[TUTORIAL] How to recover the theme of your X8! - XPERIA X8 Themes and Apps

Intoduction
Hey guys,
There are different kinds of themes since X8 has updated to 2.1 with root, but once if you replace the theme wrongly may lead the phone crash!
Words in red are talking about controls on Android
* This tutorial is for sharing purpose, for any damaging, I don't take any responsibilities!!
Preparation
Don't worry, actually the theme is the file called "framework-res.apk" in the /system/framework
To recovery the framework-res.apk , you can use xrecovery to recover it,
for more details about xrecovery please go to here
Other than the xrecovery, you also need a ROOTed phone and a USB Cable
* xrecovery requires ROOTed phone, if you are using for
1.6 root go to here
2.1 root go to here / here / here
Method 1
After you have booted into xrecovery, follow the steps:
1) Go to "Partition tools"
2) Click "Mount /system" (after clicking it, it should have changed to "Unmount /system"
3) Leave the phone, don't switch it off
4) Connect the phone via the USB Cable and go to Windows
5) Place the framework-res.apk in the directory where the adb is (remember to name the theme as "framework-res.apk" or else it doesn't work!)
6) Go to Adb (if you don't know what is adb, search on the net)
7) Type or copy the following commands
Code:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
8) Wait a little while after it was done, unplug the USB Cable
9) Back to your phone, the xrecovery should be still running, go back and select "Reboot Phone"
10) Wait a while until it boots, it should work
Method 2 (If you have another launcher installed in the phone)
If the Method 1 doesn't work, try this
Do as the Method 1 says, then if it boots up, there is still a way to recover your phone!
When it boots up, the phone might keep showing up a message about "force close"
juz keep clicking it, and use another phone and call your phone, then end call
try a few times if it doesn't work, click "force close" if it appears...
juz keep clicking and when the launcher select menu shows, click the one that works
Go to root explorer (it should not have crashed, i think...)
go to "/system"
Click the button on the top right hand corner and take access to the "/system"
The button should have changed to "Mount R/O"
Now, you can access the files
Go to "/system/app"
Reinstall the important things that "force close" had shown
Thats the way I recover my phone~
Downloads
ORIGINAL X8 framework-res.apk 2.1 (credits go to propc for uploading it)
* Other themes are here, you can search them there
Ask if you don't know, I am not a prfessional, but we can discuss about it
Please feel free to share the themes in this thread !!!!

I don't think it's neccessary to share themes here,as the subforum already exists.
BTW, thanx for the tutorial.

thats nice!!!
this has helped me a lot!!!
thx very much!!

Im no expert on android but from my time developing roms for windows mobile theme compatibility comes down to the resolution. as this varies phone to phone it makes life easier to have device specific theme sections.
On another note Nice tutorial! It took me long enough to work it out.

Or you can just replace ROM in xrecovery after taking a backup and if replacing gets messed up you can do a restore lol

Or you can apply the .zip (in my attachment) in xrecovery.

kindly check the guide if this really works,
i've tried the guide but i got endless reboot on start-up...

[Q] Please make a apk for installing black (or any other color but blue) theme

Sorry guys, but this Linux stuff really is difficult and scary (don't want to F**** up my phone) for a lot of people. It would be GREAT to have a apk or something like that to install for example the black theme. Is that at all possible?????????
Totally agree with you because I messed my phone up by trying to install the black theme... had to reflash it :/ but tbh I havent found a single helpful person who has told me how to do something properly... so good luck finding someone who will make this...
p.s. I don't think its possible atm afaik.
You can install the blach theme easy if u use RootExplorer.
1. copy the Theme framework-res to your sd-card
2. open RootExplorer go to /system and mount to r/w
3. go to /sd-card , long press on framework-res and move to /system
4. long press on framework-res and set permission to 644 (like the picture)
5. move framework-res to /framework and overwrite.
6. close RootExplorer and reboot.
EDIT: This manual is only for framework-res and other system apps like Phone.apk etc.
You should not use this for example for the clockwidget from black HTC-theme.
Don't try the above way, thats how I bricked my Mini!

