Clock(process com.tapntap.clock2 not working - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody else have a problem that the built in clock app has stopped working?
I get this message:
The Application Clock (process com.tapntap.clock2) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I like that clock.
EDIT: All of my applications started failing one by one.
Forced Closes on Weather, Clock, Photos etc.
Sometimes with the USB plugged in it would see all the files on the internal SD card. Other times it would say the SD card was empty.
Sometimes with the USB unplugged ES File system would see the internal SD card as empty.
Sometimes it would see the files and the sample photos I downloaded and sometimes it would not.
This all started for no apparent reason at around 5:00 PM today.
I deleated all my downloaded files and I had to do a factory reset and lose all my data.
After that reboot, everything is working again for now. I bet others will have problems after the last VS upgrade to 3389.

I had exactly the same thing
Follow the instructions "[FAQ] Why are so many applications randomly force closing"
Cured it

Just a thought. One reset was enough for me. I put all gTab bookmarks into a very straight-forward simple HTML page that is now my gTablet homepage. If I bookmark a site on the gTablet, I soon add it to the HTML page. (I also do that for all my bookmarks collected over the years.) The pages take very liitle within the free space provided by my ISP. And I swept all the apk files off to a single directory on my laptop and additionally backed that directory to an external drive. Advantages? I never have to redo bookmarks or go looking for install files. I can change tablets in just a few minutes. Hope that helps.
Tom

You can find , when you go on google.com

Had the same problem and Dashboard will just say "Please wait" and will not respond. A "factory reset" helped me to fix this issue...

[Q] Move mail to storage card ?

OK, so I have an HD2 now and it's the same old problem Microsoft hasn't fixed. Yes, I can move both my attachments and mail to the storage card but if you move the email bodies to the storage card, the perpetual recurring "storage card2" problem still haunts us. If you just want to move the attachments to the card and you use the start the “Messaging” program, go to Menu, Options, Storage (tab) and check the box that says “When available use the storage card to store attachments” option, you will not have a problem. If you do reg edit yourself to accomplish this instead of letting the mail program create an attachment folder on your sd card, you may see the recurring 'storage card2' problem popping up after you receive your first attachment and soft boot. If you move the mail bodies to the card, you will no doubt experience this problem. After years of this problem, Microsoft has not had the courtesy or sense to fix it, which one of their programmers could probably do in an hour.
There are some that say this problem is caused by the mail program or a mail service calling up the mail attachment and mail directories on the SD card before the SD card driver is loaded. I'm not a phone or software hacker guru, but it doesn't make logical sense to me that any services or software can be loaded before the OS finishes loading the startup drivers. If this actually can and is being done on WM 6.5, someone please let me know ! A solution would be to change the loading order of the storage card driver to load sooner, which can be done through a reg entry, but if it's moved up in priority too much, before other possible dependent drivers are loaded, then the storage card will not load at all, and I'm not familiar enough to guess what priority I can move the card driver up to without causing issues. I'm also not convinced of this cause because if you just move the attachments folder to the card using the option in the mail program, you'll never have this recurring "storage card2" problem.
I can tell you that removing the mail notification from my today screen on my T-Mobile Wing definitely solved the problem. It may work as well if I remove the mail screen from the menu bar on my hd2 but I like that feature and I'm really more interested in solving the root of the problem once and for all.
PLEASE HELP ! Can anyone of you xda-dev's fix this problem once and for all !? Thousands of people have spent thousands of hours pulling their hair out over this issue and Microsoft doesn't care !
Here are my observations and comments from messing with this phone for an absurd amount of hours. These are an excerpt from a posting I made elsewhere so far without reply:
1. You don’t need to modify your registry to put attachments on the storage card. You simply need to start the “Messaging” program, go to Menu, Options, Storage (tab) and check the box that says “When available use the storage card to store attachments”. Soft reset. You’re attachments will now absolutely be stored on the storage card in a folder the program will create called Inbox.mstXXXXXXXXX.xxxxx with some numerical appendage. No "storage card2" issues.
2. You can make the above registry change to move the email body to the storage card, soft reset, then use the mail program and all of your email bodies will indeed go in to the folder you created. Until you actually download an email, you can reboot as many times as you like and no storage card2 will be created, but as soon as you download an email, a storage card2 folder will be created on your next soft boot.
You can usually just delete the newly created storage card folder without removing the sd card, and reboot at least twice and the 'storage card2' folder will automatically be renamed back to storage card and it will stay this way until you download another email and restart/soft boot. Then the storage card2 problem starts all over again.
I ultimately wound up putting the email bodies back into main memory and using the storage card for attachments. With the much larger amount of memory in the HD2 than older phones, I can store a more reasonable amount of email, however it does tend to slow the phone down when you store 1000 emails and it annoys the heck out of me that I can’t actually move all of this to the SD card.
If anyone actually comes up with a solution to the actual root of the problem, please let me know !
Thanks !
I Think I know cause
I had the problem (several times) before.
The trick to avoid: everything needed for winmo to run needs to be on internal storage.
I do not know how, but i feel if one could "delay" the startup of programs, or make programs dependent of each other, the problem can be solved.
Mail is crucial in Winmo, and always runs.
If mail is started before the sdcard is mounted the Storagecard2 problem pops up.
If it would be possible to delay startup of certain programs, I am convinced the problem disappeares.
Now WM has this possibility in HKLM/init with launchXX and DependsXX
Only..... What inits the sdcard?
Anyone?
Hi all,
I also possesses a HTC HD2 and I move the mails and attachments on the storage card. The problem is that the boot device storage card and rename it to "Storage Card 2".
The problem comes from Sense, it checks the mail at startup before the card is up, anyone know how one could detect the μSD before starting Sense?
I have HTC Sense disabled all the time. Same problem with Storage Card2.

