wondering z4root is worked on the latest firmware? i am headche bout this ...

the z4root does not work on the current firmware (2.0.2.A.0.24). As jimbo77 mentioned, this works on 2.0.A.0.504 (older one).
I think jimbo77 try to say that you can have JITv2 enabled without update to the 2.0.2.A.0.24

Thank you for your guide, I have finally both Jit and xRecovery installed on my X10i.
I have 622 on my first run , I suspect it is due to my sD card which is the one provided with my cellphone.

That is weird... have you installed Zdizihu's JIT? IF so please do as follows go into Recovery mode and navigate to advanced something I can't remember right now and look for "wipe Dalvik cache" select it and then reboot... you'll notice a better score....
Sent from my X10i

EDIT: Nevermind....Noob move...already had xrecovery and JIT installed, was trying to clean up junk apps so did whole process to find out it was removing timescape, backup and restore, etc. which I had also already done with Titanium Backup.

I have the previous version of JIT installed, can I run this over?
If I do not want to remove the junk apps, is it possible to skip this step in section 9?

Yes and Yes... You can overwrite the JIT version you have and you can skip the Junk Cleaning step... Just don't run that script....
After you install JIT V2 I recommend you to do a Dalvik Cache wipe just as 1 post above....
Cheers

Hmm well did you run both scripts xrecovery & xrecovery-reinstall in that order?... I've done the same steps a lot of times with no issues....

Does this work ok with asop 008a? I have jit v2 already and xrecovery v1 but what happens if you run remove junk apps or is this just for 'stock roms?'
Sent from my AOSP on Xperia (US) using XDA App

I think so coz it will go and delete some SE apps like timescape which are not included in Jerpelea's custom ROMS... but I can include some others if you want me to... Just PM me the app names...

Hi, many thanks for this guide it worked like a charm. However I have not been able to access the recovery menu again when using the normal method of hitting back button. Any advice would be great. Cheers Will.

Odd since I'm following the same procedure. Why don't you re install busybox from market and run the first 2 scripts only... then reboot and try again...
I haven't had any issue with this method ever it is just like flawless for me....

That did the job. I only seem to get xrecovery by rebooting through gscript not the normal way. Anyway thanks for the reply. Oh, is jit the ultimate optimizer for stock2.1 or are there other good tricks to use? Just out of interest. Cheers.

very goood it finally works, thanks a lot

Hi, I've got the same thing. Freezes when I press back after reboot .
Someone said something about restarting from gscript? But how do you do that?
Help is appreciated!

Rebooting from gscript? Use the First Script the one that says "Reboot Phone"
Ok. Try reinstalling Busybox from the Market... Then Re run once again Xrecovery.sh and Xrecovery-reinstall.sh..
Download and Install Quick Boot from the market and try rebooting from there (USe ONly the Reboot Option)... Right after the SE white logo appears press like crazies lol the back key...
I've done this same procedure so many times without any error....
Let me know if this helps ok?
Cheers!

Ok, did all that, still doesn't work, still freezes!
A little feedback
Recoveryscript:
mkdir failed for /data/local/tmp/xrecovery, File exists
stderr: rm failed for -rf, read-only file system
stderr: cp: not found
stderr: cp: not found
stderr: cp: not found
Xrecovery- reinstall script:
mounting /system rw...
copying chargemon script..
copying busybox script..
done.
reboot your phone.
In the quick boot tool there is also the option to xrecovery boot? Shouldn't I do that then ?
My battery is only 15%, could that be a reason?
Appreciate your help though!

mind listing out what app will be removed under clean junk? thanks

Right.. I'm refering to the apps with changed icons. I'm not sure if there's any difference between Mini and Mini Pro versions of this apk's and I don't wan't to "brick" and recover my phone for the 5th time
I've included the original files to my previous post.

Thanks for the back up are they the original files. For mini pro and are they from the latest firmware.
There is a discussion on pulloff thread about htc icons they work on mini with the latest firmware not sure if they work on pro.
When i open CMD and write adb shell --> i get $
then i write su, but i get permission denied?
I need the # right?
And when i do have the #, will i just copy the 40 lines from here, and then its on the phone?
1.2.A.1.174
That's the latest firmware

The files are straight from my X10 mini pro running 1.2.A.1.174 build
That's what I'm asking. I'd love to use the theme and have it fully black, but I don't want to mess with the funcionality of the apps, if they're different.
Oh well.. I guess I can always download the modified files, extract the assets and do the modification on my own.