@Manny
I disagree with you. This is the simplest and most easiest way to install firmware and I have done it quite a few times. The secret lies in setting the permission. Set the permission as advised, save permission and rechek once more that permission is not changed back to orignal.
But, its not a safe way because if the permissions are set back to normal even after you've double checked and you overwrite the framework you have a brick... he is asking for a safe way (there are chances of bricking your phone). say for example if I replace the framework and I end up with a brick is there any way of fixing it without having to re-flash? if there is then I will call this a safe way

Thanks a million, just made someone very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(by the way, thank you SE for f***ing up a otherwise perfect phone,
blue and not changeable, what were they thinking, btw, if the mini doesn't
get 16 million colors when 2.1 comes, you f***ed it up again)
+1 for black easy way
Works now

Thats the reason why this method isnt save. Do it next time with SDK.
why does this work for some and yet not others?

Help! I just try to modify my framework-res and my phone has some troubles! I can't run some apps, even the preferences.
I have the original file saved but I can't run Root Explorer to replace it. What can I do?
PS: OK, I use PC Companion to reinstall the system, it's back!
Very Bad
Come on people this is xda ... you have just lost the fun in using ADB ... The whole fun lies in the procedure in changing the theme. And BTW , why do you use PC companion in reflashing the device?? The OP has posted a great way to get your device running again using rootshell ...
The fun part of linux is the terminal and you're now killing it!!!
Anyways , this is just my opinion!
Regards
I tried this way and now my phone is rebooting a lot, it shows the splash an then resterts again, I cant turn off to fix it,
Is thera any way to replace the framework res from my pc? I have original framework back up,
I tried to reflash but SEUS and PC Companion not work for me :/

I try it the 2d time (my device was really locked this time), but I've got an error:
Code:
failed on '/sdcard/...' - cross device link
So I use PC Companion again and I lost all my apps and prefs.

I like that opinion! I started with adb and it just gives satisfaction when you succeed! i want more adb haha. at least, when my phone does not stop working.
try to reed some topics in the xda forums and search for adb and you will learn how to do it and you can make your x10 black within 1 day(a few hours..)

[HOWTO] install Androidiani & implement themes on the XT720.

This is a guide I've compiled to simplify Androidiani theming on the XT720. Took me forever to read posts & work through trial & error... credit to Kalagas & Zepplin Rox for the majority of this post, I just compiled into one guide.
------------------------------------------------------------
1st install Open Recovery
If you already have open recovery, but not andriodiani, download Androidiani to your desktop.
Open the zip & copy the “open recovery” folder to your sdcard root (copies over all previous OR files).
Copy the “update.zip” file from Androidiani to your sd card root & leave it there (nothing else to do with this file at this point).
Then boot your phone into recovery (power up, when 1st boot animation appears, hold down the ‘volume up’ key).
You should have the androidiani menu above the standard OR menu.
Just reboot your phone to normal operating android os.
Download the desired theme to your desktop from theme developer.
Use windows/linux via usb to create the following folders on your sd card, you have to create the folders manually the 1st time, 1-4 below:
1) sdcard/OpenRecovery/theme/froyo/apps/All modded .apks
2) sdcard/OpenRecovery/theme/froyo/bootanimation/empty
3) sdcard/OpenRecovery/theme/froyo/fonts/empty
4) sdcard/OpenRecovery/theme/froyo/framework/framework-res.apk
Open the theme zip & copy the files to their respective folders you just created.
OK lets go for it....
Reboot into Androidiani OpenRecovery . (power up, when 1st boot animation appears, hold down the ‘volume up’ key).
Just to be sure make Wipe cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik-cache.
Then choose Froyo 2.2.1 Modding Menu - Menu Install and Restore Theme - Install Theme, pick the install option and let it finish.
After Theme is installed, make again Wipe cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik-cache and Reboot.
You should have your new theme up & running.
Go Pack Go!
Do you have any links to some themes?
Only one I know of is Khalpower's MiuiXT... it is pretty sweeeet!

What am I supposed to install the update.zip file? Just copy it the the sd card root and leave it there? Or is there a menu option in Androidiani/OR that I'm supposed to choose? Little confused at that point. I can reboot into Open Recovery and there's a multicoloured droid in the background (as opposed to a straight green one).

I did indeed get it working sort of, Thank you! I lost access to the menu that pops up when you hit the power button (the shutdown/airplane mode). The phone would just power the screen down and then rebooted immediately.
As such I'm going back to square one and reflashing it back to 2.1, and try upgrading to 2.2 again. Not as bad as it sounds... since my 32GB class 10 sd card arrived this morning.
G.
P.S. I re-read my original message and it came off sounding a bit rude, please attribute it to lack of sleep and accept my apologies.

