BlackTaskbar, coloured Circle Battery with %,Coloured Icons,for Steve's 1.5.0,1.6.0 - Streak 5 Themes and Apps

Hi All,
I have (at long last) managed to do a black taskbar, with a coloured battery (With percentage) and coloured icons (V3). The carrier and other text is white.
Respect to Quikt for his modified services.jar & Tina333 for all her theme work!
This theme works on DJSTeve's latest 1.5.0 ROM & Also 1.6.0
NOTE it will take a few minutes to load so it will hang on the boot animation for a few minutes - just be patient!!!
As normal copy the zip file to your SD root. Run Recovery (I use mistadman, because it's brilliant), etc, etc
What's the best app for a screen shot?
BFN
Ody

Wow.works great for steve's latest 1.5.0. and it looks great.
Thanks mate!

If anyone is wondering or debating these, they are VERY nice. Lively icons with colors that change depending on status. Very, very nice. And I have tried quite a few theme/task bar mods.
Great job!

I want to try this but it took me awhile to upgrade my US att 1.6 to steve1.5. I am still iffy with the command prompt thing and not sure when to run what.
If I drop this in the root of my SD can I just hold the volumes and power buttons and tell it to install from zip or do I have to do some command line in fastboot first?
If not mistaken I just boot up using volume keys tell it to install pkg from sd card and then clockwork boots and allows me to install zip?
does my phone reset or is everything else retained?
Thanks.

Hey Ody,
If you could drop these changes into a framework for Steve's 1.5.1 so we can have a version for it, I'd really appreciate it!
Steve's changed the animations in 1.5.1, and he's saying that could present a problem with the status bars, themes, etc.
Anyway, I love this bar, and would definitely want to put it on 1.5.1 when I go to it. In fact, I might just wait a little bit to see if you update this before making the jump.
Call me crazy to wait on a whole ROM for a status bar, but I'm a sucker for a black bar, and I think this one's the best.
Thanks!

I installed it over 1.5.1 and everything booted fine. I lost the animations, which I didnt like anyway.

Ahh good call there. I thought that might be what would happen, but I have had these things result in bigger consequences before. Wasn't willing to experiment this time.
Anyway, I just flashed it too with the same result. I didn't hate the animations, but I tend to prefer snappy to flashy when it comes to performance, so I don’t think I will miss them either.
Plus, I have my favorite black bar back!

If you find you really miss the animations, you can also take the framework from this taskbar, run through the UOT kitchen, changing nothing except for adding which ever animation you want, then cook it up. Just tried it with the flying animation and it worked.

can you do that and post the zip?

uhhhh, dumb face here.

I currently dont have enough posts to post a link to the one I made. But if you want to make you own, its not that hard. Just go into system/framework folder using root explorer, make a copy of the framework-res.apk file, and paste the copy into you sd card. From there transfer the file to your computer. Then go to the UOT kitchen website. Just select theme only, click and keep selecting the "dont include" option until you reach the animation section where you pick the one you want. Fom there you click onto the next page where you will upload your framework to the website, click next and the cooking will begin. After it is done, transfer the zip file created back to you sd card and go into clockwork. First you clear you davlik cache then run the zip, reboot (which will take a little longer than normal) and you will have this theme with the animation of your choosing.

Just applied this on 1.5.1 for the first time, very impressed, thanks

Ps suggestion for future theme, maybe do a nice menu screen rather than the drab grey one?

Is there any way to get rid of this useless and space consuming carrier string in the upper left of the notification bar?

I'd like to be able to change the carrier string if possible: just something custom
Streaking with the XDA app!

Works like charm on 1.5.1, also remove new animations which i feel annoyed in the new rom