Thanks a lot for the files .
I used root explorer.
Easiest way.
Make sure u have rooted your device and have super user installed.
U need root explorer or any explorer which allows you to r/w files.
This is the istructions.
Do it one by one if your scared.
Make sure you mount to r/w and also keep an eye on 1ow icon since it changes back to r/o. When browsing certain folders.
Copy framwork to sytem and set the permission, then move to framworw folders .
Copy the other apk files to sytem and set permission, then move to apps folder.
How to set permission
Hold on to the file e.g framework a list of option will pop up scroll to permission and tick the 1st two boxes on the first line and the 2nd and 3rd line tick the 1st box only ,then un tick any other box which I havnt mentioned.
Then reboot your phone.
Good lick
Don't use root explorer method for htc icon it dosent work.

You need to Accept superuser permissions in Your phone. Until application won't have it You will receive "Permission denied" message.
For second question - You need to input them one by one.

[GUIDE/BUGLIST] AOSP 2.1 ROM Bugs and Fixes | Post questions here

AOSP 2.1 Bug List - by FreeX10 (jerpelea and zdzihu)
THE DEV THREAD IS NOT A DISCUSSION THREAD!!!
Because the main DEV thread has become so cluttered with useless posts, i will try to condense all the Bugs and Fixes into the one post here. The DEV thread is not a thread to discuss what you would like to see in the next version, or a thread to ask why something was not included in the ROM. I do not have anything to do with the development of these ROMS but am trying to make life easier for Jerpelea and Zdzihu. If you have questions, answers, bugs or fixes, this is the place to post them.
AOSP 2.1 Changelog (Features that are working, and when they were resolved)
Changelog is here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=464170&d=1292341044
Current Issues and the Corresponding ROM version
** 007a
- Rom is in final release and is quite stable. Few users reporting reboot issues but seem to be related to individual users settings.
- Left button unlocking screen when in lock mode - workaround is to enable pattern unlock feature
- unable to get straight back into xrecovery menu without reinstalling - some users reporting this (myself included) - Fix is to manually reinstall menu using zdzihu's instructions here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9561575&postcount=1
-
** 007
- sorry, been a bit slack updating this list - PM me if you want anything listed.
** b006
- wifi not coming back after turning it off - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9707776&postcount=4291
- Launcher Pro Plus FC after removing ADW - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9708084&postcount=4296
- [FIX FOUND] Vignette image garbled - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9712316&postcount=4340
make sure you have latest version of Vignette installed - seems to work ok.
- 2G Connection is not constant - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9713159&postcount=4345
- [FIX FOUND]3G not connecting - no APN's - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9713110&postcount=4344 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9782564&postcount=34
Some users are saying if you manually enter your APN details, it all works
This is a work in progress so please PM me with the problem or post the specific issue here. Over the next few days i will be attempting to compile a list of all the bugs for the various versions of 2.1 AOSP Roms.
Lets keep the dev thread for what it is supposed to be - where the Devs can bounce ideas and list fixes and version releases.
Tim.
Installation Guides
What do you need...
- X10
- Root access (can be obtained many ways - z4root is probably the easiest - download z4root from market)
- ROM file (see below)
- USB cable to connect phone to pc
- zdzihu's Recovery menu needs to be installed also, and for this you need to be on 2.1 - does not work with 1.6 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9561575&postcount=1 or installation guide below.
- patience!
AOSP 2.1 - Black Freedom
- Download ROM file from here => http://hotfile.com/dl/89981020/d198ed1/BlackFreedom_signed_007a.rar.html
- connect phone to pc and mount the SD card.
- Within the .RAR file is a .ZIP file - extract this to your phones SD card and rename it to Update.zip
- reboot phone and enter recovery menu (repeatedly pressing BACK as soon as the Sony Ericsson logo appears)
- a good idea is to take a backup of your phone before going any further - Backup and Restore, and then choose Backup. This will create a folder on your SD Card called XRecovery/Backups and will create a sub-folder for each backup. I have tested renaming these sub-folders to something usefull with no issues!
- Once backup is complete, zdzihu recommends running a "full wipe" - make sure you choose the correct option here, it is on the main screen and says "Factory Reset (full wipe)" - THIS IS AN OPTIONAL STEP
- once wipe is complete, click "Install update.zip from SD Card" - this is why we renamed the .zip file earlier.
- phone will install rom and bring you back to menu when completed. simply reboot and it will launch the AOSP 2.1 ROM
Let me know if these steps are not clear and i will edit them. i did them in 5 minutes before leaving to go away for the weekend