[Q]Help with GingerBlur v2.0 text messaging program[Fixed]

Hey all i just wanted to ask is there any way 2 get the old text messaging program back instead of the one thats installed with this one i liked the stock Antrix one. And i know before u could say yes or no to install it but he changed the install methed and could not do that no more so if any one could help me please do so thanks <3
Well i fixed it i found this

For those like me who need corporate sync and like the blur universal inbox you can install just that portion of the moto bloatware instead of all of it.
** EDIT ** I'm adding a couple more applications now. Please, others jump in to do other applications because I'm out of time working on my Atrix for this week!
** WARNING ** I'm not an android dev and this process has only been tested on my phone. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
There are 3 files attached.
messaging.zip - restores original blur messagine apps, including corporate sync, txt messaging with balloon conversation mode, and the universal inbox. It does not have the messaging widget.
taskman.zip - if you liked moto's Task Manager app, this will restore it for you so you can kill tasks and uninstall like before GB.
gallery.zip - restores the moto Medial Gallery application. Note the GB version of Gallery will still exist and both will work.
Quick instructions:
* You will need CWM Recovery for this
* Follow CWM instructions exactly - especially the part about plugging into the AC adapter or it won't work!
**NOTE** this will also install the original blur txt messaging interface with the conversation balloon mode. Its all one application so no way around it that I know of.
1) copy one of the zip files (attached) to your sdcard root directory
2) run CWM according to instructions in its thread
3) after reboot into CWM select "Install zip from SDCARD"
4) select "Choose zip from internal sdcard"
5) scroll down to the zip file name (ex: messaging.zip)
6) select the file (power button) and run the update
7) go back to main menu and select "Reboot system now"
A few steps but doesn't take long. I just pulled these out of the gingerblur-bloatware.zip and figured out what file structure you have to leave in place for it to function.
Hope this will save people some time.

I think there's a bloatware restorer on the greyblur site. Try that.
Will that install it all back tho or will i be able to pic
well ill look at it and see if it can do only one thing
thanks i forgot about that
Alright so i found them in the files there how do i delete the new one and get this old one back on there? im so confused help!
Still have not figured it out some one help?
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/d...-reinstall-deleted-system-apps-bloatware.html
That thread helped me how 2 install the files but i cant install them it tells me
Application not installed any clue how 2 fix this and remove the old one some thing? any one?
You need to download the messaging bloatware zip, reboot into recoverymode and use CWM to install that zip file... It's the same process as installing grey/gingerblur.
Well if i new where the messaging bloatware zip was i would try 2 get that
i know they have the full one with everything but is there one with only the messaging part? or some thing like that?
Well i tryed 2 just install the messager part and i soft bricked my phone just fixed that but still dont have the old messaging system
Go to the android development section and find the gingerblur thread (it shouldn't be difficult). Then go to the gingerblur website given in the thread and download the bloatware.zip. you will also need tenfars cwm recovery which is in the development section also. Then just flash the zip file using the cwm recovery guide. Make sure your phone is plugged into a wall outlet charger when you do this (not a computer USB port) or it won't work.