[Q] My phone just did a hard reset and I need help

Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting.
I am a complete novice to this, and I'm looking for help. It this question has already been answered, then can you please point me in the right direction, cause I've had a look, and I can't see this issue anywhere.
I've had my HD2 since January, and it's been fine, till now. I tried to install an apparently "fixed" Swype specifically for the Telstra version of the HD2 found at , cause I really wanted to install it, but it never worked, however that's not my issue.
There must have been a virus or something on it, becuase all it did was successfully put my phone back in the stone age. I've lost all of my email sync, the contacts, settings, photos, and the biggest issue which I would like help with, my phone can't find the SD card any more...
Has anyone heard of this problem before? And if so, how can I get it to work?
It's not like the problems in the thread "SD card NOT reading" in the HD2 General page, it's that the phone does not recognise the SD slot any more... It's just vanished. I'm trying to search for it by going to file explorer, then tapping on the top left corner where it used to say "My Devide" and gave me the option of "external storage" or something like that...
If you need more information about ROM versions etc., please let me know how to get to it, and I'll let you know.
1. sign up for microsoft myphone
it will backup daily all contacts, sms, pictures, documents, etc.
It is free
http://sn1-p2.myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po?mkt=en-US
2. At this point, you are just going to have to start over. If you don't hard reset often (I usually do twice a week flashing), then you might want to look into a backup program. Backup once a week then you won't lose everything if this happens again:
http://www.spritesoftware.com/
http://spb.com/products/backup/
Both of these are good programs.
Cheers for that. I'll definately be doing that from now on, however it doesn't really help me with getting the SD card recognised again...
Looks like Your phone is connected to your computer as disk-drive (or "locked" in that position)
Look in your system settings (windows key, options, more) Connetcion > USB to PC.
Which option id selected? (Activesync, Disk Drive or Internet sharing)

[Q] Bluetooth not working after root....

