Acme Made Slick Case - Ipad - G Tablet Accessories

Hey guys... new guy here. Bought my Gtab Saturday at Sears for $340 and promptly rooted and threw on TnT. I am so happy with it!
My next challenge was to find a case and I stumbled on to the Acme Made Slick Case (for the Ipad) at Office Depot. It fits the Gtab perfectly! It holds it in place with four corner straps, and doesn't really block anything.
Google Acme Made and you can find it pretty easily.

thanks for the info....can you tell me is that a hard or soft case? It looks semi rigid...

It's semi-rigid for sure. It has a soft neoprene type cover, and enough padding to keep it the tab safe. I'll take some pictures tonight when I get home to show the fit.
It also opens open notebook style, which is very nice.

Thanks for the info OP. Can you still close the zipper with the gTAB in it.

I just looked at a youtube demo of this case and it looks like the ipad fills up the entire dimensions (length). The Ipad is 9.5 inches wide and the gtablet is 10.5 wide. It looks like it will be a pretty tight fit.

My thoughts exactly i just looked up the case over at OfficeDepot.com and the dimensions are as follows 9.8"H x 7.7"W x 0.08"D. Our gtab doesn't fit that does it? If in fact this is the same case the OP is referring to.
Acme Made Slick Case

I've got my tab perfectly fitted inside the case. The zipper closes without a problem. Since it has four stretch tabs(one on each corner) there is enough give to make the tab fit nicely. I made a template and took it inside the store before I bought it and it was close enough so I gave it a shot. Loving the look, the fit and the style. Got it for thirty dollars at Office Depot. Will post pics once I get my camera back from work.

That's the case. Not sure what to say other than it works nicely. There literally isn't any space to spare, but its not forced in there either.

Thats great news, I might swing by OD tomorrow and pick one up. Thanks for confirming that it works, I thought it wouldn't fit just based on the dimensions.

Ok....got the case and using now......it is a very loose fit to the elastic corners do to the height and width ratio. It has come out of the elastic the two times i opened it after carrying it around. You realy needthe power button mod (built up with rubber grommet in my case) as the strap is right on top of it.
Closing the zippers is tough as the pad pushes against the edges real bad and provides little if any cousion on the edges/corners. I will use it for now until i get a custom folio and then it is going back.

$9.99 case @ cvs

I just bought a soft Sylvania case at cvs meant for "up to 10.2" netbooks". Fits great especially if you leave in the foam insert.
Thanks for the tip! I'll have to go there tonight on my way home.

+1, love me some pics
have to check that out when i leave to go home!
I just picked up a Swiss Army netbook case at Walmart. It's $18, but worth it I feel.
I try to post a link... here.
I stopped by the cvs by my apartment on my way home tonight- it's basically like the zippered carrying case sold at Sears in the Viewsonic packaging except that it has no carrying handles.
I went with the HP Mini Slipcase ala:
http://www.compuvest.com/Desc.jsp?iid=1422615
Cut the lining open, slipped the foam packing insert inside, and now I'm good to go.

I had that one and returned it. Its a very nice case, but it doesnt fit the G Tab very snug at all. It moves around in there a lot.
I got a Built case from Office Depot I think for 12.99 or 15.99.
http://www.amazon.com/Built-LH10-BLK-7-Inch-10-Inch-Hoodie/dp/B001N44UI0
Can be found for cheaper, it has a semi-rigid backing and it fits the gtab pretty well. nice to transport it, but I still want a fitted case with a cover to use it in.

I also noticed the little bubbly things on the inside smudged the fingerprints on the screen and made little circles everytime I took it out of the case =). Not a big deal I guess, but had to wipe it down everytime I took it out of the case.
Ended up getting an incase case from Marshalls for $12. Its also intended for a netbook but its tighter on the sides so even though theres quite a bit of room up top it doesnt move so much since its snug on the sides.

This looks like the $5.99 one listed at Sears: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00382006000P?mv=rr model GTCLC-22 Holiday.
However a few members had issues with its smell: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865392 ("G Tablet Case")
That is the same case seling at sears for $5.99
Walmart case
I bought one of the sears cases. While I liked the idea of having handles, I felt that it did not offer enough protection for the Gtablet. So now I use it to carry my power supply and keyboard/mouse in.
I found this case at Walmart and it fits the Gtablet great. I have not had any problems with it causing the power on button to be depressed. I left the foam padding in the case to further protect the screen. I paid 17.99 for it. But I have seen it as high as 22.99
http://www.walmart.com/ip/SwissGear-Lunar-10.2-Sleeve-Black/14964986
But I assume if you tried to push in from the sides you could force it to come on.
Hope this helps

This is the exact same one that Sears is selling in Viewsonic packaging. If you can find one at Sears, it is/was on sale for $5.99. I bought 2 (one for each g tablet in my house) If you let it air out for a day or two the smell goes away.