There are 3 main ways to install this menu. The main method is via the .APK file that zoz33 created.
Other methods are a manual file copy using root explorer or using the old gscript file (outdated method).
I guess you could also ADB but i wont go into that method.
What you need...
- 2.1 ROM on your phone, this will not work with 1.6 Android.
- The files for the install are here - xRecovery 0.2-release
- Phone must have ROOT access and have busybox installed from the market (this is crucial)
Method 1 - APK File
1. Download the APK file and copy it to your phone (attached to this post)
2. Install the APK file and run it.
3. Click on the "Install xRecovery" button. In most cases, this will simply install the menu and you are done!
If you get errors, you may need to try the manual method below.
Method 2 - Manual installation
1. Download the APK file again and rename it to a .zip file (replace .apk with .zip)
2. open the new .zip file and extract the /res/raw folder inside. It should contain 3 files (chargemon, busybox, xrecovery.tar)
3. Using root explorer (and make sure R/W mode is enabled) copy the 3 files listed about directly into /system/bin
4. reboot phone and tap back button until recovery menu appears.
As usual, PM me or post a reply if the instructions are not clear.
Cheers.
Cannot Enter Service Menu
Tried At the lock screen, press home, back, back, home, back, home, home, back (both Home and Menu)
Service Menu.apk does not work, error message flashes to quick to read
I cant install the ASOP using the recovery menu. When I select "Install update.zip from SD Card"
It say " E:Cant open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)."
Do i have to extract the ERD79_Update_signed_b006.rar? or edit the name? Help needed ASAP!

Hi! i´m really impressed so far, but i love my camera too much.. is there any way we could use the original camera app for 2.1? if there is, that might solve the errors + give us better settings...

firstly i would like to thank Bin4ry & Androxyde for the FlashTool and the option to "reboot into xrecovery from flashtool" as this mod/script is based on that..

this requires some advanced knowledge on how to modify system files, all step required are mentioned here, though if u are uncomfortable with it i will be attaching some pre-modified file for vanilla roms, which should work with most custom roms. in case they dont work u can just upload the 'chargemon' file located in /system/bin/ here and i will repost it the necessary modifications.
[MANUAL WAY]
[step 1] Modify boot hijack file 'chargemon'
(not required if u are on 2.1 stock se rom and have used Flashtool 0.2.8 to install xrecovery, in which case these modifications will already be in place)
- this file is located in /system/bin/
- make a backup of this file, on the sdcard, before editing
- i would recommend using Root Explorer to navigate to this file, mount the partition as r/w (click "Mount R/W" in upper right hand corner)
- long press on the 'chargemon' file this will bring up a menu and select "Open in Text Editor"
- find the following lines of text
Code:
if [ -s /dev/keycheck ]
then
- and modify it to the following
Code:
if [ -s /dev/keycheck -o -f /data/local/tmp/flashtool ]
then
# remove 'reboot into xrec' file
rm -f /data/local/tmp/flashtool
*** ONLY for those who have offline charging enabled in their roms (if u are uncertain about this just check if there is a file named 'charger' in /system/bin/ , most custom roms will have this feature) i have done some additional thing here, i have moved the placement of the command for the offline-charger file 'charger' to the beginning of this script so that even if anyone get stuck up at boot atleast they will be able to charge the device without getting into the OS. also please check for any other occurrence of the command '/system/bin/charger' anywhere else in the file, if there is another then just put a # in front of it like '# /system/bin/charger' ***
*** if u dont have the /system/bin/charger file then dont bother with the following code ***
Code:
/system/bin/charger
if [ -s /dev/keycheck -o -f /data/local/tmp/flashtool ]
then
# remove 'reboot into xrec' file
rm -f /data/local/tmp/flashtool
- once u finish editing click on menu button and "Save & Exit"
- now u need to check the permissions of the 'chargemon' file. if u using Root Explorer navigate to '/system/bin/' then "mount r/w" and long press on 'chargemon' file and select 'Permissions'... make sure the permissions are as follows:
- after this i would suggest u restart the device to check if u are able to access xreovery the normal way (repeatedly pressing/tapping 'back' key when u see SE text logo) and if the device boot up into the OS without any issue
- incase everything goes well make a backup of this modified 'chargemon' file too, in case u have any problems put up a post here
* i will also be attaching some pre-modified generic files for vanilla roms, which should work with most custom roms. *
[step 2] the actual Reboot into xRecovery script
- u need to install the following app GScript Lite, our fellow XDA member rogro82 has posted this tool here
- after installing, launch the app, click on menu button, "Add Script"..
- fill up the text boxes as follows:
- u need to enter some name in the smaller textbox and the following into the large textbox:
Code:
touch /data/local/tmp/flashtool
reboot
* some custom roms are not permitting reboot command if SU rights are not there... u need to make sure that the option "Need SU?" is checked (ticked) else the device wont be able to reboot from the script... *
- now save the script
- u can create a shortcut on the homescreen to GScipt Lite and select the reboot into xrecovery script
- if u try running the script a popup for SU permissions might come up, this will only come the first time its run, select "Allow" and then ur device will reboot into xrecovery...
- thats it! now whenever u want to reboot into xrecovery just launch the shortcut!!!
also if anyone could integrate this into the Reboot options in Power menu it would be great for everyone!!!
may be modders/themers can add this into their reboot options of power menu in their themes...
for specific threads of other Xperia android devices go HERE