Hey guys I rooted my Atrix about a month ago using gingerbreak and I finally got a new Bluetooth for it but when I try to turn on the Bluetooth on the phone it attempts to then dose nothing. I have tried restarting the phone and it didn't work. I don't know what else I can do besides factory restoring it, and if I can avoid that I would like to. Any ideas besides that?
Thanks,
Adam
No one has any ideas?
I have the same issue on two different phones. A soft reboot usually gets it working again, until I toggle it off. Then it won't turn on til next reboot.
I have the same exact problem.... tried a lot of things, but none succedd
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I tried battery pulling it and that didn't work either sadly.
Okay, Maybe this info helps. I believe its has something to do with a specific program being moved to the SD Card or sd card mounting.
I just had this happen. Bluetooth would not turn on at all. I decided to play Chuzzle and when my battery went low, I plugged the phone into my comp USB port. It disconnected the SD card in lieu of mass storage. Killed my game because it resides on SD Card. At this point, I decided to test bluetooth and it worked!! Don't have time to test it further but. I suspect something residing on the SD card maybe the culprit. Unfortunately, I have over 30 things on it so segmenting out is going to be a pain.
Do you all have programs on the SD card?
Yeah, i moved 111 apps using apps 2 sd... cant tell which one is related to bluetooth...

I was having the same trouble and noticed that plugging in USB in storage mode would "fix" my bluetooth... I used Optimize Toolbox too clear all my cache and remove old SMS messages (after a backup) and bluetooth seems to be working again
*Edit* this didn't seem to last after I moved a few apps back to the SD card... I'm giong to keep messing with this...
after much pissing around with moving apps back and forth the internal SD card no longer mounts when i plug into my PC... interesting... I'll continue to report any progress I make
I've removed the physical SD Card and determined the problem lay in the internal SD Card...
ok after some seemingly "random" application moves from SD to phone I have this "working". I think it's a possibly corrupt internal SD but I haven't gotten any of the warnings that I see other people get where the phone explicitly says as much, however here is why I still suspect it:
as I was using Optimize Tool Box to move apps I noticed it was moving them rather slowly and taking a few extra seconds to re-load the app list, after one move (a Dolphin HD plugin full screen froyo incase that matters) I noticed the refresh seems snappier,
I went out to my home screen and hit a bluetooth widget and BT started working, I tried moving a couple different apps back and it stopped working.
Here is a full list of apps I moved OFF my SD in the event that it is still app related and a list of my apps might be handy to see who has common apps
Remote VNC Pro
My Tracks
Knots Guide
ConnectBot
Retro Defense
Best Apps
FBReader
Fullscreen for Froyo
Net Ping
AndFTP
Amazon Kindle
BlastMonkeys
KeePassDroid
Terminal Emulator
AndroZip
DailyComix
Dungeon Defenders
SilverEdit
Linux Commands
Handcent Emoji Plugin
Movie Free
My Backup Root
OSMonitor
Handcent SMS Skin(Metal)
SMS Backup+
Thinking Space
I hope this can help someone fix their phone or better yet get us a litter further towards an actual solution.
These are on my list. They should not be moved to SD:
Firefox
Brain Cube
Rugby
Anyway, the problem seems to be solved on 4.5.91. I've been moving apps all day and yet my bluetooth is still working.