Best Holder for the G Tablet That I Have Seen!

Got this through Amazon:
Search for BookGem (I can not post links Yet, Still Noob! )
This thing is great. Can be used from the top for a lower typing view, from the bottom as a video stand or from the side to get everything in-between!
The best part is, it folds to the size of a pack of gum!
Spring loaded clips so it hold tight.
Great find! I think I will be gifting one or two of these this xmas
Anyone want to group order for the discount?

I purchased these two plastic covered metal stands from Amazon for $4.50 and they work great. One stays in my backpack for mobile use and the other on my desk. They are adjustable.
Search Amazon for "Perfect Ipad Stand; Set of Two 2AX - Black"
http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Ipad-...1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1292451829&sr=1-1
Spent some time hunting on eBay for stands, cases, etc, and came up with a few that might be worth investigating. Although I like the idea of the leather case and stand that is currently being discussed in another thread, I would think that it adds considerable bulk when using the tablet when there isn't a table on which to rest it. I already have the $5.99 case from Sears, so I'm thinking that the vinyl/carbon fiber backing (for a little protection) and a portable stand which fits inside the bag might just be the ticket.
In any case, I assume that I'm not allowed to post links, so here are the eBay item numbers for a couple stands that I found:
230552795441 (Might be my favorite one)
310271758612
250743468527
120660278916 (Don't know how sturdy this might be, but it looks cool!)
I'm sure there are a ton more, but that should give folks a good idea of what is out there, and what should most likely work with the G-tab. Keep in mind I don't have any affiliation with any of these items!

My Review of: BookGem stand/Kindle DX case

Thanks S2W for the review. I have a question for you. I also have the bookgem but don't know if mine is defective. When opened the gem sits on the front spring rather then the the two front feet. It seems like there should be a rubber pad on these (to stop it from sliding and holding the gem above the spring hub). Does yours sit this way?

Your welcome... The spring hub is aligned with the 2 front feet of my stand. I did notice that when I closed the rear legs, the spring hub is no longer aligned. Standing the bookgem this way will give you a bit of that teeter-totter action since its meant to stand on an angle. But don't care for it as much in this position since it becomes no longer use as a stand but closed to put away.
Overall, I like the stand. Hopefully you're within your timescale and can return it back if defective. IMO, Its kind of useless to me, if you dont have the front feet stabled and aligned because of the spring hub dropping lower.
We have to trust that our Gtabs are secured. So if your unsure I would return it.
Glad you you caught the video.
Book Gem
I've had my book gem over the weekend and had to make one mod.
just above the book gem sticker there were are two pyramid looking stubs.
I took an excacto knife (a box cutter knife should work as well) to reduce the stubs and filed the remain flat.
Other then that I love my Gtab Gem. With the legs in, it's easier to hold with one hand, imo.

Thank you for your excellent YouTube review. I'm now enjoying the leather case that arrived today. An excellent fit, no problems with port access or power/volume buttons. Definitely adds class to the G-Tab experience. I highly recommend it!
Stand and Case Together
Great videos!
I really like both the case and the stand, but would like to use them together. Is it possible to use the gtab with the stand while it is still in the case? Maybe you could do another video review of both together
Anyone know of a Kindle DX case that folds over into a stand in landscape mode? The only ones I have seen the stand is in portrait mode.
Thanks!
I must thank you. I was going back and forth between getting the Kindle DX case and the Zec case. I was on the fence about the Kindle case, but your video review totally solidified my decision. Got mine in today, and I couldn't be happier.
Thanks, man!
Saw your review of the Kindle case on YouTube. It was instrumental in my decision to order it for every day use. Thank you for taking the time to put it up there.
I had ordered and received one of those cases with the built-in usb keyboard before I made this decision as the keyboard is not silicone and will damage my screen if I decided to use it every day. The other case also didn't really keep my tablet secure at all and I felt it would slip out of it at any given moment.
I stopped carrying my powerhouse laptop with me when I travel on business (with the power adapter it weighs about 20 lbs). Now I just carry my G Tablet and use LogMeIn Ignition for Android to remote in to my laptop I keep at my office. I kept the other case so I can use it when I travel on business and need to type a lot. But I am really looking forward to receiving this Kindle DX cover so I can use it every day.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered one yesterday. They haven't shipped it out yet so I could cancel but I think for $20, I'll take the risk. They do have great return policies.
I know the one with the keyboard is comparable priced but after putting aaron's back cover on mine, I don't really want to stick velcro on the back of it to keep it in place.
I guess I just should have opted for the Book gem and continued to use the Sears carrying case.