Great idea! This would be even better if you could make it into some kind of apk to be able to do the nessesary changes?
Edit
I misunderstood. So for now reboot to recovery through power menu is still not possible? It would be great if it would be possible to make reboot to recovery possible through an apk or a newer modified recovery menu.

actually its in /system/bin/ for most roms.. in cm7 its in /system/recovery/ and if u use flashtool 0.2.8 to install xrecovery (on 2.1 roms) its in /system/recovtools/
but the thing is we are not touching xrec at the moment... i have jsut suggested changes to chargemon file, which will later execute commands to extract xrecovery, so only the 'if' condition is changed and one delete (rm) command added...

Also, could you put the nicer button images from rom manager?
EDIT: Well, in fact, why not include this in ROM Manager, and end the development of this app, and xrecovery install app?

ROM Manager it's a ROM MANAGER, not a recovery installer, so I dont see the point adding this to ROM Manager, and the buttons, why ? if you just are gonna need to have the app open like 10 seconds ?,

One question? If someone is having CWM recovery and wants to install xRecovery or vice-versa, will it replace or we have to manually replace 'em?

Use SuperOneClick 1.9.5 to root phone.
Update SuperUser from Market to have last busibox.
Install File Manager to be able to install Recovery Installer, ROM Manager.... and validate if installation works fine!

I see that my chargemon file is not good, so not updated and recovery.tar is not in system/bin!?!

Your rom it's not supported by my app, your chargemon it's binary.. **** you SE , you should update to 2.2, or downgrade some older 2.1
EDIT: Uploaded 1.1, check changelog
I am facing exactly the same issue(2.1.1.A.0.6). You discontinued xRecovery .apk Installer way too soon. At least you should have left the latest file links. I am stuck with stock rom until I have some free time to do this manually.
Fix for 2.1.1.A.0.6 Users, INSTALL BUSYBOX!, please read first post

Nope, apk will not remove .tar, but will overwrite chargemon, so you dont need to do anything
It's already installed! I press "Install CWM Recovery" and nothing happens. Unless I need some specific Busybox version. (Used 1.9 @ /system/bin and tried also system/xbin)

Just download BUSYBOX INSTALLER from market, and dont modify anything, will install last busybox version, and make symlinks ..
EDIT: Opps just found problem, it's compiled for 2.2, sorry 2.1 users
That's exactly what I did. Installed stock rom-->root--->installed busybox installer with default settings--->run recovery installer and press "Install CWM Recovery" --> waited for sometime but no sign that something was done-->Rebooted device and tried to enter recovery mode - nothing happens.
Will repeat the whole process again and see if anything changes.
I can re-confirm the issue above. I guess I have to wait to see if other users face the same issue. Until then I'll have to follow the path of xrecovery and slade's rom.
Aha, just noticed your edited post : " Opps just found problem, it's compiled for 2.2, sorry 2.1 users" ... I guess that's the reason
On stock rom, install busybox from the market to reate symlinks, and then replace the /system/bin/busybox with the one avaiable on older xrecovery installation