[Q] Apps moved on SD card disappear

Hi,
in the last times I've a problem on my HTC LEgend (non-rooted): i start to install apps and move those on external storage with A2SD.
All works normally, but if shutdwon the phone and restart, all the apps installed on SD are loose!!
All the links on the screen and in the menus are loose, and if I go in application manager, under applications, those installed on SD are listed but if I click on info, from this screen is impossible to remove the app.
Another strange think : from the memory manager, in settings, it's impossible to unmount external SD. They take a lot of time and I must terminate the process.
Last strange think : if I open the SD on PC there's all the contents.
Any suggestions?
P.S. : I've done an hard reset of the phone, and reinstalled all the apps that usually use (30-35 apps), but in this operation I don't formatted the SD.
Fast Boot option may be the culprit
In case anyone checks this old thread...
CUT TO THE SOLUTION BELOW -- SEARCH FOR ////
Some (not all) of my apps moved to SD (all by Titanium Backup Pro) have begun to disappear and (sometimes) reappear without warning after I began to add and delete large Virtual Machines created in QEMU from my 16GB SanDisc class 10 microSD card on my HTC Droid Incredible running rooted stock Verizon Android Froyo 2.2.3. I know this thread is far from my phone's "home base", but from what I can tell this problem with disappearing apps located on an sdcard is NOT determined by hardware or even Android version.
I also happen to use LauncherPro by Federico Carnales instead of the built-in HTC Sense launcher. I noted elsewhere on XDA that a user had suggested that because at least some (maybe all) launchers start before the SD Card that this may be a problem, especially if changes are made to the sdcard that the launcher did not perform, or was not active during their performance by other apps such as Titanium Backup. That fits my situation, because I unmounted the SD, physically removed it to a PC, and added/deleted large VM files to save (lots) of time. No problems of this sort before I did this, so there must be some connection.
I noted that other users have tried reformatting SD, substituting different brands of SD, using newer/older SD etc. None of these reliably helped. So I skipped these options.
//// The (simple!) solution I tried that SEEMS to work (only time will tell!) is buried in the main Android Settings (accessed from the Menu button while in Home screen). Under "Applications" there is a setting "Fast Boot" that I checked long ago and forgot about (it seemed like a good thing to do at the time). The text warns "Turn off to use some Market apps" (that shows the age of my 2-yr old used phone and Android OS -- ohmygosh!-- because it refers to Market rather than Google Play Store!) Anyway, I unchecked the option and rebooted the phone.
Yes, it took a bit longer to boot (maybe a whole minute!), but after waiting about another minute ALL my home screen apps had normal icons and loaded properly. Titanium Backup Pro batch scenarios confirmed there were no apps in a forced uninstalled state (i.e. I had not done the deed, the system somehow had done it or at least rendered the apps "invisible" to Titanium, which decided they needed reinstallation).
The only odd behaviour was that auto brightness was turned off after I unchecked Fast Boot and rebooted. Going into Android Settings > Display and rechecking "auto brightness" took care of that. No other oddities or strange behaviours thus far (but it has only been about an hour).
I will report back here on this thread only (Samsung Fascinate > Fascinate Q&A > What just happend? apps on sdcard) if anything else requires reporting. Silence implies success!

(I am copying this post to other relevant threads, but will not post anything further elsewhere -- only there. This is a bit arbitrary (although this thread appears to be the most recent active one on this topic), but I hope this approach pleases the XDA sysops/admins)

copied files to sd card and phone apps are hanging

Hi folks,
has any of you seen this?
I have the atrix 4g, I have a 16GB sd card, I copied some files (like 2GB in mp3) to the sd card, I safely removed the device from my computer, then from the atrix status bar I changed the usb mode to none and it mounted the card just fine, but now when I try to open apps like gallery, music player, files, or even winamp, they will just hang and I have to force close application.
Also, it drying out the battery very quickly, is like is hanging in trying to read the files.
What can I do? I don't want to have to reset the phone.
Any ideas?
Hi, ok I found the process taking all the cpu, is android.process.media, I dont know what is trying to do, how can I tell why is hanging?
I cant stop it either, is it important?
Thanks

I've had this problem twice. I think that the Atrix's software cant handle so much new media at one time. The first time it happened I ended up preforming a factory reset, which fixed everything (Make sure to back up first!) The second time was when I was adding lots of music again, and since I'm doing this constantly, I ended up unlocking and flashing to CM7.
hmmm yes this ain't my first time with this problem either and i had to reset as well. but that's too much work, i have a mod for the lapdock and having to reinstall is a real pain. but anyway I've manage to kill the media process with the kill -9 command using the terminal emulator as root and t this released everything else, gallery and music are working fine. i still don't know what will affect if i don't let the process start again, i might look for an app that would help me prevent it from starting , but if it causes any pain i will try maybe another flash like you said .
thanks
ok, I might have found another solution, may be too prompt but wanted to share.
I kept searching on google and found more options, since killing the media process wasnt very useful, eventually it would start again and hang everything. Basically, go to Settings, Applications, manage applications, all, tab on media storage and then Clear Data, go back tab media share and clear data, then reboot the phone.
After reboot the media process will start again and will scan all drives, I can see it taking something between 20 and 40%, the common at 25%, is way below the 60% that it was using before, so I gave it a second chance and let it running for a while.
Indeed, after some minutes it finished the rescan and cpu went back to 0% on the media process and I was able to open gallery, music, etc.
So, I kept all my files in the sd card, didnt have to factiry reset and the media process went back to normal.
Hope this is permanent, and hope it works to anyone else with the same.
cheers