I was just coming on to post this because it seems as if this company is selling a different case now. My case doesn't have the same sheen on the outside, nor do I have the larger pockets on the inside like the one in the video. Never the less, it seems to hold the tablet the same, so I'm fine with it. Best option I've seen for the price I paid. ( $18.50 with free shipping.) I should add that I'm fine with the smaller inside pockets, as they don't push on the screen like the one in the video, but I do wish I had the outer cover as it does look like a better quality than the case I have.

[Q] help looking for a case

I need some help looking for a case. I would like something folio style, but all of the pictures of the M1, Px cases look like they stand very upright. I am looking for a case that will lean back to allow it to sit and use as a keyboard stand. Anyone have any ideas for me?

CLIP
I got a CLIP from it2steve's web store and it works as exactly as you are wanting it to. It comes with 3 grooves on one side so you can have the gTab in 3 viewing angles but if you let it all the way down as shown in the attached photo it's perfect for typing.
As a new GTablet owner I was looking for a good case as well. The Clip looks sweet but it seems to be sold out from it2steve's store.
Anyone know where I can score this sweet looking case?

Yeah, I heard that too about the magnets on the M1.
I am very happy with my CLIP case. In my opinion it is the only Apple quality accessory we have for the gTab at the moment. It's well worth the extra cash and I can't recommend it any better.

I tried moving a small (1/4" diameter x 1/8" thick disk) rare earth magnet near the screen of my GTab, and didn't see any effects. Has anyone else tried any experiments? How large is the magnet in the case?
I saw a clip style case at staples that's made for the xoom- any chance it would fit our g-tabs?

No. I looked into this a few weeks ago (don't remember where I posted that) and the Xoom and gTabs are different sizes. If I remember correctly the gTab was bigger/longer than the Xoom.

As an M1 owner who's used it for a couple of weeks now, I can tell you that the magnet issue, like most things on the Internet, is blown way out of proportion. I use the tablet daily at work, have used it shopping for replacement flooring/furniture for our flooded gameroom, and sitting on the reclining sofa playing Angry Birds. I've never had a problem with the magnets reducing screen responsiveness or "freaking out". My only complaint is that over time, the GTab tends to settle further down in the case, half-hiding the camera and all but covering the ambient light sensor. If you don't plan on propping it up on a desk as often as I do, it makes a wonderful case.
M1 Case and G Tab Screen
I got an M1 case on Monday so I've had it for 3 days now. The fit, feel and look of the case are all excellent so far on mine, however, the it does mess with the screen. The longer it stays in the case the worse it gets. I have done tests in and out of the case, putting to sleep or not, rebooting or not and now have no doubt it is the case but I am not sure if its actually the magnets or not. It could just be the case itself touching the edges of the screen all day. In any case, (some pun intended) the longer it stays in the case, the harder you have to press the outside portions of the screen to get it to react. Mine eventually gets to the point where you cannot press hard enough to get the keys on the keyboard to function. When this happens I put it to sleep, pull it out of the case, wake it up and it works like new again. I will probably be investing in a black clip myself in the near future. This could just be a problem with my particular Gtab and it may not effect others at all but that is my short bit of experience with the M1 Case.
There's a few black clip cases in stock at it2steve's web store now.
WI Global Technology Case for GTablet - $16, delv'd

I need some help looking for a case. I would like something folio style, but all of the pictures of the M1, Px cases look like they stand very upright. I am looking for a case that will lean back to allow it to sit and use as a keyboard stand. Anyone have any ideas for me?

For anyone who doesn't want to spend $50-$60 on a case for a $300 item, WI Global Technology has cheap alternatives. One with clips, one with elastic.
I got the one with clips. For $16 - It's OK.
All ports are accessible.
It's vinyl - NOT leather.
The covers extend about 1/16th" beyond the GTab - just enough protection (for me, anyay)
As you can see. the kickstand angle is about 75 degrees - it would probably be better if it were more like 60.
For $16 delivered, you get what you pay for (maybe a bit more... ymmv).
Search eBay for "fashion leather case gtablet"

and before anyone asks...
yes, those are LED indicators by the back/menu/home/search buttons.
It's a custom mod which can be seen here

It's WIT Global. I just ordered one for me. $15.99 shipped. It's coming from Hong Kong, so I wonder how long it will take.

you pretty happy with your Clip? I was leaning towards the M1, but another forum thread said that magnets in that case cause the screen to freak out...back on the Clip if those who have one are happy....
thanks for info...