Connect the MicroSD card to your computer
Turn off your Xperia X10 mini pro and remove the microSD card. See the instructions that came with your Xperia X10 mini pro for further instruction.
Insert the microSD card into the included original Sony Ericsson microSD adapter (CCR-80). Do you not have one, the use a SD adapter, which often follows when you buy a microSD card. Both adapters work the same way.
Plug the USB or SD adapter into your computer.
Why not use built-in partotion tool in the recovery tools?
People PM me about that. The short answer is: You will loose all your data on the SD-card.
If you do not care about that, just bypass the part with partitioning the SD-card with EASEUS Partition Master.
You will then have to partition the SD-card from xRecovery or ClockworkMod Recovery. Find the partition tool under advanced.
The longer answer is, that... oh... never mind
Native Apps2SD
Some ROMs do not need an EXT-partition for Apps2SD, if they use native Apps2SD.
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/07/apps-on-sd-card-details.html
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Apps2SD
If this is the case, you do not have to partition your microSD card.
Preparing the microSD card for APPS2SD
You probably have a lot of pictures, etc. on the memory card. It's a good idea, just for safety's sake, to copy them onto your computer before you continue.
Note: Pictures taken with the stock camera is located on the SD card in the DCIM folder.
Download EASEUS Partition Master (www.partition-tool.com) and install it on your computer and then start the program. Home Edition is free (freeware).
In the Partition Master's main window you can now see all the hard drives, including the microSD card that sits in your USB or SD adapter.
Click the right mouse button on the microSD card and select Resize/Move. Be very carefull that it is the microSD card you click!
In the window that pops up, decrease the Partition Size until Unallocated Space After get as close to 1024 as possible, but not over. The space to be used by APPS2SD on the microSD card, can not exceed 1024 MB
Edit: It has come to my attention, that higher size, like 2048 should work fine too. But do we need that much space for apps? You can always resize at a later time using Partition Master.
Then click the OK button.
The main window now shows an unused area at the end of the microSD card.
Click the right mouse button in the Unallocated field and choose Create.
You might get a warning that Windows will only see the first partition. Just click Yes and continue.
Choose Primary at Create as, and EXT3 at File System and click the OK button.
Click Apply at the top left in the main windows, and then YES at the box that appears.
The program now starts to move the files and reduces the size of the existing partition and then creates the EXT3 partition used by APPS2SD.
Let the microSD card in your computer, for next, we will put some files onto it.
Place custom ROM etc. on the microSD card
Now that we have the microSD card in the computer, we might as well put some files and custom ROM and some special apps (apk-files) on it.
Create a folder on your microSD card and call it ROMs.
Inside that folder create folders for the custom ROM you want.
E.g. if you want CyaNo (R)Evolution, create a folder named CyaNo.
Then download CyaNo and put the zip file in the CyaNo-folder.
If any hotfix are realeased for the two ROM, you can also store them in folders.