[MOD] I9000 *matte* skin and accurate battery *10/5/2010*

First and foremost, this would not have originally been possible without all the hard work zimphishmonger and the3dman13 did to bring fighspit's original battery mod to the vibrant, please see the original thread here, and give them some thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756441
I'm also borrowing zimphishmonger's warning, as i think it works to keep warning messages standard across all these battery mod threads.
WARNING: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup prior to installing any modification, including this one. You are making the decision to install this on your own, and I am not responsible for anything nuclear that may happen to your device.
UPDATE.. I lost count (10/5/2010)
So I dig Eugene's Frankin-twiz rom's, but I still want to keep my accurate battery mod, and well, I think his glossy-black skin is ugly. I also think the stock vibrant touchwiz skin is ugly (for the love of all that's holy samsung, why did you decide the vibrant would be the ONLY galaxy s phone to get your stupid glossy version of touchwiz?!)
So, I ported my battery mod to frankin-twiz and at the same time, ripped all the matte (non glossy) drawable's from the I9000 touchwiz skin, and added in my colored status/signal, mms, calendar, music player, and gmail icons, restored the black background for the power control widget, added HTC's weather icons to GenieWidget.apk, changed to the stock I9000 bootup and shutdown animation and sounds, and of course, I probably missed something else too, lol. You can see some (semi-outdated) screenshots here: http://picasaweb.google.com/113127051130934911253/AndroidStuff?feat=directlink
Also, if you find yourself being a typography nerd like me, you can use this zip to switch the default system font to Comfortaa I take NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for making the original font, or the android port, I only re-packaged the files into a Clockwork-mod zip file for the vibrant. This will also change the lockscreen clock font to comfortaa, but ONLY if using the default android lockscreen.
Comfortaa system fonts: http://www.4shared.com/file/hYu1TYHL/Comfortaa_system_fonts_ONLY.html
New for ftwiz_final: I'm including an extra version with the samsung calendar AND the AOSP mms app, per Eugene's thread, since it resolves issues with being unable to send sms/mms messages. I'm also including the newest version of my battery mod (this is the version I personally like best and use daily), based on the upright/vertical icons, but with colored borders/outline, and a smoother charging animation (thanks to untermensch!) This can be applied on its own, after you flash either of the other versions. If flashed without flashing one of the other versions first, it DOES NOT contain the gmail/calendar/mms/music player icons, or the startup & shutdown animations and sounds. You can see a screenshot added to the post below too.
Download links here, ftwiz_final ONLY:
Removed, sorry, too many people use other people's work without giving credit, and it leads to way too many headaches, he-said/she-said, ignorance, etc.
Everything should flash via clockwork recovery fine, place the zip on the root of your INTERNAL /sdcard directory, reboot into clockwork, I recommend wiping the cache & dalvik-cache, then install zip from sdcard, locate the specific zip, reboot.
Enjoy, cheers everyone, and if you come in here posting bugs/whining for help without first making sure you cleared your cache and dalvik-cache, then I'm just going to ignore you,
Looks Great!!!
Thanks alot works well on my phone
i love it! not a big fan of the round battery icon, so this is great
Great work! Glad to see everyone is making their own customized battery images. We are gonna have a battery collection soon.
just a quick update to the OP with a new version with some colored/themed status icons.
cheers

I did, switched from the green circle. The battery indicator works fine.
I used the circle one but saw this with the other colored icons and thought they were cool. Seems that they don't quite work properly. Stock the GPS indicator shows in the notification bar any time it's on. With the new icons from the op the indicator is only on if I'm in an app that is using the GPS. I'm going to flash back to stock then to the battery only mod (i figure I need to to switch the other icons?)

Hi,
Thanks for trying it out. I have no idea how there might be issues since this is literally just img replacement from the segmented green circular battery mod, so however icons should work with that mod, is how they should work with this mod.
Maybe run a fix permissions from rom manager and see if that helps?
Also, my GPS icon has never worked like you described, even stock, (in other words, mine isn't always visible in notification bar, even when not in an app actively using gps, its displayed only when using an app that needs GPS, and disappeared when exiting the app.)
If you want to try and modify your own framework-res.apk with these files, I may upload just my png images once I'm done replacing/coloring all the icons I feel like modifying.
Thanks again for trying it out though, cheers
Lastly, I got bored and colored the wifi icons, cell-signal icons, and vibration indicator icon, I'll post the framework-res.apk in the first post, but won't package a new update.zip until I decide I'm done modifying icons, lol.

Hey again,
Glad I wasn't screwing up phone's, lol.
Anyway, I'm still working on changing all the icons, can't seem to decide where to stop yet, since now I've started modifying icons for other apps, gmail, mms, google voice, trillian, etc. And of course, now that I've gone with a slightly brighter green in the other icons, I may go back and tweak the color of my battery icon to match.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of some of the icons I'm mostly finished with (though for some reason I'm not digging the alarm icon, anyone have color suggestions for it?)
cheers,

Yeah...sorry about that. Anyway I hate that stupid icon to begin with so maybe something totally different? I did a GIS for alarm clock icon and there are a lot of possibilities. I think that maybe the stock one with a red square and white clock could be good.
Edit: Maybe something like this

If you don't already have it, I suggest you install Koush's Clockwork Recovery. You can install it quickly by using ROM Manager.
Once you boot into the recovery ROM, you can back up your entire phone using Nandroid (highly advised) and then you're free to experiment to your heart's content.
Now back to your question: you can save the file to your internal SD card and search for it using the 'Install from SD' (or something like that) option in the Clockwork ROM, install it and reboot.
Good luck, friend.
What's the right way to revert this? framework-res.apk restore?
Updated OP with newest mod.
I think I'm done with this for a while now, though I might zip all the png files if someone else wants to try and make this into a morph when the app gets updated.