Hmmm been using the M1 for a few weeks now. Never noticed this magnet issue. I know magnets can mess with hard drives but never heard of it messing with an LCD. Doesn't the ipad 2 smart cover have like 70 magnets?
EDIT: Looked it up, 31 magnets.

Sleeves and cases

Has anyone found any decent cases or sleeves for this tablet yet?
It's dimensions are listed as 271x176x12.9mm, which makes it longer than the iPad, as well as longer and wider than the Xoom, so I imagine most cases for those devices will be too small (or it'll protrude through the opening.)
At the same time, lots of netbook cases are around, but they seem to extend by 1 or 2cm too far in each dimension. Closest appears to be the Belkin 10.2" cases on Amazon.
There's a comparison of sizes here:

Looks like it might work - size wise it seems the transformer will fit.
For the moment I am going to keep my transformer in the case I used for my Asus EEE PC Netbook, just hope it fits!!!
I also contacted tuff luv as I adore their cases and have one for my Kindle and love the fact I can prop it up and read it. They say there going to look into it and to contact them again in a couple of weeks, I really hope they do a case.
I got on of these as a temporary measure. .

Fits well enough, of somewhat unspectacular..
REALLY hoping Yoobao do a transformer version of their magic case.. have emailed them to enquire.. mebbe i enough of us register our interest.. Hint.. hint
I still haven't found a case :'( I'm using a net book neoprene case which is too big, do we need to consider the keyboard as well... might make it harder to get the case.

Ive got one of these and it fits pretty well.

I got one of these anticipating my Transformer but after getting it, I'm pretty sure it will be about .5 inch short.

The Transformer is long and narrow unlike all other tablets.
I got my kindle sleeve from here..http://wrappers.typepad.com/
Very pleased with it...
If you email them with details they will advise which of their huge range will fit the Xformer. They are custom made.
I bought a cheap neoprene sleeve on ebay (item no 170625464579) for £3.30 delivered (although he has now hiked up his price to £4.95). It fits pretty much perfectly - although I did manage to accidentally wake the tablet up from standby putting it in the sleeve on one occasion.

Looks like this one on Amazon?

Edit: blah, ignore - just noticed that's for 7" tablets.

Wow, those look really nice. I'll email and see what they say.
Edit: Have just been emailing with the lady that makes them. She's confident she can make something up for it and is going to send me a sample. I'll keep you posted!

I just bit the bullet and ordered this one for now:
www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0045D88I4/ref=ox_ya_os_product
Size is 270x200x25 mm which is the closest I could get to the Transformer size. It should arrive in a couple of days and then I will report back.

This looks like a perfect fit from the listed dimensions:

Anyone know the height of the keyboard? Don't want to buy a sleeve yet until I know both the tablet & keyboard are going to fit in it!
can we use the cases/sleeves for asus eee netbook? they are the same size of 10.1"..

maybe im not sure. but isnt the transformer 16:10? its pretty widescreen so itll be a little lengthy compared to netbooks i think. im not quite sure.
Today i went to my local PCWorld store and picked up a Samsonite 11" Notebook Case, it seems to fit quite well, but was £24.99 ....
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsonite-aramon2-11-laptop-case-black-05318913-pdt.html
It is duel aspect, so when the keyboard part of the TF arrives it will also be used in this case, the tablet part fits in the top part of the case and is held in place by two corner holders.

Been there, done that. Unfortunately - as you'll soon notice - when it's done up the zip sits right on top of the power button, making it incredibly easy to turn on accidentally. I'm taking mine back tonight.
My sample "Wrapper", as linked above, arrived this morning and it's very nice indeed! Perhaps a little small width ways but I've sent my feedback and I think they're going to re-work it a little. Once they've got the final design down-tap I'd recommend them without hesitation.

I guess i can see what you mean about the zip, but im traveling around with work next week and wanted something quick to stop it getting battered in my laptop bag with everything else that is in there.
It will do for the moment until either an official case comes out or a good alternative is found, I will hold onto the receipt and packaging that came with it, if it turns on the power constantly when im away next week i will take it back.
The TeckNet iPad Leather Case for Apple iPad is exactly the type of thing I want, only designed for the eeePad!!!
I'd link you to the page on Amazon, but I've not posted enough on here yet to put up external links! (GRRR!)
