone.
Sadly, the trick from miui forum didn't work for me for this particular problem.
Il hope this problem will be fixed in 7.2.2.0 update.
@ mura20 : thanks for the trick nevertheless...
OTA 7.2.3.0 is here!
OTA 7.2.3.0 solved my problem !
Great
I also got the new ota. But how to flash? Twrp returns error 7 when I try to flash
wont u brick your fone if u flash ofw from recovery?
try this in TWRP go to MOUNT there you'll see a option "mount system as read-only" un-check that box and try flashing the rom..
