[Q] internal speakers - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

internal speakers stop working on my archos101
getting sound true headphones.
Does anyone have any ideas?

No real help here... but you are not alone.
Mine still work but the back right one produces static at mid-to-high volumes. It increases/decreases the amount of static depending on where I "press" on the back with my fingers. I took mine apart (about 7 times now) and I cannot see the reason. Connections are fine... no loose wires or solder. Speaker is not "blown" as far as I can tell.
I adjusted the Balance under the Volume settings to where the left speaker does more of the work. This semi-solved my problem.
IMO, there may be a hardware issue with the speakers when connecting to the main board behind the power on/off button.

seems haw to bring back to shop, maybe they will change it

[Q] volume going down because of headphone jack

The volume on my S3 i9300 is constantly going down, eventually to mute. Not instantaneously going to mute though, but the volume is gradually lowering until completely muting the device. I noticed then that if I adjust the headphone jack a little bit the problem won't happen anymore, until that is the jack rotates a little bit and the problem shows up again.
I jog with my phone in an armband so maybe that's sweat but I'm thinking that one should already be accounted for Samsung because I'm hardly the only person that exercises with their phone. Anybody has this issue? I was searching around Tasker to see if there is a way I could lock the volume at a determined level but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions?

Anyone with ticking sound?

Unlocked my white 32GB after 300 MB download. No issues.
Installed a few apps, nothing special yet, no system related apps.
This afternoon my N9 started ticking from the bottom speaker each time I touch the glass. Just unlocking via pattern does it also.
About 12-15 very quick clicks like a speaker wire is shortening out.
Any hope before I call in a RMA?

How loud are these clicks?
It isn't unusual to get quiet clicks and buzzes when using a device, the Nexus 4 for example is a famous for it, it constantly makes a noise if you put your ear to it even when it is sleeping.
The CPU and other components are awake shy. They spend a large amount of time in sleep mode, perhaps coming on for a millilsecond then going off for several milliseconds, then back on at the next touch where it needs to display a nice graphic or do something, then off again. Everytime the CPU switches on, so does a lot of electrical circuitry to drive the power requirements. Currents switching on and off flowing through wires creates noise, either audible directly, like the hum from a kettle or a buzz from a power supply, or via electrical noise that is picked up by other circuits, for example the amplifier for the sound, which then makes it audible. Almost every electronic device if you put your ear to it makes a noise and buzzes, often changing in tone when you make it do something.
So I would say if it is very quiet, only audible in a quiet room when near to the tablet, it's is probably just normal operating noise. You might find a replacement is quieter, or you may find it is louder. You may find someone else can't hear it at all, if you are young you are more likely to hear these things than someone who is older as we lose high frequency hearing as we get older, and listening to loud music in headphones makes it happen quicker
Of course if it is pretty loud, audible all the time and annoying, certainly go for a replacement.

Phil
Just wanna make sure, but you are not talking about the button touch sound on Android 5.0 are you? The sound has been changed to a very swooshing sound that almost sounds like static on an audio line.
Thank you guys for your input.
The sounds I observed were loud, not the near silent hum kind. More like a finger nail is hitting a window.
The sound got progressively louder during my trouble shooting.
It ended up in a total distorted, muffled tone coming from the bottom speaker.
Something inside shortened out.
I had a micro-Tesla conductivity meter this morning at my bench and I could see that by touching the screen even at the top it induced a small current directly at the bottom speaker.
I called an RMA and the N9 was declared DOA.
Replacement is in the mail.

When you called what did you tell them? Where did you get it from? I got mine from best buy, and have this same problem. I think I'm going to wait until its closer to my 14 day period... Maybe I'll get a second batch device.

Not me. The ticking sound was the first thing I listened for when was testing out the speakers. I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary.
Took me awhile to be sure though cuz the song i used to test actually did have occasional ticks in it. I had to relisten to it on my headphones and on my home theather system to be sure it was just the song and it was.

I told them just my findings. Repeated click sounds by touching screen from a single speaker. This was a direct Google order and they sent a replacement within 24 h's. No questions asked.
The new White N9 is perfect. No unusual click sounds. In addition to that, there is a little less light bleed and from the few hours I used it so far I get the feeling that the battery is lasting a good bit longer. The first N9 went from 100% to about 40% within 3 h's of trouble shooting, the replacement is still at 75% after I unlocked & rooted and put back all my files, about 2.5 h#s screen-on-time. Makes sense, since the constant shortening out the speaker uses electricity.
The serial number difference of the last 4 numbers is a 44 higher count number, so I believe its the same batch/lot.
Overall, a quick and painless exchange and Google's RMA process is one of the fastest and easiest I have gone through.

[Q] Speaker issues and bendin

So my Z2 tablet arrived today through the mail, and I'm already getting disappointed. To being with, the speakers lower volume by themselves, without reducing the actual system volume. I noticed that is only for music, be it on Walkman, Spotify or YouTube. It starts with regular volume and then it changes by itself gradually, and I have to reset volume or turn the tablet around so it can come back to its regular state, but just for a minute before audio goes down again. I also noticed sometimes a little grain noise on the right side speaker, although I read at some places this is due to the waterproof seal, need confirming on this though. Also, I got it today, didn't do anything to it and it's already kind of bent. The package came factory sealed, so I'm assuming it bent on my hands. Really? That easy? Anyways, do you guys know a solution to this speaker problem? It doesn't seem to be a hardware condition, since regular videos works fine. Is the software doing some sort of bull**** and altering the volume? Thanks in advance.
Send it back. If possible for full refund. Then buy again from elsewhere.

Bluetooth antenna issue.

After replacing the battery in my Z5 compact the bluetooth range is now poor.
With the phone in my pocket I get skipping/stuttering when using my headset.
If I place the phone down and walk away from it, my headset cuts out completely at about 10 feet, whilst stuttering up to that point.
Before I changed the battery the range was fantastic, easily 60+ foot, with direct sight to the phone, and zero stuttering. I have checked my headset on another phone (st27i) and there are zero issues, so it's not the headset.
I'm guessing I have done something to the hardware when I removed the old battery? I took out/disconnected everything that had to come out to the point I had the mobo loose enough to heat the battery with a hair dryer and carefully peel the battery off. Everything else works on the phone and I have checked the connections on the bluetooth antenna and they seem fine. One odd thing is that in the service test menu, the bluetooth test fails (even when it's connected) but in the help section of the bluetooth settings menu the bluetooth test says, pass, all ok. Is there something I have overlooked perhaps?

Phone makes a weird constant crackling sound when torch is activated.

As soon as torch is activated the phone makes a constant crackle (like static) sound which seems to originate near the top of the phone. If i put my ear up close under the static sound I can hear a second sound, quieter more like a motor spinning hum.
Any ideas?? I need to replace the screen so I need to open it but any suggestions as to what it is or what I am looking for?
Having just put my ear on the back of the phone it could even be coming from the middle of the phone but the top speaker area is noisy and bottom speaker area is quiet so......i'm confused as they are the same distance away.
I am flummoxed
I haven't heard of this problem specifically. But your description sounds like it might be capacitor hum/crackle. When a capacitor goes bad, it tends to make a hum or crackle. And not too many other electronic components make a "noise" when they fail. I also don't know if this is anything you can replace, without replacing the whole board. But maybe that give you a starting point, when you open up the phone. Good luck!