=====================
What's it do?
It makes your phone FAST... super snappy with better multitasking!
It rearranges and fixes the OOM Groupings and Priorites and lowmemorykiller values.
So basically, it's a COMPLETE MEMORY MANAGEMENT FIX!
It's the ONLY one of it's kind
NO LAUNCHER REDRAWS, faster than ever, multitasking is better... why?
Because it works with the lowmemorykiller and letting it work the way it's meant to work.
Also, because of the rearrangement, it works the same on all roms!
The problem with using minfree tweakers like AMM or AKMO is that it doesn't work the same on all roms.
Secondary apps may be in slot 3 on some roms but in slot 5 in others!
That's why you hear people comment "I tried AKMO but it didn't do anything..."
Most likely it didn't do anything because the apps weren't sitting where they were expected to be.
So fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride!
=======================
Requirements:
1. Rooted Phone. (ZergRush method or etc)
2. Script Manager or Terminal Emulator to run the script. Stock ROMs can also use SM to load up boot scripts! (find in market)
3. Busybox 1.18.2 OR LOWER - 1.18.3 or newer are VERY much a hassle with errors that should NOT be errors!
=======================
Installing/Using:
1. Download the attached V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt script and save to your sdcard.
... Do NOT run the V6 SuperCharger install script at boot!
2. Load the script (V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt) into Script Manager and select "Run as Root."
3. Touch the screen for the soft keyboard or slide out the keyboard and get SuperCharged! Just pick an option!
4. READ the script's output!
5. Afterwards, READ the html HELP FILE in the root of your SD Card!
6. Disable "Lock Home in Memory" if your ROM has this option.
7. Optional: For a quick status check, you can put a Script Manager widget for V6 SuperCharger on you desktop
=================================
STEP BY STEP WITH PICTURE
Step 1: Download and Install Busybox Installer
Select the version 1.18.2, the Version 1.18.3 or newer are VERY much a hassle with errors that should NOT be errors! (From Original Zeppelin Thread)
Step 2: Download and Install Script Manager
After installing, run the app, press the MENU button and go to MORE and then in ADVANCED OPTIONS and now in CONFIG and leave the options marked exactly as shown in the screen below:
Step 3: Download the Script V6 SuperCharger from link belove post
Put it in the root of MicroSD card.
Step 4: Run the Script Manager
Open the "V6-SuperCharger_for_Android-update3b.sh.txt" and check the option "Run as root" ONLY
Now, run the script!
Firstly, choose the Scrolling text Speed, from 1 to 3
Touch the screen and tap the number 6, Balanced 3, the best choice for Arc, and hit ENTER .... The script will work .... after finished, touch the screen again and tap the number 16, to exit, and press the HOME button.
NO NEED TO DO STEP 5 AND STEP 6 ANYMORE.
ZEPPELIN FIXED, AND NOW THE SCRIPT RUN AUTOMATICALLY AFTER THE BOOT!!
Step 7: REBOOT YOUR PHONE!
Step 8: Now let's take the test, if it worked or not:
Run the Script Manager again;
Run the script "V6-SuperCharger_for_Android-update3b.sh.txt". Do not forget, "Run as ROOT"
And see if it is exactly as picture below, if written "Launcher is .... HARD TO KILL!" and just above "NOTE: Current Minfrees = 6, 8, 26, 28, 30, 32 mb" its WORKING!

after installing the script you have to set the /data/99SuperCharger.sh to run at boot.
open script manager, go to /data/ and select 99SuperCharger.sh set run as root and run at boot.
reboot and all should work.

AFAIK stock launcher don't have the ' lock home screen' feature.. so, no need to disable it since it doesn't have it...
You don't need to disable it for work, it will work anyway.

this tutorial is for which script version of v6 supercharger? coz the latest RC4 version is kinda different than this... there's some extra steps (compared to this tutorial) that i don't really understand what it was saying.. so, i chickened out to further research it first...
after reboot it gives me Launcher is HARD TO KILL ie.SUPERCHARGED its ok but th enext thing Current Values DONT MATCH Prior SuperCharge
Current minfrees=8,12,16,24,38,32mb
prior V6 minfrees=6,8,26,28,30,32 mb what to do now?
Yeahhh. Same as me. Its seems like there's nothing happen.

I alreday do the 'run at boot'. When check the script manager after reboot, the ssupercharger is indeed running. But the results still shows that the current dont match even I already set it to balance.
hm wont work for me.
I made all exactly like this Tutorial, but after reboot and Checkin, .....here:
My Rom is SE.Tweaked v0.5, Standard Launcher is GO Launcher EX
After i re-installed my Custom Rom, it seems to work.
Its very fast, but what is the meaning of:
"launcher is....BULLETPROOF! ie. SUPERCHARGED!"
is this right?
I had the same problem as user Supersonic335. So I followed jack47"s advice and it really worked. Now it shows me
Code:
Current minfrees=6,8,25,30,35,35 mb
prior V6 minfrees=6,8,25,30,35,35 mb
(according to setting #3 which was recommended for ARC/NEO)