Download needed apps for later use
To install a custom ROM on Xperia X10 mini pro, there must be a recovery app on.
There are currently two different:
xRecovery - xRecovery-thread
ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) - CWM-thread
Note: All Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs installs with CWM.
Note: It is possible to have both xRecovery and CWM on your Xperia X10 mini pro at the same time using Dual Recovery. To install this, you first need to have CWM installed.
The easiest way of getting CWM on your Xperia X10 mini pro is via Mini Rom Manager or Recovery Installer.
Mini Rom Manager and Recovery Installer can not be downloaded from the Android Market, but must be downloaded from xda and installed manually.
Create a folder on your microSD card and call it APK.
Download Mini Rom Manager and save the apk-file in the APK folder.
Download Recovery Installer and save the apk-file in the APK folder.
Download kFix and save the apk-file in the APK folder (i will get back to this one later)
Download Dual Recovery and save the zip-file in the ROMs folder
Now you can remove the microSD card from your PC. Remember to use the "eject" function on your computer.
Put the microSD card back into your phone, click on its rear panel and turn on your Xperia X10 mini pro.
Gain root on your phone
Enable USB debug on the phone.
Start Settings from the app-menu. Tap Applications > Devolopment > USB debugging. Accept warning-popup by tapping OK.
Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable.
Du not activate access to the microSD card. tap on Charge phone.
Download SuperOneClick (www.shortfuse.org) and unpack the zip file somewhere you can find it easily, eg. on the desktop.
Open the folder and run the program and click on the large Root button on the top left corner. The program works a little and finally ask whether to check for root. It is not sure you will see any reaction on your phone.
You can now remove the USB cable.
Turn off the phone, and the turn on again.
Along with root, SuperOneClick will install an app onto the phone called Superuser. This app is crucial as it is able to give other apps access to system folders.
After restart it's a good idea to find and start Superuser. Under the Settings tab, there is an update button at the bottom. Tap this, just to be sure that you got the latest binary.
Install Recovery Installer
Start Super Manager (or your favorite file explorer) and navigate to the APK-folder.
Choose the Recovery Installer APK-file and then tap on the install button (bottom left). If you are asked what action to complete the operation, then select Package Installer.
Maybe you will be asked to provide access for installation from unsafe sources. In this case, choose Settings, then tap Unknown sources. A warning will appear that you just accept by tapping OK.
Install Recovery (CWM or xRecovery)
Start the Recovery Installer from app menu. Accept Superuser request by tapping Allow.
Tap Install CWM Recovery, or Install xRecovery, depending on how your chosen custom ROM must be installed.
Alternative way to install CWM
Mini Rom Manager has a build-in CWM-installer.
Start Super Manager (or your favorite file explorer) and navigate to the APK-folder.
Choose the Mini Rom Manager APK-file and then tap on the install button (bottom left). If you are asked what action to complete the operation, then select Package Installer.
Start the Mini Rom Manager from app menu. Accept warning by tapping Agree, and the tap Install CWM Recovery.
Note: Mini Rom Manager will retrieve CWM from the Internet, so it would be handy if your Xperia X10 mini pro is connected to a WIFI.
Manual way of installing xrecovery or CWM
N
If none of the above installment of recovery works, try the manual one in post #2 below.
Save the phonebook, SMS, MMS, call logs and notes
If your phonebook is not connected with a google account and/or you have a lot of messages you want to keep, you can make a backup of everything with MyBackup Root that you can find on the Android Market. After installing your custom ROM you can then restore the backedup phonebook, messages ect.
If you got a lot of notes you've written in the stock note app, then you must write them all down on a piece of paper or copy-paste them all one by one to a another note-app, like Evernote, which can save them online.
Note: You will otherwise lose all that data.
Backup the entire phone
Note: Make sure the battery isn't drained before you continue from here
Restart the phone and press repeatedly (not holding but press, release, press, release, press, release .....) on the back button when the white Sony Ericsson logo appears.
Shortly after CWM will start.
You navigate up and down in the menu using the volume buttons on the side of the phone and choose a menu item with the select button (middle button) and go back into the menu system with the back button.
In case you should regret installing the custom ROM, you can now make a backup of the everything first. Select Backup and restore, then Backup.
If you regred installing the custom ROM, you can restore the stock ROM later.
Install custom ROM
When the backup is compleate, select Factory Reset.
Now we are ready to install your custom ROM.
Select Install zip from sdcard and navigate to the folder where you put your custom ROMs and select your the ROM you want. Repeat this for any hotfix.
The 2 screens to the left are from CWM, the right is from xRecovery.
CWM and xRecovery has almost the same interface and are easy to use.
You navigate up and down in the menu using the volume buttons on the side of the phone and choose a menu item with the select button (middle button) and go back into the menu system with the back button.
Dual Recovery (xRecovery + CWM recovery on your Phone)
Note: Only for ROM-testers, that want to change ROM more often than changing their shorts.
If you followed the guide above, you sould also have the Dual Recovery zip in your ROMs folder.
If you think you might need to install custom ROMs with xRecovery, you can now install Dual Recovery. If you know you don't need xRecovery, then don't bother.
Select Install zip from sdcard and navigate to the ROMs folder and select the Dual Recovery zip.
To start CWM use the Back key as explained above. To start xRecovery use the Home key in the same way instead.
Ready for your custom ROM
When finished, select Reboot phone.
When the phone starts again, it is with your new custom ROM.
Note: First startup might take a long time.
Note: Keeps looping boot-image forever? Pull battery and turn on again and press repeatedly on the back button when the white Sony Ericsson logo appears. Try another ROM.
Note: Everything sucks and don't work? Try Sony Ericsson PC Companion to restore custom ROM.
National QWERTY hard-keyboard
In Mini Rom Manager there is a feature to set the hardware keyboard, so your national characters works properly.
The most sensible custom ROM comes with Mini Rome Manager preinstalled. If not, follow my instructions to install Mini Rom Manager again on the custom rom.
Start the Mini Rom Manager and go to Settings and Extras.
Tap Change HW Keyboard Layout and select your national keyboard in the list.
If you experience ÆØÅ and other special characters like @ is not seated properly when using the keyboard, long-tap (set your finger and let stay on the screen) where the text is written until a menu pops up.
Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select Input Method. Then choose Standard Input. Now you can write ÆØÅ etc.
With the QWERTY keyboard folded in, an on-screen keyboard appear instead. We all know Standard Input.
The two other input methods displays a full keyboard on the screen that you can swich between small and big letters, numbers and special characters.
Android keyboard does not have special keys like ÆØÅ, but offers the ability to write special (national) versions of letters, if there are any, if you long-tab on the letter.
TalkBack keyboard on the other hand, got special keys like ÆØÅ, but also allows you to write special (national) versions of letters by using long-tap. I always find it difficult to call them up. The long-tap mostly fails for me in TalkBack.
kFix - Keyboard LED lights like on Stock ROMs
kFix is a little app that sets the keyboard light as in the original ROM.
The most sensible custom ROM comes with kFix preinstalled. If not, install kFix.
Start Super Manager (or your favorite file explorer) and navigate to the APK-folder.
Choose kFix APK-file and then tap on the install button (bottom left).
If you are asked what action to complete the operation, then select Package Installer.
Maybe you will be asked to provide access for installation from unsafe sources. In this case, choose Settings, then tap Unknown sources. A warning will appear that you just accept by tapping OK.
Now you can avoid the pitfalls of having to use the keyboard in the dark while the light in the keys will not turn on. Do you go from a bright room into a dark, the light in the keyboard should turn on as we know it from the original ROM.
Restore phonebook, SMS, MMS, call logs, etc.
If your phonebook is linked to a Google account all your contacts will show up again when you are logged into your google account during synchronization (if you added your contacts to Google-profile and not just stored them on the phone).
Did you do a backup with MyBackup Root, you can restore your data again with the same app, and you can access any notes you have created in Evernote, with the same app.
Enjoy