Hi,
Yes, restoring your backed-up framework-res.apk will restore the battery mod. If you used the newer zip that also includes the Gmail icon mod, then you'll need to restore Gmail.apk too /system/app too.

Themes for steves 1.5.0 & 1.4.6 incl batt%, icons, status/notif & window animations
My Modaco thread: http://android.modaco.com/content/d...-status-notif-window-animations/#entry1505455
~~~THEY ALSO WORK WITH 1.5.0 (PHEW!!)~~~
Includes icons, colour % battery icon, full status bar, full notifications menu and window animation.
All have been tried and tested! Hope you like them... any feeback would be great, requests are welcome (please state the battery icon style/colour, theme colour/style, preferred icons & which window animation)
You need to be on dj_steves v1.4.6
(it may work with other versions but I have only tested the current 1.4.6, post a request if you have a different build and i will do my best to help )
It will not work if you are using themekika!
~~~HOW-TO~~~
***FIRST OF ALL CLEAR DALVIK CACHE VIA ADVANCED OPTIONS IN CLOCKWORKMOD OR STREAKMOD*** (this is necessary for the window animations to work properly)
1. back-up not necessary (all data is preserved and re-flash 1.4.6 restores perfectly)
2. Copy/move .zip to the root of your SD card (no need to re-name)
3. Power off and into recovery (hold volume up/down + power)
4. Option 2 install from sd... wait for clockworkmod to load
5. Select install .zip from SD then pick from SD manually.
6. Reboot once install has completed (may take 2-5 mins)
7. Enjoy
(if you dont like it, simply flash 1.4.6 again, all will be as it was)
After various tests... It seems with each of my themes you can simply flash from one to the other via clockworkmod, i have all of the on my sd and can swap whenever! (please report back if this does not work for you)

Unfortunately I can't change the black text. In brief, the rom is set to white status and black text, I use UTO kitchen to cook and it only lets me change the bar colour not text. I don't fancy messing with major changes myself so the best I could do was to make it slightly transparent and lighter. I will be cooking some more today
Considering its android... Im SO surprised its so difficult to tweak basic stuff like colors. Why do you think dell did that...?

Hi Tina,
Any tips on trying to make a blacktaskbar with coloured icons and a coloured battery with percentage?? I can change the text colour to white. But I am unsure on using the kitchen, as it seems trying to cook a blacktaskbar is difficult?
ie can we use icons for blackstatus bar (ie with white text) and does the select taskbar colour section actually work?
(I assume that you use the 1.4.6 framework-res.apk file).

Notification bar

I am running dj Steve's 1.6.1 and was wondering if there was anyway to get normal greyish white notification bar with the regular froyo icons on the streakdroid 1.6.1.

I have tried to make custom notifcation bars for1.6.1. However it fails evry time. With earlier versions of the Rom,1.5.x i was able to do it.
No one is giving details avout the framework-res.apk. So, i cannot create any new notification bars with the cooking tool i was using.
I need to know if the framework-res is already modified. I am fairly sure it is and that is the problem.
A little luck and some success
Guys,
I tried several of "drgopoos" circle battery percentage and have some success. May be someone with more knowledge can take this further. The original link to all "drgopoos" work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854248
I got lucky by using the circle battery meant for Steve 1.5.1 (project 6) on the latest Steve's 1.6.1. It actually modify the notification bar to 90% of what I am looking for - AOSP notification look. The only problem are the time/clock font is white on grey background and some other texts are also in white. I will also try to attach the exact 1.5.1 battery zip file here. Again, it is not my work! So, please thank drgopoos!
I also saw some posting by krad or kradkrad just recently about how to make changes to the clock's text color. I will probably try that when I have time...
EDIT: Found the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936780
Good luck on the AOSP Notification on Steve's 1.6.1 for the few of us.
Again, the file attached below is not my work! It is drgopoos!
do you guys have any idea what rom the framework-res.apk came from in dj steve?
if you could find out, you just download that rom's framework-res.apk...
open the rom apk and a copy of DJ steves apk with 7zip or winrar.. notice "open" not extract
then open the layout folder, and drag and drop from stock to dj steve. Stick to the statusbar xml files only.
then open the hdpi and mdpi folders and drag the files over to dj steve.
you should now have a modified DJsteve framework with stock graphics and colors.
go to the circle kitchen website and pick the battery meter you want, and at the end hit upload framework-res.apk and upload your modified one.
you can then download the signed zip and flash to your phone via streakmod or clockwork... if all goes right.. you should have a dell stock graphics.
have fun.