[TUT] Installing ClockworkMod Recovery for X10 Mini Pro on stock ROM
For some reason, it's sometimes a gordian knot to get ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) installed on a stock ROM, as you need CWM to install CWM.
Requirements
Xperia X10 mini pro, with ROOT
Xperia X10 mini pro, with Superuser (udpated)
(follow the TUT above untill the Install Recovery part, and you should be good)
Download files
Attach your X10 mini pro to the PC with USB-cable and tap Connect your phone.
Create a folder on your SD-card and call it xRec.
Download xRecovery to your PC and extract the 3 files from the zip-file to the xRec folder on the SD-card.
The 3 files are:
busybox
chargemon
xrecovery.tar
Do not onpack the xrecovery.tar file.
Download cwmr3_xrecinstall.zip and save it to the xRec folder on the SD-card.
Disconnect the USB from your X10 mini pro. Note: remember to use the eject USB function on your PC.
Manual install of xRecovery
First start the Market app and get Super Manager.
Start Super Manager, tap on Settings, check the Enable ROOT Function, accept the Superuser request.
Tap on File Explorer, and navigate to the xRec folder and check the 3 files.
Tap on the copy icon (the one with 2 overlapping dokuments).
Navigate to the root, and then navigate into the System folder. A popup asks if you want to switch R/W-rights. Do that by tapping the R/W button.
Navigate into the bin folder and then tap the insert icon (the clipbobard).
NOTE: You might get a message, that there wasn't enough space for the files. Just ignore this message, the files should be copied anyway. Check if they are.
Now xRecovery is installed on your stock ROM.
Install of CWM
Restart the phone and press repeatedly (not holding but press, release, press, release, press, release .....) on the back button when the white Sony Ericsson logo appears.
Shortly after xRecovery will start.
You navigate up and down in the menu using the volume buttons on the side of the phone and choose a menu item with the select button (middle button) and go back into the menu system with the back button.
Select Install zip from sdcard and navigate to the xRec folder and select the cwmr3_xrecinstall.zip.
xRecovery will now install CWM.

I think it must use fat32,
Becoz u'r sd card more than 2gb..
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
But if I use FAT32 I can't resize partitions or delete it!
Does it only work with MicroSD cards smaller than 2GB? I'd buy one.
Screenshot:
My new microSD is 8 GB, and the first partition is FAT32.
I did not change any part of original partition, only the size.
I have also changes sizes af the partitions later, to make the EXT larger, with no problem.
From your screen-shot, it looks like you right-click at wrong place.
You have to right-click at the light-blue bar representing drive K at the buttom of your screenshot (in the red square).

I couldn't tell. I get the same popup-menu as you do, when i right-click where you did before, and the one in my screenshot, when i right-click in the red square.
Another option is first highlight the blue bar (drive K in red square), and then click the Resize button at the top (3 from left). Wich it seams you do not have
I'm wondering why your screen shot of Partition Master do not look like mine
Try use the Server Edition. It's also for free download.
I don't understand that. It's the same... I think I have to get a 2GB MicroSD. Maybe a fried has one.
I only have got two options:
Format and copy.