Ok, put this together from many different places, had to change many things to get it to fit/work. Only edited .pngs, and .9.png's. Some images wont theme as they're called by framework.res(menu items). Tested on 160 dpi and 210 lcd densities. It looks much nicer than stock @ 210dpi. I didn't edit any .xml's, so higher dpi may still get cut off. The screenies are @ 160dpi. I will follow up a post with 210 res also. I started making this basically for me, becuz of stock @ 200+ res, but decided I might as well learn. I would have uploaded them here, but file is too big. I imagine this would work on other builds too such as 354, 351, but I have not tested yet.

Well, since you asked
Blue would fit the theme better IMHO
help an Android noob
I see the zip file has the .apk files, now,
can I back up the ones on the phone, over write with these, or
just copy the .apk files and install, then if I don't like it, just go to
the phone .apk files, and install the original?
tnx!
you can replace them, but since it invloves phone, even in airplane mode I got force close message every second, research it. much easier to flash in recovery.
enjoy..
Got it...FINALLY
After installing clockwork recovery, then trying to figure out it wasn't taking for some reason...googling that, lead me to the multi-recovery flasher. Kept getting unable to load xxxxx message, after googling that and finding out it work take from the desktop, installed it on the local drive, then after trying to figure out why I had a yellow bang (!) in device manager, googling that lead me to the driver, then tried streak recovery, got that installed and in just a few seconds I had the phone dialer up and running. Only took a few seconds, minus the 1-2 hours figuring out the other #(*$&@ errors on my own part LOL.
Anyway, the dialer works, looks much nicer than the stock dialer!
It works in Streakdroid 1.9.1 flashing with streakmod.
Loving it

I'm going to grab this in a minute. Mind if I ask how you went about creating this? I tried using the miui builder that's out there but got stuck.
Anyhoo, great work!

kind of mix and match and trial and error
I came from X10 and there's a guide on mixing the roms (it's buried deep in XDA but you can still find it at Modaco I think)
It's important to have a well working rom (in this case CM7) to base on
Need to get it boot up and read the logcat and change from there
Going to try this soon just wondering one thing does changing dpi fix icon sizes and/or does zeam launcher have an option to disable app drawer so its similar to miui launcher?
Wiped and installed it twice to be sure. I don't even get to a boot animation.
It just dies.
It's looking good so far. status bar is across the top too. Looks like it's a bit short on the left hand side cos there's a little square black box there right now. Will install screenshot app to take pic

is that an app that creates the home/menu keys on the right side like that or is that how miui is?

I have not tried various dpi yet.
I don't think you can disable app drawer in Zeam. But if you drag everything out or set app drawer background to transparent then it's quite similar to miui launcher.

Try factory reset + clear dalvik cache after install. First boot may take a while

Thanks, for a while I thought my zip is bad from previous post.
I notice the status bar issue too. May need to experiment with different dpi and see.
Just installed, looks great! I did go into a boot loop the first time I tried to install. I then wiped/installed and wiped again. Booted up quick and easy after that. Other than the status bar, haven't noticed too much quite yet but its only been 5 minutes. Will post again later.
That's button Savior. Wonder if there is an ICS style softkeys somewhere that would work

The newest update to button savior added an ICS theme. Not sure if that's exactly what you are looking for though. I've been using that on my Gnex for a week or so and love it.

More of an actual softkey row across the bottom like there is on ICS roms which don't have physical buttons. Make sense? Ill see if I can find something to show as an example.
Them soft keys. It'll shift the screen up slightly but it'd be decent.

yes the dpi does the trick
Stock Launcher Icons and Status Bar look much better now (but very big)
Use RootExplorer to edit the /system/build.prop as follows:
remove the following lines:
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density.xdpi=169.33333
ro.sf.lcd_density.ydpi=169.33333
add this line:
Code:
qemu.sf.lcd_density=240
save and set permission to 644 (all read, top write)
Edit: you need also to replace the keyboard file or it appears super big. here is the LatinIME.apk taken from Nook Color rom. Copy it to /system/app folder and set permission to 644
then reboot
Problem
If you install a theme, the sliding down action wont work.
Help---> how can i unlock the nook lockscreen

I installed a variation of the iphone unlock slider, and sliding my finger exactly where the arrow was didn't work, but right under the slider did work. Maybe try sliding your finger in different places on the screen? I don't know much about miui so I don't know if there is another work around....