I just downloaded the new version of Home Edition (free one). I have no problem in resizing partitions on my microSD card in either the USB or the SD adapter.
Did you plug the microSD card into the USB or the SD adaptor?
You didn't just plug the phone to the PC with the USB cable, did you? This won't work.
SuperOneClick Root gets to step 5 and freezes.
Any suggestions?

Try the older version 1.9.1 of SuperOneClick.
I was able to root my phone using SuperOneClick packed into this little program found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1214156 I think it is because of the latest little update? Anywya I hope others have success with this one.
I really hope someone can help me out here. I am on stock rom (never tried custom yet) but now that I see a lot of interesting Rom's I would like to try one. Here's what I did;installed Xrecovery via AAIS, then CWM and now the dual-recovery zip. (I also tried xrec/cwm seperately) So I can chose to use xrec or CWM. Now here's my problem; I am unable to install ANY Rom I have tried so far (gingerbread roms's i.e Gintonic.se but also 2.1.1.Clean.0.0 which is a normal 2.1 rom and flashable via xrec only) won't install.
Everytime I get:
cant open /sdcard/Roms/x.zip 'installation aborted' (bad) I have tried a different SD card (standard) but the same problem persists....I can not believe I am unable to install a custom ROM but I am completely stuck with my problem. I am rooted/xrec working/cwm working...I can install small updates (ie cwm via xrec&dual-recovery.zip) but NOT a complete Rom...Whywhywhy???!!!...It is driving me crazy!!!
Can someone please help me out?

Did you download on PC and then transfer to SD-card or did you download directly to your phone?
I expierences that once also with a ROM downloaded directly to my phone.... a fresh new download on my PC instead fixed it, and then transfer to phone via USB-cable.
Can you open the zip-file on your computer (just to see if it's valid)?

[Q] Xperia x10 Questions!!

I know im late but this is a bit confusing for me. I have rooted my x10 and according to "rootchecker" I also have busybox installed.(tho I can't find the busybox icon in my menu, it's just the superuser) Now I've seen some mods that requires me to flash the files via xrecovery. For example Bravia Engine, FPS Uncap, X-loud.
Now my question is when I open those file it has two folders "META-INF" and "System" now how do I put this into my phone?
Methods & Problems:
xRecovery - How do I flash the .zip file via xrecovery? Should I put it in my sd card and from the xrecovery mode press "Install update.zip from SD card"?? If yes then where in SD card? And Do I have to rename it as update.zip when I put it in my SD card?
Changing Value - There are some apps that requires changing value of my build.props. But when I change the value and try press tab to save, the save tab doesn't show (I mean I can't click on it). Then when I press back there's two option of "save" and "Discard" but when I save it and then re-enter into my build.props the value gets back to its original state. It doesn't change??
Unpacking - It says in a topic "Unpack all of the files to the relevant folders on your mobile" - What relevent folder? the folder it has in the zip file is not present in my sd card (I can see those folder via astro manager and I tried to copy/paste those folder into my sd and then via asto I tried to replace each original file that I have in my phone but it doesn't work, it doesn't let me paste it)
Sorry if this sounds stupid to you guys but I'm new to android and I'm having problem getting things right. So if any of you would help me through this issue step by step it'd be greatly appreciated.
To install those kind of things you have to use flashtool to add xrecovery to your phone, then you have to copy the .zip file in the sd card then turn off your phone and turn it back on when you get the sony ericsson logo start hitting the back key repeatedly till you go in xrecovery mode, use volume keys to go down and menu key to select, select the option install custom zip... then select install from sd card, then select the zip, and then select yes... let it install it and once is finish remove the battery and put back in, turn on your phone and the bravia, xloud or whatever zip you installed should be already running

To change the values in build.prop I recommend the use of Root Explorer,
Go to the folder \system\, tap on the grey button at the top of your screen, that says "Mount R/W", (after tapping it will read "Mount R/O". This will make the copying in root-folders possible, too.... you have to have changing-rights (read-write) to copy things into root-folders.
Then long-click on build-prop, scroll down and choose "Open in Text editor", change whatever you must change, and click left-hardware-button and after that choose "Save and Exit". The Root Explorer will make (and announce) a backup-copy named "build.prop.bak".
This should work.
Good luck, greetz,

when I install it it takes permission from superuser, I pressed yes and then it says "SORRY!! The application Root Explorer (processcom.speedsoftware.rootexplorer) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" [Force Close]
I've tried two different version....
Try es explorer from market.
